2009-11-4 1510 hours. Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home…
Much to my enemies displeasure, I think I am gonna live! I think I’ve had the flu or sumfin equally interesting. LOLOL At my age, I can’t tell a whole lot of difference…flat on my back is not all it’s cracked up to be.
Emails… All kinds of problems with my emails. Windows Live decided to take over this puter and all my emails. If you’ve sent any messages and rec’d no response, please resend them. I only have Incredimail now and I have lost some of my emails that were listed in WLive. Will it never cease?
Somewhere in the last few days, I rec’d a request by a lady to locate a veteran for her friend. The Friend and the Vet had almost married back during the Nam War; had finally lost touch with each other. Just letting the lady know I was unable to locate any info… The last name of the Vet is Jones…….
A note to Therman….Thank you for the sweet and kind hearted comments but I absolutely refuse to open a bed & board for aliens. Even if you do buy my mountain and build the structures, I would still need to get off my lazy buns and do some work! Thanx anyway!
HEADS UP! Does any one know where/how to get the MIA?POW bracelets? I talked to a friend at Ft. Campbell. She puts up with me… God love her and her halo! Anyway she suggested the Military museum gift shop. No luck there either. Gift shop advised me to Google for the info…This I have not done yet.
Two days ago, I rec’d a message from Suzy (of blue wire fame) asking me to contact all of mine. Today, I am mentioning it here in the news. I have all kinds of ideas but I don’t know “how to.â€Â
The ‘Skins’ section needs some military backgrounds from each of our branches of service for the upcoming Veterans Day. Suzy honey if you are reading this, How bout the stars and bars that were hung in the front windows of service members homes during the second world war.
Anyway, if you have any posters, ideas on finding something representing all our different services, send them to Suzy at Eons or contact me and I will try to forward.
Another HEADS UP…I have started a new group for the friends, families, Veterans themselves and any active member of the military services…Army…Navy…Coast Guard… Marines… The group is called ARMED FORCES NEWS & UPDATES.
It is under construction and not quite finished yet but it is at least up and running.
I wanted to call it ADOPT A BASE or something similar… but it would be easier to find with the ARMED FORCES heading. Please, adopt a base or a branch of the military. Be one of our roving reporters and post all the news that you can. The News goes all over the world now… There are so many of ours who would appreciate the latest from their home bases. view link Or you can go to my profile page and click on the link to groups there…
NOTE… some things may/might be removed from this posting site (or edited) if the items might be considered a security risk for ours.
Later. Need to go rest…. Take care and go in safety always…Remember to love one another… We are all we have.
Many hugs, much love and lots of laffter… meems, the addled
2009-10-28 Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home. I am being bad here… lolol It has been called to my attention that I have not completed my profile info… especially this one. The more I thot about it, the funnier it became…
2009-10-26 0830 hours WELCOME HOME, DEAR HEARTS, WELCOME HOME
Get your buns in here and warm up! Sheesh, it is COLD out there! All of 30 degrees and yes, the furnace is on. The sun is coming up over the mountain and maybe it’ll be another pretty day. Most of the critters are outside right now except the Newbie.
Goofy dog is in a dancy dancy mood this morning. We’ve already had two sing-songs. Have no idea what this means but I’ve never had any critters do this before.
Of course, there was Smokey, the shepherd, the canary, the parrot and a guitar. Lolol!
I must tell you that many moons ago, I played the guitar and sang. I never did learn to sight read music but I could figure out the chords. I spent many an hour practicing when I was home alone.
Well, I liked the songs Greensleeves, a Taste Of Honey, Come Wander With Me Love (also a Twilight Zone production) and Black Is The Color Of My True Love’s Hair. Old old English and Celtic folk songs are still some of my favorites.
Pedro, the parrot, learned to sing the phrase: A Taste Of Honey…. The canary would always sing the harmony… Smokey howled and sang to everything! Lolol Ralph, the Siamese, left home! Lolol He didn’t want any part of this singing business!
Back then, I had to make a choice… paint or play. Both took a great deal of my time and there were dance classes, the ballet.
I decided that painting was the most important to me and kept the other two as hobbies. Then I developed carpel tunnel syndrome long before it became the medical problem of the year. My voice went… never work a high stress job where you use your voice. Singing and high stress are not compatible! Trust me, they are not. So now, I whistle the songs when I am outside playing in the dirt. Works for me anyway and I have no neighbors to complain! Lolol
I also had a sorrel quarter- horse/ thoroughbred mix. I could call “Hi Seets†and here he would come. At his own pace, mind you but in from the fields he would come. Lolol A fellow rider wanted to know how I managed to get Seets to come in on his own. Fellow Rider had to go to the fields to get his horse, Shadow.
