UPON GENTLE BREEZES
by Barbara
A CHERYL'S PALS COLLAB
Peeling pastel petals one by one, memories awakened under the sun each one floating upon gentle breezes, springtime magic tossed in the wind, their sights and scents filling her cup, as drifting among petals of pink and white, she follows her muse and together they wander within serenity's painted hues.

PUZZLED: or Wondering Why
When I look up in the sky and see what I see as puzzled as I can be, I simply have to ask why.
And giving it a try as I'm scratching my head thinking I should have stayed in bed, for there's simply no logic that can apply.
The world seems to have simply gone awry and though I'm hoping that we can get back on track, finding the direction we appear to lack, for now I can only sigh and ask why.

As rhyming challenged as I am, I just had to try one of these . . . .
The "challenge" was to write a poem inspired by one or more ABBA songs or write a piece with ABBA rhyme scheme. So . . . . this one is ABBA ACCA ADDA . . . . A fun one for sure.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend ahead. Thanks for your visits and comments.

Ā
THROUGH THEIR EYES
Wonder and magic, the look in their eyes, innocent amazement, so young yet so wise. The things that they say as they describe them to me, when they say it is so, I know it really is. And from what they say I know it is so becauseĀ they see so many things that I really don't know.
They see critters and castles where I only see clouds; they see butterflies and rainbows when I only notice the rain. And as winter turnsĀ to spring once again, I'll be looking for those things that they see and I miss. I'll be looking for the rainbows that come after the rain; I'll be watching for butterflies and puffy clouds in the sky. I'll be looking at what's around me through the eyes of a child.

WITHIN THE EERIE GLOW . . . .
From out out of the darkness within the glow of night, the dreams that come calling, a strange and eerie sight. Whirling and twirling, vaporizing away, the comings and goings from just who knows where, and as curious about me as about them I am. The world that they bring me, these dreams in the night,Ā so fascinating and exciting and occasionally a fright. Exotic and other-worldly, I consider them well, and how they transport me, I marvel even now as I tell of their story in the middle of the day as under the bright light of the sun I stare into their eyes, so very tempted to run away but I won't as compelled I amĀ to stay here and wonder about these dreamsĀ of the night and the intergallactic and extraterrestrialĀ places we'll go as soon as this day transforms once more into night.

LOOKING FORWARD
It has been said a time or two that watching the clock is what to do. Can't be late for important dates, appointments and such or anything else that's going to be between the arrival of dawn and the setting of the sun.
But as for me, I look around and see the stress and the frazzle, not what I want to be on a day that is already too structured for me as I continue to wonder just where do they go, those minutes and hours that slip by me so? Before I even notice them, they're already gone, adding up so very quickly by the time the day is done. And I know I could lament that because this is so, time getting away from me before I can even blink, that I never get anything done completely finished, you know. But that's okay, I say, I'll never get bored; I'll always have something to do on this day and every day for the time I have left to look forward to tomorrow and give thanks for today.

RETURNING GOLDEN
Springtime golden returning to my days and to my heart, the chill of winter thawing with the sun's warming rays; the leaves beginning to burst, new life once again; bears finally waking up from their long winter's nap.
And as the days grow longer, as I look forward once again to the golden flowers of spring, petals golden and kissed by the sun as spring thaw has begun with sweet showers that fall rainbows arching across the sky; our dreams flying with our kites as we soar with them so high.
And as the warm spring days return, the sweetest breezes blow, the chill of winter fading, the gray of those days transforming into gold.

IN THE AIR . . . .
There must be something in the air for I've sneezed and I've sniffled absolutely everywhere, inside and outside and all around town I've sneezed at every turn and even sniffled upside down. I don't know exactly what it could be; the source of it completely eludes me. But I know it is there, it is true, it is so, there is most definitely something in the air. But I've noticed something very curious, very strange, zany, zany, zany indeed; and what that is is clear to me; that white stuff on the ground that was there just yesterday, has melted and I'm beginning to see little buds forming on the trees and flowers poking up from out of the ground where piles and piles of snow used to be.
So I have a hunch, and I'll bet this time I'm right, I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that something in the air is Spring, for Spring seems to have tiptoed in and sprung overnight; it's Spring that's the something in the air.

AFTER THE RAIN
Dark clouds cling in silence to the mountains of my morning, spring storms menacing, unsettling on this day that has already seen yesterday's blue skies and sunshine dissipate with the dawn as the gray clouds begin to descend upon my view and upon my heart.
And as the rain begins to fall, I'm reminded once more that the gray of this day will lift with these clouds of morning and with them my heart as rainbows follow the sweet showers of spring. And with tomorrow's dawn, as the new day welcomes me, my heart will awaken to the light, refreshed once more as spring's new life revives my spirit the clouds of morning drifting away with the rising of the sun on a new day.

TOWARD SPRINGTIME
Flowing one into another, their gentle ebb and flow, the seasons carry me with them, golden under a summer sun, leaves of autumn, amaranthine translucence, brilliant red and golden, as dancing their final waltz of the season, they captivate my senses, drawing me close as we look forward to spring and renewal, to dance once again in Spring's cleansing showers as the journey through the seasons, one by one has become for me its own sweet reward, finding hope beneath the rainbows arching across an April springtime sky.
