So…OK… I am here… not sure about anything else tho. Lolol Well, I am sorta!

I put the apartment building together and it’s up. Now, if it’s gonna stay is a whole nother ball game! It sorta leans to the south a bit and it not quite as tall as the birds might like. But we shall see. I need to find a couple of 24” rebar. Just to stabilize the bottom holding rod.

It ain’t the purtiest thing I’ve ever made but it will do for testing. BTW, I can spell correctly most of the time… but then again, I DO make up words as I go along. And POGO BRAT! I do know how to spell brane… I just choose not to.. and I just left a preposition dangling! So there!!! Pogo did two gotcha’s on me yesterday and I am just now getting even!

And then there was this from Sherri this morning….
SherriAnne commented on your blog post on eons.com:
"When I was a military spouse during VietNam, one of the duties of which my husband was most proud was standing as color guard at military funerals. He was one of those who fired the 21 gun salute. It was hard, it was painful and sad- and it was the most fulfilling act imaginable.
I don't have to support the administration of this country- I do have to support those who have taken up the standard to protect and defend it. Just as I am honor bound to thank every member who has served, I am honor bound to show my support.
Thanks for sharing this meems"
Anytime, dear heart, anytime…
And I received this from Baggage1 “A site called togetherweserved.com offers the different branches a chance to find buddies and talk about just about anything. I found some guys I served with on there.
I gotta tell ya that Baggage1 is a real brat but one of my brats! Any of my guys and gals need some help or info contact him… (He is gonna kill me) gotcha.. ain’t gonna be bored now… lololol hugs
It must be the weather or sumfin! I let the Lilyputz out this morning. Come back here to the apartment and start to work. I hear the Lil wanting back in. I am busy… The Lil will not shut her mouth…MOM! LET ME IN MOM! Coming from that fuzzy face on the wrong side of the door. OK OK.. I get up and go down the hall. Well ratz! I forgot to bring my coffee mug with me.
I get to the kitchen door and wave her ladyship in! This will not do! According to her, I took too long. I was mistreating, abusing, maltreating, and various/assorted complaints, the Lily! She should be so lucky, but she did give me to know in no uncertain terms that I was not to do this again or she would report me to the doggy welfare people! Do the doggy welfare put the people in jail? Oh boy, for how long do you suppose? I sure could use a vacation.
Well, I did a couple of mea culpa’s and her ladyship condescended to forgive me temporarily! Just DON”T do this again. Yes ma’am, I say, as I curtsy… bending double with the giggles… Trying my best not to show the smile on my face… Her do get huffy sometimes. Crackin’ up!
[Apartment for the Swallows]
or view link view link
Oh I was gonna tell you about the first time I ever got really snorked on whiskey! The Boss asked why I was painting whiskey bottles…???… Sheesh, I explained for the 3rd time I was painting plastic two liter pop bottles. Empty pop bottles, at that… for Swallow houses.
I might sniff the Vanilla bottles once in a while but I don’t drink whiskey… Especially Kessler’s. Is that brand still being made?
Well, way back in the dark ages.. I was about 16… my buddy had a date and I was asked along. Her date had a bottle of Kessler’s … the three of us killed the bottle straight, no mix nor ice. In no time at all, my brane was pickled. Oh man! Was I ever tanked! And oh boy! Did I ever get sick! Well, I sort of ruined the party.. there ain’t nothing romantic about sitting in the front seat with a first time drunk!
They took me home… dropped me off and went on their merry way.
Oh, I made it upstairs to the apartment all right. Got myself ready for bed (nitegown was on wrong side out) Crawled into bed. Flopped on my back. And thot I was gonna die! The bed started rolling from side to side. I was rolling right along with it.. Oh dear! I just KNEW I was gonna die!
Snorked as I was, I swore that I would never get drunk again and I would NEVER drink whiskey again. For many years, I would have a beer now and then. My favorite tho was/is brandy… Apricot or blackberry being the tastiest! I discovered too that I have a bad reaction to booze.. One drink now, and I have a two day hangover. My doctor at the time back in Ohio thot that was hysterically funny! Trust me kids, I don’t have two days to devote to recovering from a hangover. It’s funny now, but it wasn’t back then.
My vices now are cigars, coffee, diet cola, standing on street corners, chasing men and lying a lot. But, not necessarily in the above order. These I still enjoy! Your choice as to which is true or not!
Take care all of mine.. go in safety always… Remember to stay away from Kesslers for your own sakes.
Many hugs and much love … the sober but slightly crazy meems

