Thursday 2012-10-11 EMOM’S MOUNTAIN NEWS Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home! Get in here and warm up. Sheesh, it was cold out there this am… I’ve dug my winter ankle boots out and they are now warming up my tootsies. (No relation to the movie!) However, I am keeping my bikini near at hand. Ya’ never know. I’ve had hot and sunny while Anna and fam are suffering from near frost bite! Would these lovely green eyes lie or make sumfin up? Oh yeah! I am still getting hysterically funny remarks about the man, the dog and the parking lot. Oh dear! I wasn’t til I was talking to the JC about it that I remembered that I wore ‘body butter’ that day. Lolol It was either strawberry or rose scented. Just be advised that no matter what flavor the body butter, I seem to draw a crowd. In the winter, I wear gingerbread scent… Oh dear! Lolol Anyway, I know better, but I wore it anyway! And then, a while back I received a package from my secret admirer. In the package were three varieties of ‘body butter’… one of which was a rose scent. Yummy aromas. Then today, I received an email from my Brat, the Marv! I guess we are engaged again... or not… lolol He tells me that biggest diamond in the known universe is now mine from him. A planet size diamond! My only problem with this diamond is that I must go outside to get it and bring it home. Outside the solar system that is… It, the diamond, is only 40 light years away. No problem.. but first I must recheck the theory of relativity. Will I be able to get to the diamond planet before it moves away and hides? Where is Einstein when you need him? Do you suppose the Marv is trying to get rid of the meems? Sweetheart that I am? Oh yeah! What else… Oh yeah… the pix of the putzer that I allegedly posted/sent yesterday, did not come thru on many of the postings. Sorry bout that. The email groups came thru ok…but not the soc networking sites. More puter work for the meems. Or sumfin. Anybody got any suggestions? Any advice would be helpful. I don’t understand why emails will take the pix but not the networking sites… Oh well. Speaking of pix, there is one floating around of the meems in the pink camo hat. I got a note from Wayne. The message? “ROFLMAO!†That he could just picture me in a pink camo outfit…And here I thot I was cute…. That’s it for now, Brats… Take care and go in safety always. Remember Brats, that I have a longgggggggggg memory… I will get even… Many hugs, much love and lots of laffter every day…The scrubbing off the body butter meems
WEDNESDAY 2012-10-10 EMOM’S MOUNTAIN NEWS Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home! Now, get your buns in here and have a snack for lunch… I think I am gonna’ have chickie salad today with home grown tomatoes… Sounds yummy to me. And some nice hot coffee… Kinda coolish out today and windy. and here we have a pic of the Lilyputz. My baby… Finally managed to copy/paste a pic!!!! YES! Now, let’s get back to my long suffering reputation! Sheesh, have I gotten the comments! I have laffed till I cry… can’t breathe, turn purple and fall out of my chair! I don’t know if y’all remember the strange visit I had a while back from the lady accusing me and assuming me of having “candle lit dinners†for the guys? Oh yeah (for those of you not familiar, I have two flags sitting in my front window…elec candle burning 24/7) OK? With me? I got comments from the Marv, Sher, Jo’e, Patsy, JC… and lots of others about my trip thru the ‘pick up’ lot and the man without a dog! I let Kelly’s office know about my possible change in status…that I was taking my ‘candlelit dinners’ out on the road… Sorta’ depends on the weather. And my only intent was to give a needy pup a home. Isn’t there a quote somewhere that says: “the way to hell is paved with good intentions I don’t drive anymore…I don’t bother anybody so how do I get into all these messes? Lol Every time I sign off or end a call with a friend, they tell me to behave! Sheesh Speaking of behaving, a heldoctor went over the house yesterday and rattled my coffee mug. I love them guys and gals…go in safety, young’uns! Then, yesterday, the phone system went down. Oh dear! I couldn’t get on the net. Couldn’t call local numbers. I could, however, call 611. I reported problems with phone and puters. After several hours, I was back on line and had px service. Would you believe I am the LAST on all lines here on my road? Found out the problem had to do with a squirrel chewing on sumfin. Do they make squirrel cages for equipment? Now, there’s an invention we all can use! Lolol Can’t remember if I told y’all that I’ve ordered a larger propane tank… It’s for emergencies only. Getting ready for winter… It’s supposed to be very bad here this winter in the mountains. As a retiree, I live on a budget… I paid ahead for a year to have the dollars available to get the larger tank. I have a ventless heater and an apartment sized gas stove in the basement. With these two heat givers, I can keep the water lines from freezing in case the elec goes down… The water pump will go off but I have plenty of water in the pond. Just boil the water! And don’t try to argue with Mother Nature… It’s easier to get along with her in the long run. Lolol Guess that’s it for now. Go in safety all of mine and take care. Remember scout or not, be prepared for the inevitable.. whatever it may be. Many hugs, much love… and LOTS of laffter… meems
