SUNSHINE SAVES THE DAY
What a day it has been for one that began so cold and gray; what a day it has been, I simply wanted it to go away before it even started but it simply wouldn't leave. I was stuck with it; it wouldn't leave it wouldn't go away.
I didn't want to face the gray with the sun behind the clouds; But I stepped outside and looked around and decided to give it a shot anyway.
So I reached into the gray for a sunny tune, one to distract my mind away from all the gray of the day and hummed a happy tune. I sang a few bars of "Here Comes the Sun," and pretended it was there. And I found some yellow irises and some golden buttercups, some yellow dandelions and some yellow daisies too, and put them in my pocket and carried them around with me while I hummed my happy tune.
By the time the day was over the gray clouds had gone away, the sun had arrived and the clouds disappeared, blue skies replacing the gray whatever raindrops were left upon the rose petals in the garden glistened like rhinestones in the afternoon sun.
And I was happy again; all the sadness had faded away thanks to the golden flowers and the sunshine of my day.
What a Day!

  DANCING WITH MIDNIGHT'S MUSE
Another moonless night,
loud silence interrupting thoughts and emotions streaking across darkened nighttime skies and beyond, sleep and moonlight dreams elusive once again, questions, doubts once again uninvited yet breaking through cracks once thought impenetrable, tightly sealed.
And I find myself once again
reaching into the darkness for those words that sometimes dance across the stage at midnight's hour just as the music, once silent, finally begins to play, melodies loud and soft, cadences at once jolting and soothing as they begin to awaken my heart.
And as they begin to dance
across the darkened stage, my thoughts finally surrender to the night, on that stage where nighttime dreams and fantasies of day rendezvous at midnight's hour and lead me along in their dance, words and emotions released for a time, thought within thought, layered concentricities, fragile transparencies, heart songs released and lifted upon a breath, sweet sleep finally leading my faltering steps toward sunrise and a new day, as, joining with them, I dance toward the light, hand in hand with Midnight's Muse.

I listen to the hues and moods of the ocean.
I listen to the golden rays of the sun balancing once more upon the far edge of the day.
I listen to the eloquent silence of the sunrise.
I listen to the raindrops falling.
I simply stop for a moment and listen.

Having just returned from a "vacation" . . . .
ON VACATION
It's the place I visit often, every season, every day a place where I can wander, a place where I can play; where I can stroll among the golden poppies and fields of lavender; where I explore the caves so dark and deep and scale the tallest mountains so I can get a better view.
It's that place where I can ponder the questions that I have about life and love and all manner of things and debate them endlessly with no one to argue back. It's my pensive place, my quiet place, that place where I can think and be myself both night and day, among the rainbows and butterflies and songbirds as they sing.
And regardless of the season, the vacations that I take are so very much the same as I seek out those places old and new, and a few within myself, that provide a measure of sweet release to the agitations of the day.

WHEN THE TIME IS JUST RIGHT
Lingering within the pages written upon my heart, some memories rather hazy, having begun to fade, remote and barely whispered, as I struggle to hear them before they slip away, memories of family and friends, events both big and small, among the treasures in the box of special moments residing deep inside.
And I find myself in that garden once again, within a single moment as the pendulum swings, anticipating what lays before me within the long shadows of late afternoon, summer green giving way to Autumn and her cloak of crimson and gold.
And on this day as evening begins to fall, I look toward that place beyond the sun where the stars still shine, where the moon is full and bright. And I listen carefully to the evening breeze as it sweeps across the waves of the sea my life transformed childhood moments tucked away to re-visit someday when the time is just right.

WITHIN
As I come once more to this hallowed place I’ve been to so often, I stop and shut my eyes for only a moment, searching for that sense of peace that’s eluded me so many times before.
And as I stop to consider what I see in front of me, suspended in this moment for just the briefest time, I catch a glimpse of tranquility and what it means to be serene.
For within the covered walkways and the shadows that surround, within the stained-glass reflections; within sweet rays of sunshine, in bursts of fragrant light, soothing to a restless soul, what I thought was lost is found.
And for a brief time my heart soars once again before coming to rest where I find myself at one with what I see.
And for just a moment time is suspended and I have once more found the peace that for so long eluded me.

TOWARD THE CENTER: Pathways to Me
Pathways of August and summer's end have taken me once more to places I've already seen, to some I've never been, and to many I've wanted to see once again.
They've taken me through the Arizona desert to the City of the Sun; to the foot of mountain peaks where I stood and looked up in awe; to the far side of the rainbow where the tranquil waters flow; to the ocean's edge and paradise dreams and the daily miracles found in the rising and setting of the sun.
And once again the journey, these pathways that I find, lead me to places high and low, on land and sea and in the air, all leading eventually to the center where I find each time a little bit more of the me I thought I had left behind.
And the pathways of August, through Summer's End, lead me back home refreshed and renewed within the sunset's glow.

LOVE'S TAPESTRY
I can hear it still, across the expanse of time and space, Love's sweet story enduring through the years, woven tapestries etched upon the walls of my heart, threads woven with care in rainbowed colors sprinkled with touches of silver and gold.
And I see them clearly in the blue-skied images painted among the clouds of an evening sky and in the rain-forested mist of a summer's afternoon. And I see them in the passionate reds and golds of Love's garden, Nature's tapestry that quiets my restless heart as she binds it together to the tender strains of love song magic, Love's tapestry woven into the fabric of both our lives and designed to weather the storms of winter and the heat of summer.

DANCING THROUGH THE DARK
Through the tortured darkness of a somber and moonless sky love's once-sweet song punctuating the silence and peace of the night, harmonies broken and out of tune, discord shatters the quiet; only broken dreams and broken hearts remain.
But rising from the ashes of her painfully broken heart, she dances her way once more through the dark of night and into the muted glow of a suspended midnight moon toward the peace found within the quiet whispers of dawn's first breath fresh and eloquent in those moments between the night and day, where the stars still shine and last night's moon still paints the sky, suspended between a prayer and a dream, a memory that lingers for just a little while within those precious moments, before the rising of the sun.
