Stress
Posted On 04/11/2008 07:50:11
Stress
A lecturer when explaining stress management to an audience,
raised a glass of water and asked
"How heavy is this glass of water?"

Answers called out ranged from 20g to 500g.

The lecturer replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter.
It depends on how long you try to hold it.

If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem.

If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm.

If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance.

In each case, it's the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes."

He continued,

"And that's the way it is with stress management.
If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later,
as the burden becomes increasingly heavy,
we won't be able to carry on. "

"As with the glass of water,
you have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it again.
When we're refreshed, we can carry on with the burden."

"So, before you return home tonight, put the burden of work down.
Don't carry it home.
You can pick it up tomorrow.

Whatever burdens you're carrying now,
let them down for a moment if you can."

So, my friend, Put down anything that may be a burden to you right now.
Don't pick it up again until after you've rested a while.

Here are some great ways of dealing with the burdens of life:

* Accept that some days you're the pigeon,
and some days you're the statue.

* Always keep your words soft and sweet,
just in case you have to eat them.

* Always read stuff that will make you look good
if you die in the middle of it.

* Drive carefully. It's not only cars that can be
recalled by their maker.

* If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.

* If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again,
it was probably worth it.

* It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to be kind to others.

* Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time,
because then you won't have a leg to stand on.

* Nobody cares if you can't dance well.
Just get up and dance.

* Since it's the early worm that gets eaten by the bird, sleep late.

* It's the second mouse gets the cheese.

* When everything's coming your way,
you're in the wrong lane.

* Birthdays are good for you.
The more you have, the longer you live.

* You may be only one person in the world,
but you may also be the world to one person.

* Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

* We could learn a lot from crayons... Some are sharp, some are pretty, and some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box.

*A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

Have an awesome day and know that someone has thought about you today...I did

Top 50 Kitchen Tips
Posted On 04/11/2008 05:41:57

1 To check the freshness of eggs, dissolve 30ml (2 tablespoons of salt in about 1 pint of water. Place the eggs in the water. If the egg sinks then it is fresh, if it floats then it is stale.

2 Store eggs in a carton in the refrigerator to prevent them from losing moisture, and also being tainted by nearby strong flavoured food.

3 Store eggs in the refrigerator, as they age far slower than out of the fridge.

4 Always store eggs with the pointed end down. This keeps the yolk in the centre and helps to keep the egg fresh.

5 Eggs should be brought to room temperature before use.

6 To prevent eggshells from cracking, add a pinch of salt to the water before boiling.

7 If eggshells crack during boiling add a little vinegar to the water. This will set the white

8 To prevent black rings from forming around the yolks of hard boiled eggs, drain them as soon as they are cooked. Crack the shells and run under cold water to cool quickly.

9 To make soured cream: add one 5ml spoon of lemon juice to 150ml ( ¼ pint) of single cream, stir well and then leave to thicken.

10 If you want to heat cream in a recipe, use double cream as it does not separate as easy as single cream or soured cream. Or you can use creme fraiche as a substitute.

11 Always wrap butter well as it picks up odours from any strong foods in the fridge.

12 You can keep unsalted butter in a freezer for 6 months, but salted butter for only 3.

13 Only freeze cheese containing more than 45% fat. Cheese with a lower fat content will separate and become grainy.

14 Store cubes of feta cheese in a jar. Add sprigs of herbs, garlic cloves for flavour. Fill the jar with olive oil; you can use the oil later for salad dressings.

15 When you buy cheese wrapped in plastic, remove the wrapping as soon as you get home. Then wrap the cheese tightly in greaseproof paper, this will stop it from sweating and it will keep longer.

16 Before buying grapes you should shake the bunch gently, if grapes fall of the bunch is not fresh. To store grapes, wrap loosely in newspaper and keep in the dark.

17 Citrus fruits such as lemons and oranges, should feel heavy for their size if they are full of juice. Citrus fruits yield most juice if they are stored at room temperature.

18 If citrus fruits have been stored in a fridge, microwave each one for about 4 seconds to increase the amount of juice produced.

19 The skins of bananas become slightly flecked when ripe. Freeze bananas in their skins, wrapped in cling film for up to 6 months. Eat them whilst still slightly frozen, or mash them and use in baking or drinks.

20 To check the ripeness of a melon, hold it firmly in both hands and lightly press around the end of the melon, opposite the stem. The surface should give slightly. A ripe melon will also have a pleasant sweet smell.

21 Store tomatoes in a fridge if they are ripe. But you should not put under ripe tomatoes in the fridge as low temperatures spoil the ripening process.

