Is today Wednesday? Sheesh!
2011-5-11

Well kids, get in here and set your tail assemblies down on the comfy’s. lolol I am crackin’ up… Poor Marv… I tried to be nice to him. Trust me, it backfired! With no effort at all, I managed to create a new email addy/name for him.

Sometimes we swap catalog info when we have common interests. So, Yup, I sent him a link to a really really neat catalog. Has all kinds of stuff… Scientific (weather and anemometers.. rain gauges and wind gauges) lolol Well, catalog had place on home page to add/send in names of interested parties. So, I entered Marv’s info and sent.

Just being silly, I entered his addy/name as BrattyMarv… then did the regular email addy. Lolol Roflmao! Gots to tell you, the Marv got an acceptance note/email from the catalog co. addressed to BrattyMarv!!! Oh dear!

Well, I got an email from him… he called me Tick Woman! Wonder what he means by that? Lolol I have a serious case of the giggles… lolol

Oh, this is a BIGGY! Me has been vindicated… Sometimes I am so smart, I scare myself! Lolol

Once upon a time ago, before I retired, I met a feller who worked with the Classics Dept at Cinti Univ. He had spent considerable time working/excavating the site of Hisarlik…Better known as Troy, Greece/Turkey. At sometime during our chats, I mentioned that the ‘river Scamander’s God’ rose up and chased one of the hero’s across the plain… I felt that Homer was describing a tsunami.

Well, scientist feller disagreed, vehemently. Scamander only a creek… Troy about 5 miles from coast… NOT a tsunami…
I found out this past week there is evidence (especially at Crete) of tsunamis all over the place in that area.. I’ve often wondered if the feller remembered my words. Lolol Yes, Scamander is a creek but at that time, the shore was much closer to Troy.

And then, during the same time period, Homer told us about Polyphemus… a one eyed giant who lived in a mountain and threw rocks when he became angry… Can you say: volcano (Thera)? Lolol Question: how many have read the Iliad and the Odyssey?

Another question! How many of you are aware that when a puppy with needlesharp teeth chews on you nose, you can’t get to sleep? Naps and puppies seem to be incompatible? My poor nose… first it gets into a losing battle with the fish pond… then it gets punctured by them cute (?) puppy teeth.

Speaking of the pond, I just betcha I have a gazillion toad tadpoles running around in there right now. Them lil black dots in the pic are taddies. They is cute lil fellers and gals and they are growing like crazy! (Stormy falled into pond too. That makes 3 of us now!)

or view link

I swear, it’s either feast or famine around here with my fly guys/gals! Let me go outside with the pup for a few minutes and all kinds of things happen! Lolol If I’m wearing cut-offs, the brats need a traffic light up there.. And, I DO get flashed… But, just let me wear one of my old robes, nobody seems to notice. Hmmmm…. I must ponder on this! If I am wearing the shorts, does this mean the guys are checking my ankles? Am I still a sex symbol at 75? Or, could it be that them brats are shocked that I still have decent ankles? Wonder what would happen if I wore my Bikini out by the pond? Wonder if any of them saw me fall in the pond? Oh dear…. Lololol

I am outa here before I get into more trouble. Take care all of mine. Go in safety always. Remember to listen to your gut! Hungry:eat! Red flags:run!

Many hugs, much love and lots of lafter… meems

I knew something wasn't quite right about the first one... lolol 2011*02*03...

I THINK THIS IS FRIDAY
2011-05-06

Ok, get your buns in here and warm up. Sheesh! It’s May already but we are still having frost warnings! I’m wearing a flannel shirt and the heat is back on.

Where do I start? We’ve had bad weather… lots of wind, lightning and even a power outage! The phone service was bad… I was bitten by another tick (Yes, I have big itchy bumps all over again) I’ve been attacked by chiggers, overdid the trip to pick up new pup and spent yesterday in bed!

There is, however, some good news! My goose egg is getting smaller… my yellow green and purple right eye is looking much better… I think this is an improvement! Or not… Marv has agreed that I really am cute with the ‘decorated’ eye. But what does he know… without even trying, he broke his paper shredder! I’ve never heard of breaking a paper shredder before… lolol there is always the first time tho! I’m not sure that Marv is mechanically inclined or not… Gotcha!

