2008/19/06 0900 HRS...
Wowser, it is gorgeous today... Come on out back and set for a spell... Porch is closer to the food and coffee but the waterfall at the pond has the lovely falling water sounds...Either one is so calming and peaceful... well maybe, except for the dogs...The Newbie has been at it again!
So far this morning, he has eaten and shredded another pillow, eaten a chair leg and chewed up a plastic bowl. He has chewed on my arm... bumped the swinging chair...rearranged two throw rugs and my life style! Don't know if I will survive this critter's growing up or not...LOLOL But then again, if he grows up too much, it might get boring around here. However, I don't see the 'boring' setting in any time soon. I always tried to stay one step ahead of my kids and pretty well managed. Newbie outsmarts me every step of the way! I am always amazed at what he gets into...The boy is a genius at getting into trouble and then sweet talking his way out of it! Wouldn't have him any other way except for sometimes! Oh yeah!
I can't imagine, when I have 5 other dogs, why I spend so much time talking about Newbie. China, big red dog, half lab and half St. B, is a sweetheart...gentle and motherly...Spudley, a mix of Pit bull, beagle and basset, is feisty critter. He is the alpha male of the Six Pack (thank you Donna for the name of the group) but he loves the emom with all his heart...and he is all heart...He takes care of the smaller members of the wrecking crew whether they like it or not. Gets them down and tickles them...truth, so help me... I just watch and get to giggling... I am so happy here in my mountains.
Well, let me see here... Just got a card and pic from Carol in Iowa...She is Little Jake's long suffering wife... Gotcha lj! The picture is of the quilt she made for her grandson..Now there is another g'son in the offing and a new quilt to be made for this next one. If I can figure out how to copy, paste and do whatever it takes, I will try to post the pic of her quilt in CCC and in IOWA (a new group started by the Boss) but I ain't gonna promise nothin! I am so bad at puter stuff.
Oh, must mention that Annie's puter is in Comphosp. Don't know how long she will be off line. All I know is she posts the most delightfully funny stuff in all her groups. Get back in gear, lady, and as BG says, "Ramp it up!"

Welcome home, dear hearts... welcome... lunch time! Western omelets, two kinds of soup, toast, crackers, hot coffee, tea and good company.
Come on in and set a spell...relax and enjoy the company. Not much going on here in the mountains today. The weather is fantastic and I think I have a serious case of Spring Fever...It's cool, the sun is shining and white puffy things are running around up there with a beautiful blue background...All is right with my world!

Coconut Wireless to Emom’s Mountain News…Newsflash on BBB (Bamboo Bulletin Board) this a.m. read as follows. WEDNESDAY…Local Mountain Woman spotted sprawled on front porch in relaxed meditative mode. Seems that road Work Crew, under the direction of adult (still teething) dog, has been disturbing woman's somewhat sporadic, yet stable piece of mind. Heat, humidity, power on...power off, possible snake sightings, and rowdy Wrecking Crew behavior, have almost spun woman into wild flower world where beauty and comfort abound. The Six Pack Doggie Wrecking Crew has sent out a Prayer Collection Request for cooler days so Local Woman can regain her normal loveable composure...sort of...not always...well most of the time.

Just this morning, I received info that people are asking KK if she and I are sisters. Now, this is a most interesting premise...Sisters?...I don't think so! Sisters under the skin maybe, very good friends and heartwarming adverseries...Hmmm! After pondering this info for all of two minutes, I decided it doesn't matter if we are related by birth. We have a good time, we pester, tease, torment, play a mean game of gotcha and she threatens to get me with a bar of soap! I do get a little rowdy with my speech habits on occasion! Oh yeah! lolol Do I ever?!?
KK also keeps me up past my bedtime (she denies this) and she has drug/dragged me into the Gold Radio Chat room. And me, in my innocence, let her do this! The DJ there, FlyinBrian, is in cahoots with her! I just know he is! But that's ok too... I can hold my own! lolol
Last week, Brian played a song dedicated to me... HARRY, THE HAIRY APE...my alleged boyfriend. This week, on world wide radio, he played Sh..aving Cream... Song in all about falling into a pile of Sh..aving Cream...and he giggled the whole time he was doing the dedication! Meems will get even! You just wait! I threatened bodily harm again and he just laughed all the harder.... Have we no respect for our elders? I won't say elderly yet cause I ain't gotten there yet!
Guess that's it for the time being... I think I have stirred enuf Sh..aving Cream for today... lolol...