22 To ripen tomatoes quickly, place them in a paper bag with an apple. Leave in a cool dark place and the tomatoes will ripen in a couple of days.

23 When buying vegetables such as Brussel Sprouts choose all the same size so that they all cook evenly

24 To check the freshness of a bean, hold it between your forefinger and thumb and bend it gently. If it is fresh it will break in two and not bend.

25 When buying a cauliflower always pull back the leaves to make sure the florets are white.

26 To store ice cubes for a party. When the ice cubes have frozen, remove from the ice trays and place on a baking sheet in the freezer for a couple of hours.

27 You can now store them in a bag without them sticking together. You can do the same for the following;-

28 If you have a glut of fresh herbs you can store them as follows;- get an ice cube tray and place freshly chopped herbs in each section, add a little fresh water to each section and then freeze. Remove cubes of the herbs and add to recipes as required.

29 Open freeze double cream in an ice cube tray, then turn out the cubes into polythene bags and store in the freezer. The cubes can be added straight into hot soups, sauces or casseroles.

30 Store any unused wine by freezing it in ice trays and then drop them into soups and sauces as required.

31 Store any unused stock in the freezer by freezing in ice trays.

32 If you over cook carrots, peas parsnips or swede: drain well and place in a food processor and puree until smooth, add a little cream to taste. Et voila a rich creamy puree!

33 To revive mashed potatoes, just whisk an egg white until stiff and fold carefully into the potatoes. Put the mixture into a dish and bake in a hot oven until fluffy and golden.

34 Rescue over-salted vegetables by pouring boiling water over them, OR drop a peeled potato in, it absorbs the excess salt. This also works for over-salted dishes.

35 To revive mushrooms that have dried out, add a little red wine and leave to soak for a few minutes. Then bring to the boil, stir in a little cream and parsley and serve.

36 To keep bread fresh if you don’t have a bread bin or crock, use a cotton drawstring bag. Wash and dry the bag regularly to prevent mould from developing.

37 To revive a stale French loaf, cut it into thick slices almost to the base then spread garlic butter between the slices. Wrap in foil, and bake in a hot oven for 10 minutes.

38 To revive a slightly stale loaf of bread, place it in a colander over a saucepan of boiling water. Cover with the pan lid until the bread is warm.

39 To freeze sliced bread;- place greaseproof between the slices so that you can remove them without thawing the whole loaf.

40 If you make your own bread, you can freeze unrisen bread dough for a month

41 When thawing frozen bread or rolls, do it in an oven and they will be crisp and fragrant

42 If you have nowhere to store a loaf of bread, place the loaf on a wooden bread board, and cover with a upturned earthenware bowl. Alternatively wrap in a clean, dry tea towel.

43 To improve the life of a large fruit cake cut it in half. Then take slices from the middle of the cake, sliding the two halves back together. Store in a airtight container.

44 Store an iced cake on the lid of a cake tin, with the inverted tin over it. You can then slice and remove pieces without risking damage.

45 When freezing a large cake or gateaux, cut it into slices before freezing, and interleave each slice with a piece of non-stick paper. Reassemble the cake and freeze as usual. You can then remove as many slices as you need without having to thaw out the whole cake.

46 To make home made flour shaker, make several holes in the metal lid of a screw top jar by hammering a nail through it, while resting it on a wooden board. Fill with flour.

47 If clear honey becomes crystallized during storage, restore it by standing the jar in a bowl of hot water for 5 minutes. Then rotate the jar a couple of times until the honey becomes clear and liquid again.

48 To measure honey and syrups easily, use a metal spoon that has been dipped in hot water. Honey and syrups will not stick to a heated spoon.

49 If you have a dish or bag of hardened brown sugar, place a slice of apple in it to soften it again.

50 Potatoes will take food stains off your fingers. Just slice and rub the raw potato on the stains and rinse with water.

Potty Story‏
Posted On 04/05/2008 06:32:18

A GOOD ONE FOR ALL THE DADS WHO HAVE NEVER SHARED A RESTROOM STALL WITH THEIR CHILD, NOW YOU "MAY" UNDERSTAND!!!

