TOMORROW IS WEAR RED DAY … REMEMBER OURS WHO SERVE!
I’ve been up since 0500, mainlining coffee, opening doors (dogs in/dogs out) Said the heck with it and propped storm door open. They can let themselves in and out!
Found a series of articles this morning in Science Daily on PTSD. If anybody is interested, you can go to www.sciencedaily.com I will be publishing one a day in the Armed Forces News on my military and veterans groups.
It’s still dark out there and it’s only 42 degrees. Can you say BRRRR!?! Lolol I am soooo hard to please. First it’s too hot… then tooo wet and now getting too chilly. I don’t want to turn the furnace on yet. Sheesh!
I got tickled at some of the responses to the article containing the helpful household hint about Tabasco sauce.
One person who shall remain nameless, but his initials are Wombat Bratski, wanted to see the pic of me in the newspaper article. No problem if I could find it.
Find it I did…
Now you all know I have my limitations on the computer, right? Well, it was one of those times… lolol
I sent him the YouTube clip about the Knights Templar 5! I downloaded the whole series to read later… so I have no idea what’s in it.
Took me hours to get to the right place and to email it… I wonder if the Bratski fainted when he opened it? Sorry Bratski!
Speaking of YouTube, I always had the idea that the clips only contained music. I’ve discovered a whole new world of trivia… My brain loves that kind of stuff. Oh yeah!
I didn’t make the trip to town yesterday either… Apparently my brain decided to take the day off… I slept most of the day… I can see the ol body is wanting to go on midnites but everybody else is on days. Well, I’ll try to go into town Monday… that is a definite maybe there! I want to pick up a different modem to see if that will help correct some of my problems… also getting a router…
Oh and I think it was Marv who asked about the population of Greater Downtown Booneville…. Well, I called the Action Team… my buddies .. and asked. LOLOL
I don’t know why the answer struck me funny, but it did. I received an exact number for Owsley county…4,878. Booneville proper has ‘about’ 200 residents. About? Oh well, people come…people go. What is the difference between a village and a hamlet?
The ants are back in the mail box. Discovered them two days ago… Now what? It’s not rained.
I saw some of my flyguys the other day when I was playing in the dirt. No, I wasn’t wearing the red robe. Yes, I had my teeth in. And YES, I got flashed. Woohoo! YES!
One more story before I get busy for the day…This may offend some because it is ‘gallows humor’! It is acquired from working with men too long. Be warned!
Once upon a time ago I had a med emergency call come in. I don’t remember whether it was midnite or afternoon shift. I just remember it was dark out when I received the call. I dispatched the life squad and a law enforcement unit. (Remember that I knew all these people) Squad arrived at scene and because of the terrain, had to leave the vehicle on the road way. All 3 EMTS had to cross an electric fence, climb a hill, all the while dragging a gurney with them. One EMT got hung up on the electrified fence and onlookers stated she put on quite a show. Well, they got to the victim finally. Loaded him up. And down the hill they went… Except somewhere, somehow on the trek down the hill the EMTS lost their hold on the gurney…Patient still attached… I hear this gabbling of voices.. Patient was saved and nobody got hurt but me.. I was on the floor crackin’ up.. Sometimes I can be way to visual! Later all of mine… Take care and go in safety always. Remember even at the worst of times, we can find some humor… It’s the only thing that will keep you sane. Many hugs, much love and loads of lafter… meems
2009-9-29 Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home. Get out here and set a spell… I am definitely an ‘old old lady’ this morning! I have body parts that either I didn’t know I had or I had forgotten about! Trust me, it’s true! I went out to play in the dirt… Oh Gee!
I had stick tights (little flat burrs) all over my right side …from ear to ankle or there abouts. .. Even in my hair! Sheesh! The only good thing about them critters was they matched the olive t shirt I was wearing!
I loaded the pickup…took the big box of trash out. Checked the mail box… full of ants and eggs again… They ain’t worth a darn as weather forecasters. Dropped the trash out there for today’s pick up.
