Ya know, it doesn't pay for me to try to keep a schedule! I get sidetracked so easily. A 15 second pause in a conversation and my mind is off and gone, miles down the road! Some probably would say, "No discipline"... and 'they' just might be right! lolol That's ok though... I kind of like the way my brain works... especially when a lot of ideas bubble up and fall out of my fingertips.

About yesterday... I did get on a roll about the imported kudzu and lady bugs... But I didn't lie and I certainly didn't make it up...

Then this morning, I roll out... let the dogs in/out... finally said the heck with it and propped the door open. Turned the heat off for the day! Grabbed some coffee... Started to sit down in my swinging chair. Thought I was set for a while! lolol Wrong!

The Newbie came in ... of course, he was just forced to 'pack greet' the Mom... Slobber and Burrs now adorn my clothes... the chair... the floor... (the bed is a NO NO right now) A slurp hit my glasses, my hair is wet around the edges.... and I am starting to look a little bedraggled! I love it!

Oh here is one from JC... A long time friend but he is off the wall sometimes... lolol So, read and laff a bit... This one sounds like something I would do! Tee hee hee! (read evil laff here)

OH NO! I heard a yip out of Spudley a little bit ago... Just one... OK.. Everything seems ok.. Says she! Again WRONG! He just came in to the apartment... Guess who's been playing with a skunk again?!?! You guessed already? Oh yeah! I give up... I'm turning the house over to the 6 pack! Maybe they'll let me live in the basement temporarily! Will I want to though? Have to consider cold weather is on the way.. Decisions, decisions... Flip a coin Paula!

The rain has stopped... YES, the magic word ... beautiful rain! lolol Had 8/10 " of rain yesterday... The storm gods must be on vacation cause they didn't show up... But! The gentle rain gods visited... So, I did a happy thank you rain dance this morning for more than one reason!

Fido did NOT like the rain! She's a duck for goodness sake! I thought ducks like rain/water... Not this one... Fido complained non-stop yesterday! I am not exaggerating, NON_STOP... Contrary to her belief systems, I cannot call off the rain! Sheesh! It was so bad/noisy yesterday, I considered trying to find her a new home... Useless idea! After one day of listening to her, the takers would be bringing her back! I'd find her sitting on the door step complaining about the trip or sumfin! What's a mother to do? lolol

I want to thank SherriAnne for coming to the rescue yesterday... I asked for some help for Handsofhope; SherriAnne came thru and helped Hands! Now go to VNV or WHVV and see the beautiful bird! The leader of the Blue Angels! Wonderful photo...

Guess that's it for the time being... I'm sure I've forgotten sumfin! I usually do! Oh yeah! I somehow managed to lose all the pix from yesterday... The ones of Newbs covered with Spanish needle burrs! lolol

I give up! I absolutely give up! I surrender! I quit! I am running away from home... no forwarding... dyeing my hair, face lift, body transplant, non-list phone! Sheesh!

Between the Newbie, the Marv and all of my other alleged friends, I have taken a real beating the last couple of day!

Newbie was fine first thing this morning... I just got another look at him and he is COVERED with burrs... What they call Spanish Needles. I took a couple of pix.. we'll see if they come out! The pix, not the burrs! His beautiful tail feathers are all matted with them too... Anybody got a razor?!? Karen, do I hear you volunteering? Yooo Hooo? Anybody? Well, ratz!

Marv! Well, Marv is a whole different story! Him went out to breakfast with friends yesterday! You know what he had? PUNKIN pancakes! Punkin! and he didn't ask or invite me to go! PUNKIN! Sheesh Marv! Worse yet he must go on and on about how good the pancakes were! Had four of them! I didn't even get a sniff! You just wait, Brat! I have a looooong memory! I'll think of sumfin!

Let's see what else can I complain about! I'm sure there is something else... Oh yeah, anybody else out there familiar with the 'imported' Lady Bugs? What a mess! Y'all know what I'm talking about? Them lil beetles that look sort of like our lady bugs? There are millions of them out right now and that is no exaggeration! They were imported just like kudzu!

The ILB's were imported to reduce the number of aphids in the fields and the kudzu was brought in to reduce the erosion at the road cuts thru the mountains. Trust me they are both pests... Neither one do what they are supposed to do... especially the kudzu! It grows like a carpet and is covering and killing the trees and the native plants...nothing lives in it... but a lot of not so nice critters live in it shade! Now, let me tell you, if the Army won't send our men or tanks into kudzu, I ain't a goin' either.

Goats won't even eat it, contrary to what some believe! Oh, maybe an occasional goat will develope a taste for it but not the whole herd... so goats won't clear the area of the weed!