A 3-year-old tells all from his mother's restroom
stall.
By Shannon Popkin

My little guy, Cade, is quite a talker. He loves to
communicate and does it quite well. He talks to people
constantly, whether we're in the library, the grocery
store or at a drive-thru window. People often
comment on how clearly he speaks for a just-turned-
3-year-old. And you never have to ask him to turn up
the volume. It's always fully cranked.
There've been several embarrassing times that I've
wished the meaning of his words would have been masked
by a not-so-audible voice, but never have I wished
this more than last week at Costco. Halfway, through
our shopping trip, nature called, so I took Cade with
me into the restroom.
If you'd been one of the ladies in the restroom that
evening, this is what you would hav e heard coming from
the second to the last stall:
"Mommy, are you gonna go potty? Oh! Why are you
putting toiwet paper on the potty, Mommy? Oh! You
gonna sit down on da toiwet paper now?
Mommy, what are you doing? Mommy, are you gonna go
stinkies on the potty?"
At this point I started mentally counting how many
women had been in the bathroom when I walked in.
Several stalls were full ... 4? 5?
Maybe we could wait until they all left before I had
to make my debut out of this stall and reveal my
identity. Cade continued, "Mommy, you ARE going
stinkies aren't you? Oh, dats a good girl, Mommy! Are
you gonna get some candy for going stinkies on the
potty? Let me see doze stinkies, Mommy! Oh ... Mommy!
I'm trying to see in dere. Oh! I see dem. Dat is a very
good girl, Mommy. You are gonna get some candy!
I heard a few faint chuckles coming from the stalls on
either side of me.
Where is a screaming new born when you need her? Good
grief. This was really getting embarrassing. I was
definitely waiting a long time before exiting. Trying
to divert him, I said, "Why don't you look in
Mommy's purse and see if you can find some candy.
We'll both have some!"
"No, I'm trying to see doze more stinkies. Oh! Mommy!"
He started to gag at this point. "Uh oh, Mommy. I fink
I'm gonna frow up. Mommy, doze stinkies are making me
frow up!! Dat is so gross!!" As the gags became louder,
so did the chuckles outside my stall. I quickly flushed
the toilet in hopes of changing the subject. I began to
reason with myself: OK. There are four other toilets.
If I count four flushes, I can be reasonably assured
that those who overheard this embarrassing monologue
will be long gone.
"Mommy! Would you get off the potty, now? I want you
to be done going stinkies! Get up! Get up!" He grunted
as he tried to pull me off. Now I could hear full-blown
laughter. I bent down to count the feet outside my door.
"Oh, are you wooking under dere, Mommy? You wooking
under da door? What were you wooking at, Mommy?
You wooking at the wady's feet?" More laughter.
I stood inside the locked door and tried to assess the
situation.
"Mommy, it's time to wash our hands, now. We have to
go out now, Mommy! "
He started pounding on the door. "Mommy, don't you
want to wash your hands? I want to go out!!"

I saw that my "wait 'em out" plan was unraveling. I
sheepishly opened the door, and found standing outside
my stall, twenty to thirty ladies crowded around the
stall, all smiling and starting to applaud. My first
thought was complete embarrassment, then I thought,
"Where's the fine print on the motherhood contract'
where I signed away every bit of my dignity and privacy?"
But as my little boy gave me a big, cheeky grin while
he rubbed bubbly soap between his chubby little hands,
I thought, I'd sign it all away aga in, just to be known as
Mommy to this little fellow.

Computer Stupidities
Posted On 04/03/2008 07:13:43

One day a customer called complaining that he just received his computer, but it won't turn on. When he first pushed the power button, the screen flashed and then everything died.

I couldn't do much over the phone, so I went to the customer's office. It was plugged in, everything was hooked up ok, but, sure enough, it refused to turn on. I decided to take it back and promised to deliver a new one as soon as possible. But when I went to pick it up, I couldn't.

Fearful of thieves, the man had fired some 24 inch bolts straight through the box, through the hard drive, motherboard, everything, locking it to his desk.

"Oh," he said, "I thought it was just the TV part that was important. Will my warranty cover this?

While I was at college (back in the days of Archimedes computers), I often helped to teach new users the ropes while the teacher concentrated elsewhere. This one sweet girl was very new, and I didn't mind that she had no concept of the mouse, the screen, and whatnot -- she soon got good enough that I could leave her to do some task and help someone else. Pretty soon, however, she was tugging on my chair, and when I went to see what was going on, she said, "My bracelet is stuck in there."

Eh?

It was wedged into the floppy disk slot. Why? Apparently, the bracelet was annoying her when she typed, so she took it off. She found a small slot on the computer with a happy little door on it and just went ahead and shoved it in. Tech support had to rescue it by taking the thing apart.

