EMOM'S MOUNTAIN NEWS posted 2 minutes ago 2009/8/31 0518 hrs
OK! I give up! I am up before breakfast…unwilling and out numbered, I didn’t have much of a choice… Being trampled upon by a galloping herd of 4 legged critters will get your attention every time!
Oh, it is yummy cool on the mountain this morning. Low 50’s and good sleeping weather. However, I wouldn’t know about the sleeping part… Been up since 0330 hrs. Don’t know what got into the 6 pack plus but they sure were rowdy during the nite. Must be the weather change.
I gotta tell ya that I worked my buns off for the last two days… and I haven’t even put a dent in the work to be done. I get one flat surface almost cleared off and catch myself putting more stuff on it… I think I am disorganized at best… at worst, I am a clutterer!
Worked on the painting last nite but sumfin isn’t working right… Ratz! It’s a Symbolistic type again… One that sort of tells a story….needs more work….
And, don’t fall off your chairs here, I watched/listened to a football game last nite! Preseason game with the bears and ? lolol Can you tell I was really paying attention? Lol I went to bed after the first half.
There is sumfin kind of comforting about watching a game after a lapse of twenty or so years and finding that the basics haven’t changed that much.
Let’s see here, I found my crystal ball and my old fold up Craftsman rule. Lots of nuts, bolts, hinges.. Lolol I’ve been on my own a long time…and old country style living says don’t throw nuffin away if it is still usable. I’ve emptied another bin. Yaaa!
I think I am gonna go back to bed now!
Take care all of mine. Go in safety always. Remember to look in the storage bins once in a while… It’s amazing what treasures you will find…
Many hugs, much love and lots of laffter… meems

This is from my dear long time friend, one of mine, Wayne aka Little Jake. Thank you dear heart for reminding me…hugs to you and Carol…
This is pretty neat. Have you ever seen one of >>> our military walking past you and wanted to convey to them your >>> thanks, but weren't sure how, or it felt awkward? >>> >>> Recently, a gentleman from Seattle created a gesture which could be >>> used to express your thanks and has started a movement to get the word >>> out.. >>> >>> Please everybody take just a moment to watch...... Wayne sent me another heart rending email but I could not get it to paste here in its entirety…
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
Well kids… Slug a bed that I am… I slept late… even the 6 pack+ were buried under the covers and around the bed! I’m telling ya that them critters want to make sure I ain’t gonna get away from them… lolol Can you say pinned under the covers… sheesh! Lolol
I just got another email from Wayne…Just full of ‘old person’ jokes…lolol Of course, I resemble that… I replied with one sentence…â€ÂCAROL, COME GET HIM!†Love that man! He’s the only person on Eons who did a +4 gotcha on me at one/same time.
I got even tho… I had everybody I knew at the time to send him a gift! LOLOL Wasn’t his burfday either… lololol He spent a whole day sending thank you notes to people he had never heard of… Poor guy, had no idea what was going on! Would you believe I make him nervous? Lololol Can’t imagine why… roflmao!
Still playing in the basement some… at least it is cool down there… a constant 60 degrees… summer and winter…
Ran across two bins of decorator tins… used to collect them… lolol My collections and art materials have taken over the house… and I spend most of my time back here in the apartment (the master bedroom). Have most everything I need in here except the coffee pot. I even have room for a small fridge and freezer…lolol Any way, I managed to get another bin emptied yesterday…
Several more to go and I will finally arrive at having all my stuff/junk unpacked. Then what shall I do with all my spare time. (trust me, I don’t have much of that… spare time)
I am outa here for now… before the kids get out of school… server is impossible then!
