EMOM'S MOUNTAIN NEWS posted about 1 hour ago MONDAY EDITION, I THINK OR NOT! Sheesh! 2010*12*20
Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home!
GIT IN HERE! Another sheesh already! ;p I’m telling ya I must have been a really rotten person in a past life! Re-incarnation by the ‘pay back’ Gods can really be a bear! Anyway, get in here and get warm!
The ice is finally starting to melt out there… I can see the ground in a few places. I can hear the creek roaring down below me… It’s water over ice and can you say: cold?
I’ve decided that living up here on the Lady Mountain is kind of like dispatching or fighting a battle… The brain is either zoned out from no calls boredom or is in the frantic throes of being totally engulfed in panic and adrenalin!
OK, I’ve ended up with two new young dogs. I’ll tell you about them in a minute. Lolol
First I have to tell you about today! I am in bed…1000 hours…toasty warm…nice soft music playing on tv…Rag Tag bunch all sound asleep and gently snoring. Ahhhh…. I’m in heaven…
Well, the door bell rings… the critters go off sound wise. What in the world????
I roll out… grab red robe (why not) pass by bathroom… grab teeth…to the front room door. I look out, no car. I open door. There stands a woman in her Sunday best. Where the heck did she come from? Even with the door open, I didn’t see a car… then the phone rings. It’s Anna.
Tell her about the lady at the door… Anna asks if I have gun? No. Some really bad females running around out here looking for drugs.. Oh dear. I tell Anna I’ll call her back.
I open storm door… Lady wants to use phone. I hand her cordless. She doesn’t have her glasses on and can’t see the numbers. She needs help.
She has attempted to drive up the ice covered road in a 4 wheel drive vehicle… just below the lower curve, vehicle started sliding to the edge of the drop off.
Lady’s name is Sandy, btw. Sandy has gotten out of the vehicle, walked up the road way…a distance of 2 + city blocks. She has her Sunday go to meeting shoes on… Trust me the shoes are not made for walking up an icy hill.. Well, she made it to the door. She has 3 children in the car.. the youngest is 4 years old… Oh dear… We cannot see them nor the vehicle from the house.
Well, she finally made contact with some family and had help on the way. I tried to keep her here until help arrived but no, she had to get back to the kids. I really understood but either choice, stay or go, could have had serious results.
Anyway, Sandy went back to the kids and I dialed 911! God love her, Jen answered… I was soooo angry… and Jen knew I wasn’t yelling at her but I did get loud…â€get Owsley county out here right now! Have them either block the cussword road, or plow it or at least put some gravel on it!†I explained the situation… The county never does anything on this road.
So far, I’ve had a jeep go off the road… a 4 wheeler off the road into a 10 drop off. Rider was hypothermic when I got to him. Now a woman and three children hanging on the edge? Not to mention that last year my heart acted up and I couldn’t get to the doctor even tho I called for help with the frozen road.
Now, you can ‘do’ to me for a long time and get by with it but you don’t do it to others if I can help it! Sandy and the 4 kids were the last straw!
The guy who runs the garage seems to think I am a trouble maker. It seems that he bad mouths me all the time. All I did one time was ask that the dumped trash be picked up at the drop off on the lower curve. I had to laff… This wimp said that trash was two years old. Lolol As angry as I was, I got tickled… I didn’t know there was a pick-up –by date on trash. It had been there for two years and I was a trouble maker? He has no idea. El wimpo has my full and undivided attention… I will go public if necessary… Are you listening WC? Fair warning… I have documented!
Can I get any plainer? Have I mentioned I make a bad enemy?
I’ll have to tell y’all about the new critters tomorrow… lolol I’ve tried to get some pix of the two of them… Big dog is easy to get… small dog appears to be jet propelled! Lolol All I’ve gotten so far are these two pix…

Take care all of mine… go in safety always… Remember that trouble will find you with no trouble! I think I just did an understatement! Lol
Many hugs, much love and much lafter even if you have to dig for it!