Let's go set on the porch a spell and enjoy the lovely cool breezes! There's donuts,(chocolate icing) and blue berry muffins and biscuits and and... just help selves. Y'all know where everything is in here.
What a relief from the heat and humidity and all of 70 degrees! I can't believe what a difference a few hours can make up here on the mountain! I am in a much better mood this morning! I don't get along with high temps and humids... nope, no way! My charming personality can disappear in a heart beat when it gets too hot! lolol
Newbie, quit! OFF! OUCH! GET OFF! Anybody want a rowdy no account dog? Stop! OOOF! Wait a minute! Newbie! Aaaack! Now quit! Shoo! hang on a min... sheesh! he loves to push the emom around in this swinging chair! GO AWAY! Kissy, kissy all you want, Newbs... there ain't enuf room in this chair for the two of us! Newbie, by the way, is still teething. He's chewing on a leg of the only regular chair in here... BUT! the back walls are still standing...!
Sorry bout that! Newbie does have a sense of humor and the ridiculous! Just part of his charm! And did you know that Pmacphoto has the same kind of critter... check his profile and you will see a photo of a large white four legged critter standing next to his partner! WTG Pmac! Ain't them cute puppies? lolol
Oh and thanks to Davida** for a post in VNV - Pmac has found a group of vets who served aboard the Kitty Hawk...

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home! Let me get this stuff out of the way first! I am grumbling! Work crew out there early this morning... Started working in the area opposite my bedroom...
Now I know that digging a ditch sounds like a fairly straight forward thing... Trust me, up here it ain't! There are curves, culverts, steep slopes on the high side of the road and drop offs on the low side. Steep hills with BIG slabs of rocks which need to be removed.
Then you must consider the wild life around here. When you start playing in the rocks, ya run into them little pied (patterned) critters called copperheads or rattlers. I need to be extra careful outside...Even tho I am not afraid of snakes (I've had two boas and my son had a python), disturbed copperheads or rattlers are always grumpy and them do have big teeth. Of the two, I am more leery of rattlers... them critters have no sense of humor at all and definitely no respect for the elderly! This is not the time to give close inspection to the flowers.
Flowers... I have old fashioned black hollyhock blooming...beautiful shiny purple-black blossoms... Bright orange wild tiger lilies... and yellow daisies all abloom. The purple butterfly bush is growing well and finally casting some shade on the waterfall. The ferns have unrolled in the same area. Not one of these cost me a penny! They were all growing wild.
Down here in the mountains, there are several things you do not do! The biggest no no is trespassing! If you ask nicely, and the property owners trust you, you can usually get permission to take starts of plants, flowers and even trees from their land. If you find a gate open... you leave it open... Closed? Open, go thru and close gate behind you. Leave nothing behind...not even a cig butt...
Because of the kindnesses of the locals to me, I now have iris, agave, ferns, jonquils, burning bush, narcissus, mimosa, poplar, sassafras, thyme, russian olive and various other shrubs growing around the house. Ground cover? Wild white and blue violets, blue forget-me-nots and other wild flowers I don't know the names for.
I have been given starts of ivy,(wrap in moss, shove into the rocks of waterfall, ivy will root...plant the following spring), starts of a variety of hostas, black eyed susans, gee... I can't think of all the different plants that have been given to me. I love them all and I enjoy just walking around to check on my 'babies' as often as I can.
Guess I could keep going forever about the land and my mountain... However, the work crew must be taking a break and meems wants to take a nap! lolol

We all know that meems sits in a swinging chair at the puter. We also know that said dogs play Gotcha, Doggie Tag and You're It and generally rough house around the emom's feet. Well, guess who has invented a new game to relieve the boredom?
Well, shoot! You guessed... I could hear the chorus of "Newbie's" coming in over the net!
The Newbie has learned/invented a new way to play tether ball! I was sitting here yesterday fighting with puter over some malfunctions. However, I was minding own business when the swinging chair started to dance and sway! With me in it! Now we all know that dancing chairs are not conducive to good typing or for that matter, thought processing! Dancing chair aside, my nether regions were also taking a beating! I looked down and there on the floor below me was the Newbie... on his back...batting at the chair and my bottom with his front paws; just a grinnin' for all he was worth! Talk about your scary sight! Tongue hanging out of mouth, all his huge teeth showing and laff/panting like crazy! Too funny...He was having the best time! Love that dog!

What can I say?!? Power has been off/on/off and now on again in the area. (Rumor has it that the copper thieves are 'doing their thing' again.) It's 93 out there but we do have a slight breeze from the east and the air is dryer.
Keep our dear ones to the north and west of me in your thoughts. The weather has really been rough for them and the flooding is not over by a darn sight! There is also a great danger from fire and explosions with flooding!
Methane, a highly explosive naturally formed gas, lurks in the soil and expecially in the sewer lines. Water soaked land and water filled sewer lines expell large amounts of Methane... If you should smell a foul odor in or around your home, LEAVE IMMEDIATELY...DO NOT USE PHONE! Go to a safer location, then call the fire dept immediately from the safe location...