Red Shirt If the red shirt thing is new to you, read below how it went for a man...

Last week, while traveling to Chicago on business, I noticed a Marine sergeant traveling with a folded flag, but did not put two and two together.

After we boarded our flight, I turned to the sergeant, who'd been invited to sit in First Class (across from me), and inquired if he was heading home.

No, he responded.

Heading out I asked?

No. I'm escorting a soldier home.

Going to pick him up?

No. He is with me right now. He was killed in Iraq, I'm taking him home to his family.

The realization of what he had been asked to do hit me like a punch to the gut. It was an honor for him. He told me that, although he didn't know the soldier, he had delivered the news of his passing to the soldier's family and felt as if he knew them after many conversations in so few days.

I turned back to him, extended my hand, and said, Thank you. Thank you for doing what you do so my family and I can do what we do.

Upon landing in Chicago the pilot stopped short of the gate and made the following announcement over the intercom. "Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to note that we have had the honor of having Sergeant Steeley of the United States Marine Corps join us on this flight He is escorting a fallen comrade back home to his family.

I ask that you please remain in your seats when we open the forward door to allow Sergeant Steeley to deplane and receive his fellow soldier. We will then turn off the seat belt sign."

Without a sound, all went as requested. I noticed the sergeant saluting the casket as it was brought off the plane, and his action made me realize that I am proud to be an American.

So here's a public Thank You to our military Men and Women for what you do so we can live the way we do.

RED FRIDAYS… HEADS UP

Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing Red every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be called the "silent majority." We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for God, country and home in record breaking numbers. We are not organized, boisterous or overbearing.

Many Americans, like you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize that the vast majority of America supports our troops. Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday -- and continues each and every Friday until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that ... Every red-blooded American who supports our men and women a far, will wear something red.

By word of mouth, press, TV -- let's make the United States on every Friday a sea of red much like a homecoming football game in the bleachers. If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances, coworkers, friends, and family, it will not belong before the USA is covered in RED and it will let our troops know the once "silent" majority is on their side more than ever, certainly more than the media lets on.

The first thing a soldier says when asked "What can we do to make things better for you?" is. "We need your support and your prayers."

Let's get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example, and wear something red every Friday. -----

This was forwarded to me by my good friend, Cheryl H. Thank you, dear heart.

This story has been around for a while… True or not, it is an excellent idea for all Americans to honor our troops in such a simple and yet attention getting manner. From rubies to red hair clips… red cuff links to a red dot on a safety helmet.. Best yet.. get a red shirt of some type… I have several reds from T’s to silk…or a scarf or tie or or or. Use your imagination… Send pix to the guys and gals… they will get a smile, a laff, or a giggle out of it… Best of all, they will know someone out there cares and that they are not alone.

Take care all of mine… go in safety always. Remember that Friday is REDs day and no, I am not talking about baseball teams…

Many hugs and much love… the red hot meems

My very favoritest and a different version….