Sometimes, Fellow Rider, would lose his temper and throw things (like rocks) at his horse. Shadow would run away. Fellow Rider would get angrier and cuss and throw more rocks…
Now, I knew Shadow wasn’t stupid… neither was Seets.
I’d call Seets in… give him a good brushing (oh, he liked his belly brushed! A lot!) and have a small amount of sweet feed for him. Never had a bit of trouble and Seets would follow me like a puppy.
Fellow Rider said he’d be damned if he would bribe Shadow. The horse would come to him without all the goodies. Shadow never did. Some people, it seems, cannot or will not learn.
Saw some wild turkeys in the field above the house yesterday… Gorgeous day! Saw sundogs and sun columns… My flyguys were up there… Sometimes I could see contrails and sometimes I could only hear them…
I finally remembered to get the camera to take some pix of the sundogs.
I went back and checked for the names of the imported pests that LJ gave me. The unlady-like beetles are Japanese Bean Beetles; they are supposed to eat aphids. It is the African Gnat that dines of weevils. Now see, you learned sumfin new today so it’s not a total loss! Lolol Be advised that both these critters will chomp on the human if given half a chance.
And here is a pic of the Newbie giving directions to Scotty as he bush hogged! The sun was down by this time. The pic is a little dark but you’ll get the idea… lolol
Guess that’s it for now… Take care all of mine… go in safety always. Remember to be kind to one another… If horses can learn, so can the human!
Many hugs, much love and lots of lafter… meems

2009-10-25 1446 hours WELCOME HOME, DEAR HEARTS, WELCOME HOME. Sheesh, talk about you basic do nothing day. Lolol I’ve been reading some of bigthoughts’ parodies and puns… and then I am also watching live video stream from Nkorho Bush Lodge… Two deer like critters have just come to the water hole for their nite time drink. http://www.eons.com/groups/topic/1880576-Live-video-stream-from-Nkorh... If you go to the Blooming Boomers group… you will find the live video stream there. It’s kind of neat to watch the critters… Last nite, I saw a hippo, an elephant’s rump and the business end of a rhino. The artist in me is fascinated by the postures and body positions in the wild. The Boss must watch it a bit also… He made the remark tho that all he saw was the pond and a candy bar! LOLOL (they do run short commercials) And then I got this comment from the rotten Little Jake… “I never had an Aphid or weevil bother me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!†This was in reference to the bit about the ‘unladylike’ imported beetles who were supposed to control our aphids and/or weevils. I must agree with the LJ…them lil critters never bothered me either… LJ gave me the name of another imported critter…the one that is supposed to remove the weevils but I have forgotten it already… Would you believe I am having trouble with my fonts right now? Lolol good grief! I guess there’s a first time for everything but I am having a terrible time trying to hang on to my train of thot! Bite your tongue, Marv! Then, there are some things that never change…KK nailed me on a couple of typos… Marv has been grumping again…Sheesh… I love every minute of it. I now have spots showing up on this page… Oh dear! Don’t know if they will transfer or not… kind of looks like morse code… (dih dih dah dih dah dah ) What can I say? The aliens are after me… lolol and my puter seems to be having a nervous breakdown… lolol I quit! Later… take care all of mine… go in safety always.. Remember to take care of the wildlife where you can. They is important to our world. Many hugs, much love and lots of lafter… meems
EMOM'S MOUNTAIN NEWS posted about 6 hours ago 2009-10-24 1500 hrs…WELCOME HOME, DEAR HEARTS, WELCOME HOME!
Come on in and make yourselves to home… coffee is hot…
Ah yes, living in the mountains is a wondrous things most of the time… or not! Tick season appears to be over… We’ve had two hard freezes and the lil chiggers are asleep for the winter. Now we have the imported “lady†bug season!
Trust me, they are not the real lady bugs nor are they ladies! They, the bugs, show up the last week of October usually…They were a little early this year. Swarms of them out back. The only good thing I’ve seen with them lil critters is I am not allergic to them.
They DO bite/pinch… they smell really bad, they leave a yellow smelly stain where ever they land…and they are heading north… rapidly. They have no natural enemies that I know of… Chickens, lizards and even turn their noses at them… I’m not sure about the spiders…
And yes, I let the spiders alone… they serve the purpose in nature…keep other multilegged critters under control. Well, I must admit I check to see what variety I have in here… Black Widows go out the door to be released.