SATURDAY EDITION? 2010*12*18 Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home. Get in here and get yourselves warm! It’s cold, miserable and icy… and that’s just my condition… Outside is worse! Lolol I’ll get the bad stuff out of the way first. I forgot to mention that the Spudley seems to have gotten into poison somewhere. I hope it was accidental and not deliberate… Maybe somebody was aiming at the coyotes in the area… I have no idea… Anyway, there was no prolonged suffering that I am aware of…25 minutes from onset, he was gone. I want to send my warmest regards and thanx to those who sent such loving and kind hearted messages. Those messages kept me going. I love you all.. Maybe things will settle down for a while now… The road is covered with ice… So are all the steps, ramps, rocks and anything that is downhill from the house… (and that is everything..downhill…Anna’s been warned to keep an eye on our creek… If she sees a flag of any sort or color traveling down the creek… send a rescue squad!) And it looks like I won’t be having any more of those candle lit dinners for the time being… and it’s a darned good thing I didn’t hire a traffic cop nor a crossing guard… lolol Can you say: no traffic? Lololol At all! Well, spring is just around the corner… or sumfin! I need to tell you that the cats/kittens have shredded the living room and the kitchen both this time. Another roll of towels down the tubes. I still haven’t gotten to the book case yet… I mentioned the “I hate housework†to a friend who shall remain nameless but his first initial is Ron. Ron comes back with the info that he had lived in an apartment for two years before he discovered his oven didn’t work. Cracked me up… lolol I didn’t know ovens were supposed to work. I thot an oven was used to store idle pots, pans and lids. ..or dirty dishes when company is expected. Was I mistaken? Gotcha, Ron! And then, there is always the rotten brat, the Marv! Sheesh! He keeps sending me these tacky/punny/funny Santa jokes. I do a lot of groaning when I get to the end of his emails. He sent me the most wonderful slide show of quotes and puppies tho. Naturally, I puddled up and started crying. Them puppies were sooooo cute. And every one of the quotes hit the mark. However, he did get me started on the idea of another abandoned or unwanted puppy. Hmmm… Well, I talked to Joey… asked him to keep an eye out and I’m putting out the word on the mountain telegraph. I doubt if there are any pups out there right now… little ones but I can take in a 6 month old or two. My body seems to be set on having a certain amount of critters to trip over at all times. And I do miss the games of tag that used to go romping past the bathroom door. Remember the shin guards? Lolol Maybe I should put a traffic lite in the hallway to go along with the one at the end of my driveway. Or not… Somebody will raise my taxes for sure if I do any new installations. Lolol I’ve been on the net a bit looking for puppy, young dog mixes. I think I’m going to look for a Great Pyrenees, lab mix. Or sumfin like that. I’ve found one at an animal shelter at Lancaster.. a young male… But… I have a small problem… I have no idea where Lancaster is…lolol I talked to Becky…. Remember her? The gal who’s lived here all her life… the one who took me yard sailing one Saturday and got us lost? She has no idea where Lancaster is either… lololol God help us all if she gets outside Owsley county… Gotcha Beck! Guess that’s it for the time being… Take care all of mine. Go in safety always. Remember to make room in your heart and home for those in need. Many hugs, much love and happy holidays to all… meems
WEDNESDAY EDITION 2010*12*15 You all may not want to read this one… It is full of sadness. Yesterday, I lost my pal… my clown dressed in a butler’s outfit. My guard, my best friend… a four legged committee designed critter who was all heart and devotion. He loved the meems. He kept me safe every nite. He followed me where ever I went. He made me laff at his antics… his playing tag with the love of his life, the Viva. Him chasing the cats… booting the kittens in the buns to push them to safety. Didn’t matter what the kittens thought of the idea. Papa, the Spudley, always knew best when it came to others. He could read my mind and my body language. When he was scolded, he would come and sit at my feet… tip his head to the side and lift his little short leg and hold out his paw…Now, how could you stay upset with that pose and expressive little black and white face? or http://www.eons.com/photos/photo/532588-Spud-still-on-duty I know I teased about him being in his guard duty posture but I always felt safe with him around. 24/7 he took care of me. I was his life and his love. I will miss him… I had to write this for him… He was abandoned, alone and unloved when we met. We thought much alike, the two of us and he understood me… lol… maybe too well.. We were together for five years…. or http://www.eons.com/photos/photo/623789-SPUDLEY-IN-THE-WINDOW I know where he is and we will meet again … in person… he will be waiting for me…and neither will be alone ever again. or http://www.eons.com/photos/photo/166880-Spudley-5-2-8 Take care all of mine. Go in safety always. Remember that it is ok to cry. We are allowed to be human. Many hugs, much love… and lafter at the fond memories. meems

Welcome home, Dear hearts, welcome home!
