FOREVER HOPEFUL (words and photo)
Posted On 01/12/2011 03:06:21

FOREVER HOPEFUL

Each day as I awaken,
and open my eyes,
feet touching the floor,
I’m thankful once again
for at least one more day,
this gift set out in front of me,
the hours and moments
that never do seem
to be quite enough.

But in those moments
before the birds begin to sing
and the sun greets my day,
I reflect upon words
that I read on the pages
of whatever happens to be
in front of me,
the spiritual words
that inspire and encourage,
the words of my friends,
their stories, their poems,
the words from their pens.
And through these words
I'm encouraged and looking ahead
to my own day before me
and how I'll use that time
given to me once more.

And as the sun begins
to rise up over the mountains
to the east the birds begin
the sweet songs of morning
and my heart begins to sing
along with them and I join
their melodies of morning
and I'm on my way
to open the door
and step into the day ahead
appreciating it even more.
And as I look around me,
a sense of peace fills my heart
and I'm hopeful once again
that peace will settle
within the hearts
of my family
and my friends.

LOST WORDS . . . .
Posted On 01/12/2011 03:48:00

LOST WORDS

And when there seems

to be so little to say,

no words enough

to exactly say

what I want to say,

in the way I want;

no words dancing

across the pages,

that canvas very blank

in front of me,

as I'm left searching

for the words,

the very best ones

but they're just not there,

can't find them anywhere;

the feeling quite gone,

it seems . . . .

But not giving up,

a void to fill,

as looking for a jump-start,

a bit of inspiration . . . .

So I take out my "pen"

and jot some words on the page

and begin to write quite aimlessly,

no theme or direction in mind,

just writing words upon this canvas of white

until a few begin to make some sense

to me and then some more until

I look again at what I've done

and realize that it didn't take that long

to fill that empty cup once again

and that dreaded empty feeling

of an empty page is gone

at least for now.

IN THE VERY, VERY DARK -- Blogophilia 46.3
Posted On 01/11/2011 02:36:08

These are always such fun to try . . . .

Blogophilia 46.3 Topic: "Clear a Passageway"

Bonus points:

(Hard, 2pts): feature a talking plant

(Easy, 1pt): use the word "moil" (means to labor or toil)

Final date to post: January 18th, 2010, GMT midnight

***************

IN THE VERY, VERY DARK

I thought I heard a word
as I rounded the corner
in the park not quite sure
where I was going for it
was very, very dark.
But I heard it oh so very loud,
I could have sworn I did,
a voice warning me
of danger ahead,
a passageway to clear,
a voice filled with
terror and dread.
But where was it coming from,
I just had to ask,
for there was no one there
as it was so very, very dark
just me all by myself that night
strolling through the park.

But I heard it again,
so distinct and clear it was,
as I rounded the corner
in the dark of the night.
And there they were in front of me,
leaves rustling in the wind,
and I heard them whisper loudly
as the tree called out my name,
and a passageway through
the leaves I cleared

without much moil or toil,
not much effort at all
as I carefully made
my way through there.

And I hurried home,
my adventure done,
my sojourn through the park
so vary late at night it was,
in the very very dark.

BFF # 81 -- MOVED TO MOVE -- Blogging For Fun/Gossip
Posted On 01/11/2011 01:42:25

BFF #81 GOSSIP

MOVED TO MOVE

So many things

throughout my day,

the sights I see,

what I hear people say,

and the things that they do

to each other along the way,

how they treat their fellow man

and all of humanity.

If people only knew

the power of their words,

words that could be used

in such a good way

instead of tearing others down

just to boost themselves up

above everyone one else,

to make themselves

somehow feel better,

more superior than us.

Words misguided at best

and most often so cruel,

the gossip and rumors,

the hurtful words used

to slander,

to defame,

to incite and inflame;

but for some that's simply

the name of their game.

So I when I hear their words

and see what they do,

I'm moved to move quickly

out of the way of their actions

and all of the things that they say,

and to do what I can

to help make things right

in a world where so much

seems so very much askew.

PLEASE HANDLE WITH CARE -- LWHP II "Koffee Klutch"
Posted On 01/10/2011 08:00:23

PLEASE HANDLE WITH CARE

Please handle with care

this heart of mine,

for it hasn't, you see,

hardened at all over time

and it is rather fragile,

this heart of mine.

Please handle it with care,

this heart of mine,

for over the years,

though my defenses

have come down

just a tiny bit,

I've just begun to share

the feelings and thoughts

buried so far within.

For I've managed to keep them

quite under wraps

while protecting them there

and just every once in a while

opening up a little bit

to share what's in there.

So this heart of mine,

for a long time silent and still

begins to emerge and to share

what's been put away

for a very long time

and reserved for

such times as this

and among friends

who truly care.

UNDER A DESERT SUMMER SUN (words and photo)
Posted On 01/10/2011 04:09:37

UNDER A DESERT SUMMER SUN

Temperatures rising
under the blistering
Mojave noonday sun;
red rocks standing tall
to meet the crystal blue
of desert summer skies.
Not a cloud in sight
or shade tree within view,
mile-long trains creep silently
across the desert below
as trails through the sand,
unstirred by human feet
await winter's cooler days.
And as Joshua trees
and tumbleweeds
thrive in the cloudless
stark brilliance
of a Mojave afternoon,
contrails crisscross the
desert summer skies.

ASCENDING AND AFAR -- LWHP "Sunny Sundays/Castles"
Posted On 01/09/2011 09:18:36

ASCENDING AND AFAR

Mystical magic,

crystal palaces bright

within this velvet

and moonbeamed night;

starlight glow transporting me

upon angels wings

from reality of day

to soothing dreams of night.

And I marvel at what's there

within my sight -- spiraled

stairways to the heavens above

ascending to crystalline castles afar,

to that magical realm

of damsels and knights,

of silver and gold

and other precious things.

And as I dream,

I'm that child once more

building castles of sand

under a paradise sun

when damsels and knights

were among the best of my friends

as we spent many

a summer's afternoon at play

until the sun finally set

at the end of the day.

SILVER MAGICAL -- CPC "A Simple Sunday"
Posted On 01/09/2011 03:56:23

SILVER MAGICAL

Silver screen magical
and how it used to be,
the glamor of it all
and so much bigger
than life itself
as we watched them
live and love and be all
that we really ever wanted
to be as we dreamed
big screen silver dreams
of what we would be
some day when our dreams
came true and we were
swept off our feet
just like them.
And as I recall them,
I smile,
I laugh,
I cry,
just as I did so long ago
when for a couple of hours
every Saturday afternoon,
my friends and I became
our silver screen heroines
at the matinee.

A NEW DAY COMING

By Barbara

A Cheryl's Pals Collab

Gently enveloped within
the love and the light
of a star-filled universe
of pure delight;
this feeling so sublime
a breathless hush,
a whispered sigh,
yesterday's dreams
fallen by the wayside
as holding tightly
to treasured moments
and wisps of time,
so very fragile and very fine
I look toward tomorrow
and the dreams ahead,
in awe of the splendor
in Nature's beautiful sounds,
well worth the climb
from yesterday to
today's hopes and
tomorrow's dreams,
a new day coming,
leaving yesterday behind.