Anyway, back to the imports… they get under your clothes.. in your hair, your ears, your shoes if you get out in the sunny side of the house… Sheesh!
The other morning, I was out on the back porch, leaning on the rail. Just lookin’ at the colors in the trees… Changing mostly to golds now…Beautiful and peaceful and oh so quiet. A wasp landed on my thumb.
Wowser… this was wonderful! Took a bath while sitting on my thumb and seemed to take particular care of her antennae. She didn’t seem to mind that I watched and talked to her… seemed to enjoy the companionship. She finally got finished and flew away.. a most amazing experience.
I’ve been able to get outside a few times this week… Running between the raindrops and the low flying clouds… Saw some of my flyguys too.. Them BBSBs went over and I got flashed a lot! Them cute lil fellers need to do a better job of focusing their equipment. Or maybe not! I waved and threw kisses and hugs… Did my ‘flash’ dance for them! Lolol and still they fly over the house… gotcha kids! Gots the giggles now…
I gotta tell you that I finally got some iffy measurements on the Newbie! Sort of! Well, almost! Lolol I found my old soft sewing tape measure and decided to check him out! The Newbie had no idea as to what was going on. We ended up waltzing around the kitchen, the hall way and into the apartment! His attitude? What the heck is she doing?!?
So here we go… from nose to base of skull – 17’’ from nose to tip of tail – 76’’…chest – 42’’…height at shoulder – 30’’. Like I said, I’ve ridden ponies smaller than that! Lololol I swear to you, the boy is still growing!

I finished the apple painting and have titled it “ Transition of the Autumn Appleâ€Â…
Have been looking for some star stencils. Finally made them myself… did that last nite… got all the stars of various sizes cut out… Used an exacto knife…and a metal ruler… it works!
I used card stock weight paper… printed the assorted sized stars… then used acrylic water based varnish to coat both sides of the paper. Dried them and then cut the stars…
I’ll use the stencils on the Lady II as part of the background shadow… I think…
Talked to Butch’s wife, Dorothy, today… Asked her what she was up to… would you believe :’’holding the couch down’’ lolol We’ve agreed that in this kind of weather ‘couch potatoing’ is the only way to go!
Before I forget, I’m starting to cut down on my group memberships. I hate to say this, but I think the years are starting to catch up with me… Not enuf time in the day to get all the things done I need/want to do. No old person remarks, Marv…
Later all of mine… take care and go in safety always. Remember to take a nap daily… it recharges the motor… lolol
Many hugs, much love and lots of lafter… meems

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home!
Come on back here to the apartment… Flop on the bed if you want and grab a cover… coffee is hot in the kitchen and it is toasty warm back here… guess all the electricals running keeps it warmer. And trust me, it is cold out there this morning.
Was 38 degrees when I got up and the frost was thick and heavy. It WAS bright and sunny but now the clouds have covered most of the sky. The wind is blowing and the trees are dancing… all dressed in their fancy ball finery. The far mountain is a quilt of all the fall colors. Just a peek out the east window carries me into a fairy land of ambers and golds and rubies and garnets and even a few amethysts. The shadows are the deepest blues and purples I have ever seen.
http://www.eons.com/groups/topic/1875716-Wildlife-Watch?page=6
Go to the above link and just watch for a while… The Boss Man has set up a live feed from somewhere in Southwestern Pa. Live feed is sort of a pun too… I have been watching this since late last evening. Go check it out. It is a feeding station for the wild critters. I have seen raccoons…doves…squirrels…Blue Jays…a robin… chipmunks…a little thing that looks like a mouse…and members of the chubby cheeks brigade, ground hogs! You can hear the birds and their calls. I’ve even heard some of my flyguys go over. Peaceful and relaxing but still sometimes funny. Lolol I crack up at the antics of the chipmunks and the squirrels…and I just heard somebody sneeze…lololol
If the link doesn’t come through, go to Blooming Boomer and scroll down…I think I will be on the front page for quite a while.

I am out of bread! OH NO! and I think I will get a very fattening pizza while I am at the two pumper. Lolol
Take care all of mine. Go in safety always. Remember to appreciate the roof over your head. You could get might hot or cold without it.