%%%%%%%%%%
The following house hold tip is from SusanYvonne! Thank you! Satin sheets will have you in the floor most of the night. Lol
%%%%%%%%%%%%%
I’ve cracked up at all the comments about satin sheets and pillow cases. I am amazed at the numbers of people who have experienced the thrill of going airborn with no intentions of doing so. LOLOL I could start a cascade here but I’d better not. Hard telling the depths to which my depravities might sink! (I’ve been hanging out with Marv way too much!)
I had planned on going to the store on Sunday but with the snow and ice, I figured it was a no go. I figured wrong…GC was at the door right around noon. (doorbell and critters woke me) Sheesh!
OK, so I roll out… heat up a cuppa… plop my buns on the love seat… light up and try to wake up. (btw, GC noticed the living room was clean!) The critters were giving him the pack style greeting. Lolol Like he had a choice? Lolol
Anyway, I manage to get the bod in gear… go put on some decent clothes, warm clothes, high top moc and pin my hair up. Get the critters locked inside and off we go!
Road was slick but not impassible. Still warm enuf to melt the snow and ice off. Lower curve was a little worse but it usually is.
Once you got to the black top section, all the roads were nice and clean and best yet… no incidents of black ice. And, I’ve got to tell you the Tildy was running and humming like a well oiled sewing machine. Woo Hoo! Hoo Raaaah Tildy!
Well, first stop is the two pumper opposite a small strip mall. Fill the tank and run into some old neighbors I haven’t seen in more than 5 years! Hugs and cheeky smooches all around. Laff and giggle swapping some old tales… they left and GC and I went to the hardware store across the road.
Now, I’m in the hardware store… lolol Can’t find a thing I am looking for. Did manage to get to the drill bits. Then the guy working there got a short 15’ heat tape ($32.00)for the outside line… Gonna put it in the basement and hopefully keep the line from freezing. I have a feeling it’s going to be a cold winter.
Let’s see… what else…Oh, I was looking for some wheels to put under the book case… I found 4 the same size but I need at least 5, preferably 6. I found some drill bits and I got some potting soil… A thingy you put on the bottom of your downspouts… a roll up thingy? I’ll aim it towards the big pond out back. I gave up the wheels as a lost cause for the time being.
Next stop, THE JUNK STORE! LOLOL Everything was half off still. Wowser! I found a couple of medium sized bowls. (don’t last long around me) I found a little red clay thingy…miniature of the outdoor heater things… What are they called? Absolutely cannot thing of what it’s really called. Has a hole in the side and the chimney… aha! Chimnea! (sp) Best yet, the sign I spotted last week was still hanging on the wall. I just had to have it! It is now mine! Lolol
or view link
Have no idea where I am going to hang it… lolol Maybe over the front door? Under the clock in the bathroom? Over Marv’s sculpture on my trophy wall here in the apartment? I’m kind of leaning toward the last idea… seems appropriate somehow… lolol
or view link
Gotcha Brat!
