Hi Summer - Did Rick send you his new recipes - one called funeral potatoes and the other called trash potatoes.. He wants me try them.. No way.. I don't like the name of them- sounds gross.. He thinks they sound good.. The trash potatoes has a fat burly guy with a flannel shirt on and has a big fat gut.. I wouldn't eat anything he made.. Looks like he might stink! haha! Good night hugs xoxo

ha ha ha ha

This was thre funniest message ever Callisto.

You sure come out with some very funny remarks.

Yes he did tell me about the funeral potatoes, which i had never heard of.

but i did look them up and they do look ok as it happens.

but as for the others no he didnt mention those .but i like you would never entertain a recipe if the person delivering it wasnt looking tidy and clean.

You do actually tell it as it is .and it really made me laugh .ߘ

Good Night Darlene

Hi Darlene! I just got to watch nature in action in my backyard, a hawk, looks like this one, was sitting on the wooden fence, I watched it scanning the yard, flew off toward the back of our house, came back with a small snake in it's beak, then flew back up on the fence, and ate that thing while it was still wiggling around! Had a tasty breakfast and one snake gone from our backyard!

Been a busy week again, but no appts today. Tomorrow, back to the chiropractor. Got a new feeder and we will be putting it up this evening. Had to order a shepherds hook for feeder. I'll get a picture of it and send over. So far the squirrels haven't bothered any of the feeders. Since we're in town, no deer. I'll message you my email.

Hi Darlene i was intending to let Summer know  to see if she may of ever of heard of  them potatoes.

I wasn`t too crazy for scalloped potatoes.

Was always choosy with things growing up .

I did  give them a try  and wasn`t too fond of them.

I liked mine either roasted or fried .

The oil and the salt just gave it a different flavor.

They also have another potato recipe called Trash Potatoes .

Ever hear of them?

If you have a few minutes  check this video out below.

Itsa little over 6 minutes lon.

An oldtimer is making them trash potatoes and they really look good .

Maybe you might like to try them someday.

Maybe someday i will when its cold again .

I would try  dicing up some onions and a red pepper  along with the ingredients  he is using  or try bacon instead of ham .

Hi Darlene! I much rather have a cold bedroom, and use quilts on the bed, I love the feel of them on me..a throw back to when I was a young girl, when we didn't have heat in our bedrooms, (or AC either) I guess.

04/06/2026 19:35:40

Hi Darlene they happened to be talking about  them and  i got inquisitive  and was  checking out videos  and searches.

No matter how you serve it, it's guaranteed to be a crowd favorite!

How to Make Funeral Potatoes:

Combine the sauce ingredients–sour cream, cream of chicken soup ,

6 tablespoons of melted butter, salt, pepper and dried onion– in a bowl and mix them up.

Add
the diced potatoes (you can use frozen cubed hash browns, or use real
potatoes. You will need about 10 small diced potatoes, parboiled) and
shredded cheese and stir everything to combine it, then pour it into a
baking dish.

Crush the cornflakes (I pour them in a ziplock bag and use my hands to
crush them). Mix in the remaining 4 tablespoons of melted butter and
sprinkle cornflakes over potatoes. Bake funeral potatoes in the oven for
40-50 minutes or until it's bubbly. and warmed through.

Hi Darlene!  back in March when we were having those 90* weather, I had cleaned and stored my quilt, but over the last couple of days, I had to use it on our bed again! crazy Texas weather! LOL!

Hi Darlene. Last day of Easter here and almost over for another year. Easter is not like it was years ago. Firstly it was a very solemn occasion and something we respected very much. Then on easter Sunday there was the excitement of getting an egg or perhaps two. My mom always managed to give each one of us one small chocolate egg and a candy one. Do you remember those large candy ones with the decorations on the outside? And inside there was a little egg. I did the same with my children. Everyone was happy then just to receive one or two eggs. Also Hot cross buns were only sold a week or two before easter. They were such a treat/novelty back then. I did the same tradition with my kids and they were so happy. Nowadays children not only have hoards of easter eggs also egg hunts to gather more, plus expensive gifts. The religious significance and true meaning is pushed into the background. It is sad really.  We have two more Public holidays before next Spring. On the 25th of this month is ANZAC Day a day to commemorate the service men and women and all who lost their lives also participated in the the wars and conflicts. There are Marches in all the major cities and smaller towns hold a memorial beginning at dawn. The other Public holiday is in June to commemorate the Kings birthday.  Our humid weather is caused by the Cyclones that rage in the north of the country and along the western and eastern coastlines they then head inland which effects us in the southern part of the country. Cyclone weather happens both in Autumn and late Spring here. A trip to the Hair salon sure makes a person feel good. I usually have a trim every six to eight weeks and go to the same salon each time as the girls there do such a good job and I know them well. It’s overcast here with the occasional shower of fine misty rain. And to think I’ve thoroughly watered the front and back gardens this past two days:). Will catch up again later.Hugs ~Pat~

