The Man in the Sky
Posted On 12/20/2010 05:53:45

Dark, black sky surrounds me as I travel through space.

Bright, silver stars pass by at a frantic pace.

The vast emptiness of it all holds my mind at bay,

The sights before my eyes leaves me little to say.

Light dances through the darkness from some distant sun,

The loneliness of it all makes me want to run.

Though the darkness is so final and sure,

Everything in my being seems right and pure.

Windows of life open before my eyes,

All are different but all with the same skies.

This picture of life does surround me,

From beginning to end, what was, is and will be.

I see man, dwelling in a cold, dark, damp place,

Hides and skins of animals protect him in any case.

It appears to me that I see, as the fires of life fan,

That I see the dawning and refining of man.

From simple clad bipeds of the murky slime,

To the most complexities of any time.

I see all the wars that were ever fought,

I see all the lands that were ever bought.

Nothing is kept from my eyes for to see,

And I may choice as to where I would be.

As I ponder these things deep in my mind,

I look about to see what else that I could find.

As I look about I notice the souls of man,

Coming and going as it is through the plan.

There seems to be things that I know, I know not why,

The knowledge floods my head, it fills the sky.

My soul is eternal, this fact is true,

But time is a spiral for  me and you.

Though we may slightly change the events of a day,

We are forever, over and over, here to stay.

I was once killed in a war over land,

I was once the leader of a band,

I was once the father of four,

Then there was the time I was a rich bore.

Over and over I shall eternally live,

Sometimes to get, sometimes to give.

Today I shall be the man who watches over you,

Look up, here I am, in this sky of blue.

The Happiness of Happiness
Posted On 12/20/2010 05:53:02

The sunlight sparkles across the frozen speck of ice,

A droplet of water, frozen hard, clear and nice.

The light, much brighter than the day before,

Shows this flake of ice, and billions more.

The ground, covered with frozen water of snow,

The many flakes flutter as the cold winds blow.

You look at me across the snow covered lands,

You wear a heavy coat with nice gloves on your hands.

Frozen breath escapes from your mouth, your cheeks bright red,

Once again you head up the hill with your sled.

Laughter and happiness fill all the corners of your eyes,

The snow continues to fall from the darkened skies.

The world seems to be a much nicer place,

While on your sled, down the hill you race.

After a while, both tired and wet,

You find a place, and down you set.

The happiness of happiness covers your face,

It's nice to have these days at a slower pace.

Whenever the deep south is frozen in snow,

We tend to slow down and at a crawl we go.

At times like this we know life is worth living,

And the love deep in our lives is well worth giving.

The Gift of the Knight
Posted On 12/20/2010 05:52:15

The rocks, damp and musty, dark and cold,

Have shackles and chains for a man to hold.

A man, arms outstretched, up against the wall,

Covered in cuts, to the floor does his blood fall.

He roams the world between life and death,

Soon, very soon now he could take his last breath.

What did this man do ? What was his crime?

We must look back, back through the passages of time

To see what this man so wrongly did,

A crime of passion they try to keep hid.

He once was a Knight , bold and strong,

Now he is about to die for what he did wrong.

He once was a Knight who sat on a horse,

A brave Knight of honor of course.

He rode out of the castle early one day,

The dragon of the hill he would slay.

A sword, bright and sharp, he did carry,

The sun rose high, no time to tarry.

Up the hill, in a charge he did ride,

To find the dragon, who in rocks would hide.

Through many hours the Knight did search,

Till tired, he sat , under a tree of birch.

He sat, closed his eyes for to rest,

So far in the day he had done his best.

As he sat, lightly he did sleep,

Finding the dragon, he knew would keep.

As he slept, the dragon did find

That the Knight could be taken from behind.

The dragon breathed deeply to generate a fireball,

A burning death on the Knight would fall.

The whistling breath that the dragon did take,

Caused the Knight from sleep to wake.

The fireball, spit forth toward the tree,

The Knight rolled quickly to his right, up on a knee.

The Knight, now with sword in hand,

Toward the dragon to place his brand.

The dragon once again took breath,

To the Knight he would bring death.

As the dragon spit, the Knight went to his right,

The sword, bright and sharp, he swung with his might.

The cut was deep in the dragon's wing,

Death to the dragon he would bring.

But the dragon thought he was not ready to die,

With his great legs he leaped toward the sky.

The wounded wing just would not work,

To the ground he crashed with a jerk.

A powerful leg, outstretched,  did break,

Another step the dragon the Knight did take.

