Anything chocolate s my favorite. Have a lot of recipes at Pinterest..one I saw today using almond flour for pie crust. I have all the other ingredients to make a chocolate pie. Will probably do some baking during Thanksgiving. Marie s holding up well..talked with her yesterday.s he's one of the strongest people I've ever known. No matter the negative or sorrow, she always sees positive. We chatted for over 90 minutes. Getting haircut in the morning. Just now logging in here late. I'll miss Susan, but have many memories to cherish.
Hello Melinda. It didn't get as cold in Concord, NC as it did where you live, but it was still a little below freezing. Today only warmed up into the 40s. We've had winter days that aren't that cold. We have an outdoor stray cat that we have fed for several years. She wanders, but she always comes back and sits on the outside windowsill of the kitchen. When we see her, we open the window and give her some dry food. There's a creek nearby when she can water.....Three hearts, one cuddle---the sweetest way to say Good Night.
Yea, figured it was time to do a different layout. I kept the caramel color from the previous layout..since it matches my pictures still. Very cold here today, but sunny. Sad news yesterday, as Marie's daughter-in-law, Susan, is in the hospital and not expected to survive much longer. She's married to Barry, who is Marie's second oldest son. She has lung blood clots, and seemingly had been diagnosed with pulmonary embolism mid 2022. Family was called in last night to make a decision by today/tomorrow, as she's been on a ventilator for 8 days now. She's 72. She and Barry became Marie's power of attorney last summer after Marie moved to assisted living. Their daughter called me yesterday morning and broke the news. I knew she had been admitted to the hospital October 30, but had no idea she was terminal. We have been extremely c,ose over the last 3 years. They're like family. My heart is broken today.
Some are starting off the new week w/snow... I'd love that! I hope they do:) Wishing you smiles today and fun plans for the days ahead, Darlene. *hugs* -di
Hi Darlene! we've decided to go ahead and start a 1000 piece Christmas puzzle, this the one we started last night:
I got it for $3.99 at Hobby Lobby, it had a damaged box, so they marked it down even lower than the half price sale for it was...it started out at $15.99, then when they put them on the 50% sale it was $7.99, I don't mind having a puzzle with a damaged box for $3.99! LOL!
And wake ready to have an outstanding weekend, dear Darlene. I agree how our brains grab stuff, we're unaware of at the time, to be part of our memories. It's like a grab bag. Are you having windy weather? They talked about it all morning how today would have gusts up to 40mph. We had nothing. I bet weather gurus spend alot of time in embarrassment. ha! Tomorrow is a run-around day so at the end of it, I'll be in my recliner w/my feet up. Talk to you the following day! :) *hugs*
Friday once again...the week was a blur. Still 70's here but a cold front blows in Sunday night thru Tuesday. Extended forecast shows yet another warm spell afterwards. Tried walking outside earlier...the stink bugs are in full force. I did cut some flowers off the snow ball bush. They make a pretty fall arrangement for kitchen table. I'll take a picture and send over shortly. Enjoy the weekend ahead.
Hi Darlene! I took a walk on the "wild side" this morninig! LOL! I took my Cassie girl to the Texas Coalition for Animal Protection (TCAP for short) to get her teeth cleaned, and if any need pulling, they'll do that too. It's a place for low income families to take their pets for medical stuff. Today was also Feral Cat spade/neuter day, they took in 12 ferals for free services, then on the 19th, they will take 75 feral cats to be spade or neutered on that day. It's on a first come first serve bases. Today was dental work day so that's why they only allowed 12 feral cats. Cassie didn't like not getting her breakfast this morning plus she'll be mad when I pick her up at 3, but her mouth will feel so much better.
Raked leaves n back yard mid day. Took 6 trips with the wheel barrow full to creek area. It looks so much better. Not completely finished, but made a dent.
Leaves have been collecting on our yard for a couple weeks, and trees aren't done sharing:) Ah! Tis Autumn. And I love it! Happy today, Darlene. My g'parent's home had a little room in back where she did washing, canning, made her own lye soap. I have their 1914 green & cream color enamel stove. The old sink in there had these spigots. I don't seem to remember things in our own house as I was growing up, but, I remember every room in their home. All was old style and I loved it:) I still can't stand mid-century modern. Hope you are having a pleasant week, dear pal. While warm this week, a freeze is coming, they say, this weekend. For you, too, I bet! Yay US! *hugs* -di
the leaves have started to fall here...not much just the beginning..but it won't be long before the yard will be covered...I hope you have a wonderful day... playing! LOL!
May God grant you a day full of peace and bright blessings!
Good morning My Dear friend…Darlene I apologize for my absence, I felt the need to be away from the internet. I hope that you are doing well… it’s hard to believe that it’s November already this year has flown by… and the Holidays will be here once again, and the fast paced begins at my job. Have a Wonderful day! Sending you lots of Love!
Hey Darlene. That's a very pretty page you have there. I sure like the sound of that maze set up in a cornfield. That would be fun. At one of the towns in this valley where I live there is a Maze with the traditional hedge. We went there once and it was a challenge. It took some time but we found our way out. At the same place they have a giant Chess Board where people are the actual Pawns/players. That’s also loads of fun.
Like you I don’t care for the dry (sour) wines and prefer the sweet or semi dry. I don’t care for the red varieties and prefer the white.
I can’t imagine pumpkin spice coffee creamer or ice cream. I’m thinking it’s a wonder someone hasn’t produced something like that here. Maybe there is and I haven’t noticed it. We have such a huge variety of flavoured ice creams. Far too spoilt:) I’m rather partial to the flavoured Latte’s, especially the Hazlenut and Mocha.
I’m thinking I may try frying potatoes with keibasa. Haven’t had it like that before. Sounds my type of food:)
Well, those storms that began on Sunday resulted in really good rains yesterday. The best we have had in a very long time. The temps fell from the 70’s on Sunday to 50’s yesterday and today. The sun is occasionally breaking through this afternoon as the rain clears off. I won’t need to water the garden for a week or two now. I was at the Scrabble group yesterday afternoon when the rain teemed down. It did a fantastic job of washing my car:). Ah well, Have a great week Darlene. ~Pat~
I hope you enjoy this first week of November Darlene...I don't know what I'll be doing...maybe just read, over the weekend, I finished the 1st book in the "Texas Promise", 5 books series by Naomi Rawlings, I guess I'll start the 2nd.