EMOM’S MOUNTAIN NEWS – FINALLY! Tuesday 2012-10-9 Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home! Get in here and set by the fire. Have some coffee or tea or or…lolol It’s freeze your bunnies off out there this morning! My favorite time of the year… oh yeah! Ok, now what have I been up to? Let me NOT count the ways! Lolol My bad ankle is a lot better. Now, I can walk in an almost sober manner. I wrote a couple of critiques for Amazon about things I’ve ordered on line. Even with shipping fees, I save hours of driving time and gas money by ordering thru the net. One critique was about the pink camo hat… It was accepted right away! I cracked up. I let Marv, Sherr and Bobbi know. Aw, they laffed and got hysterical. Next thing I know, Bobbi pops up wearing the identical patterned hat. I am on the floor again. (am I contagious?) Have I mentioned I have the matching long sleeve t-shirt… pink camo! I also have a bear running around the house… the other nite, I opened the east window to let the cool air in while I slept. Well, the odor almost knocked me down! Sort of skunkyfied but not skunk… a yucky pucks aroma! The dogs were hysterical… it was a bear! Probably a young one. Tis the season… A sad note, at that moment, I was down to two dogs. My poor little raggedy Lilyputz passed. She was 12 and one of the best friends I’ve ever had. She’ll be waiting for me on the other side, I am sure. Well, with bear, a pair of mountain lions(yes, I saw them across the road from the house.) and some of the two legged idiots that run around up here, I decided that stormy needed a back up. Well, I called Becky. Need a dog… She found a lady who had 10 dogs already but had a 5 or 6 month old foundling who needed a home. Oh yeah, he’s part shepherd… his name is Joker… Oh dear. Anyway, I arranged to meet the lady in a van at the Subway Shop in Beattyville on a Sunday. Grasscutter came out to mow.. He drove me over to Beattyville to meet the lady Pulled into lot…saw vans but nobody looked like they might be transporting a dog for me. Then, there is an additional lot/space right next door to the Subway. Gray van, person inside. Gcutter drove me over to the other lot. I get out of van… waving hands… go to passenger side door...guy rolls down window just a grinning at me.. I ask if he is the person with the dog I am to meet? ‘’ don’t have a dog’’ .. He’s still grinning.. He is flirting with me!?! Apologized and went back to my truck. Gcutter was hysterical! Come to find out, that lot is used by the locals as a vege stand area and a pick-up/meeting place for the local ‘ladies of the evening’. Oh dear, I’ll never live this one down! More on this tomorrow… running out of space. Lolol Hugs and much love to all of mine. Remember that when you move to the mountains, you start a whole new lifestyle..meems
![]() Sunday, September 23, 2012 Emom’s Mountain News Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home. Is it OK if we just skip 2012 should it roll around again? Sheesh! It only took me two days of work to get this copy of the meems at 50ish to transfer to a letter page. I have no idea how I got here or just how I may get back if I lose this… I could send/forward it from Bobbi on email but that was it. The Marv, of course, fell madly in love with me again after seeing the pic. Lolol He says he may or may not send me another diamond. (I want one from the Russian crater - just discovered… for my tiara) The Marv said he would follow me anywhere. And I quote ‘’take me to my cell’’… Now what do you suppose he would have in mind…??? I fell on the floor in hysterics… I don’t think this attitude would go over on the good Sheriff from AZ. Lolol But then again………… I finally managed to get to the grocery and a dollar store last Monday. Lolol Another ‘oh dear’ coming up. I managed to hobble thru the whole place. I MADE IT! But people probably thot I was drunk because of the balance problem. Ran into a lot of guards and bosses from the jail system in Lee County. I have the best time with them… we/I get them started on war stories… Some, I’m sure you would find hard to believe but they ARE true. I mentioned being locked in the sally port and the Captain cracked up. Just like the guys in the control room did. May I mention that when/if the guys trust you, you are in a heap of trouble!!!! They locked me in the pink drunk tank… the padded cell (every one of you, bite your tongues and shut up, Marv!) then they took me to be fingerprinted… no problem here… And finally they took another pic of me in uniform. In front of the height chart and gave me a card with my numbers on it… I wonder if I am giving away a secret here… but my number was 00000-0000-0 or sumfin similar. I was so cute!!!! Lolol Later all my brats. Take care and go in safety always. Remember to lean on the good days… it sure helps sometimes. Many hugs, much love and lots of lafter every day…. meems

2012-9-03 Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home!!!
