The most eloquent prayer is the prayer through hands that heal and bless.
- Billy Graham

Learning to Wait

You might remember comedian Yakov Smirnoff. When he first came to the United States from Russia, he was not prepared for the incredible variety of instant products available in American grocery stores. He says, “On my first shopping trip, I saw powdered milk – you just add water and you get milk. Then I saw powdered orange juice – you just add water and you get orange juice. And then I saw baby powder, and I thought to myself, “What a country!”

I know what he means. I once saw a novelty item - it was a can of dehydrated water. The instructions read: Open can. Just add water.

We live in a world that craves instant gratification; instant satisfaction. Just add water. Ready to eat. Cooks in one minute. No need to wait.

One old story tells of a judge who questioned the defendant. “What are you charged with?” he asked.

“Doing my Christmas shopping early,” replied the man.”

“That’s no offense,” said the judge. “How early were you doing this shopping?”

“Before the store opened.”

Few of us will go to those extremes to satisfy our desire to “get it now,” but we know what we want and we wish we could have it yesterday. We don’t like to wait.

Yet waiting is a discipline we have to learn if we’re to be happy. Whether we learn to delay gratification or simply learn to be patient, we can’t live well without learning to wait.

There is certainly a place for decisiveness and action, but there is also a place for patience. Have you learned when to wait?

  • Wait for guidance...learn to be still.

  • Wait for wisdom...it will come with experience.

  • Wait for growth...it happens in the fullness of time.

  • Wait for the sunrise...there will be another day.

  • Wait and be contented...it is a secret to inner peace.

There is a time to act, but there is also a time to wait. Learn to tell what time it is - great things can happen for those who learn to wait. Ralph Waldo Emerson said it well: “Adopt the pace of nature; her secret is patience.”

Yes you!

Let today be a day to spend time alone in nature. Take a walk as far from the hustle and bustle of society as you can. Walk near trees or water if it is possible.

Depression : how to battle it

One of the biggest and most common problems faced by the youth today is depression. At an age where you should be living the magical moments of your life fully and enjoying your youth .. people often fall into the grip of depression.

Depression is a very commonly used term .. a very loose term. Some people may just lose their favourite pen or something insignificant and fall into depression. Some people on the other hand are facing life threatening problems like The Syrians who are also facing depression.

Everybody has problems and
Every problem has a solution.

The best way to battle depression is to look at the positive aspects of any situation. Whenever you feel depressed just sit down close your eyes take a deep breath and try to find out the root cause. Then figure out whether this root cause is significant enough to ruin your day and mental health. 90% of the time you will realise that there is no actual reason to be depressed about. People around the world are going through a lot more. You should feel happy that you are so blessed.

Dependency causes depression. Be content with yourself and who you are. Stop thinking about what other people might say or think. Love yourself. Often people are depressed when someone else passes some comment on them. Take their opinions as a feedback not a judgment.

Depression is a very heavy term. Don’t fall prey to it for problems which often can be handled in may ways.

Try to maintain a positive vibe and aura of calmness around you. Share your problems with your loved ones. Writing down also often helps.

Whenever you see someone else sad or down .. try and reach out to him or her. Extend a helping hand. Good karma always comes back to you.

Being sad or feeling low is a part of life. Acknowledge this. Accept it.

Whenever you feel low do something that you love maybe singing , dancing , writing and the like.
Enjoy your live to the fullest.

Love yourself . Speak yourself . Be YOU!!!

If you always think of blessings….

Your mind is a magnet. Thoughts get attracted to it everyday.
If you always think of blessings, you attract more blessings.
If you always think of problems, you attract more problems.
Always keep good thoughts & speak good words…. so that you attract them always.

May your spirit soar throughout the vast cathedral of your being.
- Jonathan Lockwood Huie

Fire in the Heart

The teacher quizzed her class: “He drove straight to his goal. He looked neither to the right nor to the left, but pressed forward, moved by a definite purpose. Neither friend nor foe could delay him, nor turn him from his course. All who crossed his path did so at their own peril. What would you call such a man?”

A student replied, “A truck driver!”

Let’s hope you don’t meet that truck  driver on the highway. But I have noticed that those who possesses even a fraction of that man’s passion often get where they want to go. The trick, of course, is to maintain enthusiasm.

Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel got it right when he said:

The opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference.

The opposite of art is not ugliness, it’s indifference.

The opposite of faith is not heresy, it’s indifference.

And the opposite of life is not death, it’s indifference.

Nothing will kill a dream or douse the fire of a good idea more quickly than indifference. To whatever endeavor you commit yourself, be on guard primarily against that spirit-quenching attitude of apathy.

“Each one of us has a fire in our heart for something,” says former Olympic gymnast Mary Lou Retton. “It’s our goal in life to find it and keep it lit.” What do you have a fire in your heart for? Most fires will go out if neglected - ask any camper who wakes up cold in the middle of the night. Our job in life is to discover the fire in our heart and to keep it burning. Feed it. Encourage it. Shelter it from those natural elements that threaten to extinguish it. In other words, find it and keep it lit.

Who knows what can happen?
