D DAY FOR A LITTLE GIRL

posted 6 minutes ago

It was a beautiful day like today... Sun out...Breeze coming off the Big Sandy river at Kenova WVA.

The windows in the house were open. The little girl in the front yard could hear the radio playing. Then a NEWS FLASH!

www.kentucky.com/181/story/820214 (link to the LEX HERALD LEADER article)

The little girl knew all about war... at barely 8 years of age, she knew too much about war... She had learned in Spokane WA. when she was six. She learned in Lynn MA when she was about four... Battleships on the horizon. She learned!

The little girl in her way, didn't understand the reasons for war... She still doesn't.

The little girl hoped for no more wars ever...She still does.

Go in safety..Much love to all of mine... Paula Jean, the little girl

April 2009...

ARKS FOR SALE!

20092/6/5

I’ll have you know that I am really busy… Even tho the Apartment needs a good raking and the kitchen needs a back-hoe, I am trying to find more info on building an ark! Do arks need mud flaps? If so, where do they go attachment wise? Do mud flaps help or hinder when it comes to parking the ark? Do they interfere with starboard steering? (the only kind, I’m told). Are they hard to clean? Must they be removed when not in use?

Oh dear… Life used to be so simple before the weather began to change. An inch point 45 of rain overnite! That’s a foot and a half of water added to the pond! The tadpoles are starting to complain. Next thing you know, I’ll have otters or beavers out there. More mouths to feed!

Does an ark need special equipment for cold weather? Outfitted with rain/snow coats? Where in the world would you attach the skis? Or do we attach sled runners? Snow boards? Do we need a sundial? A compass? Does an ark need a gps locater?… Oh my word! I’m on an ark cascade!

I even pestered the Boss for an answer about the mud flaps… this was his response: "Yes and they come in twos!" Now, is that a lot of help or what? How many two’s? He didn’t even tell me where to put them and I am really afraid to ask! He’s liable to tell me! Gotcha Boss! Lololol Or did you gotcha me?

And you all thot I was just an empty attic’d and harmless lil ol lady. I plan ahead sometimes… lolol not often mind you but accidentals do happen! Lololol

And how bout Mini-Arks? Used arks? Slightly used arks? Only used once by a little old lady who lives in the mountains of KY? A ‘used ark lot’ to make extra money? Motorized arks? (I’d think that would be cheating tho) Fully loaded arks… have own pitchforks and shovels in matching covers/colors? Airflow compliments of the elephant families on board. Their ears, doncha know!

Then there is the sleek, updated, modern ark… Has sails, will travel… Excellent for raiding, shoplifting and a fast getaway! Row, row, row that Ark! And may the fair winds blow! Or not!

Now, I asked Anna the same questions! She was a lot of help! She had some questions of her own… Sheesh! Does the ark go in a snow storm? Can you go yard sailing? Do any of the arks come with ice cube makers for the hot summer months? (Only if you head to the far north or south at the right time of the year.) Ice bergs should be the right size after a long ocean voyage.

I have no idea why I got started on the Ark business… I don’t need to make sense, I’m an artist… lolol the creative mind goes where no one else would even consider going.
Let’s see here… lolol The Newbie! OMG! The Newbie! Want to know how really safe I am? The Newbie a guard dog? I’m beginning to wonder! Lololol

The boy started barking from the back porch. Not an alarm bark exactly but close… also non-stop. I looked out the east window… what in the world was he barking at? I fell over….

Big, brave, humongous, daring, adventuresome Newbie was barking (and refusing to leave the back porch) because of a rabbit… Rabbit sitting in a patch of clover… munching on the blossoms… Must have been a Kung Fu type rabbit because none of the 6 pack + would leave the porch either…

Sheesh, do I feel safe or what?!? Oh yeah…

Take care all of mine… Go in safety always… Remember used arks are where you find them…

Many hugs and much love… The always into sumfin Meems

A newspaper interview

posted 26 minutes ago, updated 11 minutes later

April 2009...

About the Newspaper article….. lololol

2009/6/2-3

Well, knowing positively that I would NOT be chosen, I volunteered to be interviewed. God help me, I WAS chosen! Ruined my plans… a whole series of News blogs about being tooooooo old at 70+ to be interviewed.