Well kids, here I sit... foot propped up...(I did have it hung over my right ear) waiting for the swelling to go down. No, I didn't fall down and go boom. It's either tendonitis, arthritis, Lyme's disease from a tick bite or or or...writers' cramp..tennis toe...and then there's always... I dunno! lolol Now, do you guys remember the bet I had going with the Marv? I think it had sumfin to do with plate tectonics or maybe the warming earth but then again, maybe not. Well, anyway, the Marv said he won... and that I owed him the nickel we bet. OK, so I go searching thru the house for a wooden nickel that I had. Couldn't find the darned thing. The other day, when I was talking to Bobbi, she said she had a wooden 50 cent piece. Wowser... here we go! I asked her to mail the piece ... enclose note stating that I now considered the bet settled... which she did. Her note also stated that he should send the change to me. I received email from the Marv.... ohoh! ... stating that he would take care of it. Be advised that this missive is coming to you from the nearest fall out shelter I could hobble to..Oh yeah! I see a big gotcha coming! Now, one gotcha I did not see coming, I received in today's mail. Do you brats recall the bet I had going about 5 years ago...the one involving one of Elmer's nanny goats (this nanny would follow me anywhere because she loved the lemon cookies I gave her as a treat?) Well, nanny was preggers.... Becky's daughter was preggers at the same time. Some how, the bet involved who would give birth first.... (Yeah, I know) Anyhow, the little lemon was born first... Elmer screwed up on his figuring and I ended up owing Beck a breakfast. El owed me a million dollars because I compounded his interest on a daily basis!
Well, anyhow, there was an item in the mail box with Anna and El's address as the senders. Hmmm.... now what???? Lolol I opened up the envelope... pulled out a 3x5'' card. PAID IN FULL signed by El. OK???? Sumfin still inside envelope.....
I reach in and pull out a $1,000,000 bill with Obama's picture on the front. I fell on the floor... OMG! I called down there right away... I could hear El howling in the background...Anna was cracking up too. I'd love to enclose a pic but I figure if I do one more little thing, the Secret Service will come get me. I hear Fed Prisons are halfway decent this time of year... Besides, I am old, feeble, charmingly insane, an outrageous flirt, rude, crude and abrupt! Plus, I exaggerate on occasion.
Take care all of mine. Go in safety always. Remember that sometimes lil ol' ladies can be witches riding a rough broom... or sumfin like that....
Many hugs, much love and lots of lafter. Meems

EMOM'S MOUNTAIN NEWS Friday
Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home.
I'm tearing my hair out again! Look out wig department here I come. Sheesh, can you believe the phones here in my area are not working properly? Oh yeah... Marv tried to call me last nite at least 3 times. Phone didn't ring at my end at all. So the Marv emailed for me to call him! Oh dear! Lolol What a brat!
Anyway, I talked to my good friend at the phone company this morning. She tells me there are numerous calls attempting to reach people in our phone area. Company is working on it.....
Then, I talked to LJ for a while. I guess it's been a year since we've chatted. He said he's been doing some fishing and has managed to NOT fall in the river... Yeah, Right...
We swapped some critter tales while we were at it... He has mountain lion and wolves out there in Iowa. Well, I have wolves, coyotes and mountain lion here in the mountains. Does that mean I am one ahead? And Jake tells me the corn crops and the soy beans are in bad shape from the drought. But he does have a bumper apple crop... Now, just how did he do that??? The apples, that is.
I had a gazillion blossoms this spring...Peach...black cherry... white cherry and pears. Every darned one of them had blossoms. I had bees all over the place doing their jobs. And then, and then, we had two late freezes which wiped out all the possible fruit! Ratz!
Then, yesterday, I told y'all about Peach Blossom, my little girl skunk. Stormy invading the house with eau de skunke all over her prompted me to talk about her.
I wouldn't mind having another skunk. They are the neatest little critters... easily house broken. And Peaches at least, would do anything to be able to sink her teeth into a black cherry or the chocolate ice cream. Lolol Another thing, I never had to worry about feeding her. She made herself at home the first day. Discovered the 50 lb bag of dried dog food and helped herself. LOLOL She was a con artist tho... and she certainly knew how to manipulate John, my now ex. LOLOL
He would sit at the kitchen counter, watch t.v. and generally do nothing when he got home. Well, Peach would wake up around 1830 hours and head for the kitchen. She eat some and drink some water. And then she would head for John.