Take care all of mine, go in safety always… Remember to put up more shelving than you think you will need.. the ‘stuff’ will grow and overtake the flat places… lolol
Many hug, much love and forever laffter… meems
2009/8/27..1603 hours Lordy pete it is HOT out there… Got up before breakfast but didn’t stay outside to drink my coffee. Humid, steamy, oppressive! I am being nice here and not cussing! Did you notice? Lolol I found a post by MomHub of a fantastic painting called Discussing the Divine Comedy with Dante… wowser… http://cliptank.com/PeopleofInfluencePainting.htm This thing is huge… might want to take a look… thanx MomHub… I kinda borrowed (?) this from here… Then I got the following from that rascal, Marv…lolol Subject: Interesting thing about penguins that I didn't know.............. Did you ever wonder why you never see dead penguins on the ice in Antarctica? ![]() Ever wonder where they go? Wonder no more. It is a known fact that the penguin is a very ritualistic bird which lives an extremely ordered and complex life. ![]() The penguins have a very strong community bond. They are very committed to their family and will mate for life. They also maintain a form of compassionate contact with their offspring throughout its life. If a penguin is found dead on the ice surface, other members of the family and social circle have been known to dig holes in the ice, using their vestigial wings and beaks, until the hole is deep enough for the dead bird to be rolled into and buried. The male penguins then gather in a circle around the freshly dug grave and sing.... "freeze a jolly good fellow." ....![http://www.incredimail.com/app/?tag=emoticon_click_me&lang=9&version=5863986&setup_id=7&aff_id=1&addon=IncrediMail&id=95202&guid=4FDE78D6-7FA2-4CAB-A66E-D1452A059A5E http://www.incredimail.com/app/?tag=emoticon_click_me&lang=9&version=5863986&setup_id=7&aff_id=1&addon=IncrediMail&id=95202&guid=4FDE78D6-7FA2-4CAB-A66E-D1452A059A5E]() Don't blame me, I just send them on ! Never let it be said that I don’t share the intellectual stuff! Or, go ahead and say it! It’s likely to be true at one time or another. Went down to the two pumper….Talked to El, Anna’s hubby, for a few. He is so funny! And the at the two pumper, here comes Elmer Dale, Anna and El’s son) Well, he tried to hide from me but the store owner gave him away. Lolol ED was hiding behind the baby food section! Well, I drug him outa that aisle and gave him a hug. He was all sweaty from working in the baccer barn. He said something about the sweat and I reached up and dried my hands on the front of his button down the front work shirt…lololol Anna was out traveling somewhere but I just know she will call as soon as she gets back home… lolol Nothing like starting the Gossip & Rumor mill to going! I think I need a new muffler on the truck… you can hear the old girl rumbling miles away. Sounds like the dual mufflers they used back in the 50’s. Yes, Marv, they had mufflers back then… course we did park vehicles in a side cave… when we had one… car and cave! Oh, I almost forgot to tell you why I drove down the mountain… I was out of onions! I can do without almost everything except Caffeine, Cigars and onions but not necessarily in that order.. Oh, the kudzu is terrible along the County’s gravel road to my place. Many many of the trees are covered… the oak, the walnut, magnificent mimosa, all covered and smothered by an imported weeds…I am not a happy camper… Not a thing I can do… I do not own the property…I venture to say that within a hundred years, the mountains will be denuded of their stately hardwoods and whispering conifers. Can you say erosion? All it takes is one person not to care. Damn! I guess that’s it for today. I still need to work on the painting… it’s about half way done…not counting drying time… Take care all of mine…Go in safety always. Remember, Please take care of our forests, plant a tree…It cost so little and takes so little time.. Many hugs, much love and lots of laffter… the evergreen (with little red berries) meems

RE: AN OVERA BUNDANCE OF GIFT CREDITS…I’VE ASKED FOR HELP BUT So far, There is NO way to transfer them…
I have over 400 gift credits... I write my daily blog and, if I am correct, extras are awarded for each blog... I could be wrong on this but I think that is what I have read...
My Mountain News is an almost daily letter from home for all my guys and gals in the military, veterans and active... in country and down range.... all over the world... and is mostly sheer nonsense and fun. 5 or 6 groups, I think....
I have just started Another series to update all service personnel and veterans on the latest news re the military. ARMED FORCES NEWS
I just need a responsible party to help me with the birthdays, to give out gifts while I send the sympathy messages to the families who have lost a loved one. To listen when one of mine needs an ear or a hand or just a kind word. I let them know as often as I can, they are NOT alone.