Had the wheel barrow, two shovels and my gardening basket with me. Well, while I’m out there at the mail box, I decided to dig up some clay which passes for dirt up here on the mountain side. Filled a 5 gal bucket twice and the little barrow was full… well, almost full. There was just enuf room for some chicken manure to mix in… Have you any idea how much a 5 gal bucket of wet clay weighs? A LOT!
Drove the pick up to the front porch flower bed… Duh Paula…If 5 gal of wet clay is heavy, then 10 gal’s weighs 4 times as much…Oh yeah! But I picked up the little barrow and set its little body right next to the steps out front. Pulled up but did not break off some of the ivy that I want to grow in the barrow… put some small bulbs in and dropped some bricks on top to pin the ivy to the dirt.
Next year then, I can wheel that little one wheeled critter out between the maple and the flowering quince. I just hope nobody steals it… Oh I just had an idea… wire concrete blocks to it and bury the blocks… cover liberally with that ‘hot’ topical cream that ppl use for arthritis. Just might work…
Once upon a time ago, in the city of Hamilton I lived in a house situated on a small rise. Well, I planted shrubs and ivy and bulbs and….Came home from work one day and some one had come by and pulled up one of my shrubbies…
I fussed but replanted that little critter… Next day, come home from work and there is the little shrub on the side walk again. Hmmmm…. Now, I am getting upset…but I replant the little shrubby…
Go back into the house, pick up the phone and call the Police Dept. One of my rotten kids answered. We exchanged couple of pleasant obscenities…I asked a couple of questions… Got the answers I’d hoped for… thanked the rascal and hung up.
I went to the kitchen cabinet, grabbed the bottle of tabasco sauce and out the door I went again.
You know what’s coming, doncha? Lolol Yup, I did! I went out there and sprinkled my poor little shrub with the tabasco sauce.. and waited.
Next day… there was that poor misbegotten shrub on the side walk again. I put on some gloves and replanted. The lil shrub lived happily ever after…. Don’t mess with the emom…She has a degree in Gotcha! Lolol
I was up overnite… couldn’t sleep… finally said the heck with it and rolled out. I did some more clean up in the living room and carried the trash out… this was about 0400 hours…
It was 40 degrees out there. 40! Sheesh! The air was still and dry. I looked up and saw the Milky Way. Saw Orion striding across the sky with his sword in the air… Still fending off the enemy after all these years…The Egyptians worshipped him and I can see why.. It crossed my mind that even tho I was here alone on the mountain, I was still being protected and guarded by an Egyptian god. I think it is the belief that counts.
Later all of mine… take care and go in safety always. Remember to use the Tabasco when it counts… lololol
Well, kids, I don’t know if y’all want to sit on the porch this morning or not! Can you say chilly and windy? Dark wispy clouds are sailing over the holler… Swirling and gusty to the point where the trees are dancing the twist! Supposed to be that way all day.
Oh well, I didn’t have anything planned for today anyway…
Gots to tell ya that I woke to a disaster area and it’s been a while since I have been so blessed… (detect a note of sarcasm here) The hall way is full of shredded whatever the Max and Viva could get out of a box of burnable trash! Oh yeah…! Gots to get the rake busy again.
Then I heard Lilah rattling around out there but didn’t pay much attention until…. Do I hear squeaking? Oh dear! Oh yes! The Lilah has a mouse by the tail! She is looking around frantically for a place to hide it? To stash for later? To keep away from the dogs? What!?!
No answer required to that question! I now have a mouse with an attitude running around the house. Sheesh…
I have no problem with mice as long as they are outside. Inside, they can cause a lot of damage plus snakes follow mice.
Again, I have no problems with snakes as long as we have been introduced and they stay outside in the wild. Lolol
Speaking of snakes… Cinti zoo…different trip maybe or it could have been the same day/trip. I have no concept to time…period!
For some reason, the zoo keeps some of their most dangerous critters in the same building complex as the elephants… or they did.
Anyway, I wander around inside the building…check the turtle pit…then I go over to look at the captive (thank goodness) poisonous reptiles.
Lordy pete, it was crowded that day. (I digress [thank you KK for that lovely word}.) I wander along… looking at the displays…oh, this one had just shed or sloughed its old skin. That one had just been fed… Huge pythons…. Wowser.