Sheesh, I am still killed from last evening's trip to the grocery... and my bank account will never survive the new prices...Wowser! Poor Grasscutter! He came out to do the driving and toting for me. I forgot what day it was (the middle of the week) Wednesday! He kinda got on me for not remembering when he said he'd be out... I just told him that he was lucky cause last week I lost a whole day... I think it was Thursday! Does anybody know if we get credit anywhere for a lost day? Just a question to ponder...lolol
Went outside and talked to the Boss man of the of the water crew. Dogs babysat with heavy equipment that's parked across the road... meems gonna have city water out here... meter pit will be on my side of the road! Yes! Any way, I asked for all the big rocks they might find along the way...lolol... and Kenny, the Boss, said they would take care of it for me! Wowser...Meems loves rocks! Oh yeah... I now have turq colored pipes all over the place... and to think I was afraid I might be bored out here! Never gonna happen! This is too funny! The Newbie has taken over command of the work crew and seems to be the kind of boss that micro manages! Boy, are those guys in for an interesting day! I absolutely have the giggles! I should just go sit on the front porch and watch...lolol...
Now then, we get to the Marv and the Vtol! Well, Marv has finally made it into the big time... Has rec'd his humor badge!!! I'm never gonna hear the end of this one! My poor long suffering ears! Any how, Brat! meems is so proud of you! You got your well earned badge without being banned from Eons! Now that is an accomplishment! WTG Guy! PS, the brat went out a bought a new car! Was there prize money with that humor badge? Just asking! I think there's a gotcha in there somewhere too!
Yesterday was Vtol's birthday...Me being the nice person I am (ahem!) I sent him a birthday cyber gift! A cammo ball cap to keep him or his dog invisible. Well, naturally, he replies with a lovely little note saying he is in Melbourne Australia! What? Melbourne? Not only has he been banned in Boston for his humor, he's now banned from the NA continent? ? ? Well, no, I guess not, he's working on a newly designed plane.
Sweetheart that he is, he is trying to find new critters and or pets for the meems! Yesterday he offered to send a Great White for the pond! Since Mr.A, the bad neighbor, is injured and out of action for the time being, I declined the offer of another mouth to feed. Seems that Vtol is impelled to send me a critter!...Next offer was a 6 foot croc! I don't think so! Feed either one of these two critters and they WILL grow, and grow and GROW! Anyway, I think KY has a law against alligators in your back yard ponds... Don't know about crocs or great whites tho... have to check into that!

Well kids, the Marvin is in trouble again and this time he has a partner in crime...Flyinbrian! Trust me, they are in harms way from the emom!
Basics... Marv with all his charming abilities posted a photo of an orang utan (man of the forest) to be meems boyfriend...Per Marv, Meems likes 'em strong and hairy. No problem! Now then, FlyinBrian comes along and sees this 'new boyfriend' of the meems posted in the public venue. Well, FlyinBrian sees the perfect opportunity to pay back the emom for numerous gotchas! Who me? she says batting eyelashes!
Brian, who is a DJ on a Golden Oldies radio station, has the aha light bulb flash in his brain! Granted it aint the brightest bulb in the pack, but it's an idea none the less. Idea... Play song dedicated to the emom and her new boyfriend... Thoughtful of the Brian, sweet? kind? I DON'T THINK SO! The brat played song titled Harry, the hairy ape to the WHOLE WORLD last nite and dedicated it to me with the explanation of Marv's part in the gotcha!... Golden radio goes all around the world and has a chat room...Meems was in the lobby chat room when this event took place! Are you allowed to threaten bodily harm to a dj while he is on the air! Didn't matter... I threatened mayhem anyway! Haven't been banned yet but is only a matter of time!
And then there is my pal, KK... she was no help at all! She went looking for me and checked with brian... Brian told her meems was misbehaving... Can you imagine this nice lil ol lady misbehaving? Nah! Not me! Meems is telling a whopper here... lolol you just betcha I am!

Normally, I don't think about the next day's News... but for two days now... the thought of 'never again' keeps popping into my brain... Never again a wolf singing in the mountains, never again the squirrels and crows fussing at strangers in the woods... Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home... It's cooler today, only 80 deg. That is a blessing in itself! I still have wall to wall dogs... Seeing is believing in their minds... lolol
Just got off phone with Natl Weather Service in Jackson, KY to give them the latest on the damage around here.. Had terrible lightning storm over nite...I was above the cloud deck again and in the active lightning layer! At 0220 hrs, I watched the Storm Gods playing with Thor's hammer in the creek behind the house. I was IMPRESSED!
A straight line wind took down Anna's oldest apply tree... no saving it. Trees down across her creek and debris all over. All are safe tho...
Well, let me see here... Newbie! Oh dear... the Newb's and the Spudley got into it again the other day... Not as serious as the last time... Newbie ended up with a bloody nose, literally! and I ended up with a scrape on the leg! Sheesh...
This is the one that keeps me near the FOS! KK has gotten involved in politics...Appears to be helping Kermie with his campaign... at least I think she's helping. We shall see come election time...I certainly am not going to hold my breath waiting for the outcome!
Marvin, the dear boy, is throwing a fit again! I changed my profile page background! He wants to know if that is the real me! Well, the last time I checked with the clan, I am still me...Depending on your point of view, this could be a good thing or a bad thing! lolol He's not too happy with my email design either... But that's ok... I like the fall colors for my emails...
Before I forget again... I wish that mine would post more photos... especially in WHVV and VNV. Keep in touch kids...
