FLIGHTS OF FANCY

Fanciful flights,

imagination on the edge

of today's adventures

and the magic of night;

angels' wings and stardust

guiding my way 

as I see with new eyes, 

a renewed vision,

an epiphany to me.

And standing right here

on the edge of the day,

about to step forward

into a rather vast unknown,

one step at a time

as caution still prevails,

but looking to the future

and more fanciful flights

with a vision that hasn't yet

wearied of life but

determined to rise above

this world's troubles and pain,

as I continue to knock softly

upon fancy's illuminated door.

LOVE'S MAGICAL DANCE

Butterflies waltzing
among flowers of gold,
their afternoon dance
hypnotic and free,
speaking to me
in ways that I know;
entranced by their dance,
enraptured there
as love takes flight,
transformed in beauty
in freedom's light,
untethered and free
to grow and mature
and become all
it's meant to be
always evolving,
never quite the same,
the beauty of love
soaring into the light,
iridescent wings
of magical flight,
love's gifts shared
as I open my heart
beyond the self
that I see,
to explore new galaxies
renewed under the sun,
embracing the love
as it's shared with me.

Working together,
that's what it takes
to get the job done,
to get it done right.
No "I's" allowed,
on this team, you see;
if it's going to get done,
it's up to me,

in short,
I'd say,
if it's going to get done,

as we work together,
equal partners are we,
if it's going to get done,
it's not just up to me,

And
honey and water
mixed together in a glass,
provides what we need,
a jolt of energy
better than

as the bees are so wise
and they've known all along,

MOUNTAIN MORNING PEACEFUL

As the sun begins to rise up

from behind the ridge to the east,

I come to this place once again,

inhaling its silence and its peace,

the breezes of morning

speaking so softly that

I'm sure that I am the only one

who hears their silent voices.

A lone hawk soars across the canyon

lifting my spirits and my heart

into the morning sunlight.

And in its majestic flight,

as it soars from here to there,

from this moment

and into the day,

a renewed sense of wonder

infuses my thoughts,

and peace once again

settles within my heart.

BEYOND DARKNESS AND PAIN

Enshrouded in darkness,

clouds looming overhead,

an island,

alone,

unquiet solitude of night,

until finally emerging

and into the light,

reflections,

treasured memories

of what came before,

life as once known

never returning again,

but remembered 

and renewed 

and rising once more

in spite of the darkness

and overcoming the pain,

rising once more 

to live once again

in the memories

and hearts

of loved ones 

and friends.

Tiny Sweet Hearts
and Valentine kisses,
Cupid's at work
and he never misses.
There's love in the air,
precious words among lovers
flowing straight from the heart;
elegant roses and fragrances
reminders of love shared;
those sweetest moments
captured in music's tender strains,
and played upon heartstrings,
melodies of love and romance;
memories tucked away,
handled with special care
and resting safely within.

IN ELOQUENT SILENCE

In the midst of the chaos
and the din of the day,
it is the silence that speaks
most clearly to me,
the eloquent sounds
that silence makes;
when I listen carefully,
I can hear them well.
The solitude of the forest
as dawn begins to break
and the only thing moving
the last leaf from the tree,
the only sound I hear,
my very next step.

It is the silence
that speaks to me
in ways that I notice,
in ways that I hear.
The wings of a butterfly
as it floats through the air,
its waltz of the morning
amid petals of golden;
the dew as it glistens
on blades of grass;
the hawk as it paints
silent patterns across
a noontime blue sky.
These are the sounds
that speak so loudly to me
when I most need to hear them
and listen with my heart.
