I know, I know, Meems is a little late for the morning News...Sorry Marvin! (what a grouch!) I have been losing my mind with this webcam system...Meems has learned a lot since it dawned on me...I can use cam to take and send photos... Yes, this seems obvious to most of you but meems is not educated in the ways of the cyber world. Meems trips over new things everyday... Duh, would probably have helped to read the instruction manual when I downloaded cam info! Would I do something intelligent like that? Not in this life time... Meems has the giggles...

Been outside this morning too...Romeo and the clan are having a feast out there...dogs are remaining neutral for the time being. We have a stand off...and Romeo is puffed up twice his normal size and as good as any watch dog. lolol

I think the battle over the feeder has been settled by the hummingbirds...That is a definite maybe tho...Who knows..the lines of deployment change minute by minute. I just try to stay out of the line of fire! Them little jewels might be purty but they is mean.

MeSneaky gave me a call the other night to check on the emom...lolol this was too sweet... The weather was extra rough that day...We gabbed for a while..but she was mainly concerned about meems being damaged by the storm gods... I laff because I was the one who taught my children survival skills for severe weather times...Love you Bobbi and I just gotcha!

Before I forget... A reminder that should you post something to a group and decide you want the post/comment removed...just pm Manager or mods...we will be happy to remove it for you.

Another reminder...Because the 'storm gods' play hard ball up here in the mountains, (lines down, trees down and lots of wind.) I might not be able to get on line because of interrupted phone or electrical service. Just the fun part of living at the edge of the world and I wouldn't trade it for the world!

Meems is off and gonna swing the paintbrushes again today. I am hot on a new series...

Welcome home all of mine, my dear hearts, welcome home! Hugs and smooches all around! I know I am late...Marv is going to complain mightily, grump that he is! I slept very late this morning and it was wonderful. To drift awake is such a gift in today's world.

Well gang, I have laffed til I cried already today. I turned the chickyducks loose last nite. Opened the gate to the pen and just let them go. All five ventured out into a new world cautiously but with great curiosity.

This morning, the wrecking crew discovered the new arrangements. lolol... Pygs and Ophie ran down to check the situation out... lolol big mistake! Now remember, there are 6 dogs of various and assorted sizes running around here... Newbie wasn't buying a nickels worth of this nonsense! Spud decided safety first. Big red decided just to observe. Those two little ones chose to tackle Romeo Romero, the rooster! Oopsie...! Romeo, who weighs almost as much as the little ones, was definitely on the defensive. Romeo went on the attack! Feathers out, wings beating and feet ready to flog! The little ones ran to Big red for protection... Romeo right behind them. lolol too funny! Big red decided right then she wanted no part of this and took off running. Spud and the two littles right behind her! I think Romeo proved his point...He went back to checking in the grass for anything edible. The hens and ducks didn't even notice. Neither did Lilyputz, the unmade bed dog. She was cover diving and refused to get up! Smart girl!

Now, as much as I hate to say this, I am ashamed of some of the ppl here on Eons. I can almost understand (intellectually) stalkers but I cannot understand BIGOTRY! A decent and talented human being has been run off Eons by hate mail! Whoever you are, you are cursed by your own actions. There really must not be much inside you. Your hateful words say much more about you than the person who received them. And always remember, what goes round, come round...the salt will follow!

I am sorry...I apologize to all the good ppl who have suffered the loss from Eons of a very good friend... a gentle soul with the heart of a poet. I am ashamed!

Wowser! Is this a gorgeous day or what?!? Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home to mine. Y'all can eat in the kitchen or out here on the porch. Meems is all for the back porch today. Take your coffee down by the pond and relax if you want...and then again, if you feel like volunteering some time, I can show you what needs to be done (work wise)...I am good at giving orders! lolol

Not much going on around here the last few days...The crazy season hasn't started yet.

MeSneak arrived home safely in Arkansas...and is out playing in the rock pile.

1300 hrs. Just woke up from my morning nap..If I try real hard, I just might be able to work one or two more into my schedule before bedtime tonite! lolol

Newbie!... Newbie is doing pretty well...he need a bath in the worst way...even the neighbors up wind are starting to complain! Odor aside, he is starting to show signs of the Newbie before the fight. Ah yes, lost two local newspapers and another throw rug yesterday! Yes, the Newbie we all know and love is well on the road to recovery! I, however, am going downhill rapidly! Must be paying for the sins of a very bad girl in a past life!

Meems is working on a painting today and my brain is yelling at me, PAINT! So, that's where meems is going!

Yes, Marvin, I know! I am late again...Meems is bin playing in the dirt around the pond...Managed not to fall or slide in this time! Wonder of wonders! Last year at this time, I spent at least half my time climbing out of the water! lolol...Nobody ever said I was graceful.