Well, I was standing there just left of center, in front of the Gaboon Viper display admiring the body patterns when a little boy…10 maybe… climbs up on the heavy double railing right next to me. Leans forward…places nice warm palms on the glass front…puts his weight on his hands and leans closer. OMG!
I wait a few seconds horrified expecting the boy’s mother to corral him… Nope…nada from Mama!
I couldn’t stand it and finally spoke to the boy…†I don’t think that’s a good idea… leaning against the glass.â€Â
Now Mama reacts… Yaah! Get down! You break that glass and I’ll have to pay for it!
I left the building and headed to the aquarium to observe the Lemon sharks. Life is much simpler with the sharks! Sharks ain’t stupid!
Here’s another comment from Therman! LOLOL I must admit, he is quite bright “What most folks fail to realize is you can't just make this stuff up. I believe , of course, that you did your homework on this critter riding before you did it. Just how long did it take you to learn how to speak elephant and camel ? Without a doubt, it will come in handy one day. On that day, I want to be among the few that claim I know the lady that was born ready for it!â€Â
Thank you Therman… I think!
I watched some TV last nite… I really must quit doing that. I watched a crew sink a beautiful decommissioned ship…M69..The Wellington. The men who served aboard her will be glad to know that she is now acting as a base for reef building critters…And a playground for divers.
I guess that is a good thing… She is still serving but I still felt sad. Be at rest, beautiful Lady. You have earned it.
Later all of mine…Take care…Go in safety always. Remember when all else fails, go visit a reef… It just might be one of our Ladies of the battle for freedom.
Many hugs, much love and lots of lafter … meems
PS....A note to Therman...I speak Muppetese also! lololol gotcha!
Well, get your buns out here on the porch… Gorgeous day… skies are blue with white puffies running around up there… Air is a dry 69 degrees and a lovely cool breeze is wandering thru and around the pond. Yes!
There is water in the pond again. A herd of bees out there playing in the cow daisies. Just a humming!
Heard a couple of them BBSBs while I was out feeding the critters… Couldn’t see ‘em but I looked and waved anyway.
An aside to Easy re crows… While I was feeding chicks, I was whistling and talking to the crows… I put some food out for them too… All four of them.., momma, poppa and two young’uns. They flew to the trees in the lower corner of the field and waited until I left to come back inside. Then it was food time!
I got the funniest comments on the Yesterdays’ News… lolol Jasmin, my roving reporter in Hawaii, sent me an instruction clip on slalom skiing… Sorry, Jas, no help at all here in the mountains. Lolol Appreciate the thot tho!
Here is an excerpt from another friend… “I have been up on skis once in my life. Fell, forgot to let go, plowed down the deep six, and damn near drown. Now I am confused here. Did you eventualy afix that chair to skis and sit while you were towed behind an aircraft carrier? I can see it..yep..just a minute..yes..thats something you would do.â€Â
Does this guy have faith in my abilities or what?
One time I came home from the Cinti Zoo. Called a friend, Jackie, told her where I had been and what I had been up to…
Said that I had ridden the elephant and the camel at the zoo. Got dead silence at the other end of the phone. ?
What’s wrong? Don’t you believe me? Oh yes, I believe you….She replies that she is stunned that I wasn’t arrested! Me? Arrested? Why?
Well, she said she could just see me at the elephant compound. Elephant reaching out to me… me climbing over the fence, across the moat to reach the elephant and climbing aboard… arresting officers, small riot, banned from zoo…. All that neat stuff that happens when I leave the house.
And what do you call the two hump camel? Bactrian? Yup that’s it… had to go thru 3 dictionaries to find the correct spelling and spell check doesn’t know the word. Sheesh!
Anyway, after I paid to ride the elephant… (miserable ride) off I went to ride the camel… Now, I am a good rider of horses… wasn’t too sure how this camel ride was gonna work.
I clamber aboard… between the two humped saddle construction. Settle my buns… kick my feet out of the stirrups and off I go.
Interesting ride… I enjoyed and learned at the same time. Because of the camel stride your bottom half must move in a figure eight while the upper half stays still. Wasn’t able to run the camel so I don’t know how that works. Anyway, the walk stride is good for keeping the waist line in trim…
Just thought you all might like to know that! Lolol or not! Never know when this info might come in handy. Doesn’t everybody have a camel or two in their back yards…
Or then again… I could just throw a saddle on the Newbie…..
