BFF #84 -- IN THE AIR -- Blogging For Fun/"Love is . . . ."
Posted On 01/31/2011 03:18:42

IN THE AIR

Love is in the air,

I know it is so,

I feel it and see it

everywhere.

I see it in friends

who really do care

about each other

in so many ways;

I see it in couples

who walk hand in hand

as the sun begins to set

as they stroll through the park;

I see it as Grandpa reads

his grandson's favorite book

and the hug he gives his grandma

as he goes on about his day.

Love is all around me

and I can only smile

and happy that

love is well and good

and not about to go away.

Loving my family

and my friends

and how very special

they are to me.

SUPER-SLEUTHED -- CPC Magic Monday/"To Catch a Thief"
Posted On 01/31/2011 06:53:46

SUPER-SLEUTHED

Can't you hear it?
The rustling leaves,
the sounds of night
under full moon bright?
The rustling leaves,
the scratching sounds;
I hear them clearly
if I listen well.

And so investigate,
I must;
I'm not afraid,
I'll find out,
I trust,
what's making that noise
I hear outside,
the rustling leaves,
the sounds of night.

So I grab the flashlight
and tip-toe outside,
looking all around
in the dark of night.
But the noise has stopped,
it's quiet out there,
nothing moving at all,
nothing in sight . . . .
until a distinct odor
finds its way to my nose
in the darkness of night.

And shining my flashlight
in its direction,
I finally see
what there is to see,
a tail of black
and a stripe of white,
there's just no mistaking
what it can be
as it scurries away
as fast as it can
and I do the same,
back into the house again.

But I did find the source
of the rustling leaves
in the dark of the night
super-sleuth that I am.

FRIENDSHIP'S GARDEN -- Legacy Writers "Sunny Sunday"
Posted On 01/30/2011 09:04:23

FRIENDSHIP'S GARDEN

My friendship garden

of pure delight,

I visit it often

both day and night,

colorful petals

under the sun,

iridescent and glowing

within moonbeams bright.

Treasures all

I find there each day,

their thoughts,

their smiles,

the words they say

in the language of friendship,

words I hear and understand,

precious blooms

who come to share

their sorrow,

their joy,

their hearts with me,

friends one and all,

we meet right there,

radiant and blossoming

under the sun.

And as we meet in the garden,

my friends and I,

we share with each other

a word or a song,

a pat on the back,

a smile,

a few tears,

all precious treasures,

each and every one.

KALEIDOSCOPIC WONDER
Posted On 01/30/2011 02:53:04

KALEIDOSCOPIC WONDER

Delicately
delightful
discs,
rainbowed,
translucent,
transitory,
floating freely,
drifting and bobbing
in
slow
motion,
pulsating powerful,
kaleidoscopic
and
momentary
as closing my eyes,
I become one with
their rainbowed energy,
glistening,
glimmering,
glowing
in paradise wonder,
my soul rejoicing
once more
in their magnificently
rainbowed
silent rhythm
and song.

CAPTIVATED -- a free-verse Pantoum -- "Sonnet's Saturday Sound"
Posted On 01/30/2011 01:51:18

CAPTIVATED

Within the realm of darkness and night

where solitude reigns, silence enveloping my soul

and dreams beginning to overtake my thoughts,

the day once more bidding farewell to us all.

Where solitude reigns, silence enveloping my soul

within this darkness the words find me

the day once more bidding farewell to us all,

whispering my name before I can speak.

Within this darkness the words find me

as I find my way by moonbeams' glow,

whispering my name before I can speak,

my imagination's flight to morning's first light.

As I find my way by moonbeams' glow,

and dreams beginning to overtake my thoughts,

my imagination's flight to morning's first light

within the realm of darkness and night.

EACH DAY AMAZED (in words and photos)
Posted On 01/29/2011 09:51:00

EACH DAY AMAZED

The most amazing things

come into view

within the steps

that I take each day.

5000 steps,

just over a mile

but each and every time

a new surprise.

Around the blocks

and back home again,

never disappointed

by what I get a chance to see

as I step out the door

with my cam and my tunes,

looking for adventure

each and every day

even if it's so very

close to home.

TOWARD TOMORROW

Under a late-afternoon
winter sun my spirit
rises with them
as they begin
their graceful flight
toward tomorrow.

REFLECTIONS RECALLED (A Cheryl's Pals Collab)

A photo of one of my favorite places to visit, especially in the Spring . . . . when it is poppy-orange as far as the eye can see.

REFLECTIONS RECALLED

BY BARBARA

A CHERYL'S PALS COLLAB

Watching the night
turning into day,
yesterday's dreams
sweet memories made,
of verdant meadows
where wildflowers bloomed
and lovers played,
reflections almost lost
in the pages of time;
held close so they
don't merely slip away;
melodies recalled,
so close to my heart,
simple tunes,
reflections of yesterday
as I see them
more clearly now
than I ever did before;
lifted up from the haze
of yesterday's past
into the dawning
light of today.

PATIENCE -- Poets Roundtable No. 205 (in words and photo)
Posted On 01/28/2011 04:43:36

~ Patience ~

Poets’ Round Table No. 205

~

With whispered touch, he cautions me:

“there is so much you cannot see

I am your friend if you learn to wait

Neither instill nor defend uncertainty’s gait.”

~

So I must wait, I wonder when;

it’s not too late, I tell myself again

as today will fade, but where do they go?

Tomorrow’s plans made, the hours passing so.

~

Hours and minutes pass, yet the time stands still

I ask myself – will I last? Do you wait for me, just beyond that hill?

So here I sit and think, as the clouds announce the impending storm

Into despair I’ll try not to sink as I await your coming like the morn.

~

Forgotten and forlorn; in these depths of shadows I must wait,

Patience I have sworn, endless suffering is my fate.

Then sudden insight; it dawns in front of me,

He sets things right, because in the darkness, I could not see.
