The bird seed doesn't stay in the feeders long, but we clean them out each month. This one is in a shady spot now. I saw a hummingbird yesterday afternoon. They fly so fast, but was nice to finally realize they are here. Mid week April already. We're going up to Hampton NC on Saturday to visit an Amish store. It 90 minutes North of us. Have never been to one before.
I hope you have a wonderful day Darlene! My daughter & son-n-law are having an over night "date night" so I'm going to go stay at their house today & spend the night, to be there to give their elderly dog her daily medicienes on time...and they don't have to worry about her. I'll be back home by lunch tomorrow.
I'm feeling a little nostalgic this morning... thought I share something special to me with you...this 1st photo was taken with me and my 3 week old daughter, she weighed 8 lbs 5 oz at birth...taken at my parents house in Sept. of 1971 with a Polaroid camera.
then after 2 miscarriages during several years, God blessed us one more time, with a 9 lb 14 oz son... this photo was taken at a baseball game by a professional photographer, that was there to take photos for the local newspaper, I had no idea that it had been taken until he presented me with it...my son was about 3 months old at the time, May 1978.
Hi Darlene! well, I got through the 1st day of my new exercise commentment, and didn't die...I had saved some exercise video's for seniors off of Instagram over the last few weeks, so I started with one of those. My knee surgeon told me I needed to start doing more strength building exercises along with the walking, that would help both of my knees...it's taken me a few weeks to get my mojo up to start doing something more than looking at the videos! LOL! I've also lost 11 lbs (I've been working on that too) since Dec...why does it take so dang long to lose pounds, but I can GAIN them in a day?
I hope you enjoy today Darlene...I'm starting an exercise program today...don't know how good it'll be or if I even stick with it, but I'm determined to at least get through the 1st day! LOL!
Moved the new bird feeder to N side of house earlier today. I'll take a picture this evening after the sun goes down. We're heating up here once again..looks like 90's all week..not ready for it, but what does one do? Still hope to get some flowers planted soon..that might have to wait till next weekend. Don't have much planned other than my weekly appt with chiropractor. They're just down the road less than 2 miles. Take it easy and have a wonderful week ahead.
Some of us have been in flip-flops for weeks, ACs running in afternoon, heat in the morning. It's gonna be a long hot summer! Love your page, Darlene. Thx for your note. Wow, wish I lived where you are. We're seeing high 80s regularly already, some low 90s and records broken. Know you'll enjoy all your plants as they begin their blooms. Our spring flowers have come & gone. They were pretty, but the drought and heat sped them away too quickly. Take care, dear friend o'mine! Luvya!
Happy Weekend, Melinda. We've had so much sun and so little rain that we're on water conservation advisories for this area. We should be having more April showers to bring May flowers.
Hi Summer - Did Rick send you his new recipes - one called funeral potatoes and the other called trash potatoes.. He wants me try them.. No way.. I don't like the name of them- sounds gross.. He thinks they sound good.. The trash potatoes has a fat burly guy with a flannel shirt on and has a big fat gut.. I wouldn't eat anything he made.. Looks like he might stink! haha! Good night hugs xoxo
ha ha ha ha
This was thre funniest message ever Callisto.
You sure come out with some very funny remarks.
Yes he did tell me about the funeral potatoes, which i had never heard of.
but i did look them up and they do look ok as it happens.
but as for the others no he didnt mention those .but i like you would never entertain a recipe if the person delivering it wasnt looking tidy and clean.
You do actually tell it as it is .and it really made me laugh .ߘ
Hi Darlene! I just got to watch nature in action in my backyard, a hawk, looks like this one, was sitting on the wooden fence, I watched it scanning the yard, flew off toward the back of our house, came back with a small snake in it's beak, then flew back up on the fence, and ate that thing while it was still wiggling around! Had a tasty breakfast and one snake gone from our backyard!
Been a busy week again, but no appts today. Tomorrow, back to the chiropractor. Got a new feeder and we will be putting it up this evening. Had to order a shepherds hook for feeder. I'll get a picture of it and send over. So far the squirrels haven't bothered any of the feeders. Since we're in town, no deer. I'll message you my email.
Hi Darlene! I much rather have a cold bedroom, and use quilts on the bed, I love the feel of them on me..a throw back to when I was a young girl, when we didn't have heat in our bedrooms, (or AC either) I guess.
Hi Darlene they happened to be talking about them and i got inquisitive and was checking out videos and searches.
No matter how you serve it, it's guaranteed to be a crowd favorite!
How to Make Funeral Potatoes:
Combine the sauce ingredients–sour cream, cream of chicken soup ,
6 tablespoons of melted butter, salt, pepper and dried onion– in a bowl and mix them up.
Add the diced potatoes (you can use frozen cubed hash browns, or use real potatoes. You will need about 10 small diced potatoes, parboiled) and shredded cheese and stir everything to combine it, then pour it into a baking dish.
Crush the cornflakes (I pour them in a ziplock bag and use my hands to crush them). Mix in the remaining 4 tablespoons of melted butter and sprinkle cornflakes over potatoes. Bake funeral potatoes in the oven for 40-50 minutes or until it's bubbly. and warmed through.
