Fall,  Food, and Getting Older. . . UGG

I have been like a little girl waiting for fall and all the good things it brings.  I had found small sugar pumpkins on sale at the local market for $1.00 each and immediately visions of home made pumpkin pies;  pumpkin bread and even a new recipe I found I wanted to try, Pumpkin Banana Cinannamon Swirl Bread.  yum yum.  But the best thing I could think of, was that treasure that hid inside that pumpkin... those seeds.  Oh I looked up how to bake them like Grandma did and season them this way and that way and Oh got the little girl in me so excited about the good nutritional snack I was going to make and have with those seeds.

Have you ever made roasted pumpkin seeds from a pumpkin?  Oh what a mess they are.  After you get it out of the pumpkin it is all stuck to the veins and the guts of the pumpkin: and you got to remove them from that.  They, the seeds, are all slimy and ulky feeling you have to stand at the sink and run water over them and clean them real good until they are completely clean of all the pumpkin inner junk.   After the sliminess is gone, then you need to dry them somewhat before you put them in the a bowl and put some oil, or butter ( I of course prefer butter, not maragine but BUTTER!)  and salt and any other seaonings you may want on the seeds and stir them up and then spread them on a cookie sheet one layer and bake them at 300 for 40 mins.  I put cinnamon on mine and oh my my kitchen smelled so good while they did their thang in the oven.  lol  After stirring them half way thru and waiting patiently,  they were finally done and they were removed and cooled as you are suppose to do   Now was the chance to sample my hard work.  So excited  I finally getting what I had been craving for so long the long awaited home made cinnamon roasted pumpkin seeds.  yummy.   .

When you get old  you tend to lose some things,  and the substitutes sometimes are not like the real thing.  some times somethings you are without don't allow you to eat the same things as you did as a kid. .    And.......There they sat.  The so desired Pumpkin Seeds. . .and I could not eat them. .  Why you may ask?   Well, if you haven't figured it out by now,  one of the things I did lose thru the years was my teeth and those old ill fitting dentures do not like seeds of any kind.    SIGH  .....  now who wants some much desired home made Cinnamon Pumpkin Seeds?   I know they are good. ....  lmao  

Hey I still can eat pies and breads --  eyes the pumpkin puree   there is always tomorrow puree lol  beware . . .I am coming for you.....

Oh I am so tired. . .

Yes,  I am tired,  

the political crap started way to early for my taste.  The bantering of the candidates does not set a good taste in my mouth nor does it show our younger people how to get

along.  The people reactions is so exhausting it is pathic.   

People that are belittling Trump and putting him down for events that happend over 10 years ago need to stop and think. And that does that to the other Canidates need to stop.

This was in fact before some of them were born, or some of the people were not even living in this country during this time such as that Noah man that cut into this man running 

for president.  Same for the other canidates.  These same people do not know how it was ten, fifteen, twenty years ago   Our culture and way of thinking has changed so very 

dramaticlly in such a short period of time that it is shocking to an old lady like me.   Their way of thinking just behooves me somethimes and sounds so outlandish and pathic. 

 Now all they want is things given to them,  people to live a certain life style  one and the same as them.   It just won't be that way.    We have men loving men, women loving women, 

people don't even know what bathroom to use now.  Ten years ago,  heck just a couple years ago there was no doubt.  You went to the bathroom of the sex you were born.   

What is so darn hard in that?  God made you that sex for a reason.    

Back in the before 50's 60's and 70s  and yes even in the early 80's, men thought it was moncho to have that "locker room" talk about women and to belittle as we call it now talking about women and their boobs, butts etc.  They thought they were kwell and bragged about how many they touched, brushed or laid at that time.  The majority of it was talk,  all talk.  Just to build up their MANHOOD and EGO.   SMH  too bad the youth of today does not realize it.   

Yes, times and ways of life and thinking have changed and unfortunately  we have forgotten to  take that in mind when we start putting people down and start bringing up the past.

Let's look at the way the culture and the way the life was during that time,  how people thought, how people lived, how the things were during that time of life.  