Guess that’s it for the time being. Take care all of mine… go in safety always. Remember that if you are supposed to have it, it will be there next week… or sumfin like that… lolol
Many hugs, much love and loads of lafter each day. Meems the thrifty sometimes! lolol
EMOM'S MOUNTAIN NEWS posted about 15 hours ago SUNDAY 2010*12*05
Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home! ‘Tis the season!
Get in here and get warm. Have any trouble getting up the hill? I can see the lower curve is covered with ice… The upper curve doesn’t seem quite as bad.
I have a question here. How come it is that when you clean, move furniture around and dust in one room, the kitchen ends up looking like a total disaster? How come it is when you clean, everything gets moved to the kitchen…? Wouldn’t you think that everything coming out of the cleaned room, would go back into it? Somehow, it’s never worked that way for me. Lord help me, if I ever start rearranging in the apartment. Would probably lose the kitchen entirely. Sheesh.
Well, I was going to move the book case but changed my mind… temporarily. Easier to paint it in the kitchen than the living room. Helpful hint here: If you leave the sweeper out where visitors can see it, you don’t need to worry about how the house looks. You can figure they are figuring they caught you at the beginning of your cleaning frenzy! I think there is some truth in that statement! Or not… depends on how well the people know you. Lololol Around here, the visitors know more about me than I do.
It’s snowing again. However, the ceiling is almost back to where it should be. I can see the hill behind the house thru the snowflakes. How bout it’s 24 deg out there but not windy.
Back to the cleaning again… well, sort of… lolol I was filthy from the cleaning. I had wild critters picketing and complaining loudly out front. I decide to take one of my yummy smell good soaking baths. Yeah, the tame (allegedly) critters did their usual routine… Mom’s in the tub again. Whew! This time all went well… No frogs, birds and even the beetles have quieted down.
I found enuf dirt in the tub to start an indoor flower bed when I got finished. Lolol Onion patch? Garlic bed? Bed bed? Oh dear….
Beds…. Here’s another bedtime story. Lolol Way back when I was working at Pease Woodwork (are they still in business?) I was PBX operator. Well, I dressed in a business like manner but my hair was long and straight. Now, one gal, who was manager in her department, always looked super nice… Expensive clothes and beautifully done hair. Every morning she would walk past my window. Not a hair out of place. I finally had to ask how she kept her hair so nice… Satin pillow case. I stored that info in the attic for a long time.
Skip forward a little in time. I am now Mrs.Dr. with all that entails. Can you say: arm candy?… Mink, diamonds, expensive dresses, high priced shoes, matching bags. And the hair… fancy styles… sheesh!
Well, me being me, I must spin like a top when I’m sleeping. My hair would look like it was styled by Hattie, the witch, when I rolled out in the mornings… there wasn’t enuf hair glue in the whole world to keep it in place overnite.
TADAH! Satin pillow..! Yes! I run right out and buy a satin pillow case. This is nice… even has a zipper. Well, I zip my pillow inside that baby and figure I am all set. Can’t wait to see how my hair looks in the morning.
I spent the whole daggoned nite trying to hang onto my pillow. Satin case would stay in place; the pillow would slide inside the case. Hmmm! I finally figured out that the reason the hair looks good in the morning is you don’t get any sleep during the nite. Awake time equals neat hair! Sorry kids… I’d rather sleep and you guys already know what I look like before coffee! Lolol
Still snowing… Back atcha all later. Take care all of mine…go in safety always. Remember that satin pillow cases are not all they’re cracked up to be. Lolol
Many hugs, much love and lots of lafter. The gave up years ago meems
EMOM'S MOUNTAIN NEWS posted about 1 hour ago Saturday? 2010*12*4
Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home!