Been playing with the paintbrushes and getting covered myself… Finished a Horse With No Name (a desert is still a desert) and did another day’s work on Abandoned. (Thank you Boss for the title. It suits.)
Oh boy… maybe tomorrow I can get outside and play in the dirt. Spray and cover myself up and off I go… Don’t be surprised if I get bitten by sumfin… but maybe I’ll luck out and the dogs will chase the wild ones off.
Later all of mine… take care. Go in safety always. Remember to appreciate the perfect day… They don’t come by too often.
Many hugs, much love and lots of lafter… meems
2009-9-26 1855 hours Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home
Just came back in the house. gathered the mail and listened to the creek a roaring. We've had almost 3" of rain in less than 24 hours.
Got my Mickey Mouses wet AND my pants legs. Not to mention the mail is soaked and the inks are running! Small streams flowing down both sides of the house. Water standing in the shallow depressions in the yard. And it is still raining.the clouds are capping the hollers. The pond has water in it again! YES!!!!
The winds have blown the yellow daisies over. Might go back out in a few to cut some to bring in the house. And I still have flower bulbs to plant. It is cooler today. Maybe if it's dry tomorrow, I can get some planted. Keeping my fingers crossed..
I almost saw the top of the kitchen table today. Never doubt the emom. she will get to the bottom of the pile! Or not. lolol depending on her mood . Or not!
Well, I woke up way before breakfast this morning. The storms woke me and the lightning flashes kept me there. The storm gods were having themselves a stomping good party. Wonder what they had been drinking.Do storm gods get hangovers? I know they DO get grumpy sometimes.
Then I remembered the dreams. One was a nightmare that I must ponder. the other was a reminder of the second hand chair. I woke up giggling!
Once upon a time ago, a friend gave me a swivel chair that she no longer wanted. I had a perfect spot in the dining/TV room for this chair. the color was even right. I was a happy camper. Friend did warn me that the chair wobbled a little. No problem. I just keep on using my original swivel rocker. keep the new one for looks.
Well, this one day, I was home from work. One of the guys I worked with stopped by with an envelope (oh oh). I invited him in. threw some coffee at him and told him to have a seat. he sat in my old chair.
I plopped my buns into the new chair. The new chair promptly fell over backwards. There I am..flat on my back on the floor.looking at the ceiling light fixture through my feet which were now waving in the air. Lolol I've got the giggles again.
Co-worker had the strangest expression on his face. (I don't think he'd ever seen anything like this before.) He did manage to ask what I was doing (I do this every day, right?) and was I ok?
I couldn't answer him. Needless to say I was embarrassed but I was also hysterical! I howled, whooped and hollered, pounded on the handy floor, turned purple and blue from lack of oxygen, my stomach hurt and I couldn't breathe. I laffed til I cried. co-worker got tickled and we both whooped and howled.
I did spend a little time on the floor. he couldn't help me up because he was so tickled. And when I get that tickled, I am helpless.
I don't care what's happening if I am tickled I can't do anything else but laff.
I can swim but will drown easily if I am laffing. I used to water ski. some guys at a small lake in Indiana had a boat and a man's slalom ski (one ski with a blade) Want to try it Paula? Sure, why not.
Well, I get in the water. one ski. Hmmmm. Right foot? No, make it my left foot. I wave ok. And off we go.
I made one lap. lost the ski. went airborn.did an impossible hand spring movement . hit the water..15 feet below the surface. Lost the top to my bathing suit. got hysterical while I was still under water. Saw lafter bubbles rising ahead and above me. Oopsie, air in lungs will help me to the surface. quit laffing ding ding! Couldn't do it! I made it to the surface.. took one breath and started howling out loud.
Got another one of those looks. the guys had to haul me, limp and laffing, into the boat. Then there's the time that Seets was baby bucking while I was riding him bareback.. Lolololol
Take care all of mine. Go in safety always. Remember never to go water skiing with me. It's almost as dangerous as shopping with me.