Gang, did y'all know that Marv is a grump when his almost schedule is disrupted? Man, he spends an awful lot of time chewing my ears off...That's ok...meems loves him anyway...lolol

Whispering! (He also has monumental hangover from celebrating his bday this week end! Him is a real party animal) Gotcha sweets! lolol

Any way, I planted the 'starts' Anna gave me. Stuck them in the ground where the pond keeps the soil damp. I can always move them later once they take root.

Oh gee! Divana chewed my ears too...I forgot to mention Newbie yesterday and boy, did she let me know about it! Newbie is improving daily...Front legs have improved a lot. In fact, Newbie was trying to get Big Red dog to play...She would try to stay out of his reach...Didn't work...lolol...Newbie would grab her tail feathers and hang on! Ear looks terrible but at least not any worse. Still giving him the 'myacins'. And the boy is eating, not like a dog, but a hog. Oh and is he shedding! Big sheets of fur...hunks, bunches, lots, a least a whole nother dog's worth. Should gather it and crochet a scarf or sumfin for winter.

PARTY TIME EVERYBODY! Finally, finally finished paper work for SS and it went out in today's mail... I rec'd package today...MeSneaky sent me some rocks...from Arizona. Some smokey quartz still in the matrix. Official names written on bags and everything...Have to get my books out and start reading again. Chrissie is doing/healing well after her tonsilectemy.

Meems is still recovering from the VISIT and meems is gonna take a nap...dogs and all...

2008/22/04 0930 HRS..Mornin JD Sr...

Hey gang, get yourselves some coffee and donuts or whatever. We're out here on the back porch! Magnificent morning! Grab a seat and just listen for a while. It is definitely SPRING! Birds are all over and just a singing up a storm! Even the dogs are quiet for the moment,
just listening.

Oh look! A lilac is blooming there by the pond...Just one bloom that smells so good. I planted it last year. Honeysuckle is blooming too.. I have tried to keep the 'smell good' plants to the west. When the breeze blows just right and the back door is open, the most wonderful aromas float around the inside of the house. Oh, it is gorgeous today!

Welcome home, all my dear hearts, welcome home. You are safe here...Relax, be at ease, enjoy the companionship of those who have been there.

Fair warning to all who sit out here. The hummingbirds are back! They are fiesty lil critters! Sometimes when they are chasing each other away from the feeder, they will forget we are here...just sit quietly and they will not fly into you... well, most of the time anyway. Beautiful little winged jewels flashing in the sun light! I get so tickled sometimes...lolol If, heavens forbid, the feeder is empty, they will come and hover outside the kitchen window to complain. I've even had them come into the kitchen when the back door is open. They land on the light fixture, just watch for a while.. then they'll go back out... I love my mountains...oh yeah!

I think I have recovered from the VISIT! Now, I am a talker but I do believe age might just be catching up with me...Meems was really tired yesterday...Talking, laffing and giggling non-stop for hours on end wore me out! Chrissie, my gdaughter, just shook her head at her mother, Bobbi, and me. We laffed until tears were running. Her, with her luggage being searched at the air port...all because she was bringing mom some rock samples. Chrissie was the only adult here Sunday. lolol Poor child had never seen two women behave in such an outrageous manner. Lordy! It was more fun...

Meems is off to get into something. I do have to plant a couple of starts of flowering shrubs Anna gave me the other day.

2008/19/04 Mornin JD Sr....

Well, get in here out of the rain! Hang your gear outside on the porch...Just the least bit chilly out there this morning.

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home. Pull up a chair, set a spell, relax...chow is hot and so is coffee!
Speaking of coffee, I best make some more.

When I let the dogs out this morning, I walked out onto the porch. Stood there at the rail watching the rain drops bounce on the surface of the pond. While I was standing there, I thought I heard a familiar sound, almost like a buzz but not quite. I was greeted by one of my hummingbirds...he, it is a male, hovered face level just about 4 feet from me...A magic connection is made in an instant! In my mind, I hear FEED ME! lolol Another mouth to feed and so early in the day! Last year, with the drought and all, I gave up on them showing up at all. Now, I must get some more sugar. I don't use it and didn't realize how close to 'out' I was.

This might be a helpful hint to any 'Birders' out there. I heat the water to boiling in the microwave... then add a pinch of salt, the sugar. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Let mix cool. Just before pouring in bottle, add about a tablespoon of vanilla extract. Made too much for the feeder? pour cooled mix into a clean two litre bottle, refrigerate leftovers to top off feeder the next day.

Marv, my anonymous pal in Calif, has done nothing but grump all week...I must disrupt his schedule or sumfin when the News is not out early. Gee whiz, Marv, give the old lady a break! Yeah, yeah, I know, will never happen. lolol.