I had images of me mumbling in my food bib… Gumming my food because of no teeth. (this is true! I have teeth, I just don’t wear them very often) Shut up Marv!
************************************************************************
Look what I found posted on my profile page…

Hi,
You may not remember me, but I'm your fifth child, the one you forgot to mention to the Newspaper reporter.
I could tell them a thing or two you forgot to mention, like the time you left the five of us on a park bench over night and told us the squirrels would take care of us.
Or the time you tried to trade me for a new puppy.
We didn't mind our diet of bread and water, but when you put us outside at night with the cats, that was hard to get use to, especially in Winter.
But all in all, you did the best you could to provide for us.
I think I turned out best of the kids, and when I get out of prison, I'll give you a call.
Your kid,
Marvin “
************************************************************************
"Meems,
I just got home from the hospital today June 2. Over the weekend they had Airfest so I was able to see 6 jets flying in formation from the hospital window and it was a short but awesome sight. Really brightened up my day." GrannyStiches commented on your blog post on eons.com:”
************************************************************************
"People are bad mouthing you in group, put this hat on quick so you don't get hit with a brick bat.
Congrads on the article.
If the newspaper wasn't faltering before, this should help to put it out of business." Marv”

Well, Kids…. With the way the interview went, I expected to see more about Eons itself; had no idea the article was a general comment on the elderly and dementia. The fact that on-line social networking helps reduce or delay the onset of dementia.

Don’t get me wrong, the article was well written and gave several examples of people over 70 becoming active in the cyber world. The SocNet… However, I was disappointed to find the very things I was so involved in and stressed were not mentioned…

I do not JUST ‘chat’ with people for 14 hours a day. I do NOT sit or stand around with my fingers in my mouth all the time… Ala the pic in the article. My fingers get wrinkled and wet wrinkled fingers don’t look good with my ‘dimonts and rubeee rings… I don’t wear makeup either… For the same reason! Gotcha… Shut up KK. I know how to spell dimonts… lolol Sometimes…lolol

No, I am not housebound! I choose to be alone. I moved here to the edge of the Daniel Boone Forest Preserve deliberately. Here, I can see the colors of the day… the crystal lights of the stars on a clear night. I can hear the winds talking to the leaves… and the stream arguing with the surrounding rocks after a heavy rain.

No, I had expected to see references made to the many and varied groups within Eons. The interplay between friends… The tormenting and teasing. The help for others, the kindnesses that reside inside and between the many groups. The ability to reach out to Eons Team’s support by groups requesting assistance … The speed with which Eons reacts to ‘threats’ to their membership…i.e., spammers, scammers and the like. The educational capabilities of all our members/groups who teach ‘how to’s…Thanx Boss.

I had hoped to see the mention of mine…My guys and gals… my military, my veterans, my officers (PoliceLink)…Well, I guess I tripped over my own ego on my expectations. That’s ok tho.

Thanx for all the kind words from all… lolol

Take care all of mine… Go in safety always… Remember, never volunteer, volunteering will get you every time! Lolol

Many hugs and much love… meems/emom/mmm/em/Paula/evilmom/ the list goes on and on!

PS..Had terrible electric storms overnite… Not much rain with it tho. This morning, a/a 0730 hours… the lights flickered and finally went out to stay…Well, bummer! Dark, grungy, cold and wet? I went back to bed! Lololol .. hugs all

1/2 boy 1/2 man

If you read this, you WILL forward it on. You just won't be able to stop yourself.

The average age of the military man is 19 years. He is a short haired, tight-muscled kid who, under normal circumstances is considered by society as half man, half boy. Not yet dry behind the ears, not old enough to buy a beer, but old enough to die for his country.

He never really cared much for work and he would rather wax his own car than wash his father's, but he has never collected unemployment either.

He's a recent High School graduate; he was probably an average student , pursued some form of sport activities, drives a ten year old jalopy, and has a steady girlfriend that either broke up with him when he left, or swears to be waiting when he returns from half a world away. He listens to rock and roll or hip-hop or rap or jazz or swing and a 155mm howitzer..

He is 10 or 15 pounds lighter now than when he was at home because he is working or fighting from before dawn to well after dusk. He has trouble spelling, thus letter writing is a pain for him, but he can field strip a rifle in 30 seconds and reassemble it in less time in the dark.

He can recite to you the nomenclature of a machine gun or grenade launcher and use either one effectively if he must.

He digs foxholes and latrines and can apply first aid like a professional..

He can march until he is told to stop, or stop until he is told to march.

He obeys orders instantly and without hesitation, but he is not without spirit or individual dignity.

He is self-sufficient.

He has two sets of fatigues: he washes one and wears the other. He keeps his canteens full and his feet dry.

He sometimes forgets to brush his teeth, but never to clean his rifle. He can cook his own meals, mend his own clothes, and fix his own hurts.

If you're thirsty, he'll share his water with you; if you are hungry, his food. He'll even split his ammunition with you in the midst of battle when you run low.

He has learned to use his hands like weapons and weapons like they were his hands.

