2008/18/05 1130 HRS...

Mornin' all, welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home.

Armed Forces Day was yesterday, the 17th. and some how I missed it. I did have it marked in my diary. I apologize to all my dear ones out there. All of mine who have served and are still serving.

Because of you, my very own, I am free to do as I will! I can plant, sit, read, enjoy my mountains in safety. My children and theirs can go about their lives in safety.

I have the freedom to say what I wish, when I wish. No one need agree with my thoughts or ideas but I have the secure knowledge that you, all of mine, have fought and died, fought and lived to maintain that right for me!

Know, all of mine, that I love you and care very deeply for and about you. Be at peace, go in safety always... hugs and love from the meems aka Paula Rice aka emom

Well, kids, come on in and find a seat... Breakfast is ready...coffee is hot... and the sun is up. If you want to sit out on the porch or down by the pond, go ahead.. comfy where ever you go...

First thing... KK is on my list! She posted a couple of things that I thot you might find interesting. One is on CCC...a youtube of Carol Burnett's 'Snow White fifteen years later' Barrum bum! It is hysterical and I am still crackin' up... The other is posted in The Lighter Side and is a clip of Kermie singing the Rainbow Connection. Now, there is something about the song that just continues to stick with me... Hummed it and sang it all day yesterday...lolol... Couldn't get the darned melody out of my head. And, I will probably listen to it several times today...I do miss the Kermie shows.

I also rec'd some clips of Tim Allen playing the banjo! My gosh, the guy is talented! I really enjoyed them. I can't for the life of me remember if it was Marv or JCC who sent them to me. Anyway, I sure did like them songs!

The Boss man is having company this week...The little Boss man will be visiting for a whole week...lolol... enjoy it Boss, I can't wait to hear about the adventures that will have occurred! Gots the giggles just waiting to hear!

The dogs had a sing-song going last nite...lolol Must have been coon hunters down the holler cause I could hear the hounds singing. Was way after dark when the doggy sing song began. Thank goodness mine weren't in the house...all six would have been howling, yowling and barking! All of that going on in the bedroom would have been deafening! LOLOL

Meems is off to play in the dirt or maybe I'll do some cover diving... Not too sure which I am gonna do first!

Later all of mine...take care and go in safety...hugs and love...meems

Good morning all..well, it is still morning, just barely. Slept late and was awakened by 3 little critters playing Doggy Gotcha on my stomach. Trust me this is too funny on a normal 'I've been up for a while' day. However, Doggy Gotcha leaves a little to be desired when you are sound asleep and toasty warm... tends to roll you out in a hurry into a damp and chilly world! lolol Wouldn't trade them critters for anything in the world...except for sometimes!

My cherry trees came in yesterday and I must get outside and plant them...I think I know where I want them but it is so awful out there today...hmm...what to do... what to do?!? Any volunteers out there??? Need some holes dug... Beautiful black cherries next year? I shoot trespassers, but volunteers are always welcome! Plenty of shovels, coffee and complaining co-workers...lolol The dogs even will help dig... They are good mole chasers too...lolol

Marv, the dear boy, is off on a trip to Vegas... He's also bought a ticket to a biggy lottery! lolol... He says if he wins he will buy me a set of brushes! The last time he won out there, he tried to send me a lobster dinner by email! When that didn't work, he shipped the lobster by Bus! Trust me, that didn't work either! Turned into a disaster and the Bus company is still trying to find the Marv...Three day old dead lobster really smells bad and boy, do the riders complain about it!

Before I go, be sure and check CCC for all kinds of fun and informative links... the theme of the day!

Well, meems has paintings waiting and some planting to do.

Take care all of mine...go in safety, live, laff, love and enjoy our world! hugs and love... meems

Well, get in here and get dried off! Another dark and dreary day...Raining and ceiling is below my altitude somewhere...Frogs are singing...the dogs are looking for something to amuse them...the little back porch wren fussed at me...I think I will head for the vanilla bottle! Cover diving is looking good too!

Mr.A is playing on the road again...

