Hi Darlene.Welcome to November. Just think another month and you will be into Winter:). Are you looking forward to that? and we have summer to look forward too. I see where you have turned your clock’s back this weekend. You get that extra hours sleep and suddenly the days are much shorter. We put our clocks forward the first Sunday of October.
Brrr..I bet that frost put a chill in the air. I always feel that with the first frost any warmth that may have been hanging around since summer is suddenly gone and won’t return until mid spring. Frosts are something that we get a lot of beginning with autumn through to late spring.
Re the Bananas, watermelons and fruit I didn’t mention. Yes, we grow all of those. To be honest I don’t think there is a fruit, vegetable or herb that isn’t grown somewhere in Australia. An English Dr once told me that Australians should never have to take supplementory vitamins because we are surrounded with fresh fruit and vegies not to mention the nuts. Locally, we harvest our pumpkins around May and store them through the Winter/spring. When we grew our own vegies the pumpkins and onions, we stored through until xmas or until we ran out. Just put them on wire mesh racks in the sheds/barns. Occasionally turning them and checking to make sure they were OK.
Last week was my busy and full week. It’s always that way the last week of the month. I had one day home out of seven. This week at this stage there are only two days I’ll be out so it will be much quieter.
Now Halloween is out of the way I guess the next thing is Thanksgiving. It’s not our thing here although the stores are pushing it simply for the money purpose. It may catch on one day in the future. Everything is changing. Have a good day and a pleasant week Darlene. ~Hugs Pat.
A semi busy day here..got errands done and home by 2 pm. Prepped a meatloaf..it's in oven now. Speaking of running out of candy, I'll send you a cartoon over shortly of what was substituted for candy..it's funny. We will see 70 again mid next week. I remember many Thanksgiving meals being celebrated here outside. I rearranged my c,set shelf this morning..shorts on one side, jeans on other side. I know better than to pack summer stuff away. I do, however, need to sort thru my shoes. They're currently piled up on one another on closet floor.I have nowhere else to put them. So I'll take summer shoes and put them outside in building. Will need a storage tub. That will give me more room on closet floor to place fall/winter shoes and know what's what. The perils of living in a shoebox.
Wow... this month has whizzzzed by. Have fun this last day:) Happy Halloween, m'dear Darlene! I hope you're getting this devine cold snap. We were under frost & freeze advisory last nite. Now, that's my kinda forecast. lol *hugs* -di
Good Morning, Melinda. The Bark Night and Pup Wonder reporting for Halloween duty.. From dusk till dawn they'll prowl the streets, chasing villains and sniffing treats---keeping the night safe, one paw at a time.
hello Darlene! it's time to say Goodbye to October....tomorrrow will usher in another fall month and Thanksgiving...with even cooler temps, and Christmas carols! LOL!
Good Morning, Melinda. A kitten cloaked in bat disguise, with pumpkin perch and glowing eyes, Awaits the night when spirits play. And moonlight whispers, "One more day."
I've never been in a corn maze, but they have them here at some of the farms who host events this time of year. We should see sunshine tomorrow. Will warm up to 67 by the weekend. I'll leave my Fall decorations up till Thanksgiving weekend. Yea, thr good old days of Halloween just aren't the same.
Do you have Trick-r-Treaters at your door each year? Living in the country, we don't have any, but remember when we did... it was amusing seeing their costumes and watching our dogs get so excited at each doorbell ring! Have fun this weekend, Darlene! *hugs*
Good afternoon, Darlene. Downsizing is the reduction of "things" from 61yrs of marriage so our kids won't have to. It's been 50+yrs @one residence since we've had any reason to go thru this stuff, unused, forgotten, so off to the thrift store. And some things the kids want now, which is wonderful. Awww... so glad you had frost on your pumpkin!! October is playing w/us this year, for sure. Our frost may come one day this week; can't remember which day they said. Today's in the high 50s. So much better than 80s... I hope we've seen all of that this year! Take care, enjoy your new week, dear friend. *hugs*
Just be logging in todsy..we visited a friend one county North. Ate a late lunch after getting back home @ 430. Rain starts here tomorrow early, lingering thru Wed. One day closer to Halloween..