Many hugs, much love and loads of lafter to all…. The nature loving meems
2009-10-17 1256 hours Welcome home dear hearts, welcome home. Get in here and warm your buns… Got a little chilly last nite didn’t it? I have a whole 38 degrees out there…And yes, I have finally and begrudgingly turned the heat on. Log heater in the kitchen doesn’t take care of the apartment. Keeping my fingers crossed here but the server has improved a lot… only twice now since Earl was here has the puter done sumfin odd. I get a pop up which tells me that an error has occurred at the IPS. It lasts less than a minute but at least I know the problem isn’t mine. I’ve told a few of you about my hand confusions but this is too funny… My left hand is now trying to learn to do just the opposite of what my right hand may or may not be doing. Lolol My left index finger is now doing what my right middle finger usually does. My right index finger is now partners with my left middle. If you think this sounds confusing, lolol, then ya ought to try it one time… Switch your mouse to your left and see how much fun this really isn’t! You all know I have very little to no logic in this old body. Just imagine….lolol Well, it’s the middle of the month. Mr a has apparently gotten a check from daddy. Mr a has been running up and down the road again… all day yesterday. Then, there was last nite. It’s been a while, but I definitely had a prowler around the house. Dogs were having a hissy fit out front. I grabbed the .22 and went out the back door to fire one round and bellow. I whistled the dogs in and came back in myself. Dogs pacing and growling for a good 30 mins before they settled down. I called Richmond and made another report… documenting. Dispatch wanted to send unit…and I said no. The troopers have better things to do than run around an area they can’t check after dark anyway. The territory is dangerous enuf during the daylite hours as it is. Anyway, firing the one round sent the message. I went to bed and slept the sleep of the innocent. (Believe that and do I have a bridge to sell you.) Well, that’s about it for the day… I’m still in the middle of a painting spree…can’t wait to find out if the apple/pumpkin painting is going to have the apple or the pumpkin or a surrealistic combination… lolol Take care all of mine. Go in safety always. Remember to do sumfin constructive today. Many hugs, much love and lots of lafter to you and yours… meems
2009-10-14 1445 hours… Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home! Come on in! Pull up a chair and get warm by the log heater. Coffee’s fresh and hot… No, the coffee pot did not blow up today but I did manage to pour a cup or so of water while I was trying to fill the well in the maker. LOLOL What is it with this coffee maker? I’ve never abused a coffee maker in my life and just look how it treats me! This is good sleepy weather…48 degrees out there and a light steady rain is a falling. I didn’t roll out until 1330 or thereabouts. I was covered with dogs… I would probably still be in bed, under the covers, toasty warm except Lily decided it was “potty†time… Lily will start whimpering…just short little high pitched whines. I hear them just a well as the loud barks… I peek over the covers and she is perched on the high spot of the bed. We make eye contact and here she comes… galloping up the side of my bruised and battered body! She keeps eye contact the whole time. She pins my left arm…flops on my upper arm and shoulder. Kisses me on the nose… How can any one resist that?!? Oh, there’s been a lot of discussion about me feeding the crows. The crows like me and I use them as an early warning system… The crow family let me know if there is a human out and about. And they let me know where the human is. Oh yeah. Well, the other day, the crows were fussing out back… I went to look. Oh dear… Crows were unhappy because Viva was right on top of their food place/restaurant. Well, I laffed til I cried… They will need to work this problem out on their own… I ain’t a getting in the middle of this one… lololol Yesterday morning… I was on the back porch… leaning on the rail. Taking in the fall color changes. or http://www.eons.com/photos/photo/626977-FRYE-HOLLER Magnificent, almost musical, variations on a theme. Meems is going send this by a diff route today .. I don’t know why some have rec’d the pix I sent and that others did not. Sheesh… Gonna go to a different email service today… Will some one let me know if they came thru? Please? I worked all day yesterday, on paintings, varnishing, framing, making templates. Changed the litter box… (once a year never hurt anybody…I’m KIDDING) trundled up and down the steps to the basement…Got the saber-saw out and cut some 9x9†panels.. primed those… By late last nite I had painted my hair with the poly varnish, gotten primer all over my hands and forearms and I am liberally covered with Sepia oil paints… I think there is a little Prussian blue mixed in and about. Notice, the only practical thing I got done was the litter box… that’s why I mentioned it! The Apple painting is coming along… However, the apple itself is slowly but surely evolving into a pumpkin! Told ya all… that happens to me all the time…Be sure to check out the latest work on this painting because I found a gift attached… This morning, I discovered a most insightful poem posted in the comment field