Let's quit tearing each other apart.  Let's live in some harmony,  forgive and forget,  It was the past,  past is past,  we learn from it and go on and grow as we should  as the text book and all other things tell us to do.

Well, Hurricane Matthew blew thru here with his 65+ MPH winds, and had his fun,  I have a tree on my house  it just uprooted and laid nicely on the side of the house and across the roof my big old 200+ oak on the one side of the house  then the big old oak on the other side of the house decided he would uproot as well and it blew down in to the yard.   All the big oaks in my yard are probably over 200 yrs old in fact. 

I walked into the back yard and 3 big oaks had gone down back there .  One is laying over the back corner of the fence.  Now my one boxer pug is getting out by walking the tree and jumping down.  Her name is Sexy  we go all over the neighbor hood calling  "Hey Sexy,  Hey Sexy  come on baby  get home,  Come here Sexy.!"  lol   

We loss power for about 24 hours which wasn't bad and we lost cable, phone and internet for over 3 days which drove me batty.  Even the internet on my cell phone was not working

I did get my wreaths done so I could get them listed to sell.  I made up 5 Halloween wreaths, 7 Fall Wreaths, and 2 Christmas Wreaths.  I wish I had the smarts enough to learn to load pictures and videos on here or I would put them on here for all to see the storm we had which I video'd and the damage, and even the  high water we have had on the Big Edisto River, in Orangeburg, SC.  Bit of information  it is one of the longest black rivers in the USA.  or so  I was told.  

Only on the corner of Love, Trouble and Crossover do you find this mess.  lol   Have blessed one

I have sevearal family members on both sides of the family,  who practice homosexuality, and well that is fine for them.  I am not to judge how they live their lives  that is for our Lord to do.  

My husband is upset by the actions of this group but as I tell him just let it go,  do not let it bother him, it doesn't affect him or how he lives his life.  I guess it is just the thougth of it that bothers him.  I figure whatever floats their boat and makes them happy now, so be it.  We do not know of their situation or what their relationship is between each other.  Some could be a simple plain platonic relationship, of two people of the same sex sharing one home and expenses living in two seperate bedrooms.  Who's 

business is it once that front door is closed but their's and God's.  No one pay's our bills  and no one pays theirs but themselves so no one has a right to say anything about anything of their lives.

Such as in the 1970's  when my girlfriend Sue Prodan, I would love to know what happened to her  she was one of my old HS girlfriends.   We lived together 

in a big house in Dayton and in Huber Heights, Ohio.   She had a beautiful little girl we called Sam.  She was just a few weeks younger than my first son Jamie who passed away a few months after he was born of SID's.  We had a nice home  and enjoyed living together as friends.  I helped her with her daughter when she worked and she helped me out and we were just room mates.  People could have laughed and said all things about us because normally as best friends you would see one of us and then the other one.  We double dated and shopped together.  To Sam,  I was Auntie Myra  she was just a baby mind you.  I imagine lot would have mistaken us as homosexual. . .but we were not. . 

Maybe we should be careful how we label before we know the WHOLE story  as the old broadcaster use to say. ..

On a another note,  with the moderization of  America now and the mindset of our youth we have to look at the younger generation way of thinking. . are they taking it further than just good close friends as we had it in the 1970's?   Has  Sexuality come into the picture?   Where as in the 70's  we only thought sexual life was only between a man and a woman.  Was it the way we was raised and the way we believed it should be because we were always taught that and the new way of thinking has become the now way?

I am not going to take sides folks.  I will let your heart, mind and conscious be your guide. 

To each their own... But for me, I will follow the laws of God and believe in HIS WORD......

I read this this week in my bible study and thought I would share it with you since it came along with my way of thinking this week.

Hot Potato One: Homosexuality

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."1

About two decades ago a teenager asked me the question: "Do you think homosexuality should be legalized?" 

Regardless of what I thought at the time, much of our culture has come a long way since then in accepting homosexuality as "an alternate lifestyle." 

