August occupies a unique space in the calendar. For many, it is the peak of summer, but for those who find little joy in the heavy heat, (like me)... it represents something far better: a threshold. It is the final gateway to the "ber" months, a period of cooling air, shortening days, and the quiet comfort of autumn.
