SIMPLE SONG OF MORNING -- CPC "A Simple Sunday/Not Your Typical Simple Sund...
Posted On 12/19/2010 03:20:30

SIMPLE SONG OF MORNING

My song of morning,
my song of day,
I can't help but hear
its simple notes,
a melody line with
basic harmonies
greeting me as
as the day begins
and before the sun
has even had
a chance to shine.

And as this simple tune
takes on a life of its own,
and the melody begins
its morning dance
of colors bright,
in simple steps,
some words begin
to flow once more,
words that join
this morning song
and stay with me
once our morning
waltz is done.

And in the sometimes
chaos of a normal day
I recall those songs,
those simple melodies
first heard as night
met morning in a
simple tune,
in the moments
just before the dawn
when all was quiet,
no sounds at all
except that simple melody
that sang of colors
of the rainbow
and the birds
that greeted me with song.

And I smile once more
and sing that sing
from deep within my heart,
the very same song
I sometimes share,
the one I sing
to begin my day.

"Gotcha" -- CPC "Saturday Rodeo Roundup/SPLAT . . . ."
Posted On 12/18/2010 01:57:51

GOTCHA!

Time to wake up,
the snow is falling
on this frozen Saturday.
Grab gloves and jacket
boots, hat and scarf,
those special ones
Grandma knit for me.
No time to waste,
all bundled up
and heading out
the door to play.

"SPLAT!"
And it's already begun,
snowballs flying
from out of the blue.
SPLAT!" again,
as clear as day,
the sound of fun
on a winter's day.

Cold
and wet
and ice,
who has time
to care?
Much better
things to do today.
Secure the fort,
take aim again,
snowballs flying
everywhere.

And as the raindrops
fall on this very gray day,
this child of winter
hears once more
the magical sound
that snowballs make
as they fly back and forth
on a snowy Saturday
when snowball fights
were what ruled the day.

"Splat", the sound
of winters past,
another treasured
memory I keep
with others for
times like this
when I bring them out
to share once more.

I couldn't stop at just one of these.

So a Quiet/Noisy Utny (form below).

**************

Photobucket

DIN OF DAY

Daytime din of city streets,
freeway noise invading
my reverie.
Horns blare.
'Till I return
once again to Nature's
peaceful and majestic power.

TOWARD SUNRISE

Dancing on the horizon's edge,
the sun bids me good night
'till the first light
of morn
when Dawn arrives
and majestic sunrise
welcomes me to the day once more.

Holiday Joy

As bright as the lights on the tree,
their faces shine,
children gather,
holiday songs.

Photobucket

Their parents and loved ones beaming,
cameras poised,
ready to clap,
holiday cheer.

Santa and Rudolph and Frosty,
the Christmas tree,
snowflakes hanging,
holiday fun.

Violins, clarinets and flutes
make joyful sounds,
cupcakes and punch.
Such fun for all.

"With Us Always"

WITH US ALWAYS

As December drizzles
through the pre-dawn
fog of what will be
a gray day that will
struggle for even one
sunbeam through
the drops of rain,
my thoughts wander
in directions that
are always difficult
for me to contain
during this season.

And on a morning such as this,
mixed feelings find their way
into my heart once again,
as my sense of happiness
and well-being for what is
again meets that underlying
sense of loss for what was.

And while I may shed
silent tears in my heart
for those who won't be
gathering around the table
on Christmas Day this year,
I know that I will hear
their voices if I listen
very closely to the
joyful noise of
the conversation
around the table.

And as the rain
continues to fall
in the these moments
just before dawn,
I still feel their presence
in my heart and I know
that they are with us still
and that they will be smiling
and singing right along with us
as we celebrate another Christmas
around the tree and at the table.

Amid the Snowflakes

AMID THE SNOWFLAKES

Joyful sounds,
Christmas bells,
shiny and golden,
Feliz Navidad,
papered snowflakes,
holiday red and green,
white and blue.
And within one word
and a single festive note
Christmases past,
memories long forgotten
and buried beneath
intervening snowdrifts
and blizzards of this life
float one by one
into my heart
and into my soul.

And for a brief moment
I'm singing my heart
with the rest of
my classmates
as I hold that
red flashlight candle,
muted light shining
through translucent
golden paper fastened
with green rubber bands
from this morning's
newspapers.

And as the snowflakes
begin to blanket
my mittened hands,
I hear my teeth chattering
above the frigid notes
on a very cold winter's night
so very long ago.

"On the Edge of Possible" -- CPC "Wonderful Wednesday/Impossible Dream"
Posted On 12/15/2010 05:04:09

ON THE EDGE OF POSSIBLE

On nights like this,
as the moon begins
her graceful ascent
toward tomorrow
and dawn's first light,
I'm captivated by her magic,
transfixed and transported
to that place beyond myself
where dreams reside and
the gates are open wide
for the dreamer that is me.

And in this place
outside of me,
this place where
all things are possible
for dreamers like me,
I can do no less
than right every wrong;
and soothe every hurt;
and mend every broken heart;
and wipe away every tear.
I can do no less
than fix all the brokenness
I find along they way;
I can do no less than
make everything right
in a world where so much
seems so very wrong.

And on this night,
as the moon is bright,
I am once again
that child who dreams
those dreams that
are always possible
in a young child's heart
and refusing
to give them up
just because I am
no longer a child.

Celebration Joyful -- Legacy Writers "Just Tuesdays With JustJudi""
Posted On 12/14/2010 09:36:30

Celebration Joyful

Bells ring out,

the trumpets sound
the orchestra and choir
lift up their voices
and sweet melodies.
And on a very warm
Southern California afternoon
when it could be
so very easy
to forget altogether
that it is
the Christmas Season,
many hearts join
together as one,
and in eloquent
and festive song
and sound,
Christmas fills
my heart and
I am reminded
once more
that it is a
time for peace
and harmony
and joyful
celebration.