Good evening Summer - Stopping by to wish you a Happy Easter.. Do you have anything planned for the weekend? I hope you're not going anywhere by plane.. Here, it is outrageously high and getting higher as time goes on.. Hope he's happy with himself.. I use to like him, now can't understand what I ever seen in him.. He betrayed the the world.. AT Last someone who talks sense.

yes he is a war monger.

i could say tons but i dont want to upset your kin in your wonderful country .not on this page anyway .

everything has shot through the roof yes.

prices are going up and up .not only in our countries but all around the world .

I feel so soo sorry for all the mothers of the soldiers that have been sent to destroy and obliterate Kharg Island.

many will not return.

Trump has openly said that he has destroyed the capabillities for them to build a nuclear bomb.

so if that was his original plan .and its true .

Then STOP THE DARN WAR.

Its madness .

And yes he has made a lot of his rich already buddies even richer.by telling them when to sell then buy back stocks and bonds .

and his tone of communication makes my skin crawl.he is so full of his own importance .

wont say any more in case i offend.

Im just answering what you have wrote .

No holidays booked just yet ,but H and I will be going out to ireland soon with my brother and his wife to see his son and daughter in law ."Our Nephew"

its not far away so that will be safe .

I got a cut n highlights this morning. I'm good to go for another 6 weeks, then a trim will be due. Looks like rain is due here in Sunday. Much cooler too. I've stayed in much of this week, except when I'm doing my walks in the yard. I have a feeling our summer is going to be eventful as well.

hoping you have a beautiful day Darlene...we finally go a little over an inch of rain last night, hoping for more over the next few days..

Hello Darlene. Welcome to the new month of April. I hope it will be a great one for you both.  Its semi overcast and very muggy/humid this afternoon and going to be like this for the rest of the week. I’ve caught up with my grocery shopping with enough to last me for two weeks or so.  I took Muffy to the Veterinary clinic for his annual check and vaccinations yesterday also have a nasty lump on his neck examined. Although it’s benign as it is gradually growing Martin has booked him in for surgery next week to have it removed. Muffy has been prone to these cysts/lumps ever since he was very young.

I’ve been working on a new page to replace the Easter one and just about finished. Are you both doing anything for Easter? I’ll be staying at home and away from the crowds. There’s a Market Fair on in town Easter Saturday with home products & Crafts etc but I’ll give that a miss. Nothing I want and too much walking involved. Chat again Darlene. Hugs ~Pat~

Had a beautiful busy day today .

Only one  crazy  thing happened a lady who was  a customer there was sitting on a very low stool  in the bread  aisle ,

i guess she new i was coming soon

She was just sitting there  while her friend was a bit further away.

She saw me scanning the  bread aisle for a certain brand and asked if i needed help  how bout that .

I said no thank you lol

It`s not often you find someone sitting low in an aisle and then  talks to you.  lol

Have a nice Wednesday   night night.

We visited Marie earlier today. She was having a good day. Had just finished lunch when we arrived. I worked in the yard for a short while this morning. Our temps have been sporadic as usual. It was 88 yesterday..today, 61. Tonight, 36. We could see a frost soon..it has happened before around Easter. I hope to buy some flowers soon for the flower bed on N side of house. The impatients I placed there this time last year did very well. Enjoy your weekend -:)

Good morning Darlene, just wanted to wish you a great day.

03/28/2026 00:17:04

Hi Darlene. Well, it’s become hot soup weather here. The past two days have been in the 40’s. I can tell you it’s a shock to my system. I think most of my days sitting outdoors under the Patio/porch have passed for this year and I’ll miss that. Dreading when the frosts set in but that shouldn’t be for a month I hope.

It was my late husband that grew the vegie garden and my domain was the flower section. He grew enough to supply us and more. All the excess I would freeze or make into pickles, Relishes, chutneys and at one stage I was drying them. Had sufficient to last us through the winter months until the next season crops. The one thing he didn’t grow were potatoes. Back in those days most everyone in the country/regional areas grew their own vegies. It’s not worth me growing my own not for one person although I have often thought about putting a tomatoe bush in a container but as I only use about two a week so haven’t bothered.  Easier to buy what I need. I planted Tulips in containers last year and they flowered but there was no sign of the bulbs when I went to lift them.  Obviously they died completely off. That’s the same containers that I have the Sweet peas in this year. Thankfully my back section is high where I don’t have to bend making it easier with the Spinal Stenosis. The front is low and difficult for me so I’ve planted and easy care garden there. It’s just enough for me to manage. Have a great weekend Darlene. Hugs ~Pat~