Well, for the moment, I am up to 4 dogs. I think!

or view link

Meet the Stormy! She’s a lab mixed with God only knows what! This is day 3 now. (Friday) [oopsie, make that Saturday] No, she’s not housebroken but she is learning. Just what I needed, more messes to clean up. (And to think Marv worries whether I am getting enuf exercise or not! Lolol) She’s about 3 months old…knows what dogs are but she’s not too sure about this human pack leader just yet. Lolol She is sooooo brave… She barks at the Gremlin like she knows what she is doing! Lily ignores everybody but defends her ‘baby’ if anyone gets too close…

She does this every year… Just long enuf between sessions for me to forget that she has these nesting urges. Right now, her ‘baby’ is a green rawhide donut. The other morning, I found it buried under my pillow! I guess she figures I will take care of it when she goes outside for a few.

Then, there’s the Pyggy… He’s having an awful time poor lil feller… He misses his buddies and pals. He has started sucking on one of my pillow cases to comfort himself. I don’t have the heart to keep scolding him about it. He seems to be thawing a little towards Stormy. He definitely didn’t like her or want her around him at first.

Remember my broken field running down the hallway? Well, it’s gotten worse! I now have Stormy trying to stay ON my feet while the Gremlin is running circles around me! And me trying to get to the kitchen for my first cuppa. Sheesh!

Maybe I should tell you about this last Wednesday. I get a call from Becky… Her youngest, I call her Niknak, was headed for someplace north of us to pick up my pup… OK. Beck would call me when Nik was on her way back… meet her at Save-a-lot just south of Beattyville. OK, I can do that! I be ready to roll when the call comes in.

OK, so I take a nap… this is gonna be a long day for me. Phone rings… I answer and then fly out the door. [Broom has been pouting and refuses to fly in iffy weather.] So, I jump in Tildy and off I go! Sheesh! You wouldn’t believe the ruts and pot holes in the gravel section of my road. We’ve had 6 to 8 “ of rain or more in the last few weeks… The run off has really done some damage and we are still having more rain. Today was another gray day and all I want to do is sleep…

Back to the trip to Save-a-lot… I get there with time to spare… I park in the middle of an empty section of the lot… Watching people come in..

Well, here comes the lady who runs the Tobacco shed… Haven’t seen her in months and months. Can you say running our mouths to catch up? Lolol Oh yeah… I gave her a hard time and she responded in kind.

Then here comes the Nik with my puppy! Nik’s boyfriend dumps Stormy in the truck cab… We talked for a few but she had to run. She did have the time to tell me that Stormy had upchucked in her car…(all over the boyfriend) Oh dear!

I decided to go into the Tobacco Shed and buy a pop… I checked to see if Chris was working at the main store. Yup… Have him meet me out front? OK… Off I go to the main store… and there he stands… My buddy Chris. Lolol I gave him a hug… propositioned him…He checked my eye… We both got tickled and then he had to get busy… I had the best time…

Next, I go to the hardware store. Oh yeah! Remember the shears I lost in the pond? Well, with a lot of looking, I found a replacement pair. I asked about rain gauge… YES! They had two… The fancy one had big numbers and birds on it… that’s the one I took.

Well, while the clerk and I were discussing the merits of sumfin else, a feller wandered up and said he needed a rain gauge also. The only one left was similar to my original plastic gauge. Feller didn’t like it so I decided to swap with him. He got the pretty and I got the utilitarian. The feller, whose name is MorisP (that is correct spelling of his first name), reached into his pocket, pulled out a coin and handed me a quarter! Truth, so help me…. Moris said he was paying me for being extra nice! And to think, I even didn’t have to fluff nor primp for him!

or view link

Well, now! I walked out of the hardware store just a giggling for all I was worth. Lolol There goes my reputation and the neighborhood again! lolol But at least, I had a quarter to show for my day’s work!

Later Brats! Take care all of mine… go in safety always… Remember take advantage of every opportunity… you just might earn a quarter!