OK… tell me how you all got up the mountain side this morning. I have snow, sleet and freezing rain falling outside the window. The critters are underfoot. Starving, according to them… Yeah right! Lolol Ceiling is zero. Visibility zero. The hill behind the house has disappeared. I am living in the clouds! I am also waiting for the elec or the phones lines to go down… Ah yes, each day is a new adventure.
Well, I’ve done everything I can do about SocS…So far, all I’ve been able to find out is that I received an increase… A friend mentioned that it might be because I receive my ex’s SocS. Any way, it’s still being investigated… I don’t think I will hold my breath while I wait the results. The SocS reps in Jackson (nearest office) are good people and are doing their best to get this mess straightened out.
All I can say is that it’s a good thing I don’t live in Chicago. Guess who would have been on the front steps of the SS building? Guess who would have been raising all the roofs in the area with her squalling? Guess who would have been arrested and dragged to jail a screaming? Guess who would have been an untouchable in jail? Granny Grunge outfits scare the hell out of some people… all I need now is a tattoo! Just need to find the right message! And, trust me, I am looking! (F U seems appropriate but just a hair unladylike…) Can you tell I am still a little upset? Lolol
Anyway, I have all this stuff going on, right? Oh yeah, right! Now, do I get any support from the Marv? (I just asked a dumb question! Lolol) All I get is ‘old person’ remarks… Look what he sent me…
or view link
Now, I ask you… is this sympathetic? Don’t answer that! Lolol But I did crack up. That brat makes me laff.. Of course, it’s all backhanded but I love it.. and I do get even!
The problem here is that I can see myself saying that! Lololol I don’t know what it is about all of you but you keep me going. We all know life can be hard but I feel so blessed. I can be on the verge of giving up and one of you will say just the right thing. I think I can’t give up now and off I go again!
Remember the living room with all the shredded’s? I hauled the sweeper in there… The rake… the curry comb, the broom… What else? I think that’s it.
Well, the rake didn’t work… neither did the curry comb and guess what? Neither did the broom… Ok? Well, then I have at it with the sweeper. Ratz! The suction works but not the beater! I think the belt is broken again. Hmmm… can you say conspiracy?
All righty-row! I put the hose attachment on my rebellious sweeper and off I go. Now, the attachment is maybe two inches wide. I park my buns on the floor and start in one corner. Hours later, I finally have the worst of the worst removed. I am filthy and dust covered. But the floor is acceptable.
Gee, I can’t believe so much time has passed…Gots to tell you about the last shopping trip. Was in the grocery store getting necessities only. I hear this little voice saying “Hi†over and over again. Cutest lil feller… maybe all of a year and a half… Him was saying Hi to everybody. Lots of eye contact. I got tickled. What? Who? Me? Lolol I treated him to my flyguy routine.. Threw kisses… Waved and sent hugs. Mind you, this was going on all thru my shopping… sometimes all the way across the store. By the time I got out of there, everybody was laffing and having a good time. I think they locked the door behind me when I left.
Then GC took me over to the junk store… Woo Hoo! I found a winter flag and bot it for $1.25. Has two snowmen on it. GC put it up for me on the side porch… Took him a bit to get the pole holder up.. Would you believe I couldn’t find the right size Phillips head screwdriver. I need to get some new ones… The ones I have are worn out.
or view link or view link
Guess that’s it for the day… more work to do… need to move the book case into the living room.
Take care all of mine. Go in safety always. Remember to feed and care for your friends… they CAN come in handy… lolol Gotcha Marv!
Many hugs, much love and lots of lafter… the recovering meems
Wednesday 2010*12*1 Just a short note here. I will be off line the next few days. I will check my emails and pms… Got a letter from Ohio retirement ref med insurance. Seems like Soc Sec changed the amounts they were taking out of my retirement for Medicare without notifying me or anyone else. How bout they removed $35+/- more in Oct… but only $10+/- more in November. No reason was given for the changes (in the local SocS office computer). I’ve spent the day on the phone. Spoken to two or three very nice people but haven’t accomplished a thing. Anyway, with this Merry Christmas kiss from the Chicago office, I’m going to be zeroed in on the situation. Later all of mine… take care of one another.. hugs and love… meems
EMOM'S MOUNTAIN NEWS posted about 2 hours ago SUNDAY EDITION 2010*11*28 Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home!
