BFF #80 -- ON THE EDGE (Blogging For Fun)
Posted On 01/03/2011 08:38:50

This week's BFF #80
(Blogging For Fun)
Inspiration:

ON THE EDGE

On the verge of release
this life inside,
beyond the window,
beyond the door,
breaking through the silence,
the alone within,
emerging from the darkness
and the shadows within,
from the black of the night
to the bright light of day;
Exposing each layer
of her heart and her soul
and breaking all
of the barriers down.
And at once the haze
begins to melt away,
the view out the window
much clearer now
as step by step
and word by word,
the window that was once
so very closed shut,
opens up to a brand new world
that is waiting right there.

UNRESTRAINED: MORNING EXCITEMENT
Posted On 01/03/2011 04:13:05

UNRESTRAINED: MORNING EXCITEMENT

I heard their excited chatter
way up in the trees above,
but they blended in so very well
I could hardly see them there.

And they continued their frenzied talk
chattering there amongst themselves
back and forth across the branches
so animated they were despite
the gray and chill of the day.
I watched in awe as one by one
more came to join them there,
in those branches
high up in the trees
as I was standing there below.
More and more came to join
them and their chatter
grew and grew with each new voice,
excitement building one by one
as they gathered so high up in the trees.

And then suddenly more movement
upon those branches as the excitement grew
among the striking green feathered friends
as they took off in flight
across they gray of the morning sky,
back and forth they flew.

And finally in a wondrous flock
they headed east across the sky
and on to new adventures
and new trees in which to land
and I know that I'll be seeing them again
as soon as they come back this way.

It's always such fun to see these gorgeous parrots. I must say that this is the first time I've seen so many of them at one time. It was the most amazing sight. Hundreds and hundreds of them.

I'm glad to be able to share them with you.

Thanks always for your visits and precious comments!

UPWARD

Watching from
down here below,
streaking Stealth
across a canvas
of crystal blue
above my head,
my eye is drawn
to its path and its flight
upward and toward
a New Year’s sun.

My imagination soars
within its powerful flight,
as I watch from here below
and with it my thoughts
about the year gone by
and dreams of what
will come this way
and what the future holds.

MELTING AWAY -- "A Simple Sunday" Featuring Manuela Chatel's "Eroica"
Posted On 01/02/2011 02:42:55

MELTING AWAY

On the inside
looking out,
a spirit held captive
and hidden away
barred windows,
locked doors
holding everything in,
a world so small,
only a narrow view.

And with a new year
and a new day,
the bars begin
to melt away,
the first rays
of morning sun
streaming in
a spirit renewed,
no longer held captive,
imprisoned within,
but renewed
with the sun
in the light
of the day.

STILL DARING TO DREAM (Words/Photo)

STILL DARING TO DREAM

On this new first day
of the rest of my life,
the year having flown by
in a flash again,
or so it seems
as I look back on it,
I stand on the brink
of what lies ahead,
thoughts to think,
words to read,
things to do,
places to go,
and even
some words
to write.

So on this first day
of this brand new year
I still dare to dream
and I dare to do
what comes my way
in the year ahead
and I treasure each day
that has come before
and all the family and friends
who have crossed my path
and have been such
a blessing to me
on this journey.

And my wish for All
on this very first day
is that we continue
to Explore
and
to Dream
and
to Discover.

And for myself,
that I never lose sight
of the fact that
each and every day
is a gift and a treasure
for which I am
so very grateful.

Happy New Year!

WITHIN THIS MOMENT -- CPC AND LWHP II
Posted On 12/31/2010 03:54:31

WITHIN THIS MOMENT

Wrapped within a moment
right where I am,
I pause for a bit
and reflect upon life
as I find myself right here
between the edge of night
and morning's first light,
the moon slowly arcing
from east to the west
on her way to the dawn
and welcoming of day.

And finding myself
in the here and the now,
within this moment,
I look back and ahead
to what was and will be
and look forward to
the new day as
this canvas of morning
is painted right in front of me.

And as the sun rises,
my hopes do as well,.
hopes for peace and joy
and world understanding
and acceptance of
those things that join us
together within the family
of humanity and that peace
descend upon each one of us
and cradle our hearts
as we join hands and hearts
and step into a New Year
which promises to be
even brighter than the last.

CATCHING A SNEAK PEEK (a pre-parade photoblog)

CATCHING A SNEAK PEEK

Living where I do
it's always a lot of fun
to catch a glimpse
of what goes on
behind the scenes
as the floats
are being decorated
for the Rose Parade
on New Year's Day.

This year is no exception
as we once again
went over to see
what the nearby
City of Sierra Madre
is creating for the
big day ahead.

Approaching . . . .

What it will look like when it's finished.

But until the flowers are applied . . . .

And of course I love watching this.

Looking forward to the Rose Parade.

I'll keep you posted . . . .

~Barb~

And I'm hosting Legacy Writers II "Friday Byways With Barbara K/Along a New Year's Byway" (which is NOW OPEN).

I would invite you to visit and join and participate in this one and each one of the Legacy Writer II groups.

TO THE NEW YEAR -- Legacy Writers II
Posted On 12/30/2010 01:33:34

TO THE NEW YEAR

It's out with the old
and beginning again,
with yesterday behind me,
it's in with the new.

My slate is wiped clean,
bygones left behind,
all fires extinguished,
I'm refreshed and renewed.

Loose ends are wrapped up
as much as can be,
the few things left over
are just fine with me.

For I'm moving ahead
and I'm not looking back,
each day just continuing
to do the best I can.

It's been a fairly good year,
I can't really complain,
some ups and some downs
but isn't that always the way
life is, good and bad?

So I sing "Auld Lang Syne"
in this virtual way
while toasting the New Year
and wishing all the best
and stepping gladly
into the New Year ahead.