Anna is stuck in the house because of the rain. Becky is at work...I think I am just a hair bored...horrendous thought! My brain, when in a state of boredom, can be a very dangerous thing!

This is terrible! Nothing going on...even the Newbie is behaving for a change.

Well, shoot...Meems is gonna go back to bed!

Take care all of mine! hugs and much love, go in safety... the meems

2008/14/05 0945 HRS...

Well, kids, get in here, close the door, grab some coffee and try to get warm...It's the kind of weather that just freezes me to death... Says 60o out back but I just know it is colder! No sun, gray clouds, damp, dank and chilly! Sounds like a good day to go cover diving with the clan...

Yesterday was gorgeous! Magnificent day even though Eons was having a fit of the glitches! Sheesh, I finally gave up, didn't write the News. Did decide to go out and sprinkle some more flower seeds around the pond.

I checked to see what was breaking ground...oh boy, lily of the valley just getting ready to bloom...Old fashioned snow ball bush blooming and sending up new shoots...More old fashioneds...Flag/iris...cat tails are greening up...Lily pads floating (no blooms yet)..AND,TA DAH! The peach tree on the west side of the house is going to bear fruit!

I am gonna be rich! I have all of ONE peach developing. lolol I am thrilled to death.. and cracking up... I watched it bud, lovely pink blossoms..then I watched as the late two day freeze burned everything. Always remember one peach is much better than none!

Oh here is a word (or two) of wisdom from the Boss! ... "A pound of pondering is worth a ton of thoughtlessness".
I have no comment here!

I discovered I have a little house wren nesting in the cupboard on the back porch. Noisy little critters when the young hatch! But so much fun to watch..and heart warming to know they feel safe.

Newbie is trying to help me type here! Shoo Newb's, git! Gee whiz... nope, he wants in my lap! This ain't gonna work! Oh dear! lololol doggy hugs and kisses and bath time for the meems... wait! Aaaccckkkk!

Well, I am out of here before I end up on floor with 90 pound critter sitting on me... lololol

Take care all of mine... laff, love, enjoy, act silly once in a while... it will do you good... hugs and much love, dear hearts...the endangered by a very large dog, Meems.... go in safety.

2008/12/05 1100 HRS...

Well, gee whiz, where do I start this morning?

Welcome home, my dear hearts, welcome home...Looks like it's gonna be brunch today! How bout omelets and rolls, and blueberry muffins and what ever else I can come up with?

I rolled out fairly early but I've been on a down hill slide ever since...Marvin is already complaining mightily about the News not being ready for him this morning! Have no idea where the boy is...this I DO know, him is definitely in hiding...Good idea Brat!

And Meems is staying close to the FOS (fall out shelter) myself... Pat says she is gonna get me for the skunk story... Meems pleads innocent and the fifth! Al made me do it... honest he did! lolololol Would these lovely green eyes lie????? Oh yeah! I am having the best time...I really am!

Now, yesterday was a slightly different story for me with the Newbie. The storm gods were really playing games over and around the house...Big time! Newbie was asleep on back porch...Wind blew over a heavy gate and the step ladder...must have landed on the Newbie and scared the living daylights out of him...Newb's disappeared and was gone until dark last nite... All the time he was gone, I worried, fretted, got soaked when I walked the property and checked the road. He was one unhappy scared puppy when I let him in...Wanted to beat him to a pulp for scaring me so badly but didn't! lolol Them big brown innocent looking eyes of his just make my heart melt!

Would you believe the Boss sent me a 'Newsflash' this morning? Stated: Dogs don't like it when things fall on them! Nah, really? lolol Ya suppose?

I have to tell you that he loves Becky, my good friend. Beck came out to visit last week. Poor lady, she had to go through the 15 minute pack greeting at the door... then we came back here to visit and gossip...lolol the pack greetings continued..Finally everybody got bored and went back outside... except Newbie! Newbie decided he was in love...With Beck's shoes of all things! He absolutely tried to con her with those big eyes, chewed on her toes, sweet talked her...Beck, however, just ignored him and kept right on talking! I don't know how she could talk and keep a straight face...I was crackin up...lolol I let her handle the situation, she has dogs and cats too... lolol...All I can tell you is..You can chew on me anywhere but my feet...that absolutely drives me crazy!