Meems has a new toy..  YouTube.  Wowser, I am having the best time!  I even managed to upload or down, whichever, several versions of Scarborough Faire to my profile page on Eons.  Will wonders never cease… Learned how to do TWO new things in ONE month.  I know these are easy for most everybody but not for me… Remember the lil ol lady who can’t do numbers and stuff?  Lolol  For me, this is a big deal!  And wonder of wonders, I am just beginning to read and understand some of the codes…

Now this is a scary thing… puters are logical if nothing else… and you all know that I have little to no logic in this brane of mine… lolol Shut up Marv!  (When I go into my logic mode, somebody is in real trouble)  Crackin’ up…

Oh, I gotta tell ya about yesterdays puter mayhem!  LOLOL  I got this big red flashing warning that I had a whole slew of Trojans, 16/17 of them running around in puter.  What do I do?  I panic immediately… Warning says ‘ do not shut down puter’… OK… I try to remove flashing notice… no dice…

Head for the telephone, call IP tech service…Nice young man answers… I try to tell him what’s going on… My mind goes blank…shut up Marv!  I cannot find the right word.  So I tell the tech about the ‘Spartans’ warning!  He didn’t even laff… He translated my confusing description with no problem at all.  Lolol  Did you all know that I have a reputation that precedes me?????  Lolol

Well, nice young man didn’t know what he was talking about…(that it was just an ad) I couldn’t get flashing message to clear.  Called tech back… different guy..

Now, different guy tells me that I have a real problem… take my puter to somebody to have it fixed/cleaned out/ all that good stuff!  Hmmmm!  Screaming panic now!  Why did I bother to call…

I call Bryan, the man who fixed and upgraded my puter the last time I had big troubles.  He told me what to do and I am happy to say, Run-a-muck (Jessie’s name for my puter) is now working.  YESSSSSS!  Thank you Bryan!

Everything is updated now but I am missing a few things from my task bar up top… Learning a new language again!  Daggone it… I have all kinds of new ‘to learns’.

I was just thinking there is something deeply profound and moving in the music of Scarborough Fair, Greensleeves, and a few other melodies.  These have been around for centuries and continue to remain popular and moving to the listener.

Another song that comes to mind… Come Wander With Me, Love.  A Twilight Zone program with one of the Crosby boys, Gary maybe?  The song tells the story; the story is the song.

Back in the days before YouTube, there was nowhere to go to find the music.  I taped a repeat of the TZ show… Figured out the chords and melody for the guitar and memorized the words…Once upon a time ago…I sang and played the guitar.  I still miss singing.

Well, kids…  I am outa here for the time being.  Keep fingers crossed that puter stays working today…

Take care all of mine… Go in safety always.  Remember to really listen to the sounds of nature and those of mankind.

Many hugs and much love.  Meems

PS.  Storm clouds rolling in…

Well, ratz!  I gotta get some things out of my system!  I’m still itching! (will it never stop?)  Benadryl helping some… The Boss suggests (strongly, I might add) that I do sumfin about my meds! (I think he is referring to my charming disposition, not the itchies)  Marv complains constantly bout the timing or lack of the News.

Newbie now stands at the back door and starts howling when he wants in/out.

I get to the back door and get the “look”… Staring straight at me with body language saying ‘what kept you?’  None of this ‘you are the Boss Lady’ from him.  The Newbie has definite expectations when it comes to courtesy.

According to the Newbie, we, he and I are partners.  Him has a mind of his own and a problem with selective deafness!  Have you ever been ignored by a hundred and eighty pound dog?  No????  Then, you haven’t lived!  He can even ignore the happy magic word ‘GOODIES’.  Not for very long mind you but he will arrive in his own good time to be treated!  Lollol  None of this submissive, tail wagging, puppy like behavior for him!

Uh uh!  Mr. Dignified, him! Lolol Unless he’s dancing!  Then he cracks me up…

(Pmac has a white newbie type dog… lolol  Haven’t talked to him in a while…need to see how the his critter is doing.)

And Lilah is having the time of her life… lolol I went to the back door the other day to let the Spudley come in.  He’s on the mat right outside the door…tail wagging, waiting for me to open the door.  Well while he is waiting, he doesn’t seem to notice a small black kitten attacking his tail.  Does Lilah have a tether-tail game of her own going?  Yup yup, looks like she does.  Spuds and Lilah are good friends now and Newbie chooses to ignore her.