I do have a lady that I trust to do this for me but I need to transfer my gift credits... thanx for the help ... I appreciate it... Paula Rice/meems/ emom101
That being said, I am still playing in the basement! I am gonna be carried out of here kicking and screaming should the need arise. I AIN’T never, ever ever even gonna move again!
I’m crackin up … Phone just rang… was confirm of Rx order… I just said yes, no and Goodbye to a computer! OMG! Roflololol Lordy pete, I’m in bad shape….!
I’m still working on the first bin… discovered
A frosted crystal Easter Egg made by Goebbel (Hummels)
Two doggy nail clippers
One old old metal nut cracker…
Another brand new lock still in the package (Hush sherri!)
A short lead strap… which brings me to the vet again….
{ I was working day shift at the PD…I went to bed early.. Sound asleep… Next thing I know, Glen (my oldest son) was waking me up… I open eyes and there sort of, floating in front of me is a largish, for it, painted turtle… Oh mannnnnnnn!
 view link
[Mom… Yes Glen… Mom, I just bought (for 5 bucks) this turtle from the neighbor boy… Yes Glen. Well Mom, look… Glen tickles the turtle… turtle hisses in my face… Mom, can you do anything?… Yes Glen, I can. (Turtle had hook run thru tongue and into the roof of it’s mouth.) Poor little critter, poor Glen, he was almost in tears for the suffering critter. Can you say very little sleep that nite?
[I told him to put turtle in an aquarium…. That I would take turtle to work with me and try to get into vet’s office when I got off duty…Which I did.
[Same vet as with Smoker…I went to work with turtle in a bucket.. (trust me, nobody said a word about the turtle. Can’t imagine why. I thot it was a cute little turtle. Personality plus but with a heavy duty attitude)
[Well, I called vet… vet says bring it on in…Got there at 1430 hours… Vet comes out and personally takes the turtle from me.. Off to surgery they go. I wait…
[After a bit, here comes the vet with my turtle… he, the Vet, not the turtle was beaming with veterinarian pride. I got an almost blow by blow description of the surgery. But the BIG POINT OF PRIDE.. per the Vet, It took 4 of them to hold that saucer sized critter down. OMG! I cracked up…
[God love the Vet tho, there was no charge for the call… I took turtle home… kept it in the second floor bath tub for a few weeks to make sure it was ok and eating. Glen took it out and released it…]
Then there’s the story about the black snake … and one about the lizards and the 15 or so injured box turtles (well ratz! I can’t find the pix of the turtles) in the dining room. This is all true…
Take care all of mine, go in safety always. Remember that sometimes memories are good things.
Hugs, much love and daily laffter… Meems

OK… Now the Viva is giving herself a bath on what used to be my bed!

Well, I’ve done it again… but this time without the red robe.. Oh dear..
Now remember that the new neighbors have moved… I’m up here on the mountain all by my self, right?
I roll out… grab my first cuppa, step out on the porch… A Magnificent day on the mountain. Blue and white skies… gentle breeze… low humids and deliciously cool!
Notice is said ‘roll out’? This is exactly what I did! No robe just a long t shirt and undies. I’m covered, right? Yes, my teeth are in…(I have improved in that area)
Well, I started picking up stuff that the dogs have drug from who knows where. I water and feed the critters.. I water the plants. Move stuff around so it at least looks neater out there. Move a cupboard (wind break) closer to the back door… Now I can put the trash can out there…Well, I move and putter around… sip my coffee.
Decide the chickyducks have gotten enuf water in their pen. Head down the back steps to turn the water off… Look up and there is now a black pick up truck parked in the middle of the field above me!
Ruh row! Truck =driver = human out on foot. Oopsie…I cracked up! Dogs thot I was nutz and they are right! I am! But I came back in the house and put on a pair of
Anyhow, it looks like tick season might just be over. Now, burrs are starting to take over… seeds ripening all over the place…Soon, the burrs will be all over me. My cup runneth over… view link
This pic of the Newbie was taken last year… I’m afraid Viva will look exactly the same this year… Now I’ll have two of them… Sheesh!