True, everybody has a right to decide for themselves whether or not homosexuality should be legalized or accepted as an alternate lifestyle. What I did in this instance was share what I believed God's Word had to say about the subject. "According to God's Word," I answered, "homosexuality is an unnatural condition2 It is listed with various other sins which are all destructive to human personality, and as such are opposed by God." 

The Bible also says that God will forgive all who confess their sins, but indicates that those who willfully practice sexual immorality, idolatry, adultery, male prostitution, homosexuality, stealing, greed, drunkenness, slandering, and swindling will not inherit the kingdom of God.3 

If God is opposed to these damaging behaviors, can we justly justify or legalize any one of them? The reason God is opposed to these actions (and all other sins) is because they are harmful to those whom He loves—us. Furthermore, it has never been proven that homosexuality is in one's genes any more than pedophilia is. And if they are, perhaps sin, too, is in our genes because we are born with a sin nature. But would that justify sinful acts? In fact, there are usually deep psychological causes behind many of these external "acts of sin." The causes often have their roots in the past and need to be confronted if a person is to find wholeness, healing and recovery—emotional and spiritual.

If we justify and legalize any act of sin, we harm the person involved much more than we ever help him. It gives him/her an excuse not to confront and resolve his/her problem. 

As Christians we are to accept and love the sinner and not judge or condemn him (because we are all sinners and are probably all guilty of at least greed, gossip, or slandering which are listed in God's Word along with the sin of homosexuality). This doesn't mean that we accept, excuse, or approve anyone's sinful behavior (including our own). Very often it is a failure in love in early childhood that "drives" people into some acts of sin. Only love, Christ's unconditional love through us, will ever draw these people out again. 

Suggested prayer: "Dear God, please help me to always accept what You say and not yield to the pressure of so-called political correctness. Help me to take the beam out of my own eye before trying to take the splinter out of anyone else's eye. And like You, while I oppose all sin, please help me to love the sinner unconditionally and thereby help draw him/her to You for Your healing grace, forgiveness, and victory over his/her sinful behavior. Thank You for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, in Jesus's name, amen."

Sometimes you wonder why you go on with life and just where God is when the Devil is picking on you.  

On Wednesday  I noticed my upright freezer door was ajar.  How it got that way is anyones guess but there is only two of us in this home and I had not gone in there

in a few days.  (darts my eyes sideways evilly at hubby still)  checked and all the fruits, vegatables and all I had gathered all summer long and processed for freezing had thawed out.

I had meat in there for about 3/4 a month still even though it was the end of the month.  Well they were all thawed out and cold though so I proceeded to pull out 

my crockpots and skillets.  The Deer Burgers were still frozen in the center so they all got fried up, refrozen in measured bags. (now since cooked I can add them 

to the food I am cooking with a quick micro thaw).  The whole chicken cooked up in one crockpot and wings in another and the boneless ribs and pork loin in a big 

one  that made up for good pre cooked pork for bbq later in the fall.  

I did decide to cook up the two package of hamburger patties and the 2 pkgs of hamburgers and the 8 hamburger patties I had made up and made hamburger gravy to put over the dogs food that nite.  All of the dogs were very happy Wednesday night and had much love for me Thursday. lol Then Thursday I plugged in my laptop and it would not boot up.  It would not even reset.   SMH  I cried. Also on Thursday Hubby went and got new wiper blades for the truck and well as a mechanic he had changed  hundreds of blades in his life.  Never had a bit of problems.  On Thursday the blade snapped back real quick and broke the windshield.  Very freeky accident.  

Well, the big storm came in on Friday.   Tropical Storm Hermine.  It rained, it blew,  it rained some more. 