He can save your life - or take it, because that is his job.

He will often do twice the work of a civilian, draw half the pay, and still find ironic humor in it all..

He has seen more suffering and death than he should have in his short lifetime.

He has wept in public and in private, for friends who have fallen in combat and is unashamed.

He feels every note of the National Anthem vibrate through his body while at rigid attention, while tempering the burning desire to 'square-away ' those around him who haven't bothered to stand, remove their hat, or even stop talking.

In an odd twist, day in and day out, far from home , he defends their right to be disrespectful.. Just as did his Father, Grandfather, and Great-grandfather, he is paying the price for our freedom. Beardless or not, he is not a boy. He is the Fighting Man that has kept this country free for over 200 years.

He has asked nothing in return, except our friendship and understanding. Remember him, always, for he has earned our respect and admiration with his blood.

And now we even have women over there in danger, doing their part in this tradition of going to War when our nation calls us to do so.

A Prayer wheel for our military...
please don't break it Please send this on after a short prayer.

or view link www.eons.com/photos/photo/526699-HERO

Prayer
Wheel

'Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. Amen.'

When you receive this, please stop for a moment and say a prayer for our troops in
Afghanistan , sailors on ships, and airmen in the air, and for those in Iraq , Afghanistan
and all foreign countries.

There is nothing attached...
This can be very powerful...

Of all the gifts you could give to every Law Enforcement, Airman, Soldier, Marine, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine or Sailor, prayer is the very best one.

2009*5*29 1027hrs

I really must quit watching the Golden Girls! Lolol They are a bad influence on me. And I was bad enuf before!

Did I tell you about hugging the trash man? Well, I did, hug him, that is! In my old red bathrobe… lolol right out on the road by the mail box! There goes his reputation!

I was standing on the side porch with my coffee when he comes down the road to pick up the trash… I walked down to thank him for doing a good job. The county is taking over the pick-up in June.

In the process of discussing the up-coming county changes, I mentioned playing with mine and the daily news. OMG! He is one of mine… A Viet Nam vet! I think I scared the heck out of him by my reaction. Lololol

I asked if I could give him a hug and he said OK. I was thrilled. We didn’t talk too much about the war… but I did give him the hug. And yes, Marv, I had my teeth in! Just in case you were wondering! LOLOL Gotcha again!

Question? How come it is that two very small kittens and one really large puppy can cause so much trouble in such a short amount of time? Have I died and this is my punishment for all eternity? Will I survive the maturing period? Will they? Lolol I swear that Viva would make the perfect bus boy/girl in a restaurant. She can clear the kitchen table in a heartbeat. She is doing her level best to get to the cat food… She complains mightily because she can’t reach it…. Barks and whines and talks…OMG! Another talker! Lolol

This morning, the Newbie wanted inside! He’s standing outside the back door… singing again! I need a revolving door … would be a big step forward in simplifying my life if I had one!

My poor bed is a total disaster again… Ophie has been trying to steal my pillow again. (what is going on with her?)…Pyggs is king of the mountain right now… On alert for the Dangels… Spudley is flat on the floor peering under the bed watching said Dangels. Max is asleep by my feet… Lily is wandering around in here somewhere and I think it’s time for me to take a nap! I get tired just thinking about the fall out and the fur!

Bunky discovered his tail this morning… lolol I fell on the floor laffing! His tail tapped him on the side. He spotted it…around he went! Oopsie! Disappeared! He’d sit…Tail, having a mind of its own, would sneak around and tap him on the side again!

Now this went on for about 5 minutes…until Bunky and I were both dizzy. He seems to be a little slow on the uptake… lololol

Gee whiz! Been on the phone all morning… Got a px from BG… She’s back on line! Lolol … So is the rotten Annie… Look out Eons… I think we are ALL in trouble. Welcome back Ladies, I’ve missed you…

Jessie called… Will be out later today to mow IF it dries out some…We had another ½” of rain overnite…. A total of 12” +/- of rain this month.

Later Brats… Take care…go in safety always. Remember to look, really look at the rain as it falls… It can tell you much.

Many hugs and much love… meems

2009*5*27 1616hrs

I know, I know… I am very late! I guess I’m gonna have to make another trip to Storm gods weather Central again! Sheesh… Storm gods cam thru twice today already and dropped 9/10” of rain in no time at all… This part of KY now has Flash flood warnings until midnite tonite. Looks like another go-round is coming up. I’ve spent more time off line the last few days than I have been on!

