"Psyche's Dream" by Josephine Wall
Night's Painted Canvas
On the painted canvas of night my dreams like twinkling stars, they dance. I try to catch them in their flight.
And leaving nothing up to chance across the pages of my heart my dreams like twinkling stars, they dance.
At twilight where my dream do start, between the night and end of day across the pages of my heart.
Their muted glow lighting my way as stepping back they're clear to me between the night and end of day.
So clearly I can't help but see, I grasp them in my outstretched hands as stepping back they're clear to me.
And giving in to night's demands on the painted canvas of night, I grasp them in my outstretched hands; I try to catch them in their flight.

 HE REALLY GETS AROUND
He's a traveling man, and he really gets around, traveling hither and thither and all around town. He's awake every morning at the crack of dawn making plans, checking them twice, and the maps and the fares, he's a traveling man and always on the go and tied to his computer, the Net his very best friend besides his travel agent who makes sure he gets there and when. To Paris, to Brussells and then on to Rome; to the far reaches of the Andes and Africa and Nome. There's simply no end to the travels of this man; he'll get there eventually any way he can, for he's the most creative traveler I know -- he's a traveling man.

This week's BFF #90 "Inspiration"
 ***************

AT RAINBOW'S END I dance with the leprechauns and sing along with their tunes, as together we look for rainbows from dawn to setting sun. But whether we find them or not, it's such a lot of fun, dodging the raindrops as they fall one by one. And dancing among them we twirl about so, dizzying, exciting, an enchanting glow; fiddling and dancing the day away, nothing else to do but come out to play.
And when we find what we're looking for, brilliant bands of rainbowed sky arching across the mountains high, rainbows everywhere such a sheer delight, we'll find that pot of gold exactly where it should be, at the end of the rainbow just waiting for me.

TOWARD TRANQUIL
I come to this place trying to shake off a mood that has come knocking, uninvited, unwanted as I hear the tumult of rather unsettling and fragmented thoughts seeking the attention that I so rarely give them.
And at the far edge of a spring afternoon I pick up a pen and the journal that is now my constant companion and I begin to jot down words, closing my eyes as I try to redirect my thoughts to other things, to other places, to other sounds, mountains, sunsets, sunrises, butterflies, rainbows. And the mood begins to fade as I open my eyes to the scene in front of me, the ducks gliding ever so silently across the tranquil canvas of late afternoon stopping to rest before continuing on their way. And within the serenity of this place peace begins to return once again to my heart as the mood that brought me here is already a fading memory of an afternoon as the uninvited callers turn away and leave as for now, within this small corner of my world peace envelops my heart and my soul.

PASTEL BRIGHT
Pastel colors, vivid and bright, sidewalk art, such a delight. Chalk dust flying everywhere, so much fun in the summer sun. The world is my slate, as happy as can be, each line representing how it is to be me.

TIMEKEEPERS ALL
The watchers of clocks, they go 'round and around with the watchers of clocks and the clocks that they watch, as counting each minute and hour as they watch the hands of the clocks, they watch them each one.
The watchers of clocks keep such precise time, as watching the clock is so very prime and the thing that they do and their favorite pasttime as they spin 'round and 'round with the hands of the clock at such dizzying speeds as faster and faster they go, the hands of the clock spinning them around, as watching the clock the watchers of clocks still go 'round and 'round, timekeepers all from dawn to setting sun.

CHALKDUST
Chalkdust flying in the summer sun, back in the days when we were young, freckle-faced and sunburned, not a care in the world, sunshined artists and out of school, drawing to our hearts' content, upon sidewalk canvases and following no rules. We only drew what we felt; we drew what we saw, the shapes and the colors, a rainbowed palette all. And every inch of those sidewalks, we filled them completely up with our drawings, our smiles, our laughter and our fun.
And when we were through with our art for the day, we dusted ourselves off and put our chalk away. And if we were lucky, and the rain didn't fall and wash away all, we came back in the morning to admire what we'd done, and cheer and clap for our artistry and find a new sidewalk canvas that we could adorn with our chalk drawings in the sunshine until another day was done.

Frozen in Time
Moonlight magic frozen in time Midnight sounds on the old church chime. A speck of dust this life of ours Things to ponder under the stars.
And we have always known life thus Quietly sneaking up on us. Divined again in these small hours Things to ponder under the stars.
Every thought these beams they hold as the night begins to grow cold. And we forget our past life's scars Things to ponder under the stars.
Moonlight magic frozen in time Things to ponder under the stars.

TOWARD RECAPTURING THE VIEW
Morning dances across the sky as I awaken to its cadenced melody, each subtle and soothing note caressing my heart and calming my fears. And tossing them aside for this moment or two, these emotions that so often cloud my sight, I can more clearly see, as I catch a small glimpse of how the world used to look to me before all the distractions I stumble over every day somehow got in the way of that world I used to see.
And as I try recapture even more of that view of the world that I saw through the eyes of a child, through eyes that had not yet seen the pain and the tragedy that we grown-ups so often see, I stop for a moment to consider the view, I embrace it all, giving thanks for this day and where I am on this morning, looking forward once again to that clarity of vision that the children have.