To tell you the truth it was a very bad day for anything and anyone. We stayed home during the day. It was really bad because the rain came down in sheets and the wind; they say was 35 mph at least in places.  It had to been because of the way our trees bowed down and things blew about here. I have old oaks and hickorys and they were really bowing and a dancing.  About dusk we hear a big thump on the roof that shook the entire house.  Every dog (3 outside and the 13 inside I have) started barking as well my Cockatoo and my five Quakers was screaming loudly.  We go looking and checking the ceilings throughout the house and  find nothing. Hubby goes outside comes in  and says to me "We  have a tree laying on side of the house and laying on the roof."  Of course I thought he was joking  so I go outside and well, sure enough there is a large oak tree that stood beside the right side of the house shading it for the many years this house has stood here was laying up against my home and across my roof covering the entire back half. Of course this is on a Holiday weekend (Labor Day)  and everyone is gone.  It is dark out and not much we can do but check out the outside as good as we could and come inside and revcheck the walls, ceilings in all rooms and be sure all doors open and close.  The next day we get out and take pictures and husband gets on the roof and gets pictures and a couple of videos of the tree on my roof which was great to have today.  Since it was a long holiday weekend and everything was closed Monday we went into town on Tues the 8 Sept. looking for assistance.   Oh what a day today was looking for help.  It was pretty much a wasted day.  Very depressing day in fact.  We went first to the Salvation Army and they could not help us.  Found out a couple places to go and went to one called Homes for Humanity  They could not help us.  So we go to a place called OCAB they

sent us to  that stands for Orangeburg Calhoun Allendale Bamberg,  they are govt based place that offer school for pre schoolers and give assistance to people who need help with some home repairs, paying heating bills etc.  Of course they have no help for us.  We went to the Dept of Social Services and they could not help us.  And then we went to the Council on Aging and they couldn't help us.  Fema has not been ordered in to SC so there is no help there.  And we have no American Red Cross here in town.  We would have to travel 60 miles to Columbia to even talk to someone.  I called the county's Emergency Management Office and talked to the Asst. Director and as of 9/7/16 there is no help for us.  I have called and sent out emails requesting quotes and got no response from bonded companies.

I went to start a Go Fund Me but they charge both the person and the ppl that give. I didn't care for that idea.  So I started a fundraiser to help pay to get the tree off,  

at Ralley.Com. As of today no one has donated a penny.

 Oh well.  Many years ago I use to chat in a fibromyalgia chat site as WoodsFairy and said I lived in an Big Oak tree. . I didn't know then that I was predicting my future then ... lol

You know  you would think the Devil would give up by now.  I am a firm God believer and Child of God.  The Devil is on the warpath with me because lately I have been preaching about God lately and how great He is. How I feel about God and how I turn to Him for everything and trust Him.  I look at it this way.  He may have pushed that tree down into the ground like that, sunk into the ground, and up against my house and on my roof.  But praise to God above,  there is NO STRUCTUAL DAMAGE there is no lives lost,  no animal, bird, or no real damage lost.  I am alive and breathing  so is my husband.  I have a house still I can live and function in safely in fact because of the way this house was constructed and the materials used.  God is still protecting me against the Devil.  

So  again  GOD 1  Devil 0

How Much Power Does Satan Really Have?

And the LORD said to Satan, “Behold, all that (Job) has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD. Job 1:12

Satan afflicts believers. Don’t underestimate him. He’s not an imp in red tights with a pitchfork. But don’t give him more credit than he’s due.

In 2 Corinthians 12:7 Paul said a messenger of Satan was given him to afflict him. Satan was behind Jobs’ suffering. The enemy can afflict us physically. He tempts us to sin. But his greatest weapons are his fiery darts – his lies about God that he launches against our faith.  We are in a serious conflict with the powers of darkness.

Yet sometimes I hear Christians talk as if Satan were all-powerful. “The devil has really been having a field day in my life lately.” “Satan’s really been kicking me around this week.”

When I first became a Christian I thought demons were everywhere. (I’d definitely watched too many episodes of Twilight Zone and Outer Limits). In my early Christian years I spent lots of time rebuking and binding demons of lust, demons of fear, and demons of unbelief, anger, self-pity, and sickness. Pretty much everything bad in life was caused by a demon. I probably rebuked demons of bad coffee.

Then I found out just how limited Satan’s power really is.

He’s powerful, but not all-powerful. He is the god of this world. Unbelievers are significantly under his power, though they don’t realize it. He has blinded their eyes. But once Jesus opens our eyes to his glory and saves us, we come under his ownership. We’re no longer slaves of Satan. We’re new creations in Christ and share his victory over the enemy that he won on the cross.