Newbie also tried to steal her cigs too... yup, she and I are both baddies... we smoke...Newb's couldn't get hers so he stole mine...Found them on the kitchen floor.
Silver paper carefully removed, all 20 filters showing and not one of the cigs damaged... Now how did he do that???? You don't suppose dog is smarter than meems? Don't answer that...lololol

Anyway, I am off to a new adventure today, I am positive of that!

Dear hearts, love, laff, giggle, be silly, venture out into a new world daily. Take care, all of mine... go in safety always...love and hugs... Meems

HERE YOU GO, BEAR... BE READY TO RUN FOR SAFETY!

2008/11/05 0900 HRS Mornin' JD Sr....

Mornin' everybody, welcome home dear hearts, welcome home. Come on in, have a seat, grab some coffee and be at ease.

I am still trying to recover from two days of non-stop near fatal hysterics! I have laffed till I cried, couldn't breathe, couldn't move, rolling on the floor, screaming, pounding fists, kicking heels and generally acting like a person who had totally lost it...which I had!

First of all, Marv, my buddy? my pal? tried to play a joke on the meems which backfired on everybody involved! That was Friday...I got tickled and that started the down hill slide with no safety belt! I am not going to give the boy a hard time today... He already has umpteen pple waiting to get a hold of him... Meems is just gonna sit back and watch...lolol Oh yeah, and meems is gonna really enjoy watching the bits and pieces of the Marv flying all over the net! (Just as long as I don't have to clean up the mess!)

That evening, I was wandering the net groups and ran into an Eons friend...Who I shall call Pat! Well, I was glad to run into her in a near-by chat box. I, being the polite person I am, greeted her warmly...Pat responded with a HELP! Need I mention that I am soft hearted (and headed)and always willing to help another soul in need?
I, of course, asked what the problem was. She explained and I immediately fell on the floor! Hysterics was not what she was looking for...lololol

Let me digress (a KK word again) for a moment...

Many moons ago, I had a pet skunk who was appropriately named Peach Blossom...Purty little critter who had no taste in men! She liked my ex! Oh well! No accounting for taste (Thank you Capt Kirk!)

Now Peaches had the most interesting personality..and her dietary wants were simple but demanded! Dog food, ice cream and black cherries...and not in that order. She loved our german shepherd, Painter...the two of them would spend hours on the floor in the little TV room...
Painter flopped on his side, Peaches on her side but scratching Painter's back... Doggy heaven, I suppose cause that dog sure did grin and groan!

Where am I going with this!?! OH...Peaches was a charmer until/unless she was really upset! I saw that little critter dance, stomp feet, tail up, charge, slide to stop, scream and generally thro a hissy fit when a strange dog was brought into the house...I observed closely and decided that it was best not to interfere and the poor dog was scared to death! Peaches really showed her who was boss right away! And I learned some serious survival in the wild lessons!

You know where this is going, don't you??? Giggling again!

Now, back to Pat...Well, it seems she took the trash out to the garbage can...around dark maybe? Yup, she ran into a poor little critter who was minding own business and scared it! Can you imagine? Call the skunky welfare people and report her! Trust me, basic rule of thumb here is NEVER EVER scare a little wild skunk... they have a tendency to react without thinking. Sorry, still giggling! In between bouts of hysterical laffter, I told her the good news/bad news...good news about removing odor from clothes and body... Bad news-odor is in nostrils and sinus cavities... she would, all by herself, retain the lovely aroma for several days! Pat didn't think my humorous reaction was all that funny! Back room of house, her clothes and herself smelled really bad! She wasn't too sure hubby would let her in bedroom! lolol

She begged me not to tell this... I pondered for a while and almost decided not to do this evil deed to a really nice person. However, when pushed by a mutual friend to write this up, I could no longer resist the temptation! Pat honey... Blame our good friend and no count Brat, Al, for today's story! He dared me and I just couldn't say no! I know this will come back to haunt me but I am still crackin up!