2009-9-25 TODAY IS WEAR RED FOR OUR TROOPS DAY! Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home!
Ok, how come it is if you clean and rearrange one room, then the rest of the house especially the kitchen, looks like a tornado struck? You all know what I mean… no matter how careful you are…No matter how neat and tidily you’ve put things away/where they belong, the kitchen is always ends up a disaster area! Sheesh!
Ok… so today, I lost my faith in the ants and the weather predictions… No ants but high humids and sprinkles….Heavy black clouds came in out of the east yesterday late afternoon…I mean those clouds were scraping the tree tops… Ceiling for all intents and purposes was/is zero. And when I rolled out early with the dogs, I couldn’t see anything out back….Heavy duty fog…and now flash flood warnings again.
Anyhow, I didn’t see any ants but I did see one of my flyguys for a minute or so before he got lost in the cloud deck. I heard another one and waved… but I could even tell what direction he was going.
Little Jake aka Wayne sent me a clip of the Blue Angels. I always say I want to go up just one time… and I would! However the passenger in the clip passed out 4 times during some of the maneuvers… poor guy…too many G forces… Don’t know if I would do that or not, pass out…I know that I don’t get air sick. Does that count for anything? Thank you rotten kid! Hugs…
Fall is just beginning… That is a sugar maple in a fence line about two miles from my house… Straight line/as the crow flies…lololol
And I’ll tell ya sumfin else… I made a mistake and watched some tv last nite. Animal Planet… This one dealt with abused animals… I can’t bear to think about animals or children being mistreated. I cried through the whole thing. I couldn’t NOT watch it. I still think about the starving dog I passed on the road right after I got home from the hospital.
I couldn’t take care of it…You know, money and health were both in scarce supply right at that time. I will NEVER do that again. Sorry… I feel strongly about this subject.
Change the subject, meems!
Well, I tripped over another leaderless group… Military, of course (Vintage Military Veterans)… I’ve asked that rotten Annie to be Mod on that group and also the Gotcha Gang. I am a glutton for punishment… Naturally, she accepted! Lolol The worst part is that I know what I am in for… Duh Paula! Lololol Sorry Annie….Gotcha!
I am still working on the idea of an ADOPT A MILTARY BASE group. The idea being a/the place for any one who cares to give moral support and pass on info about their chosen base or military branch… Or it can be about any news article local or otherwise… a centralized location for family, friends to post any updates… Personal or family news… (i.e., birth, wedding announcements) News about the WALL or local memorials…a letter from home.
Am I making any sense at all…? Anyway, let me know what you all think about this idea. Again, I have approached Eons about this idea. Seems like a good idea to the person I talked to… Eons will even bring the group to forefront…Will be looking for a couple of military mods for the group… Look out, the emom is on the prowl… lolol
Be thinking about what you can do to help to let ours know they are not forgotten. view link Here is a link to the Vietnam Veterans’ group. The Boss has started a thread for postings and photos of and about our heroes. Check it out and add to it! Great idea Boss!
I need to get to town and take pix of our Veterans’ Memorial… if the sun ever stays out long enuf for me to get there and take them… Still don’t have my tail assembly put back together…Ah well…Maybe this coming month!
What else…. Oh yeah… the Boss has been at it again! I swear that man must have ideas falling out of his ears 24/7. I take my eyes off him two minutes and everything has changed…
I’m talking about the Elite Joiners (how to do nothing and be proud of it!) group… Now EJ has a new name – Blooming Boomers – and a new color scheme… Looks good Boss.
And the Marvin’s group, Ask Marvin, has been taken over by new management and also has a new name… “Ask ‘If you dareâ€Â. A fun group and a little bit rowdy at times but some of the conversations/threads are outrageously funny!
Is that it? I guess, nothin’ else comes to mind right now..
Take care all of mine. Go in safety always. Remember things could be worse… I could be your co-worker and your neighbor…
Many hugs, much love and lots of lafter… meems
2009-9-241406 hoursTOMORROW IS WEAR RED DAY!REMEMBER OUR TROOPSWelcome home, dear hearts, welcome home…
Get in here!Plant your buns and make yourselves to home!I am a grump… I’ll get over it, I suppose. But I gots a stoppied up doze and my hair hurts.Other than that, I am in great shape!