And here is the Ophie with the soon to be destroyed feather pillow.

Or view link  http://www.eons.com/photos/photo/580353-Ophie-and-the-feather-pillow

Now kids, I’ve been on my own for more than 25 years.  Just me… nobody to depend, lean or rely on!   Sometimes it’s been rough…but I’ve always managed. Hopefully, I will continue to do so.  I am back to my normal meds… the infection hit the highway…And really, the itching is a lot better.

I woke early today.  Got up and let the critters out the side door.  Wow, must have had rain overnite… like .55” of rain. No air moving…Was cool and I was in the shadow of the house.  Saw contrails between the clouds.  Saw one BBSB and waved like crazy.. Came back in the house, warmed up my coffee and went back out the door.

Wiped the rain water off one of the stools, plopped my buns down and prepared to wave and blow kisses.  Another Well Ratz!  Wasn’t out there 5 mins and I was covered with no-see-ums!  Hmm!  This is not working…Wonder if it would make a difference if the wind had been blowing?  I’ll have to check this idea out.  One thing’s for sure.. No going and sitting out in the yard for the time being…

It is gorgeous out there now tho… Breezy and air is fairly dry.  I just walked out to the mail box… and back, lolol… Gonna try some more of that Avon lotion…I think it works better than the OFF spray.  Ah, yes, I’m being a guinea pig again!  Lolol  except for the fur, I think that is an excellent description of my body shape… Shut up Marv… No Marilyn remarks from you please!

I am outa’ here for now… Got a goody book in the mail The Sportsman’s Guide.  Has all kinds of stuff… from shoes to nutz and boltz!  And could I get into trouble?  Oh yeah  lolol

Later Brats.. Take care all of mine… go in safety always.. Remember to check the rain gauge every day… Might be the only exercise you get!  Lolol

Many hugs and much love…  the wants to get outside…meems

Stuck inside… yuckie pucks!  Did manage to run down to the two pumper to get some more benadryl.  At least I didn’t need to make the trip to town… and I bought more makin’s for trail mix…

AH YES!  MORE OF THE MUPPETS… I’m on a roll!  Lolol

AND HERE IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS…Simon and Garfunkels Scarborough Fair.  The following words are interwoven in their version of a beautiful melody.

...On the side of a hill in the deep forest green,
Tracing of sparrow on snowcrested brown,
Blankets and bedclothes the child of the mountain.
Sleeps unaware of the clarion call.
On the side of a hill, a sprinkling of leaves
Washes the grave with silvery tears.
A soldier cleans and polishes a gun.
War bellows blazing in scarlet battalions,
Generals order their soldiers to kill,
And to fight for a cause they've long ago forgotten...
...Are you goin' to Scarborough Faaaair?

...Are you goin' to Scarborough Faaaair?

Now if I could just learn how to transfer this to my music player…I can listen to the replay for hours… must be sumfin wrong wiff me… lolol

Slept for more than 13 hours straight… can you imagine?  Don’t know which is worse… The itchy bug bites or the sleepies brought on by the meds!

As I drove down the road this afternoon, I saw a lot of repaired spots… Places where the hill was slumping have been pared down.  The road has even been widened and graveled!  The telephone poles have been shored up.  Maybe they did that yesterday or sumfin and  knocked the phone service out for a while.  I go nutz when I don’t have a phone or puter!  I did finish the mystery I was reading though.  Better than nuffin!

Things seem to be back to normal right now.. If there is such a thing.  Lolol

I guess that’s it for now… Take care all of mine and go in safety always.

Many hugs and much love… meems

Well, here it is another day… Coffee, tea, iced or not, lemonade.  Working on a post for the side yard… for swallows to have apartments… wind gauge will go on top.  The apartments will be made of empty two liter pop bottles…these bottles will be wired to the front guard from a table fan.   You can attach 4 or 5 bottles to the front guard.