PS all...In a skunk encounter... stand still, do NOT panic, speak softly and soothingly to the little critter. It will eventually wander away and not bother you! Well, it works most of the time any way...Still rolling on the floor!

Take care, enjoy life, love, laff, tease and share the good of each day! Hugs to all of mine... meems, the bad!

2008/09/05 1145 HRS Mornin' JD Sr....

Well, Kids... I had planned on having the News out in a timely manner today but it just didn't happen...Got side-tracked by The Marv who, when I get my hands on him, will suffer grievous bodily harm! Do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT get in the line of fire...I will explain further in a day or so! OMG! What am I going to do with him...I cracked up and fell on the floor laffing...But the boy does love me! lololol Pay backs are a bear Brat! oh yeah!

(Anyone who is having problems re-entering the TGG send me a pm right away and I will fix it!)

Now, the Boss man has 'Inspirations' as a theme for the day in CCC. I have pondered on what inspires me and have come up with the following:

To clean windows and glass doors---Doggy snuffle marks when I can no longer see through the glass.

To rake the floor---Fall out from Newbie who seems to have more than his share of lint and fur.

To do the laundry---because I can no longer get down the basement steps.

To call grasscutter---because I find I am knee deep in uncut grass and it ain't gettin any shorter. The rain ain't helping either!

To move the pick up truck---and aim the back end down slope because the bed is full of rainwater.

And the last for the day but not the least---Get a hold of Marv and thump upon him! Oh, this will give me such great pleasure! Cannot wait! Talk about your rumble in California...earthquake will seem minor! lolol

I will save my latest Newbie story for tomorrow... lolol

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home...take care and go in safety all of mine...hugs and much love... Meems

2008/08/05 1325 HRS. Hello JD Sr...

Sheesh, kids... Gonna have bad weather coming in today. the bottom if falling out of the barometer... gentle rain falling at the moment and the air is dead still.. and MeSneaky has been playing dodgems with tornadic wx in Arkansas for the last couple of weeks... another round is coming in today and tonite for her.

The News is very late today cause I slept late... I was up overnite again with the dogs alarm barking...This is the fourth nite in a row and I had finally had enuf of the prowler, who I believe is my psychotic neighbor, playing hide and seek... I rolled out of bed, grabbed the .22 and went out on the back porch... watched the dogs and then fired a round to the southeast of the house. This was at 0430 this morning. I waited a while...didn't hear any more...came back in and went back to bed. If the idiot keeps his same patterns, I won't be bothered for at least another two weeks...for anyone new to the News, this is a long, ongoing and complicated story but absolutely true. Let's just say that Mr. A cannot seem to understand the word NO!

Well, let me see here... Oh, Marv asked me a question which has set me to pondering...(Marv is my buddy, pal and friend who lives in California. We argue, fuss, tease, torment and play gotcha on a daily basis and I love him dearly) But I digress (picked that up from KK) lolol..

Back to question...(paraphrasing)Do I get many hits/comments on or about the News? Well, no I really don't. However, I don't expect any. I do know that my friends read it because at sometime during the day, one or more will make a comment in a pm or email. Marv almost always makes a funny remark on the blog page. KK does..I get so tickled... usually the comments are in rebuttal to my gotcha's... lololol and THAT is what makes the News fun for me! On several occasions, I have received pm's from complete (to me) strangers who have been reading all along. I am always pleasantly surpised by the pm's... and it makes my day to receive one.

If I can lighten someone's load, help ease the loneliness, the hurt or the sorrows, that's all I ask. Did something I write make you smile or maybe giggle? Have you enjoyed your visit into my world? Your visit to my mountains? My life? I live quietly but I am very seldom bored. Thank goodness...

I would like to add that my main purpose in writing was to reach out to mine... My gals and guys, my veterans, active and non-active... To my Dear hearts who have kept us safe and sacrificed so very much. Welcome home, my dear ones, welcome home...

Take care all of mine, go in safety always, hugs and much love Meems
