Love Is
Posted On 12/20/2010 05:38:54

LOVE IS

Love is,                                                                    Knowing you're with me.

Love is,

Green leaves on the tree.

Love is,

Sharing with you.

Love is,

Cloudless skies of blue.

Love is,

Holding your hand when I can.

Love is,

Spring puddles where we ran.

Love is,

The soft cooing of a dove.

Love is,

Soft fluffy clouds above.

Love is,

An early morning sky.

Love is,

Not asking why.

Love is,

Not found in a kit.

Love is,

Where you find it.

Love Around Us

LOVE AROUND US

Soft, tender, moist, wet, loving lips give a kiss,

Cupid's arrow, shot straight, did not miss.

Two hearts, with love, intertwined for life,

He, the loving husband, she, the loving wife.

Together forever, as birds in a cage,

Love is forever, at any age.

Age in their hair, years in their eyes,

Love still blooms with dark blue skies.

Their steps may be slower, but there's quickness in their smiles,

The love they share could take them yet, many miles.

Teen love flourishes in these hearts with age,

Love, strong and wild, ready for the next page.

The young, they know how love abounds,

The old, they know love is all around.

With the love they know, stronger by far,

They can reach up and touch that star.

With love all around us, there is one thing to do,

We should celebrate this love, between me and you.

Lost
Posted On 12/20/2010 05:36:56

His eyes fill with terror and fear,

As the darkness slowly grows near.

A child, alone in the woods, lost,

We must find him at all cost.

Darkness begins to filter through the trees,

The sun disappears through the leaves.

Alone and frightened, the child does cry,

He’s afraid of the darkness, the night sky.

Perils might strike at him from above,

As he thinks of his mother’s love.

In panic he races from which he came,

He realizes that the darkness is no game.

Through the woods and fields he runs,

There may be others out there with guns.

He sees a light a short distance away,

He races toward it, no longer to play.

Through the yard and up onto the step,

He cries for his mother, he needs her help.

She reaches out and hugs him tight,

He is no longer lost, lost in the night.

Looking Forward

LOOKING FORWARD

They come here from far and wide,

They come here to learn, not to hide.

Boys and girls, men and women too,

They come to learn, like me and you.

Big and tall, short and skinny,

Short hair, long hair, there are many.

Some are rich and some are poor,

But they are equal once through the door.

Some will reach achivements of great heights,

Yes, there will also be some fights.

Not all will finish in this place,

Not all will finish the educational race.

Through the passages of time some will die,

But one thing is sure, they all will try.

Some will learn the cold facts of life,

Some will live in everyday strife.

Some will party and have a good time,

Some will even learn about crime.

The days will pass into months and years,

Through hard work they will shed many tears.

Yet through all of this and much education,

We can all look forward to our graduation.

Life
Posted On 12/20/2010 05:35:23

The road is long, with many twists and turns,

In some places, along this road, the sun burns.

Around this turn it’s cold, snow does fall,

Around that curve no one answers your crying call.

There, around that bend, there is a hill,

While climbing it, there is pain you will feel.

Once you’ve reached the top, down you’ll go,

Some places, fast and steep, some places, slow.

When you reach the bottom, there is a pit,

A pit filled with water to give you a fit.

The water is deep and icy cold,

To survive this, you must be brave and bold.

Some places along the way,

You can rest awhile, maybe a day.

There will be benches for you to rest,

This road is filled with life’s little test.

Today you may travel easy and fast,

Or maybe a place to rest at last.

We all must travel this very same road,

Yet some may carry a very heavy load.

Some may travel this road with ease,

Going here and there, where ever they please.

Some will find it difficult to go their way,

Some will lay down and die this very day.

Where this road goes, I do not know,

I think we should take it easy and slow.

Left to Right

The door swings open and in steps a man,

The warm air is cooled by the turning of a fan.

The creaking sound of the wooden floor,

As he passed from light to dark, through the door.

The lady stands there with a towel in hand,

Left hand, fourth finger, she wears a wedding band.

She wipes his face, his life to share,

He sits upon an old rocking chair.

As you look around there is little to sh0w,

But there seems to be a lot to know.

This shabby little house is nothing to see,

It’s not what it is but what it could be.

A mansion, high upon a hill,

A castle, with a moot for real,

A house, with a pool out back,

A shack with firewood in a rack.

What difference is there in life,

When a man has such a good wife.

Now I pass from dark into light,

Now I pass from the left to the right.

Her hair has turned from red to a red-tinted gray,

The youth in her eyes shows through on this day.

She’s given a day with no meals to prepare,

She’s given a day with only leisure to share.

No pine cones can be found from the road to the lake,

Everything is in it’s place, no work to take.

Children , grandchildren and great-grandchildren too,

Have gathered round just to say, “We Love You “.

A covy of family and friends drop by to wish her well,

On this day where another year has fell.

Eighty years have come and gone,

She’s seen plenty right and some wrong.

She’s seen war and she’s seen hard times,

She’s seen days where she had only a few dimes.

Life can go full circle from year to year,

We all have stories so lend an ear.

You’ll hear stories of biscuits and maybe a cake,

You’ll even hear of trips that she did take.

You’ll hear of things that she made by hand,

Listen and you’ll hear the wonders of this land.

Lucile Rutledge Boyd, “Mema” to one and all,

Is always there should you happen to call.

Raise your glass in spirit to sing,

Of all the joy that Mema does bring.

J.J.

T'was the night before , so the story goes ,

Two women lay in bed , with their woes .

Giving birth , you see , is not a pleasant thing ,

Why , sometimes , they can't even hear the phone ring .

One mother gave birth to a lovely girl ,

With screams that could make your hair curl .

The other gave birth to a bouncing boy ,

Who played with his nose like a toy .

In separate worlds they grew up ,

One had a kitten , the other a pup .

One from Venus and one from Mars ,

They both came to Earth to buy cars .

How they met is still a mystery to me ,

For they don't even look alike you see .

But still they married and joined hands ,

and gave each other wedding bands .

Today we celebrate their great birth ,

Actually , it's the day they came to Earth .

Happy Birthday to you both is our plea ,

Now pay me my poets' fee.