Back to my attire! Lolol… I scooted back inside the house and grab a pair of shorts… check the mail … then go back to the porch! Now that I am covered and decent, the truck is gone! I absolutely cannot win.
Didn’t see any contrails while I was out back…but I looked anyway… Didn’t hear anybody up there either… Maybe somebody saw me and gave everybody a ‘heads up’! lololol
Well, I heard from the Marv and the KK… sheesh, those two children are real problems sometimes…
LOLOL did you see KK’s bathroom door knob? Lolol Like I didn’t know what she was talking about… I still think a plain old door stop will work or a piece of wood on the floor would help. (Use Elmers glue, brat…)
Marv said he went to the grocery store… Would you believe he unloaded all his groceries on the ‘closed’ check out… He’s gonna kill me, but he did! I am rolling on the floor first thing.
And then there’s the punny BigThoughts and his several puns for the day… They are real groaners… Even mine aren’t that bad! Gotcha! BT
Well now, since I am taking up permanent residence in the fall out shelter… not leaving a forewarding either… I just might be safe from the fallout! Lolol
I am outa here….Take care all of mine… go in safety always…Remember the whole world is nutz! Enjoy what ever comes along …
Many hugs and much love… the soon to be streaking emom

Maj. Gen. Edward Tonini made the comments after meeting Thursday with the 301st Chemical Company from Morehead and the 299th Chemical Company based in Maysville during a trip to the Green Zone in Baghdad. Tonini will meet the Shelbyville-based 1163rd Medical Company on Friday in southeastern Iraq. Members of the 299th and 301st were previously deployed in Iraq in 2005 and the 1163rd was deployed in Afghanistan in 2003-04. “I am concerned like a lot of people are concerned about wearing these soldiers out, but so far I haven't seen it,†Tonini, of Louisville, said during a conference call with reporters. “We have a lot of people fired up ready to go.†About 180 soldiers are deployed with the 301st and 299th and 82 are deployed with the 1163rd, said David Altom, spokesman for the Kentucky Department of Military Affairs. The 1163rd was most recently deployed in fall 2008 and is scheduled to return in September. The 301st and 299th were deployed in May and are scheduled to return in May 2010. The companies are providing security support for U.S. bases. Tonini had dinner with troops and said they were in high spirits. Altom could not confirm if Tonini would next travel to meet Kentucky units in Afghanistan, citing security concerns. There are 89 soldiers from the Kentucky Air and Army National Guard in Afghanistan as part of an agricultural development team. Since Sept. 11, 2001, about 12,000 members of the Kentucky National Guard have been deployed worldwide, Altom said. Reporter Derek Poore can be reached at (502) 582-4286.
2009/8/21 Kentucky Marine recruit dies at SC base The Associated Press PARRIS ISLAND, S.C. -- A Marine recruit from Kentucky has died after a training exercise at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island. Marine officials said Friday they are investigating the Monday death of 20-year-old Adrien E. Augustin of Kenton, Ky. He collapsed after finishing a physical fitness test and was pronounced dead at a Beaufort hospital. Second Lt. Sharon Hyland says an autopsy has been performed to determine the cause of his death, but the results are not back yet. Rest dear heart… be at peace and go with God…. Meems
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% %%% 2009/8/21 FRANKFORT, Ky. -- An Army major general who has lost two sons - one of them to suicide - says the military needs to do more to reduce the stigma of mental illness. Maj. Gen. Mark Graham and his wife, Carol, were keynote speakers at a suicide prevention conference attended by hundreds Friday at the Frankfort Convention Center. Months before their older son Jeffrey was killed in Iraq, their younger son, Kevin, hanged himself when he was an ROTC cadet at the University of Kentucky. The Grahams have successfully pushed several changes, particularly in the military. They say recruits now are given a card when they enter training, telling them what steps to take if they believe they are depressed. My deepest sympathy goes out to the families of these young men…

I wrote this note to the Lex Herald Leader in response to the above article (suicide). I am going to ask for some help from my good friends on Eons… I’m thinking of a banner for all our military and accepting incoming articles which can be emailed to me.