Many hugs, much love and lots of lafter… The still buffing her nails meems

WELCOME HOME, DEAR HEARTS, WELCOME HOME

Oh dear, seems like I have put my foot in it without meaning to. It seems like I have offended some with my story about falling into the pond. To those, I sincerely apologize. And, should I at any time in the future offend, please feel free to remove my post. No hard feelings from me.

Maybe I should explain a little more about myself. I was an abused child/adult. I always blamed myself… something was wrong with me.

I decided early on that I would NOT be like my birthparents. I knew how NOT to be but I didn’t know how to be. I learned.

I learned that it is not funny to be harmed emotionally or physically. I learned that I could not stand idly by while another, human or animal, was being harmed. You can do to me and get by with it; you CANNOT do to mine! When I say: I have your back (6), that’s exactly what I mean.

You will never ever read that I am amused by others being in pain… no matter what sort. I find no humor in the loss of a child, a partner, a soul mate… In fact, I have great difficulty in finding the appropriate words TO say in cases of loss. What can be said to make the person feel better? Nothing! I offer what I can… an ear, a shoulder, a hug and love.

Now, when referring to myself and my adventures, I am fair game! I have no secrets. I try, in my way, to show who and how I am in every letter I write. I write as an involved on-looker. I stand outside myself and observe just what a ding ding I can be.

Did I know better than to place the pots in the pond the way I did? Absolutely, but I did it anyway. The observer in me stood to the side and watched this ding ding repeat a process for the third time. The Observer watched the whole thing develop and the results. I was laffing at my self, dear hearts, at myself!

Once upon a time ago… I used to water ski at a fishing pond/lake. I sort of worked there too off and on. I worked the little restaurant, painted the fishing boats and built rock walls among other things…

Once in a great while, I would get a break, be invited to water ski and off I would go. I most always wore a bathing suit no matter what I was doing… Get a tan, doncha know?

Anyhow, this day I go out skiing. I fall… end up about 10’ down. I got tickled at the scene I must have presented. The top to my suit abandoned me. I am laffing out loud under water. Now, I tell myself that I am losing air when I laff… Air in lungs will help me to the surface.. Did I stop laffing…? I don’t think so!…

I hit the surface… smacked the water with one hand… the other hand was holding the top to my suit. My laffter echoed off the surrounding hillsides. When I go, I will probably be laffing and I will have lived!

Take care all of mine… go in safety always. Remember we are allowed to be human.

Many hugs, much love and lots of laffter. The very klutzy meems

I’m a tellin’ ya kids, I ain’t graceful sometimes. Lolol What happened?

Well, yesterday, I went out to get the mail… Found the package with the pond plants had arrived. OK, so I open it and put the plants in a wastebasket full of water. I was going to put off planting them until today… But, after I took a nap, I changed my mind.

I put on the old red robe… grabbed some pots… out the front door I go… I put dirt in the pots…then the plants (one at a time) then the rocks/gravel on top. I trundle off to the pond with a finished pot… I drop in the biggest pot with a lotus… back up the ramp…repeat with second lotus… back to the pond… drop in, no problem. Off I go for round three…

Ah yes, the lily pads. Same routine… dirt, plant, rocks and off to the pond I trumble. Hmmm… I ponder whether to set the lily on the bottom or on one of the ledges… I decide the bottom in the shallower section… leave the ledges for a couple of bog plants. Yup, that’s what I decide.

Ok, so this last pot is shorter than the first two… I get down on my knees… (I’ve already sprayed myself with eau de OFF) I lean forward to place the last pot just so. However, I have missed the shallower spot by about a foot? Maybe?…

Oooopsie! I lose my balance… On my knees, rump in the air, trying to set pot on bottom… The bottom part I chose was still the deeper end. Ruhroh! I had planned on stopping when the pot hit bottom… Well…. It didn’t and I did!