Cut hole in side of bottle.. being careful, burn a hole thru the lid/neck.. run wire thru hole in neck.  Spray bottle white or a light color to reduce the heating from the direct sun.  Drill or use heated icepick to burn holes in bottom of bottles to allow drainage…Spray fan guard also.

I’m going see if I can bend the single hooks that are used for draperies… Don’t know if these will work or not..will let y’all know.  Will need to attach small blocks of wood to the center section of the fan guard.  Run a spike thru wood/guard/and place over the end of a one in pipe hammered into the ground..  guess what!  I never thro anything away.  I will find a use for it.  Lolol

Got the following from Donna, my roving reporter in Maui.  I think I’ll stay in my mountains… Sharks ain’t a gonna get me here… lolol

Afternoon all!  Guess what I’ve been doing!  Yup, zonked out until 1230 hrs. Two small dogs tap-dancing around my belly button certainly got my attention!  Lolol  The critters don’t mind waking me up for their convenience…heaven forfende that I should disturb them… Man!  Do I get the ‘looks’ and the ‘grumblings’.  I always thot that ‘turn about’ was fair play.  Not in their opinions!  Trust me, nobody else’s opinions count!

That is another lesson I’ve learned over the years… lolol

Question: Does anybody know if Municipal, County or State govs pay Fed taxes?  Can’t remember what I read a couple of days ago that prompted this idea… just wondering.

In between running back and forth to town and such last week, I found a package from Bobbi, MeSneakUpOnRocks.  Oh yeah!  Books on ancient Egypt and one on Alexander, the Great.  Now,  if I could just find time to set a spell and do some serious reading.

I guess this is gonna be a bits and pieces News today…

The Lady with the purse at Kim’s office…I was talking to this very nice lady in the waiting room.  Her husband and grandson were there with her.  Jeff is 5 years old and as bright as a new penny. He decided that he was going to bake me a cake.  But no pots or pans to cook with in the toy kitchen.

So I got a note pad out of my purse and made a cake pan for him with a single sheet of paper.. Origami style. Lolol  Long discussion follows about my favorite cake.  Carrot cake, oh yeah!  In the middle of the cooking conversation, I asked if he would look out the window of the playhouse and pose for me…And him did…

or view link   http://www.eons.com/photos/photo/578422-Young-man-in-the-playhouse

Well, he mixes and stirs and turns on the oven.  We wait a few minutes and finally cake is done. Was yummy too… Jeff decided he’s gonna be a cook/chef!  All right, Jeff!

Now, Gramma was sitting next to me…The sound of music comes from the depths of her oversized purse.  Her cel phone.  That purse must have had a gazillion dividers, zippers and stuff built in.  Cel phone kept playing music while gramma rooted frantically for the phone.  I cracked up cause she never did find the phone. LOLOL Do they make ‘glo-in-the-dark’ phones?

Hey Boss… tomorrow is trash day!  Lolol

I just looked out the window… Clear blue sky with contrails from my BBSBs.  I miss going outside and flirting and waving… Well, the hot steamies too will pass and I will be able to get back outside to play and wave.  Them young’uns is up there playing hop scotch and tic tac toe!  Leaving purty patterns on the sky.

Ya know what?  I’ve lost a whole week this time.  It can’t be the middle of July already. It just can’t be.  I haven’t even gotten the Spring work done yet.  Sheesh.. I think I’ve said this before… I have no concept of time nor of money.

One thing I know for sure, I have no perception of the passage of time.  Now, I’ve read that as we age, we slow down.  This may be true, but you would think the passage of time would remain constant and I really think it does.

In an emergency situation, adrenalin flows, the body accelerates in response to the adrenalin.  Everything to the viewer/involved slows down dramatically. Just the opposite happens as we age.  Time speeds up and passes us.  I think I need to talk to Einstein here. Lolol  Do you suppose that the two of us could discuss time and understand one another?  I would think not… We could but try!  If he were still with us.