About a year ago, I was called out to do field service. When I got to the lady's house and was let in, the first thing I noticed was the smell of gunpowder. The second, the double barreled 12-gauge shotgun lying on the couch. Third, the big gaping hole in the side of her computer. (It was one of those Macs where the CPU and monitor are in the same housing.)

I looked at her. She was a little grey haired woman, around 60 or so. Had she? Not possible. Still, I had to ask.

  • Me: "Did you shoot...?"
  • Customer: "Yes, I got a little mad at it. They told me I couldn't hurt it, but I think they were wrong. Can you salvage anything?"

I mumbled something about not being a Mac tech and told her I would send one out as soon as I could. Then I burned rubber out of there.

About a month later, my boss called me in; he had the woman on hold. She had apparently complained that I was not competent and that I had lied when I said I would send out a competent Mac tech -- or perhaps I just hadn't been able to find anyone competent working for us. I filled him in. He paused for a second, picked up the phone, and said, "Ma'am? Did you put a shotshell into your computer? ... Uh huh...I'm sorry, ma'am, we really can't...well, no.... I'll try to send one out.... Nice doing business with you...." He hung up, looked at me, and said, "You think any of our Mac techs will go?" I shook my head. "Me neither."

We heard from her again last week, when my boss told me that the woman had called up to cuss me out, saying not only was I a "young whippersnapper" but also a liar, since one of our competitors had fixed her computer just fine, even fixing the little scratches and stuff on the monitor glass. That sounded fishy, so I went over and talked with the techs. After a case of canned drinks and a few bags of junk food, I wormed the whole story out of them. Apparently, about the only salvagable part was the hard drive (which the buckshot had missed), so they took it out, went out and bought a whole new computer, slapped the hard drive in, and presented it to the lady as her repaired computer -- of course charging her an arm and a leg.

Oil Change Instructions
Posted On 04/03/2008 06:55:16

It's different for men and women.

WOMEN:

1. Pull up to Jiffy Lube or Valvoline Instant Oil Change when the mileage reaches 3,000 miles since the last oil change.

2. Drink a cup of coffee while they change the oil.

3. 15 minutes later, write a check and leave with a properly maintained vehicle.

Cost: $29.99 oil change, $2.00 coffee. Total $32.00

MEN:

1. Wait until Saturday, drive to the auto parts store. Buy a case of oil, oil filter, kitty litter, hand cleaner (don't forget a little tree air freshener). Write a check to the auto parts store for approximately $50.

2. Stop by 7/11 on the way home, buy a case of beer. Write a check for $20.00.

3. Drive home with oil and beer.

4. Open beer, enjoy it.

5. Spend 30 minutes looking for the jack stands.

6. Find the jack stands (finally) under the kid's pedal car, jack the car up.

7. Open another beer, drink it.

8. Place drain pan under engine.

9. Look for 9/16" box end wrench for drain plug

10. Give up looking ten minutes later, find crescent wrench.

11. Unscrew drain plug.

12. Drop drain plug into pan of hot oil. Splash hot oil onto your hands and face in the process. Cuss and swear.

13. Crawl out from under car, wipe hot oil from hands and face. Throw some kitty litter on the spilled oil.

14. Open another beer while watching the last drops of oil drain.

15. Spend 30 minutes looking for the oil filter wrench.

16. Give up looking for oil filter wrench, crawl under car and hammer a flat-head screwdriver through the oil filter and twist it off.

17. Crawl out from under car, splashing hot oil everywhere from newly made holes in oil filter.

18. Cleverly hide used oil filter in trash to avoid those pesky environmental penalties. Open another beer.

19. Install new oil filter, making sure to apply a thin coat of oil to the gasket.

20. Pour the first quart of new oil into engine.

21. Oops! Now remember the drain plug (removed in step 11). It's still swimming in the now-warm oil in the drain pan.

22. Throw more kitty litter on the quart-sized oil puddle on the floor.

23. Open another beer and drink it.

24. Find drain plug with a minimum of spillage, hand-tighten in drain plug socket. Drink beer.

25. Crawl under car (getting oily kitty litter embedded in neck and arms). Tighten drain plug with crescent wrench, but this time, it's slippery. Bang your knuckles on the frame while tightening drain plug.

26. Throw crescent wrench across the garage in anger. Throw a fit because crescent wrench hits bowling trophy (which wife wouldn't let stay in the house).