Anybody interested in renting, leasing or buying a classic ark? I can even provide animals and fish and bugs and other critters… Bring your own oars and steering set up! Does this sound like a bargain or what?!?! Lololol

Oh I forgot to mention the going rates for a used ark… Well, we can discuss this later! She says gleefully! Hee Hee Hee… I’s gonna be rich! Lololol

Oh, the Ark… I supply kitties for the mice on the arks… Please take a kitty… Please! OMG! I got chewed on over nite… foot was attacked… fingers bitten… I heard thumps and bumps all nite long! Bounce, bounce bounce over and on this old body… I couldn’t take a nap right now if I wanted. Delilah is fascinated by the keyboard and the movements on the monitor…Bunky likes the printer! Helllllllp! I think I am out-numbered and in real trouble!

The Newbie has taken up residence in the middle of my pile of covers….The floor is covered with newbie hair again. Her ladyship, the Viva, has been rearranging the kitchen again. The Stove spoonholder is on the floor… the wrappers from the chicky cordon bleau are scattered on the floor… another cup of coffee bit the dust and has spread across the floor…a small carboard box has been scattered to the winds of chance from kitchen to apartment… and I don’t feel well myself! lolololol

The tarpins: lolol I now have 5 in the aquarium… two little girls and 3 little boys. I don’t know where the Spudley is getting them. I can’t believe this… but I guess it’s ok… They are safe… and no decent self respecting germ or bacteria could bring itself to live here…. Lolol

Oh yes, the ticks! Well, I woke up the other morning and had a tick attached to my cheek! NO, not that one, the one on my face…that still doesn’t sound right… Anyway, trust me, the cheek above my shoulders… Hmmm… that doesn’t sound right either.

10-3 (disregard the above)… lolol

Where I was trying to go (about the tick) was I now have an itchy bump on my left cheek!

I quit… 10-3 again… I have the giggles… lolol

My flyguys have been playing up there and leaving contrails all over the place when I can see them. Them clouds was fierce yesterday and today but I can hear them when they go over. My flyguys, not the clouds. I did get some pix of the clouds and light yesterday late but I could also feel the static in the air… I know better than to be out when the lightning is playing around but I will be to do it anyway! If you hear that I have been fried by the storm gods, you’ll know I was out playing the rain and taking pix…. lololol

Worked on the painting yesterday too… Hard going for some reason…Nothing I’ve done with it so far has satisfied my ‘want to do’s.’ I can get really grumpy when a painting isn’t going well. I’ve been known to burn a lot of paintings… cut the canvases to shreds… throw items across the room… and that’s just for starters… I have learned, however, not to do that any more… way toooooooo expensive to ruin/destroy the canvases…

I’ll just store up the frustrations and take it out on Mr. A the next time he shows up! NOW, that thought gives me a lot of pleasure. I need to get in some range practice anyway. The 22 revolver loaded with birdshot is a great way to practice.

Well, I guess that’s it for now… I need to fix sumfin to eat… and the kitties have decided they are starving (not!) lolol

Take care all of mine, go in safety always. Remember there are arks and critters available here on the mountain. Lololol

Hugs and much love… The running between the raindrops meems

MY LADY OF THE FLAG...
Memorial Day 2009

2009/5/25 1229 hours

The following is from Jasmin... my buddy and roving reporter in Maui.

“Hi Paula...Just wanted to say aloha and thank you for the faithful delivery of the Mountain News right into my mail box. The Coconut Wireless hoots and hollers when the Mt. News comes over the wires. I also wanted to let you know that my thoughts and prayers have been with you through this potential house payment hike ordeal. I am hanging on by the Grace of God…..

“Today I am thinking of all the men and women who have perished or been disabled while protecting this beautiful country and all of its citizens. My party days are long gone...thank God...and now my thoughts dwell on gratitude and just being able to live out another day in my own simple personal paradise. Like you I love, and am loved...so what more can one ask for.

“Just know I am thinking about you and your crazy mountain brood. Much Love, Donna”

Excerpts from Jasmin in Maui…

TO ALL OF MINE… MY BELOVED GALS AND GUYS, DEAR HEARTS…

Thank you for your sacrifices…

Thank you for your giving hearts and lives…

Thank you for your sacrifices…

Thank you for NOT giving up when that would have been the easiest route.

Thank you for bearing the scars inflicted… internally and externally.

Thank you for giving me the freedom and security to have another birthday in safety.

Thank you for giving your all so that mine can live in security knowing you are there.

Thank you for making it possible to go in safety.

Thank you for giving me the freedom to be who I am.

All you have given allows me to laff, love, live life to the fullest. Thank you all!

Take care all of mine… go in safety always… You are NOT forgotten. Not now, not ever!

To all of mine, all my love… meems