I called the post office yesterday… Poor Doug answered the phone…Rattles off this whole schpieland ends up with ‘may I help you?’Well, I crack up… He know immediately who’s at the other end of the line… He starts laffing… Cause I always respond with ‘I am beyond help.’
Anyway, I asked about the ants in the mail box…lololol… Just being silly!Doug told me I had called the wrong place… I should call the ‘Exterminator’.(Is that Arnold in a fancy/shiny suit)Just a thot… Conversation went down hill after that…I love those guys… Doug and Gary always discuss the merits of calling the police when I show up… lolololThey know me well!
I forgot that yesterday was the Autumnal Equinox.12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness… and it used to be harvest and State Fair time…Never did manage to get to the Ohio state fair but I’ve heard it was a dandy.
I would always go to the Butler County fair.Saw a lot of pple I knew and hadn’t seen for a while.Would go through the live stock barns… Did you know that Brown Swiss cows are huge?Beautiful critters tho…
I’d check out the horses, the rabbits, the chickens…hogs…sheep…and then head for the Arts and crafts building… Also spent a small fortune on goodies… best home made peanut butter fudge.Oh yeah!Cotton candy!Hot dogs, Coney Islands, home grown buttered corn on the cob…steamy hot.
One year I was volunteered to work the Sheriff’s tent/display at the Fair.LololThere I am in full uniform, all the brass buttons and pins, badges, straw Smokey hat and all… trying to keep my shoes looking shiny.. Ya can’t slouch in uniform, did you know that?Somebody will catch you sure as heck and let you know to STRAIGHTEN UP!And keeping shoes shiny is almost impossible considering you are walking in 6 inches of dust and dirt the whole time.
No, I didn’t ride the Ferris Wheel nor the Merry-go-round in uniform… Can you say time off without pay?Lololbut I was tempted!
I wish I could get Shelley to send me a copy of the photo of the red haired me in uniform but maybe she’s lost it… I looked down right professional back then… and not a smidgeon of oil paint on me… lolololDid I ever tell you about the jailers locking me between the Sally port doors?Oh dear!
I can see it now… down the road apiece, I will be given a lie detector test.‘Have you ever been in jail?’Well, yes……Have you ever been arrested?’ Well, no… ‘Finger printed?’ Yes…Photographed holding a number?Yes….And you’ve never been arrested?Well, No…‘Lady, you can’t have it both ways!’Oh yes I can!LOLOLOLTrust me, you are in a heap of trouble if the guys/gals liked and trusted you… I loved it!And I always got even!
Later, everybody.Take care all of mine…go inoopsieNewbie playing tether-ball again…
Go in safety always…Remember to find joy in every day…
Many hugs, much love and lots of lafter… meems
Here you go! A baby white rhino…lolol but it’s not a newborn… Newborns are cuter and funnier!
Well, I just came back inside. I went out to the mail box to get the weather report. Dry weather for a while… the ants have packed up their eggs and gone back home. I spritzed the inside with vinegar tho… just in case…
The sky was a crystal blue when I went out… Then a few whispy clouds started forming. Gonna be hot and muggy tho… and I HEARD one of my BBSB’s up there.
No contrail but I finally spotted him/her… I waved and threw hugs and kisses… I GOT FLASHED! A couple of times… Woohoo! Made my day… I laffed and waved until the Bird disappeared from sight… got into the misty section of the sky and I lost her.
Fed and watered the critters and now, I am just waiting for the Weed to arrive. Talked to his mom last nite… She is a nice lady and acts as his appointment secretary. Lolol Weeds’ Aunt Edna works at the pharmacy in town…
Now, Edna is a nice lady… sometimes! She’s almost but not quite as rotten as me! I go in and we do gotcha’s on each other… Then she throws me out the front door! It’s a bear being popular! I think sometimes I shock her…. Would you believe that? Nah, never happen! Lolol
Ok, I got some plants in the mail… Need to get outdoors and do some work but the bugs are still biting….And I have a small child’s wheelbarrow setting in the hall way. This is gonna be planted with flowers and ivy as soon as I get some decent dirt. Lolol
Anyway, I drilled, make that burned, holes in the bottom of the barrow for drainage… I’ll put it out front, pin the ivy down and hope it takes root.. Also hope that nobody steals it. Anybody have a dead snake I can borrow?