For the time being, I will confine the articles to a all encompassing banner/header. Lots of work and checking to be done.. Any volunteers can email me at emom101@prtcnet.org or you can call me at 1-606-593-7457

Hey everybody…
LOLOLOL Can I tell you a secret? This is about the Boss Man (GaryJames aka the Garymeister) I gave him fair warning earlier today. So…….
Well, I had an idea for our Armed Forces and approached him for some help. (I’ll tell you about KK in a minute) Well… I asked the Boss if he would/could do a banner for a news update banner for all of mine/ours.
I sort of blackmailed him into doing it… First, I laid a guilt trip that wouldn’t quit.
That was just for starters..
Then I threatened him with a clone/s of me! Can you imagine two or more of me running around in this world? Lololol Shut up Marv!
I tell ya that in next to no time at all, the Boss whomped up a beautiful banner for all of our guys and gals. Be sure to take a look and let him know what a good job he did … on such short notice too.
Thank you, dear heart and one of mine… thank you so very much… That’s it! He’s used up all his share of nice out of me! Be warned Boss!
Now, to KK…. Well, she’s done it again. Locked herself out of the bathroom… notice I said ‘again’. Lolol God love it. Her don’t clean very often (kinda take after meems there). How she managed to do that I don’t know. I’ve locked myself out of my car, my truck, my house, the garage, my basement, my office but never out of the bath room..
And then there’s my flyguys and their big beautiful silver birds (BBSBs). I was out back today for a few minutes. Minding my own business … watering all the critters.
The wind was blowing just right… the clouds were allowing some blue sky to show but I was still in the sun. Well, I heard one of my flyguys up there… I found him… and I started waving and throwing kisses! I got flashed twice before he disappeared behind the house.
I gotta tell ya that I got so tickled… I was so happy to see one of mine AND I got flashed! Ladies, eat your hearts out! I was out there with barely dry hair… my clunky mickey mouse shoes and an old blue plaid robe. Nothing but pure sex on the hoof! I did have my teeth in. (just in case anybody might be interested) I’m crackin’ up here.
I’ve had that old robe for years…sleeves are cut off and frayed… It is sooo big that I can wrap it around me twice but it has pockets and I wear it a lot when I paint… as a cover up. Anyhow, I get back in the house and out of the sun. (BTW, I don’t have the itchies anymore!!!!! ) Come back here to the apartment… I wasn’t in here 15 minutes and the house gets buzzed…Rattled said teeth, my coffee mugs and the chickyduck pen! Lololol I will get even… just what or how I don’t know but I WILL think of sumfin….I love it.
I guess I could, since the new neighbors have gone, run outside starkers and scare the heck out of them! Do them BBSBs still come supplied with barf bags? Should I choose to run around the outside of the house in the starkers, they’s best have a good supply of em… This chubby body in the altogethers conjures up a picture in my mind…. Lolol I can hear and see it now…
Elderly mountain woman arrested by unsuspecting MPs - flashes the military!…Would that be a headline or what?!? (I think Marv is a bad influence on me) lololol
Sorry, I’ve lost my mind again..,lolol
Couple of serious things here… If any one wants a copy of the Armed Forces News, just let me know and I will add your group to the list. Email me at emom101@prtcnet.org If you receive a personal email from me with the AFN and you’d rather not read or know, just give me a short pm and I will remove you from the list.. no hard feelings.
Gots to get busy, this kitchen is condemned! And please, weather gods, send some cooler weather so I can get outside and get some work done… and the back porch needs a good cleaning… lets see here… I think I am developing a never ending list.. Any volunteers? Sheesh… don’t guess there are… lolol Why am I not surprised?!?
Take care all of mine. Go in safety always. Remember life is oh so precious. Live to the full every day. I didn’t work this hard when I worked! lolol
Many hugs and much love… the contented meems