In I go… My lead weights in my afterburners must have shifted or sumfin… Cause the next thing I know my head has collided with the far side of the pond. I am stunned for a moment but in no danger of drowning…My glasses are missing…

There I was… floundering around … no co-ordination at all… trying to get my arms under… didn’t work… Get my feet under me? I don’t think so… I am now sopping wet from the top of my head to the soles of my feet… lololol Did you know that the red robe weighs a ton when it is soaking wet? Well, it does. I find my glasses… unbroken… Whew!

I finally get on my feet… try to get out of pond without falling again… Insides of my shoes are slick as wet ice. I manage to step out of the pond…then I notice blood on the rocks. Oh oh! Oh yeah, I am bleeding… and more than a little woozy.

That’s when I notice/hear one of the BBSBs going over. Oh dear, how embarrassing ! Did they see me? Oh gee! Well, anyway, with the lower temp and a breeze blowing, I decided to get in the house and change clothes. It definitely wasn’t swimming weather!

So, I stripped off the red robe and dumped it on the rocker on the front porch… I was still sopping wet. Into the house, the bath room to see where the blood was coming from… Oh, I was REALLY cute… I had blood all over my face… Nothing serious tho… just a small cut on the bridge of my nose from my glasses…

Well, I ended up with a large goose egg over my right eye… the cut on my nose… and I now have, as you have seen, a gorgeous and colorful black eye! (which is also swollen shut!) I ran around the house with a folded piece of paper toweling plopped over the cut on my nose until bedtime…

Trust me, if I had gone in to my considered business, I definitely would have had to post a sign saying: “not tonite, guys. I have a headache!” See, things work out the way they’re supposed to. Lolol AND I have paid my dues to the Watergods… I hope!

I think that’s it for now… take care all of mine. Go in safety always… Remember to stay out of ponds (Draco) and off street corners (Marv)!

Many hugs, much love and lots of laffter… the ever so graceful meems

Welcome home dear hearts, welcome home

Ok, so I screwed up and procrastin…procratenated…Hmmmm…Procrasstina…. Well ratz! I’ll have to learn how to spell that word tomorrow…or not.

What am I talking about now, you ask? I put off sprinkling Sevin powder… On the bedroom floor… on the dogs… on the body… hair… everywhere?

Oh and before I forget, I am really cute… red, itchy, bumpy and grumpy! Yeah, yeah… I done bin chewed on by ticks… 3 different varieties, mind you. I’m allergic to all three but the first one was a deer tick. I’m back on an antibiotic, just in case! RM Spotted fever ain’t fun to play with. Can’t remember the name of the other illness that the tick could be carrying but it ain’t no fun neither.

To top it all off, the Lilyputz, the unmade bed, isn’t speaking to me either. She had a full blown tick on her cheek… We arm-wrestled all over the kitchen floor. I might be stronger and bigger than that rotten little critter, but she is like a squirming bundle of fast moving energy. Well, I got the tick… Set her down and off she went… I have no idea where she hid but I couldn’t find her.

No, I didn’t check my closet. I stay out of there as much as I can. The sign on the door speaks truthfully: “here there be monsters”

Here’s one of Paula Jean’s Duh moments… Abby on NCIS… Real (stage) name Pauley Pirette(sp)? Lolol That wouldn’t happen to be pronounced “Polly Parrot” would it? I may be slow but I think I finally got it! Lolol

Well, I am back to selling slightly used arks again… with or without the critters… How bout over 7” of rain the last few days? Back pond is way up… the front pond is full of toads! Oh dear, now I have uncontrolled breeding going on… but it is the season or sumfin. Hey, kinda keep this info under your hats… If ‘they’ find out I have breeding toads/frogs, they’ll raise my taxes! Sheesh… anymore you gotta cover all bases.

I staggered out to get the mail. A bill naturally… I’m wearing my paint covered cut off draw string jeans… In other words, I am showing my ankles…I got flashed! WooHoo! I love them BBSBs… I curtseyed bout lost my balance again. I managed to make it to the tail gate without falling over… lolol I get so tickled at them brats up there… and then I get tickled when I think about the hillside watcher. I do wonder what goes thru his mind. And yes, I do have a hill side watcher… Some people don’t have enuf to do to keep themselves busy.