by the MalteseColleen. The poem, called Autumn Stew is written by Karen Micallef Tylutki. The poem is under copyright so I cannot post it here. Go to my profile page and click on the lastest update of Apple in my pix. I believe that the colleen and Ms Tylutki are the same person… If not, someone will be sure to enlighten me… Any way, here is the latest updated version of the untitled (so far) of the apple… or http://www.eons.com/photos/photo/628077-APPLE-IV I have a note here… one of the little pink stickum thingies… I have written Food- PX on it. I have no idea what it means… done it again…LOLOl Need to do a ‘Hey, up there’ for my BBSBs. Cooler weather and I have been outside more. I’ve seen bunches of them and I hear more… Lots of clouds up there…can’t see them at all when the clouds are so low but I can hear them…I do the palms out gesture (I can hear you but can’t see you) wave and throw kisses anyway…They can see me… lolol The other day, I was sitting on the tailgate of the truck, waving at one I could see. Mr a went past and bellowed… he didn’t stop tho… The other nite, a guy on a bicycle came riding by… No lites on the bike and the 6 pack + didn’t like him at all. It wasn’t Mr a… don’t know who it was but this ain’t the area to go bike riding on the roadway after dark. But what do I know! That’s it for now… I am off to do more painting work …. Maybe! Lolol Take care..go in safety always. Remember, according to some, the brane is the first thing to go! Lololol Gotcha all! Many hugs, much love and loads of lafter to you and yours…. meems

resized to 2x2" 2009/7/19... 2009-10-12 -1400 hours Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home! Get your buns in -ere and have some coffee or hot chocolate or hot tea or or or… lololol
I’m a telling my left ear is gonna fall off from the weight of the calluses developing from excessive phone use…
I’ve talked to the Better Business Bureau, the KY Attorney General’s office (sending a form)… Richmond State Police for the report number. FBI closed today… the same with the Post Office.
I did glean the info that Dish has received 12 complaints on this subsidiary.
Tuesday, 2009-10-13 0549 hours… %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
Sheesh, come on in and make selves ta home… I am killed, but I am up…Haven’t gotten much of anything done in one way… but lots in another…
Got the itchies again…taking benadryl.. staggering around and hanging on to the walls. I think I need to put up hand rails and sky hooks… sumfin to hang on to, don’tcha know? I need allllllll the help I can get.
I’ve worked on the painting of the apple… It’s coming along… I’ve done laundry.. Hush guys… I’m allowed to force myself into being Suzy Homemaker once in a while…(Ain’t often, mind you.. but sometimes I manage...)
My ink came in…
Grasscutter was here most of the day… getting stuff straightened and cleaned up for winter.
The Critter food arrived…
I NEED A REVOLVING DOOR!
I took some pix the other day showing some of the colors of the surrounding hills… [FRYE HOLLER] or view link
Colors really get to me… I forget everything and mentally start mixing the paints…swinging the paintbrushes… Move that bush to the left a little … what colors for the sky? Warm blues or cool… or a combination…
The really strange thing is sometimes the conscious brane is thinking one thing; what falls off the paintbrush is something else entirely. The subconscious really does the work or not. I am rambling here.
That’s another thing… I am NOT a writer… But the News started falling off my finger tips two years ago and now, I am doing it almost daily. Can’t seem to stop… Blame GaryJames, KK, Little Jake and the Marvin! It’s all their fault… lolol
Speaking of the Garymeister, him was picking on me… The Blooming Boomers group name often comes off as the Booming Bloomers… The Boss says that Boomers is the correct name unless you are talking about me, yours truly. Then the bloomers apply! I think that was an old person remark and I certainly might have worn them at one time.
Did any of you gals wear the old fashioned, short legged, drop seat union suits in the winter time? OMG! I HATED those things… There was no way you could keep those things from showing when you sat at your desk in school. Or on the bus when going to and from school during the fourth grade winter.
I swear to you that winters in southern Ohio and northern KY were colder and more miserable than those in Spokane WA.
[warm house 2] or view link
This pic was taken in Sept. of 2008. Can you say BRRRRRRR? The little building is called a ‘warm house’. It’s cool in the summer time and warm in the winter. You keep your taters, onions, and all your veggies in there year round. A good warm house will stay between 50 and 60 degrees all year round… You can also have your well/pump in there…
The best tho is the ‘spring’ house which is built over a wet spring (water runs all year round)… the water comes out of the ground at about 45 degrees… your home made, not electric, refrigerator! I would love to have one…or both… lolol I can be greedy if I want…. This is definitely wishful thinking on my part… lololol
Guess that’s it for the day… Gots to make all the rest of them phone calls today… Sheesh!
Take care all of mine. Go in safety always.. Remember that ‘simpler’ is most often the best route to take.
Many hugs, much love and lots of lafter… meems