But as he looked into the eyes of the great beast,

He knew in his heart he could not partake of the feast.

The dragon could harm the castle no more,

But the Knight knew he must finish his chore.

Now the Knight, chained in the dungeon cell,

His great story he could not tell.

Now the dragon flies high in the sky,

He does not know the Knight is about to die.

Through the ages the dragon would live,

His life to him the Knight did give.

The Color of Life
Posted On 12/20/2010 05:51:29

In your eyes , what is the color of life ?

Is it the deep dark color of strife ?

Black , white , yellow , red , green or blue ,

The color you see is up to you .

Look at the skin of your fellow man ,

Truly look at him , if you can .

If what you see generates hate ,

Then it may be too late for your fate .

If you see a soul that breaths love ,

Then thank the heavens above .

We were created to serve one another ,

For each man is truly your brother .

Life beats for us all the same ,

No matter the name of the game .

If your brother stumbles and falls ,

If your brother needs help and calls ,

If your brother cries out to you ,

Just what in the world would you do ?

I say to you , as I would all men ,

Pick him up and start over again .

The path

The Path

                               1-21-2001

Rocks line the path all along the trail,

It snakes along like a crocked rail.

Trees crowd around to protect us all,

Giving shade, even late into the fall.

Many feet have passed along this way,

From years gone by, up to this day.

Once a highway through the hills,

They ran for hours just by their wills.

Food was taken where it was found,

Shared and shared all around.

He was clothed by the animals he would kill,

No stores around for him to make a deal.

His home was built with sticks and mud,

But sometimes fell down with a thud.

Skins hung up to dry in the morning sun,

Life to survive was run, run, and run.

Tools made and crafted by his own hand,

He had all he needed just from the land.

A peaceful man, he liked to sit in the light,

But when he had to, he would fight.

History fills the land all around to see,

Let your spirit go, let it be.

The rocks along the path have a story to tell,

Listen closely so they won’t have to yell.

Touch the ground, feel what it has to say,

Open your soul to the life this day.

The Fireplace

We sit, hand in hand, face to face,

Looking at you, my heart starts to race,

My blood flows at a frantic pace,

As we sit in front of the fireplace.

Your lips are warm and inviting,

Everything about you is so exciting,

For you are so pretty in this lighting,

There will never be any fighting.

The music plays soft and low,

Together we sway in romantic flow,

A kiss, to me, you blow,

The room lights up, all a glow.

My love for you is so strong,

With you I can’t go wrong,

Together is where we belong,

Away from the massive throng.

Together we shall go at our own pace,

Away from the masses of the human race,

Together we shall stand, face to face,

Feeling the warmth of our fireplace.

The Face of an Angel
Posted On 12/20/2010 05:49:10

The Face of An Angel

1-17-2001

She looks out the window as the snow comes down,

Frigid and cold, a blanket of white covers the ground.

Tree limbs hang low as they’re covered in white,

Dark, heavy clouds high overhead, in flight.

Large, fluffy flakes float down from the sky,

With a light gust of wind, off they fly.

She turns, looks to the fire, tears in her eyes,

Softly, gently, silently, in her heart she cries.

A woman of strength, proud, she is upright,

Still, tears fill her heart, late into the night.

Life should be filled with laughter and glee,

Into the arms of another one should flee.

Others look upon her as one of stone,

When she looks to herself, she’s alone.

A lone soldier tracks through the snow,

He knows not where he is, or where to go.

The life he has known has been crushed,

Away from the terror and blood he rushed.

The smell of death and war covers his soul,

Away from the fight, for more life, is his goal.

The smell of blood and gunpowder in his nose does linger,

The feel of the trigger crushed beneath his finger.

The fear in the eyes of the man who died by his hand,

A man he knew nothing of, the man from another land.

In a thick, snow covered wood, far from home,

Dazed by the blow to his head, does he roam.

No one for miles yet he hears the battle in his head,

He sometimes buries his face and wishes he were dead.

Cold and shivering, not knowing, he pushes on,

Though trees surround him, all is gone.

Dazed, weak and sick, one foot in front of the other,

Visions dance through his head, visions of his mother.

He sees a time when dirty, she cleansed his face,

Cared for his every need at a frantic pace.

He opens his eyes, from what seemed like a dream,

The face of an angel, looking back at him, it would seem.

With blurred eyes and a pounding head he felt warm as in a bed,

The angel spoke but he could not hear the words she said.

She looked down at the poor battered face of this man,

She had vowed to herself to do what she can.

She held his hand, as so deeply he would sleep,

The life within, she pledged to have him keep.