Here’s a biggy! I drove (DROVE) Tildy down to the two pumper… Stopped at Anna’s first tho. Poor Elmer… When Anna and I get to going, we crack him up….lolol And when sumfin, anyfing, goes wrong or wacky, we blame him. Anyhow, I haven’t been out on the road in forever… months, maybe? Trust me, the holes and ruts in the road haven’t improved a bit. I went slow so I could check the hillsides… Saw lots of wildflowers and what they call ‘fresh’ springs. Little water falls and rivulets all over the place. I could hear the water rushing over and around the rocks even tho I couldn’t see the creek.

Let’s see here…What else?… The lilacs are in full bloom right now. Smell sooooo good. The poppies are coming up. Maybe these will survive.

Grasscutter was coming out yesterday to take me shopping. He called… was at Doctor’s office. On his way to hospital for tests. Said he would call me and did not… I called his place. No answer… The girls weren’t there. I am starting to worry!

Take care all of mine. Go in safety always. Remember to take care of yourselves…Each and every one of you is important.

Many hugs, much love… and always some lafter… meems

THURSDAY

2011*4*15

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home!

Get in here, grab some coffee or sumfin and THEN tighten your seat belts!

The gloves are off, no more nice gal!  I will get even!  You just watch!

What am I talking about you ask yourself? What I am talking about is that rotten brat, LJ, aka Little Jake, aka Wayne.

How bout he was teasing me about my little pond out front!  (Trust me, pond area ain’t near done yet.) I’ve ordered a red lotus, a lily and some aeriating greens.  Won’t be mailed/sent until the 16th.  But anyway, him is giving me a hard time.  Said I needed some fish for the pond… Duh, I know that!  Then he continues to tell me to throw some canned sardines in there…did I like tomato sauce, oil or watered sardines?

Well, now, I responded to his email with: I’ll can YOUR sardines!  But I did admit the critters had voted for the fish in oil.  I didn’t hear any more about it… I squalled for Carol to do sumfin wiff him… Her response via LJ was “it’s too late.”  Now, THAT I understand and agree with whole-heartedly! Lolol

Wednesday was a beautiful day if somewhat chilly.  I had just poured myself a brand new fresh cuppa… decided to go out on the front porch and sit in the rocker for a while.  Rag taggers were playing and checking out the area when the Gremlin did a heads up stance looking down the road.

Aha!  UPS delivery truck pulls into driveway.  Cute red headed delivery man.  Eat your hearts out ladies!  I’d forgotten I had ordered an outdoor rocking chair. (On sale at my fave catalog)  Well, we chatted for a few minutes… He had many more stops to make but he was good enuf to carry the heavy box up to the porch.

Nice young man.  I asked him to keep an eye out for some large pups if he sees any needing homes.  He said he would… He does it all the time.

Ok, so I go to the house and warm up my coffee… go back out the side door and here comes TimTheMailMan!  Lolol  Leave it to him to notice that my ‘After dark dinner candle’ was out.  Complained that I hadn’t invited him…  Well, I told him I had thought about going into a cybersex business but I had changed my mind!  The county was going to start billing me for a traffic light, stop signs and said that I would need to hire a crossing guard and/or a cop… ‘they’ were going to raise my property taxes to pay for the upkeep of/and road repairs!  (excessive usage)(I made up the new business) and he bout fell out of his car!  I also added that I would need to put parking meters in the front yard.  Lololol  He said he’d feed the meter a quarter just to sit and watch.  I told him that just watching would cost him double!

OK, meems is being bad again but truly that was our conversation!  Lolol  Well, he handed me the mail, told me that he really enjoys the News.  I thanked him and he went on his way laffing out loud. He delivered a box while he was at it.

Now what?!? Did I order sumfin else?  I don’t remember ordering anything else but, in my world, anything is possible.  OK, so I come in the house…back to the apartment… opened up my do-everything knife and open up the box.  It is filled with foam peanuts…stuffing paper and…..What in the world????

or http://www.eons.com/photos/photo/863752-Sardines-from-the-brat-Wayne

A tin of sardines from the brat!  Packed in oil no less!  OMG! What am I to do wiff him… No use hollering for Carol, she’s given up!

