LOVE TRANSCENDING -- LWHP II "Sunny Sunday/Love"
Posted On 02/06/2011 04:31:56

LOVE TRANSCENDING

The many forms

that love does take,

in friendships' gardens

mind to mind;

in lovers' walks

through lives entwined;

in treasured words

flowing through our pens;

elegant letters,

an art thought lost

to those we love

and back again

and overtaking

the darkness of the night

enveloping my heart,

cradling my soul,

the power of love

transcending it all.

OF MIDNIGHT DARKNESS
Posted On 02/06/2011 02:47:17

"The Raven" by Laila Carlsen

OF MIDNIGHT DARKNESS

Raven of the midnight hour
overseer of darkness,
purveyor of gloom,
piercing my thoughts
and intruding on my soul;
piercing through
the darkness,
seeing through
to my soul,
into my thoughts,
my being,
he sees it all.

Through the darkness
he sees as I hear him call,
the raven speaks,
he knows it all,
my thoughts,
my being
through the black
of the night.
The raven speaks,
he knows it all
as piercing
through the haze
enshrouding my mind,
through the layers
hindering my clarity.

Raven of the midnight hour,
of magic spells
and tales to tell,
secrets of the dark
and the gloom,
enshrouding my thoughts,
no comfort in sight,
the nightmares of midnight
washing over me,
the raven of midnight
overtaking my heart.

BEYOND THE SHADOWS -- CPC Collab
Posted On 02/05/2011 02:39:15

BEYOND THE SHADOWS

By Barbara

A Cheryl's Pals Collab

On butterfly wings
and midnight stars,
my thoughts escape me
into the night,
beyond the shadows
sometimes lingering there
and wear the face
of a vacant stare.

And rising above
that darkened place
of echoing whispers,
shadowed corners
buried deep and
imprisoned inside,
I find that light
that shines so bright
through the whispering
winds that come from the sea.

And in my dreams
I am lifted up,
no fear,
no distractions
as I tilt my head back,
the sweet cleansing rains
washing over me
able to face the dark
without fear,
my thoughts
no longer hidden
for they have been
once more set free,
daydreams becoming
my reality.

INTO THE NIGHT -- A Safari Tanka -- CPC

INTO THE NIGHT

Expansive silence,

day melding into the night

I join in their march,

becoming as one with them,

elephants crossing the African plain.

BRUSH STROKES

In stark silence,

they rise above

their reflections,

monolithic

and powerful

in what is left unsaid,

in what they cannot say

out loud but which

is understood

by the birds who nest there,

by the artists whose

brushstokes bring

them to new life

upon once-blank canvas,

and by those who,

from the shore,

stand in awe of them,

amazed by what

they see and by

what they have.

TOWARD A NEW DAY (in photo and words)
Posted On 02/03/2011 02:59:36

"I'll think of it all tomorrow, at Tara.
I can stand it then.
Tomorrow, I'll think of some way to get him back.
After all, tomorrow is another day."

~Scarlett -- the last lines of Gone With the Wind

~~~~~~~~~~~
TOWARD A NEW DAY
And I look beyond
the edge of this day,
embracing what was
and what has been,
looking forward to
what will be in
the days ahead,
the fruit of dreams
and unfinished plans.
Beyond the horizon,
it's all right there,
within reach, I know,
attainable there,
as I move beyond
my yesterdays
looking ahead
with gratitude
and open arms
toward tomorrow's
gift of the sunrise,
the challenges,
all that we share
as the sun sets
on this day
to return again
once more.
FLYING SO HIGH (in words and photo)
Posted On 02/02/2011 03:08:03
FLYING SO HIGH
Flying up so high
at the end of a string
my dreams of day
as my young heart sings
as it carries them up
where the clouds
float above all
the worries and cares
down here below.
And catching sweet breezes
I soar with my kite
and dream the biggest dreams
that I know will come true
as I send my wishes
on their way
with my kite flying so high
on the end of my string.
SINGING A NEW SONG -- (in photos and words) -- LWHP II "Sonnet's Saturday S...
Posted On 02/01/2011 06:04:23
SINGING A NEW SONG
Symphonic praises of morning
at dawn's very first light;
rhapsodic melodies,
day flowing into night,
within their notes,
their emotions, their song,
and the inspiration they bring
to my days and my nights
as I soar with them,
occasionally spreading my wings
and exposing my soul.
My voice,
once so silent,
sings praises once again,
as within the music
I dance and jump for joy,
singing praises at dawn
and thanksgiving at day's end,
each day renewed
and taking steps again,
into the dawn
and into the day
as within each new step
I sing a brand new song.
IN THE CADENCE OF THE MOMENT
Subtle melodies
dancing across the keys,
the highs, the lows,
the in-betweens,
stealing my heart
and transporting my soul,
to places never seen
or have hidden behind
my memory's door.
Working together,
they lift me up,
these notes and melodies,
as they carry me
to feelings I had lost
to space and over time;
captivating my emotions
if only for now,
feelings buried under
layers of life,
quite out of touch
until discovered again
as the life becoming
so very vivid and real
to me once more.
And as I told myself
again and again,
"You're opening
reality's door,
and entering L-I-F-E,
once more,"
and seeing it
through new eyes
as a renewed beholder
opens that door.
In the cadence, the notes
of the symphony's score,
evoking those memories
of who I was before
life intervened,
as I recall that it was
when it first played for me,
as finally hearing it again
and listen through the filter
of experience and time,
in the melodies,
the variations,
added over time
to the music I had
heard before.
And I continue on my journey,
gladly taking that next step
in sync with the rhythms of life,
as I've found myself once again.