When Satan afflicts believers he must get permission to do so, even as he did with Job. God determined the parameters of what Satan could do to Job. Each time Satan requested, God said you may do this and this but not this. He could only do what God allowed.

Lots of people seem to think the devil is the equal and opposite of God, like the dark side of The Force. But Satan is a created being. God is infinite. Satan is less than a speck compared to the infinite One.

If anything, Satan might be compared to Michael the Archangel, another created being. A.W. Tozer said we tend to think of created beings in a hierarchy, for example on the bottom are amoebas, then above them garden slugs and above them fish, then dogs. Above dogs are monkeys, then humans, and slightly above them are angels and then slightly above angels is God. But God is infinitely exalted over his creation. The most glorious Seraphim in heaven is closer to a caterpillar in it’s being than it is to God.

Satan is a tool of God, and when he allows him to afflict a believer it’s for God’s glorious purposes – to make that believer rely on Christ, become like Christ and display the power of Christ in him (see Stephen’s post yesterday).

So remember you have an enemy, but fix your gaze on Jesus, King of kings and Lord of lords.

Pencils

Pencils, have you ever thought of them?  We are introduced to them as children. Some instrument to write with.  We the older generation may remember having to write with the big old pencils when we began to write in what was it first grade, second grade?  Now the little ones learning in pre-K.  OMG

The pencils then when we got to the regular size was yellow, size #2.  You always had to have a #2 pencil to do school work, and come to think about it to fill out certain tests in school, in applying for a job, tests, etc.

Now go buy a pencil.  Yup a regular every day #2 pencil.  Decisions decision decisions when you do.  Hard to find a nice box of yellow pencils 

They now come in designs, cartoon characters, and everything you can think of.  But what is wrong with today pencils?  I have bought I am 

sure 3 packages in the past 6 months as I am constantly writing notes to myself and lists etc.  Everything I write is in pencil  I prefer them to a pen anyday. If you make a mistake you can just flip it over and erase it and write over where you were writing and go on about 

your way.  Ink pens you either have to use some white out or other chemical and wait for it to dry and write over it leaving a white space on the paper or scatch it out and write above or below or beside it what you meant to write. Making a mess.  They do not make the pencils like they use to either.  You use to buy a box of pencils and they would last forever. Now they seem to write out fast.  Back in the good old days you would sharpen and you could write all day with one or two shapenings.  Now you are lucky to be able to sharpen one pencil and not have it to break. As I said I have bought several boxes over the last six months and well I just sharpened the last two today.  I had to throw out three of the five I had left as I sharpened the pencils the lead was broken every half inch.  I would say I had to throw out more than half the pencils I bought as the lead was broken every half inch in every one of them as I sharpened them with my new hand-i-dandy electric pencil sharpener the lead would break.  The wood is not the same,  the sharpening is not the same now as then. 

I think they take and sell the boxes first that have been dropped from the crates and shattered  lol  those are the discounted ones I am now sure of it. . 

Oh well the Good Old Days with the GOOD OLD STUFF.  What has happened to them?  What happened to pride of the making a good product and delivering

that good product in the perfect condition it was made.  smh 

Oh well. . Out of pencils,  Out of patience.  using stubs now.  .least I got a couple for now to use as there were a couple good ones that got thru the boxes without being broken, and I had a few others put aside. 

So flustrating.  smh  Oh well. . .First of the month,  guess I will have to let the moths out of my wallet and go to an Office Supply Store to buy some decent (maybe if there is such a thing) pencils. . ones that are more expensive than Walmart, Dollar General, etc places. .

maybe those won't break.

Sometimes some people do not allow you to do the below, (referring to conflicts, quarrels, verbal attacks, etc),  but when you catch yourself in that position, you stop, and just walk away. . . 