Well, think that’s it for the moment.  Daggoned if I didn’t sleep thru a beautiful 84 dag day!  Been up since 1630 hrs and just finished my first cuppa!  Lolol  I’ll get this sleep pattern changed yet…or maybe not. Lolol

Take care all of mine…go in safety  always.  Remember to laff at yourself once in a while, it keeps you human.

Many hugs, much love and lots of laffter at yourself!  Meems, the up to no good as usual

WEDNESDAY
2011*4*13

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home!

Get your buns in here and get warm. Sheesh! Has this been a week or what? The WeatherGods really play rough after a long winter! (I think I just made a major understatement there) Torrential rains, high winds, hail, cloud to cloud lightning and, yesterday, we had 1.95” of rain. I have no idea where the garbage can might be. It disappeared once but somebody brought it back home.

Did I go out to bring it back to the house? I don’t think so. The temp had dropped from a sultry 88 deg to a very chilly, wet and windy 44. I want you to look at the 44’s I just noticed their tails hang below the typed line. Lolol! How long have I been using this machine? Five years? I dunno but the poor thing has put up with me all this time. It deserves a medal!

Another thing I’ve noticed about puters is that each one has a different personality. I swear to you, puterwon has a distinct style for me. Ditto for putertoo. Would I be able to sit at your puter and be at ease? I don’t think so.

A question here. Have you given your puter a name? One that can be used in polite society? Puterwon’s real name is “Run A Muck”. My dear friend, Jessie, set up the system for me. She knew me way too well. We had the best times. I miss her, that rotten kid…we laffed a lot.

or view link
I did get outside for a while the other day… which day, I have no idea. The area was between storms and the sun was peeking out. I checked around the ponds and took some pix. Not the best in the world but good for memories. I found more toads in the little pond out front. Would you believe 6? More mouths to feed. And the Gremlin has developed a technique for dragging them out without using his mouth.

The Gremlin is an original! I turned my back to the pond aiming to come back inside. I heard this God awful commotion behind me. This is a first. That goofy critter had managed to fall into the little pond. Lololol Can you say “PANIC?” lolol The expression on that face. Eyes popped wide open, ears flapping while he ran around in circles. You’d a thot I had tried to give him a bath or sumfin! (I would say ‘typical male’ here but the Boss would get me.)

Speaking of the Boss, I just betcha he’s out with the Red Cross. Iowa has had a rough winter too. Well, I guess all the states have had a hard winter. Marv, who is accustomed to warmer weather, send me a message that the temp at his place was in the 40’s. I think that’s what he said. That’s a lot colder than his normal 70’s and 80’s.

The back pond really needs some work but I want to finish the one out front first. Anyway, I went out back to have a look/see. Guess what I found?!?! Seedlings from the purple leafed peach tree. The original was a mini peach grafted to a purple plum, maybe. Last year, it bore fruit…small plum sized deep purple peaches. I think I might have tasted one but I can’t remember for sure. Well, anyway, all them little critters are starting to hatch… putting down tap roots. I dug up a few and put them in potting soil. Keeping my fingers crossed. Hoping they mimic the momma tree. There are a few of the crab apple seedlings too. I just may have me an orchard yet.

Oh, and the cherry trees are blooming… first year! White blossoms. I can’t remember now whether I have two Bing and one Queen Anne, or the other way around! Lolol It’s hard tellin’ what I’ll end up with. All I know is that it is the best to be able to walk down and pluck them right off the tree. Dirt, dust, bugs and all. I love the flavor of them babies. Oh yeah!
view link
What else? The lilacs are blooming and it smells yummy out there. The Red Buds are blooming and the hills, oh gee, the hills are covered with white Dogwoods and Red Buds and wild cherry and and and! The ferns are starting to show too. Oh boy! I would be digging if the weather would cooperate for a day or two.

I guess that’s it for now. Well, except for the weekend’s expected bad weather. Take care all of mine. Go in safety always. Remember the unexpected ‘goods’ of this life. Enjoy them for all they are worth.

Many hugs, much love and lots of gentle lafter. meems
