BFF #82 -- MIRACLES DO HAPPEN -- Blogging For Fun/Miracles
Posted On 01/18/2011 03:15:32

This week's BFF #82

"Blogging For Fun" Inspiration:

MIRACLES DO HAPPEN

All around us everywhere,

like rainbows in the sky

the miracles that happen

we don't know the reason why.

But when we might have

just plain given up,

a situation turns around,

and without reason

or explanation

a reason for hope,

a cure,

a resolution,

a miracle indeed.

All around us everywhere

such miracles abound,

and when we least expect them

we have only to look around

and meet them where they are,

the miracles that happen,

no explanation found.

But when they happen,

the unexplained,

the best thing I can do

is simply be very grateful

for each miraculous gift.

JUST LONG ENOUGH - A Terzanelle
Posted On 01/18/2011 01:54:02

JUST LONG ENOUGH

Stopping just long enough to see

as here for such a very brief time

Nature's soul as she beckons me.

Her view nothing short of sublime

resting for just a little while

as here for such a very brief time;

Just long enough to consider my way

and open to whatever Nature brings

resting for just a little while.

Listening to songs that the sweet bird sings

each precious note warming my heart

and open to whatever Nature brings.

Nothing comparing to Nature's power and art

caressing my soul and calming my fear

each precious note warming my heart.

Each song and view held so very dear

stopping just long enough to see

caressing my soul and calming my fear

Nature's soul as she beckons to me.

WITH EACH DROP -- Legacy Writers II Sunny Sunday and Sonnets Saturday Sound
Posted On 01/17/2011 04:23:54

WITH EACH DROP

A soothing balm,

each raindrop as it falls,

each one trickling

down this pane of glass

as I watch from the inside

mesmerized by what I see

a world transformed,

refreshed, renewed.

And each drop as it falls,

one by one hypnotic

as I open the window

and inhale the day,

breathing in new life,

the rain pouring over

and through my senses

and my most inner being.

Stepping into a new life

and a new day,

I can't help but

dance in delight

to the sweet music

of the rain as it falls,

each drop a note

plucked upon the

strings of this weary heart

that begins to share

in the renewal of the moment

as I breathe the freshness

of this new day before me.

PLACES TO GO (And Things To Do)
Posted On 01/17/2011 02:55:36

PLACES TO GO (And Things To Do)

Scaling tall mountains,
touching the sky,
no dream too small,
no dream too high;
all within reach,
no barriers within,
no dream too high
as they touch a crystal sky.

Breaking out of the mold,
jumping out of the rut,
knocking the barriers down,
just focused ahead
and no looking back,
dreams within reach,
within sight right there.

And without those dreams
I don't go very far,
stuck in one place,
no horizons out there.
So I look to the children
and take after them,
flying my kite high,
as high as it can,
way beyond my reach
and almost out of sight.
No limits have I
on where it will go,
I simply continue to dream
for I have many things to do
and many places to go.

ALL AROUND ME (CPC Collab)
Posted On 01/16/2011 02:22:56

ALL AROUND ME

by Barbara

A Cheryl's Pals Collab

In the air that I breathe,
plans and dreams
and midnight schemes,
convoluted thoughts
of another time,
inspiration is everywhere,
even in the chaos which
sings its song to me;
in tragic moments
striking my soul,
in the whispers of ghosts
singing the very saddest songs.
It's in melancholy strains
heard into the night,
as I seek to find words
to share the revelation
as it becomes a source
of joyous continuation.
It fills a lonely heart,
easing the pain within.

Inspiration is everywhere,
in everything I see
and in the words
all around me,
some of them coming
clear out of the blue,
when least expected
and I'm caught unaware.
So I gather them up,
these treasures I find
as I search the heavens
(inspiration certainly
found there).

So it is very clear to me
that inspiration is everywhere,
in the silence of snowflakes,
in the wind as it blows,
in the sunshine glimmering
within your eyes.
It releases the chains
that bind our souls,
melodic strains of music
making my heart glow.
Inspiration is all around me,
it's in the air that I breathe
as I welcome adventure,
while I dream and I dare.

TROPICAL BOUND . . . . (in words and photo)
Posted On 01/14/2011 01:17:54

TROPICAL BOUND

Palm trees swaying
to tropical tunes playing,
both guaranteed to chase
those winter blues away
on this winter day
that's so very cold,
snowflakes falling
from the sky so gray
and landing right here
upon my nose.
For one day of gray
is one day too many
and I'd really prefer
not to have any.

So I'll just ignore them
and travel there
as I sit right here
in my easy chair
and strum my uke
and close my eyes
so I can get a better view.
Just give me one second
and I'll be right there
where the palm trees sway
among tropical breezes
and sweet island harmonies
transport me to a place
where the cold winds
of winter are left way behind
as they chase my winter blues
so very far away
and completely
out of my mind.

MIDNIGHT GLOW -- For LWHP II Friday Byways/"Along a Fireside Byway" (which...

MIDNIGHT GLOW

In the forest dark

of a midnight hour

the flames dance

about the campfire,

their glow bathing

my senses and my soul,

memories long forgotten

shared among friends.

And I am

hypnotized,

mesmerized,

transfixed

by their delicate dance

as they tiptoe,

pirouette

and begin

to slowly fade

into the night

along with

the memories

shared around

the campfire.

JUST PASSING BY (in photos and words)
Posted On 01/13/2011 03:59:23

JUST PASSING BY

Ships passing by,
tugboats straining
under their load
guiding them through
the narrow channels
on their way from
wherever they've been
toward where they are going
as the sun begins to set.
Can't possibly miss them passing by
as I watch their cargoed masses
fascinated by what's inside.

But that's not what most
captures my attention
in what I see but rather
what the ship so massive and tall
paints upon the rippled canvas
of water at its side --
brilliant colors dancing
upon shimmering seas,
mesmerized and transfixed
at the movement in front of me.
And for those moments I forget
this ship passing by
brimming with cargo
and tugboats straining
as I watch the painting
unfold on the shimmering canvas
on this late afternoon
of a Southern California
winter's day
just before
the sun
begins
to set.

NO FOOLING . . . . CPC "The Masks We Wear"
Posted On 01/13/2011 03:18:00

NO FOOLING . . . .

I'd love to be able
to hide how I feel
sometimes . . . .
by wearing a mask,
and covering them up
so no one would see
when I'm mad or I'm sad,
just hide them away
these emotions of mine
when every once in a while
they simply spill over
and begin to spoil my day.

For in my closet
there are no masks I can wear.
What you see is really me,
wearing my emotions
on my face
and in my words,
my feelings given away
by the blush of my face,
the tear in my eye,
the laugh lines,
the smiles,
no way I can hide.

No masks can I wear
to hide how I feel,
and as much as I'd like
to cover them up,
what's there is what's there,
no covering it up.
So I've grown
quite accustomed
to being myself
and any masks
that I've ever tried
to wear in the past
still sit on the shelf
just gathering dust
as they never did fit
this personality of mine.