Rain! Now, let me tell you my little story about the falling rain...Once upon a time ago, I had serious problems trying to fall asleep. Me, being the intelligent scatter brain that I am, thought...AHA!..I know exactly what to do!

I went looking for and finally found a tape of water sounds, the sea shore, the falling rain, the rumble of distant thunder...oh, sooooo soothing and relaxing...I would drift off easily, to sleep soundly. Wonderful!

We were having a terrible hot summer that year...very little rain and everything was drying up...Was awful! I am at work...fingers busily typing and I start to nod off. Yup, the tape worked...the rain was falling on the tin roof of the building and all I wanted to do was curl up and take a nap... to this day, rain = naptime to me. Guess where I am going this morning when the news is finished? Aw! you guessed. lolol

Oh, some good news! Newbie has turned the corner...He is much better today...Legs are still sore, ear is still mangled but all improving...Some body want to pass the hat to help me feed this growing monster...Lordy, he puts away a lot of food at one setting! lolol I am so glad!

Well, did any of you get rattled out of your beds this morning? USGS says it was a 5.4 5 miles NNE of Bellmont, Il in the New Madrid Fault Zone at depth of 10 km. This was the original and early report from USGS.

Went out to check on Newbie early, he's coming along physically...eating/drinking plenty of water.

Saw my fly guys up there a playing again...Must have rolled out early this morning...was just barely daylight.
Looks like a beautiful day...Wonder what kind of trouble I can get into today? It boggles the mind!

1130 HRS. Hmmm! Cannot get into trouble if I am in bed asleep! Also cannot get the News done! Duh...I just woke up and crawled out again! lolol...The dogs, except Newbie and Lily are all outside so I didn't have any doggy gotcha's going on! Newbie is here by my feet right now and still in a lot of pain...Poor feller I'm giving him 2 baby aspirins to help.

Let's see, what else... My oldest grandaughter, who lives in Dayton, OH had her tonsils removed this am. She is in her early thirties! Bobbi, my oldest and her mother, flew there to be with her...Then either on Sunday or Monday, they are planning to drive down here to visit...G'daughter wants to 'steal' some of my paintings...Gee, is it too soon to go back to bed and pull covers over head? ...or may be too late!

I am headin' for the coffee, the vanilla and an ice pack. I think I might just work on having a headache!

Gee whiz gang...meems is running a lot off schedule. Sorry, kinda hectic around here the last few days... lunch is ready...soup and sammiches...lolol...cold/hot drinks and a can of beer for the boss.

My FLYGUYS were up there playing again. Just before noon I went out to check on Newbie and I heard one... looked up...and saw the con trails. Yup, getting in their air times... I swear to you the one went right over the house again...well, the west end...It was the wing man, flying low... I stood and watched...and, honest truth, I saw two very white flashes...dah dih... I waved like crazy and laffed out loud... Who knows, maybe it was the sun's flash but I choose to believe otherwise. What a fun way to start my day. Thanks Mine!
Love every minute of it!

Grasscutter brought out the feed yesterday. He was earlier than usual. And, he did cut the grass. Rough cut but for the first cutting, it looks great! Oh my... lolol.. spring is here! Even after two days of heavy frost, the trees are budding out! Soft oranges and golds and greens... the far mountains glowing blue in the sunlight...the shadows a rich blue purple. Such beauty...a sheltered lower field covered with wild violets. Oh, this is my world of complete contentment!

Wow...we have a celebrity in our midst...! The KK's blog, title THE DAFFODIL PRINCIPLE, was featured on the home page...see her blog under her profile page (keenkat49)...Beautiful parable... As mean as her is to meems, she is good friend...We fight all the time...yesterday, she beat me to the solution of the Google Guess in CCC. Meems thinks her cheats! gotcha KK

I don't know where the Boss gets all these ideas for CCC but he drives me crazy sometimes...don't say it marv, don't even think it NN!... The Garymeister finds more puzzles and riddles to post! I can't figure them out! Ratz! Now, any of you who know me at all, realize there is little to no logic in my way of thinking! Yes, mesneaks, I know that is an understatement! Anyway, where I was going before the digressions, The BOSS finally admitted IN PUBLIC that he is a turkey! YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS!!!! He said he was the turkey I called yesterday! lololol GOTCHA BIG TIME BOSS!

Newbie is maintaining...he is still traumatized by the injuries and I need be careful to let him know I am going to touch him...He came in house yesterday afternoon and stayed right by my feet. He woke me overnite whining... all body functions working properly too. I would rather he be chewing the back half of the house if you want to know the truth. He just needs time and some extra tlc...

Meems is still playing with the paper work from SS. Is taking longer than I expected...Oh well, I have all the time in the world to play!