Loneliness and war make for such strange time,

A lonely woman, a wounded man, both in their prime.

Her hands has cleansed his face, he has cleansed her heart.

From nowhere at all she has found the way to a new start.

He knows not of this angel with her healing hand,

He knows not of this woman deep in this land.

The wind lifts up and pushes things to and fro,

Driving this, that and others, never stopping, always on the go.

Love is sometimes buried deep within us, lost,

Never to come forth, never felt, not at any cost.

Then the wind blows, a new sense is felt,

You reach deep, the love lost, now is helt.

His eyes open, cleared from all the rest,

The angel he beholds, she is the best.

Not knowing, yet feeling, he sees her love,

He has been given what was taken, all from above.

Time will pass, his strength shall return,

Life and love, deep in his heart, will grow and burn.

The past will go the way of the wind,

Across the land, through the woods, around the bend.

Hand in hand, they sit and watch the rain,

Hand in hand, they live their lives with no pain.

Given just a tiny piece of love and life,

He has taken her for himself and made her his wife.

He looks into her eyes of blue, her face so fair,

The face of an angel, his heart in her care.

The Cave at Highland

The Cave at Highland

The snow falls upon the frozen land,

Covers the ground and the cold, cold sand.

The wind whistles through the trees,

Removing the last of the dead leaves.

A breeze blows out of the north so cold,

To venture forth one would be so bold.

A lone rider, high upon a massive steed,

Eases forward to fulfill his need.

Ancient armor adorns his soul,

As he ventures forth for his goal.

The days have past, he knows not when,

The ice hangs from the hair on his chin.

The cold digs deep into his heart,

Now he remembers not his start.

This frozen land so far away,

He and his horse begin to sway.

The howling wind continues to blow,

In the snow, their pace begins to slow.

Limbs upon the trees hang to the ground,

The beating in the heart begins to pound.

The caves of Highland  is what he seeks,

Time has past, it must have been weeks.

Deep in the caves of Highland, a dragon sleeps,

An ancient  secret is what this dragon keeps.

This rider, still a boy, comes to speak for another,

His father died leaving him and his mother.

A brave knight that had served the land,

To all in need he would lend a hand.

The call came upon him to fight the fight,

He went forth into the night.

Upon the hillside did his pray be found,

But after a long hard battle he turned around.

When it was learned that the dragon still lived,

The knight had to give all he could give.

The mercy in the heart of the knight,

Caused him to die in an unending fight.

Tortured and wiped he bleed to death,

Now the boy climbed high, out of breath.

The horse stumbled and fell on the trail,

No way to get up, no way to tell.

The boy pulled his sword, mercy to give,

He plunged it deep, the horse would not live.

On foot now he continued the climb,

He hopes to find it before the end of time.

The frozen ground made it hard to step,

He fell more than once and wept.

The dragon knew the mercy of his father,

Maybe he would help end the slaughter.

Dragons live forever, so he was told,

Unless taken down by the very bold.

The caves at Highland now so close at hand,

His heart beats hard as the drums of a band.

The brave heart of this boy, yet a man,

Cannot take this cold as in his plan.

The cave at Highland, he will never see,

The cave at Highland he will never flee.

The wind blows cold high upon the mountaintop,

The snow covers a body that had to stop.

Highland is no place for man nor beast,

But a place for the dragons feast.

The snow covers the ground and mountainside,

The wind blows hard, no place to hide.

The caves at Highland will never be found,

As the snow continues to cover the ground.

Struggle
Posted On 12/20/2010 05:47:04

The water flickers in the morning light,

Dew on the grass, left from the night.

The birds sing high up in the trees,

The humming sound of the nectoring bees.

The quiet splash from the fisherman's lure,

As he unwinds in his weekly cure.

A big-mouth bass he wants to catch,

So his rod and reel he did fetch.

He sits patiently in his boat,

On this pretty day, no need for a coat.

A tug he feels on the end of his line,

He thinks to himself, " This is fine ! "

His sure hands shake as he sets the hook,

The big-mouth bass, from the lake, he took.

The big bass struggles to get free,

He swims through the limbs of an old dead tree.

The line tangles around a branch,

As the great fish swims in his watery ranch.

The fisherman fights to get the great fish,

In his boat already, is his wish.

He pulls and pulls on the hook,

He never read this in a book.

The line so tightly he did hold,

He looked so furious and bold.

Then a look of sadness across his face,

The big fish had won the race.

The line pulled until it did snap,

Time to go home and take a nap !!!