Get your buns in here and sit! I’d watch the coffee if I were you… I think I put tooooo much… make that TOOOO much makings in the little white thingy in the cup looking thingy that sits under the lid! My first cuppa was crawling across the counter to greet me when it was done perking.
I’ve decided that in this instance, it’s not the pot… in the top… it’s not the white thingy or the cup looking thingy under the lid that are causing the problems, I am now blaming the problem on the rusty well water. Well???? I need to place the blame somewhere! Would I be a fault? Would I not count the scoops? Would I disregard the height of the ground coffee in the white thingy? Naaahhhhh! Lololol Would I tell a whopper? Oh yeah! Lolol
Now, the following is sort of a long story… Many side stories involved but I will try to stay on the straight and narrow for a few minutes. Whether I can manage or not, I ain’t sure…
When I first moved down here, I lived in a trailer over on Cow Creek, Smith Fork, off the KY river. Trailer front door faced the back. (Looking straight into the hill behind) Back door faced road. You with me?
Back door had no porch or steps… I invested in enuf treated wood to build a small porch and steps… Just for safety sake. Well, the owner wouldn’t allow me to put up the porch. OK, so now I have all this wood… Heavy duty stuff, right OK…
I call the JC. Have him come out to see if he can make a bed to my design (?) using my unused wood porch and steps. I’d been sleeping on the floor for months. The JC comes out.. and makes a bed for me. Then I make the bed after I finish putting in the bottom and painting the whole thing. Still with me?
OK, a short side trip here… I like to sleep with the window open in the winter… Yummy sleepy weather. Sleeping on an air mattress in a flannel gown, wrapped in several critters kept me warm.
OK… lolol I now have a feather bed set up going. A futon to cover the slats on top of an old sheet. Then 3 or 4 feather beds. Then loads of covers. And still the critters… lolol
Now, I have a bed! One that stands on legs 2 ½ feet tall. A lot of storage space in a very small area. Slick right? Oh yeah! Lolol In preparation for my first nite of sleep in my very own bed, I put on a brand new set of flannel sheets… Nice warm flannel! The critters, some of whom are already testing the mattresses, seem to approve.
 or view link
[ This was my bed way back when…lolol This is now!]
I come into the bedroom, wearing a nice clean flannel gown. The critters seem to approve of my looks and even move over so the mom can climb in. (now, remember here, the legs are 2 ½ feets off the floor. Add another 10†for the side board. So, when I say climb in, that’s what I mean)
OK, so I hitch up the front of my gown and climb in. My beady lil brain is all set… head aimed for my feather pillow. Half asleep already and can’t wait to snuggle in under the comforters. Almost there… Oh dear… I discover I have a small problem..
Did you know that flannel gowns and flannel sheets are incompatible? Oh yeah, trust me!
Somehow, the gown didn’t move as I crawled towards the pillow. The next thing I know, I am pinned to the bed… Knees up around my shoulders…Rump in the air. I have managed to crawl up the inside of the nightgown and now I am stuck!
Sheesh! Look everybody! Mom’s got a new game started! We can do this… play posture… ! I started giggling… I struggled.. tried to crawl back…NOTHING worked! I finally managed to fall over on my side to get untangled. I howled, cried, pounded on the pillow til I couldn’t breathe.
When I was able, I rolled off the bed… stripped off the nitegown and climbed back in. Slept sound after I recovered from the laff attack.
Take care all of mine. Go in safety always. Remember the ‘best laid plans’ often go right down the tubes. (Paraphrased an old quote here)
Many hugs, much love and loads of lafter…The tripped over her own ego again, meems… lololol