..sometimes the Devil will stop you and make you walk back in it

I was told to go with straight talk. so I get a new phone from them a year ago, an inexpensive zte used it about 6 months and really didn't like it, so i decided to buy up, get a better phone and get a samsung gran prime. . (so i saved my pennies, litterly) and got one after i dropped my only phone the ZTE and shattered the screen, had to get one then, got the new phone on the 4 august, so thrilled just knew i was going to be enjoying things that weekend as it takes about 24 hrs to recharge a new phone ( shouldn't be that way you know lol) so like a kid with a new toy I am sitting there waiting to use and transfer everything from my old phone to the new phone, Find out Friday the 6th they sent me a bad phone, the alarm doesn't work it does not recieve calls, or make calls it does not let me know when msgs come in and first it wouldnt let me send txt msgs under my home wifi system

. LEMON LEMON LEMON SUCKER my little voice is screaming.

So on the 6th of August they say they are going to send me a new phone.I should have it by the next Wednesday, 16th Aug. Checking the calendar yesterday and no phone. it is the 19th Aug.

I call and they now say my phone will be here NEXT WEEK . Now i have paid for the entire month of August with straight talk for service. and have not had it. . .grrrr. still do not have my NEW PHONE THAT WORKS> > > very very upset with the STRAiGHT TALK COMPANY, and with SAMSUNG, for not standing behind their products they sell,, NOT sending out working products the first time and NOT standing behind their word and sending out the item when they said they would or working with the customer.

so folks may I add my CAUTION FOR THE DAY -

BEWARE OF STRAIGHT TALK PHONE SERVICE. .. they are not trustworthy do not stand behind what they say they will do, do not seem to make amends to their customers for the inconvience they cause a customer by not having phone service even though they pay for it. ( so glad my hb has a cell phone that works and we are always together in case we need a phone for an emergency)

smh PATHIC you can NOT find a decent phone service that is reasonable and gives good service where you go these days with all the services that is out there. It is so so sad. . .

Ok,  situtation in USA is getting Dire.  

Question?  

WHY CAN'T WE ALL GET ALONG?

Why are we all fighting amongst ourselves?   Why has all of a sudden the so called police that is trained to protect us and keep us from harm have come so fearful and defensive against their own lives and shooting innocent individuals over what appears to be nothing?  What ever happened to trial before guilty?   What is it with all these protests before the proper authorities have a chance to investigate and find out what is going on and the truth behind the situation that happened?   Why is the public so anxious to get that picture and then slam it on public display without thought of who it may affect or set off.  We do have a lot of psychos out there these days... 

All these questions. . .and no answers.  smh  shame  we all have gotten to this point in living.  What I have read tells me everyone is jumping the gun to point blame at someone.  We americans are now too sensitive to things.  smh  what has happened to the TOUGH people that formed the good old USA?  I believe we all became senstive whimps and the ones that were tough in their youth are now fearful for their lives when they go out bc of the trigger happy folks out there that have no regard for lives, even their own.  What has happened here to my USA,  my America?    What happened to the Lets All Getting Along?  what happened to caring about your neighbor,  taking care of your fellow man?  Loving your neighbor as the Bible says?

I heard a song not long ago, part of the lyrics were:

Dear God, Dear Soul, Dear Mary, Mohammad, Dear Heart, Dear Life, Dear Soldiers, Martyr, Where did we go wrong,  Can't we just get along?

Stand together for one, fight together as one, for justice for all, In God the ripple effect would be strong, if we all would just stand together as one and not pull away in every direction.

I wonder what the answer is.  People don't want to listen to God,  They don't want to get along with their fellowman.  In the bible in 2 Timothy it tells of how the end of times will be and I do believe we are there.  I post that below:  

2 Timothy 3:1-5 ESV But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.

All thru out the bible there are references to end of times and I have read them.  More I read, the more I am convineced time is coming and it is coming soon.  So everyone I plead with you to maybe look some of it up, and see what you can do in your little part of the world to make it a better, safer, and kinder world to live in.  Maybe if we all do this, and work with God to do so and just

GET ALONG WITH OUR FELLOW MAN

regardless of his or her color, religion, etc, just maybe we can save our little world or section of it. . hey a woman can only hope an pray, you know...