27. Open another beer and drink it.

28. Clean hands, bandaging where needed to stop blood flow.

29. Pour in five quarts of fresh oil.

30. Lower car from jack stands. Smile at your handiwork. Open another beer and drink it.

31. Move car back to discover oil puddles you missed; apply more kitty litter to missed areas.

32. Test drive car to make sure oil doesn't leak.

33. Get pulled over a block from the house by local police, get arrested for DUI.

34. Call loving wife and bail bondsman.

35. Next day, get car out of impound yard.

Cost: $50 parts, $20 beer, Impound fee $75, Bail $1500, DUI $2500 minimum. Total $4145 (but you know the job was done right!)

Please pass it along and share it with your children.

A group of rapists and date rapists in prison were interviewed on what they look for in a potential victim and here are some interesting facts:

1) The first thing men look for in a potential victim is hairstyle. They are most likely to go after a woman with a ponytail, bun, braid or other hairstyle that can easily be grabbed . They are also likely to go after a woman with long hair . Women with short hair are not common targets.

2) The second thing men look for is clothing. They will look for women who's clothing is easy to remove quickly . Many of them carry scissors around specifically to cut clothing.

3) They also look for women on their cell phone ,searching through their purse, or doing other ac tivities while walking because they are off-guard and can be easily overpowered.

4) Men are most likely to attack & rape in the early morning, between 5: 00a.m. And 8:30a.m.

5) The number one place women are abducted from/attacked is grocery store parking lots . Number two: is office parking lots/garages. Number three: is public restrooms.

6) The thing about these men is that they are looking to grab a woman and quickly move her to another location where they don't have to worry about getting caught.

7) Only 2% said they carried we apons because rape carries a 3-5 year sentence but rape with a weapon is 15-20 years.

8) If you put up any kind of a fight at all, they get discouraged because it only takes a minute or two for them to realize that going after you isn't worth it because it will be time-consuming.

9) These men said they would not pick on women who have umbrellas , or other similar objects that can be used from a distance, in their hands.

Keys are not a deterrent because you have to get really close to the attacker to use them as a weapon. So, the idea is to convince these guys you're not worth it.

10) Several defense mecha nisms he taught us are: If someone is following behind you on a street or in a garage or with you in an elevator or stairwell, look them in the face and ask them a question , like what time is it, or make general small talk: "I can't believe it is so cold out here," "we're in for a bad winter." Now you've seen their face and could identify them in a line-up; you lose appeal as a target.

11) If someone is coming toward you , hold out your hands in front of you and yell STOP or STAY BACK ! Most of the rapists this man talked to said they'd leave a woman alone if she yelled or showed that she would not be afraid to fight back .
Again, they are looking for an EASY target.

12) If you carry pepper spray (this instructor was a huge advocate of it and carries it with him wherever he goes) , yell I HAVE PEPPER SPRAY and holding it out will be a deterrent.

13) If someone grabs you , you can't b eat them with strength but you can by outsmarting them If you are grabbed around the waist from behind, pinch the attacker either under the
Arm (between the elbow and armpit) OR in the upperinner thigh VERY VERY HARD . One woman in a class this guy taught told him she used the underarm pinch on a guy who was trying to date rape her and was so upset she broke through the skin and tore out muscle strands - the guy needed stitches. Try pinching yourself in those places as hard as you can stand it - it hurts.

14) After the initial hit, always GO for the GROIN . I know from a particularly unfortunate experience that if you slap a guy's parts it is extremely painful . You might think that you'll anger the guy and make him want to hurt you more, but the thing these rapists told our instructor is that they want a woman who will not cause a lot of trouble. Start causin g trouble and he's out of there.

15) When the guy puts his hands up to you , grab his first two fingers and bend them back as far as possible with as much pressure pushing down on them as possible . The instructor did it to me without using much pressure, and I ended up on my knees and both knuckles cracked audibly.

16) Of course the things we always hear still apply.Always be aware of your surroundings , take someone with you if you can and if you see any odd behavior, don't dismiss it, go with your instincts!!!

You may feel a little silly at the time, but you'd feel much worse if the guy really was trouble.

1 Tip from Tae Kwon Do : The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to use it, do!

2. Learned this from a tourist guide in New Orleans . If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM . Toss it away from you....chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you, and he will go for the wallet/purse. RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!

3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car, kick out the back tail ligh ts and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy. The driver won't see you, but everybody else will. This has saved lives.

4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc.) DON'T DO THIS! The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR, LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE.
a. If someone is in the car with a gun to your head DO NOT DRIVE OFF, repeat: DO NOT DRIVE OFF! Instead gun the engine and speed into anything, wrecking the car. Your Air Bag will save you. If the person is in the back seat they will get the worst of it. As soon as the car crashes bail out and run. It is better than having them find your body in a remote location.