And did you know you can use a wood burning tool to do a lot of other things. I burned the holes in the condo with it. Gots to be careful of fire and fumes but it works!
Guess that’s it for now… Take care all of mine. Go in safety always. Remember to Think! And to try and do it creatively! Gotcha everybody! Lolol
If this isn’t the nuttiest place I’ve ever been, I eat my hat! Sheesh! The ants and eggs in the mailbox were right….
More rain! From now on, I won’t even bother to check the Nat’l Weather service reports. I’ll just check with the ants. Wonder if this works in the winter time and snow…freezing rain? Sleet? Black ice? Never thought to check on this before…
I’ve really worked myself to a frazzle. You know, a couple of naps and a look out the back door! But I did do some work last nite… lolol
Aquarium has a new home… Becky gave me her Mom’s entertainment center a while back. I decided to put the e-center where the aquarium had been. So I started moving stuff off the center…It’s amazing the amount of stuff that I have collected over the years.
The center holds my collection of hand made red clay items. My ugly little man (copy of a museum piece)…A mini or child’s tea set…a pot.. a tray.. a wedding vase (two spouts) a Peruvian pipe..(no, not that kind, a music pipe)..It plays and has a very eerie sound. Gee, I forget what else.
Anyway, I try my usual move with the hips pulling the center from side to side. Hmmm! This isn’t working .. this critter weighs a ton! I try straight forward pulling… nope, this ain’t working either but I have at least gotten it away from the wall and headed in the right direction.
When all else fails, I use my legs and feet.
I plopped my buns on the floor, put the soles of my feet on the side of the e-center and started pushing. WooHooo! Center started sliding. Finally got it to the other side of the room…thought about using it as a room divider…looked at it, pondered a while… moved a chair next to it. Nope, didn’t like that!
Sat and pondered about placement while fending off the 6 pack +. They love it when I am on the floor. PLAY TIME! MOM’S ON THE FLOOR! Oh dear!
Well, I decide just to go ahead and put it in the same spot as the aquarium. Now this is a whole different ball game from the slide across the floor.
Carpet was not co-operating with me. Cross grain of carpet was a bear! I used my buns/feet technique and it didn’t work this time. Planted feet firmly; buns were planted. I started pushing and my buns slid backwards. Now, this is not what I had in mind! Hmm!
I tugged, pulled, pushed, wrestled, and yes, I planted a few kicks at the bottom… The kicks worked! An inch or so at a time, but it worked. It took me over an hour to kick that stubborn center to the right location. So now the living room is a total disaster area. I need to move the loveseat, the coffee table, end tables… on and on and on. I still have two sets of shutters in there and the hanging chairs.. Aren’t you glad I told you all of this? I’m sure there’s a lesson in here somewhere.
I gotta tell ya… I rec’d an email from a friend last evening… Wanting to know about my cigars… He thot it was a riot that I smoke cigars… lolol. I had to tell him about Glen and his thots on the matter…
I guess I bring some light heartedness to Glen… Sort of.. he says he cracks up at the picture his mind conjures up of his mom here in the mountains.
Me settin’ on the front porch in a rocking chair, smoking a pipe with a shot gun across my lap. Or better yet, me in an old mule drawn wagon ,traveling down the dirt road… still smokin’ the pipe… shot gun across my lap (Beverly Hillbillies style?)… lolol I am so glad that he finds his mom so amusing. I live to please! lololol
Glen has also mentioned me being in my second childhood… Mom? Yes, Glen? Mom, when you outgrow your second childhood, can we…..? lolol I am then forced to explain once again that I am still in my first childhood…that we must deal with this one first and then…. New York? Well, why not? Can’t wait to see if the mountain telegraph is correct on this one… lolol view link
Some how, I just can’t see a New Yorker living up here on the mountain… But what do I know anyway?
Later, rotten kids…Take care all of mine. Go in safety always. Remember to check the ants for the updated weather report!
Many hugs, much love and lots of lafter… meems