I am outa’ here for now.. Nap time, maybe…

Take care all of mine; go in safety always.  Remember to look up and see our own BBSBs.  Just think of the freedoms….

Many hugs and much love…  meems

Come on in!  Set a spell and DO share the latest gossip…but only if it is true…lolol  There’s hot drinks, cold drinks and some drink drinks… Help yourselves.  I’m too sorry to get up.  Besides, you’ve been here before and you know where everything is.  Lolol

Thought Jessie and the sainted Gary were coming out yesterday but Jessie called and cancelled.  Might be out today or not to do the grass…lolol

I did some work on The Lady II  and finally it is starting to work.  I guess!  Spent time doing SuzieHomeMaker things.  Have I mentioned before that I HATE housework?  Lol

Oh well, it’s gotta be done…

And I still have the sleepies!  I will be so glad when this itchy thing is over. Stop the extra meds and I’ll be able to stop complaining about being sleepy (not that I will stop complaining) and get back to my normal ‘charming’ self!  Shut up Marv!

Viva is recovering nicely from her surgery and getting into all kinds of things… Ophie is reveling in the pillow feathers… (sheesh)  but is still trying to get back to the pillow to do some more un-stuffing!  Which sorta reminds me of the muppets…

The Banana Boat song with Harry Belafonte…

Well, the muppets in that clip brings to mind the madness and mayhem that happens here at the house.  Over the years, I’ve noticed that even with the best of intentions, things can go down the tubes in a nano-second.  Picture me, not singing, but swinging the paint brush.  Seven dogs and one rotten cat in a very small and cluttered room… lolol Oh me?!?

Take, for instance, the 6 pack +…I can have wall to wall dogs, zonked out, sound asleep..

Peace and quiet and in the next instant we might have a sing-song going… Or a very active doggie gotcha tag in full play or or…Trust me, hard headed dogs, full out run, banging into a people shin bone, is not the way to go.  Wouldn’t change a thing tho.  Lol

I can always sit on the bathroom floor, out of the line of fire, and watch the grinning faces go galloping past.

Dogs DO have a sense of humor…Dogs CAN outsmart you…con you… tug at your heart strings…inflict a serious case of the giggles and/or keep you warm on a cold blustery rainy nite.

Then, there’s Delilah… lolol  I rose out of a sound sleep the other nite.  I was hearing a distant rumble of what my brane interpreted as thunder.  You already know where this one is going, don’tcha?  Lolol

The thunder sounds were coming from Lilah… lolol  She was curled around my head just a purring up a storm of her own.  Lolol  Well, I cracked up.  The vibrations from the purrs were echoing around in my not quite empty attic. Critters are a comfort for the soul.

Gots more laundry to do today… See if I can turn my undies orange again!  I love well water for doing laundry!  The results are always so iffy!  Getting the giggles…

Take care all of mine… go in safety always… Remember to look around and see the funny and the happy side of life.

Many hugs and much love…  the overmedicated, slightly drunk, critter covered meems

2009/7/11 1141hrs

Wowser!  Is this a lucky day or what?  7/11?

Hotter’n hades out there right now!  102° in the sun… and guess who is staying inside this sunny day?  Oh yeah… I’d be fried like a piece of bacon if I went outside!  Sometimes getting older is a royal pain!  However, since the alternative is permanent and grim, I’ll opt for staying inside and aging gracefully! (that’s a whopper.. the gracefully part) I might even make some lemonade… lots of ice … a whiff of vanilla…Park my buns in the recliner and read a good book.. Turning pages will be my exercise for the day!

The Boss Man?  Him done been picking on me already this morning.  That’s ok tho… I will get even when he least expects it.  I gots a degree in ‘Gotcha”  doncha know!  Lolol

Jessie and the sainted Gary should be here any minute to cut the grass before the storms come rolling in.

Later all of mine… take care…go in safety always.  Remember to take a day off now and then…recharges the batteries…

Many hugs and much love, meems