She would grab his shoe string and tug on it... trying to get his attention. No response from John. Peaches would then sit up on her haunches to paw at his shoe. Still no response. In a final effort to get his attention, she would reach up with her paws and teeth... get a hold on his socks and almost strip him bare. This show would go on every evening without fail. The whole family would crack up!
John would finally reach down, pick her up to hold her. She would lay over his arm, nose stuck thru his armpit and promptly go to sleep. Lol
Back then, when I still lived in the city, I would sometimes escape the stress of city living by playing an album of wolf songs... and with a mild whiff of skunk, I would be transported heart and soul to the peace of the wild woods. Now, I have access to my ‘heaven' anytime day or nite and it is wonderful.
Take care all of mine... go in safety always. Remember that sometimes good things happen when we least expect them...Oh yeah!
Many hugs, much love and lots of laffter every day. Meems

2012 - 8 - 16 EMOM'S MOUNTAIN NEWS
Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home
Ya know, I have decided that country/mountain living ain't for the faint of heart! Now, there is an understatement if I've ever made one!
Last nite was quiet and peaceful for the most part. I Skyped with Bobbi... she's starting to feel a little better but now the kids and her hubby are coming down with whatever it is. Well Ratz!
Now, a lot of times when Bobbi and I are chatting, we cover a lot of territory from the past. Do you remember?... how about the time?.... What about this critter or that one?
Well, we started a critter remember. One of the critters was Peach Blossom, a little girl skunk who had been descented. Peaches was housebroken... slept under the bed or in one of the closets. Was a nite owl type by choice and would sell her soul for black cherries or chocolate ice-cream. Lolol
Peaches would also get upset if any of her trees, rocks, or shrubs were moved inside the house. Trees=tablelegs/Pedro's cage. Rocks=loveseats and permanently located chairs. Shrubs could be anything from mop bucket to shoes. More than once, when I would forget to move the mop bucket out of the middle of the hallway, Poor lil Peaches would wake up and while heading for the kitchen, run into a bucket or a clothes basket or or or... She was toooooo cute.
Well, after chuckling over our pasts, Bobbi signed off and I got ready for bed. I played a very simple game I found on Boomerville for a while. I was just crawling into bed when here comes Stormy.
Now, Stormy was all wound up! Dancing, grinning and woofing at me. Guess who was sharing a new experience with the MOM!?! Oh yeah! Somewhere, either outside or inside the house, Stormy had become acquainted with a skunk and wanted to share the yummy (to her) aroma. OMG! Oh yuck! She stunk! And so did the house!
Oh man! I start checking the house. Now, dealing with a wild skunk is a whole lot different than dealing with a slightly tamed skunk. Didn't have any options... had to go looking! I read and talk skunk very well (With variations) after having The Peach. And as sleepy as I was I got tickled at myself. Nobody else I could think of would be running around the house, hours after dark, looking for a maybe skunk in hiding.
I looked but didn't find any strange critters. But, I didn't check the basement. I'll just have to wait and see about the basement.
Anyway, Bobbi and I Skyped again today. Lolol I told her about the skunk incident and she cracked up. Feeling bad or not, she understood. Lolol We both agreed that the timing of the talk and the incident itself gives one thoughts to ponder. Oh yeah!
Take care all of mine; go in safety always. Remember, good or bad, there's always a reason for things that happen. Lolol
Many hugs... much love and lots of laffter. Meems

2012-8-15
Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home.
Get your buns out here on the porch...grab a seat, coffee and some snacks! Been a while, I know but the Feds have been keeping me busy and more than a little depressed. Almost broke me this time and I don't mean money.
SocSec finally came up with a legible/comprehensible letter... According to them, I owe them $64. Does that number sound at all familiar? Lolol Seems like I had a go round with the same numbers last year.
The latest... Bobbi either has the flu or a really bad cold. Anna, as usual, is running her legs off. Anna's dog had to be taken to the vet... Either snake bite or a bite from a ‘possum. Big fight between the two. Anyway, that's a 40 mile trip, one way.
We had a couple of beautiful cool days recently. El came up to mow my lower field. Anna was busy waiting for sumfin or other at their place so I said I would babysit with El while he mowed. (That field is very rough in some places) Better I keep an eye out than to have sumfin bad happen when nobody is there to help.. The Lilyputz came out to keep me company while I was sitting on Tildy's gate.