5 A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot or parking garage:

A.) Be aware: look around you, look into your car, at the passenger side floor, and in the back seat.

B.) If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.

C.) Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle, and the passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out.

IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)
6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. (Stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot. This is especially true at NIGHT!)

7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN! The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times. And even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN, preferably in a zigzag pattern!

8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP! It may get you raped or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well-educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked "for help" into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.

9. Another Safety Point: Someone just told me that her friend heard a crying baby on her porch the night before last, and she called the police because it was late and she thought it was weird. The poli ce told her "Whatever you do, DO NOT open the door."

The lady then said that it sounded like the baby had crawled near a window, and she was worried that it would crawl to the street and get run over. The policeman said, "We already have a unit on the way, whatever you do, DO NOT open the door." He told her that they think a serial killer has a baby's cry recorded and uses it to coax women out of their homes thinking that someone dropped off a baby. He said they have not verified it , but have had several calls by women saying that they hear baby's cries outside their doors when they're home alone at night.

Please pass this on and DO NOT open the door for a crying baby ----This
should be taken seriously because the Crying Baby theory was mentioned on America's Most Wanted this past Saturday when they profiled the serial killer in Louisiana .

I'd like you to forward this to all the women you know. It may save a life. A candle is not dimmed by lighting another candle. I was going to send this to the ladies only, but guys, if you love your mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, etc., you may want to pass it onto them, as well

FOR YOU

READ VERY SLOWLY.... IT'S PRETTY PROFOUND.

Too many people put off something that brings them joy just because they haven't thought about it, don't have it on their schedule, didn't know it was coming or are too rigid to depart from their routine.

I got to thinking one day about all those women on the Titanic who passed up dessert at dinner that fateful night in an effort to cut back. From then on, I've tried to be a little more flexible.

How many women out there will eat at home because their husband didn't suggest going out to dinner until after something had been thawed? Does the word "refrigeration" mean nothing to you?

How often have your kids dropped in to talk and sat in silence while you watched 'Jeopardy' on television?

I cannot count the times I called my sister and said, "How about going to lunch in a half hour?" She would gas up and stammer, "I can't. I have clothes on the line. My hair is dirty. I wish I had known yesterday, I had a late breakfast, It looks like rain." And my personal favorite: "It's Monday." She died a few years ago. We never did have lunch together.

Because we cram so much into our lives, we tend to schedule our headaches. We live on a sparse diet of promises we make to ourselves when all the conditions are perfect!

We'll go back and visit the grandparents when we get Steve toilet-trained. We'll entertain when we replace the living-room carpet. We'll go on a second honeymoon when we get two more kids out of college.

Life has a way of accelerating as we get older. The days get shorter, and the list of promises to ourselves gets longer One morning, we awaken, and all we have to show for our lives is a litany of "I'm going to," "I plan on," and "Someday, when things are settled down a bit."

When anyone calls my 'seize the moment' friend, she is open to adventure and available for trips. She keeps an open mind on new ideas. Her enthusiasm for life is contagious. You talk with her for five minutes, and you're ready to trade your bad feet for a pair of rollerblades and skip an elevator for a bungee cord.

My lips have not touched ice cream in 10 years. I love ice cream. It's just that I might as well apply it directly to my stomach with a spatula and eliminate the digestive process. The other day , I stopped the car and bought a triple-decker. If my car had hit an iceberg on the way home, I would have died happy.
Now ...go on and have a nice day. Do something you WANT to......not something on your SHOULD DO list. If you were going to die soon and had only one phone call you could make, who would you call and what would you say? And why are you waiting?

Make sure you read this to the end; you will understand why I sent this to you.

Have you ever watched kids playing on a merry-go-round or listened to the rain lapping on the ground? Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight or gazed at the sun into the fading night? Do you run through each day on the fly? When you ask, "How are you?", do you hear the reply?

When the day is done, do you lie in your bed with the next hundred chores running through your head? Ever told your child, "We'll do it tomorrow." And in your haste, not see his sorrow? Ever lost touch? Let a good friendship die? Just call to say "Hi"?

When you worry and hurry through your day, it is like an

unopened gift....Thrown away. ... Life is not a race. Take it slower. Hear the music before the song is over.

It's National Friendship Week. Show your friends how much you care. Send this to everyone you consider a FRIEND.

To those I have sent this to... I cherish our friendship and appreciate all you do.

"Life may not be the party we hoped for.... but while we are here we might as well dance!"