Had a good time sitting there in the cool. Hadn't been able to stay outside for the longest time. Now, me being me, and knowing better. I went out with no bug spray or sun screen. (It was cloudy) How bout within two days I was covered with red itchy bumps?!? Sheesh! Now, ask me if I am still itching??????
Oh, do I have a comfy goody! The last time Gcutter took me to the store, I stopped at the Dollar store. I found a pair of men's camo jammy bottoms. (Cotton knit) Wowser... they fit, not too expensive and as comfy as anybody could want. I got a pair of ‘city', a pair of ‘navy' and I have ordered a couple of pair of what they call ‘brown'. I'll consider them my ‘dress up' pants cause they don't have any paint on them yet. Lolol
And weatherwise? I wasn't too sure I was gonna survive the heat and the being kept indoors. Into the 100's some days, humids were a gazillion percent. And then there are the biting bugs wandering around.
Another thing... I have deer droppings on the driveway. Others have seen my mamma mountain lion and her cub. This is a good thing. I now have semi-proof that I wasn't imagining things. Lolol The ‘mountain telegraph' (rumor) is broadcasting the info that the Feds have been dropping a couple of puma in some of the deeper hollers. They, the Feds, did the same thing with bears. We've had to put down a couple of bears in the last month. Drought is driving them into civilized parts of the mountains. Trust me, these are very wild animals and very dangerous.
The drought has brought the deer to the front yard and driveway. Water in the little pond, even tho awfully warm, is still drinkable.
And then, there's the explosions.... I've had two up here on the mountain within the last month. General consensus is that meth labs are blowing up. One event occurred a/a 2330 hours and the second a/a 1730 hours. And NO, it wasn't my imagination. I wish!!!
I don't understand this part, but it seems as tho the meth makers put the mixin's in a pop bottle, throw the bottles out of moving vehicle, let the sun do its work and then go back to collect the meth. That is, if it didn't blow up in the mean time.
I've missed my flyguys/gals. Very few contrails and only one flash about a month ago. I feel so bad about losing them.
Well, Brats, I guess that's it for the time being. Take care, go in safety always. Remember to take care of our Mother Earth. She is all we have.
Many hugs, much love... and lots of laffter... meems

2012 Emom's Mountain News 06010 WELCOME HOME, DEAR HEARTS, WELCOME HOME
Why would anybody in their right mind be up overnite, cleaning the kitchen floor? Rhetorical question but do ponder on it for a moment! Lolol
Been a while since I've been on, I guess. Let me tell you about the Marv. We have known each other for years now. We have been engaged, dis-engaged. He's given me several cyber diamonds over time; also wanted them back. (I've refused naturally!) He picks on me, I do gotcha's on him. (Trust me, I am ahead in this game!)
Well, the other day, when I was on FB, I decided to adopt him and make him one of my family. I think he bout broke his neck getting to the ‘yes' button and accepted. Then he sends me this nastygram... I am "NOT going to be in his will" Now, did I ask? I don't think so but that's ok. Paybacks are a bear with a sore paw! I WILL get even! Lol
I've been doing ‘Suzy homemaker' things when I'm awake. Laundry, dishes, mopping. You guys know the drill. I HATE housework. Just give me a shovel and a bunch of plants and I am as happy as a freshwater clam!
And guess what I ordered from Lowes? A wet dry shop vac...4 ½ gal tank. This will be great for cleaning up shredded paper towels, toilet paper, boxes of various and assorted sizes. The Moosefoot is going thru his second phase of chewing. Did you know that Lab's and/or mixes do not mature until they are about two years of age? Truth, so help me!
If the person and the critter can survive those first two years, you will have the best partner in the world from then on.
When I first moved to the mountains, I had a yellow lab. I think he ate eight remotes over time while I was at work. I even taped a damaged one back together and put tobasco sauce on it... I got home and he had eaten all of the outside of said remote... lololol I must be insane, but I do love them dogs... Great Pyrenees are so very similar... love them too.
I did check on the two climbing Peace roses yesterday. Not very big yet but great shiny greens showing. Oh yeah, the Chocolate tree. We had such a bad spring that I was afraid it might not have survived. But there she is with new growth all over. Way to go, Choccy!
What else... Cats and kittens... I have them running all over the place. Delilah, head of the cat pack, is great.. She nurses the kits when their mommas are out hunting... trust me I don't have mice/rats/or ground squirrels. Only problem with so many kittens here in the wild? Many do not survive.
Guess that's it for now. Take care all of mine. Go in safety always. Remember if you have the right breed of dog, you will learn patience... or not! Lolol
Many hugs, much love and lots of lafter every day... Meems