Only two things work to get rid of Kudzu... One is a poison spray which must be repeated... the other is a herd of pigs... altho I am not sure if the pigs like that stuff or not... However, if pigs are used, they root up the ground and erosion sets in again! Hmmm!

Wonder if "they" have ever heard of the law of Unintended Results?

Wowser! Where did that come from? Could it be that I have the ILB's clustering in the corners of every room in the house? Could it be them little critters stink to high heavens? Could it be because they leave a large, for them, yellow stain on curtains and anything else they wander over? Nah! Would I get grumpy about something that smells bad, makes a mess and serves no useful purpose that I can see? Ah yes, the aliens among us!

Now! I think that is out of my system for the moment! You may not feel better, but I do! lolol And really, that's all that counts! Oh goody! I found some humor there! Starting to giggle, meems... lolol

A HEADS UP....I need some one to help HandsofHope with some photos, please. I am totally unable to navigate in Photobucket and I am not able to help her. She is one of mine and she has some beautiful pix of the Blue Angels that she would like to share in VNV. If you can help her get the pix to the group page, I can help her from there.

Oh dear, I feel another complaint coming on! Spudley just came in to visit the Mom person! Oh boy! He stinks again! These critters have very questionable taste in aromas! How come it is they must share their 'heavenly' scent? At least he is not covered with burrs but he does have a couple of fuchsia splotches on his side... I wonder if.... looks like a paint ball hit to me. or the color of bank money dye! Sumfin else to ponder!

Now, that's over and done with... Mornin' everybody! Come on out on the porch and set a spell... or not! Might just be a bit safer if you by-pass the emom's this morning... crackin up! I always give fair warning...a little late maybe but I always warn...lololol

I really must learn to keep my fingers away from this critter's keys, (delete and enter), the tabs, new locations, numbers and letters! I am in sooooo much trouble!

Can you believe there's bunches of people picking on me already today? Good grief! All because I managed to glue the seat of my pants to a cushion yesterday! Yes, I was wearing said britches and No, I didn't consider the possibilities until I discovered my new appendage! When I am working (painting/creative) I zero in on the subject and the whole world ceases to exist... If the house were on fire, I would be yelling wait, wait, wait! Make sense? No! .. but it's what happens when I start working!

In other words, I was not aware that I had wiped glue covered hands on the seat of my pants... I was busy gluing a piece of canvas to a mini support for a miniature painting I plan to do... Then I heard the beep of emails being delivered. Came flying back here to the apartment and sat in my swinging chair! Glue by this time had dried on hands... but not at the seat of the problem! LOLOL

Then there was the time I went to answer the phone... put palette of fresh paints on stool... got off phone ... came back and sat right in the middle of the paint! Couldn't figure out where I had put the palette... then UH OH! Need I say more? lolol

Then there was the neighbor who lived behind me up in Hamilton... Every now and then the phone would ring or she would be at the kitchen door. A minister's wife! LOL I would be greeted with: " Now what are you doing? You are driving me crazy!" WHAT? Just because I crumpled various colored tissue papers and hung them from the curtain rod in my little work/studio window... What's wrong with that?... I wanted a 'hand dyed' look to the papers and this was the easiest way to get the effect! Lordy pete, some neighbors are hard to please! lololol 

Well, I am out of here for the time being! More work to do ... the Emom's household hints are waiting for a new hint (read how to side step disasters)!!! lolol

Question for the day! How come I do these things? I know better but I do 'em anyway!

Where do I start? OMG! I haven't been up a half hour yet and the down hill slide has already started! I really do need a keeper! I have the giggles!

First of all, the Newbie! The Wrecking Crew and the Lily out first thing! Newbie is the only one at the door... Newbie in! Oh oh! Newbie wants to play... OK, I can do that... I stomp feet... Newbie spins then tapdances (doggie style) in a circle... I spin... stomp feet and start giggling! Newbie grinning, laff panting, does his thing again! Kind of like a square dance. This goes on for 4 or 5 minutes... I had to quit! Was laffing so hard I was turning blue! (Breathe Paula, Breathe)

Then, I sent a wx report to the Boss from his profile page... Oh dear.. Somehow, I scrolled down to his comment field... Whereupon I find the funniest Halloween graphic sent by KK.... I am already giggling; now I start cracking up... Still with me? lolol

OK... Love the graphic... forgot it was the Boss's page... Sent a response to KK thinking I was on my own profile page...The Boss is gonna read my comment... scratch head and wonder what the heck this is about...I am now on the floor! I didn't catch it until I scrolled up looking for the blog section... Too Late to stop it now!

So here I am, pondering if I should apologize or just give up for the day and head for the FOS (fall out shelter)

WW UPDATE!
LOLOL The KK has been getting bony fingers from all her research on the WW's... Interesting little critters...

HandsofHope has been diving into the Farmers Almanac and found the meaning of White WW's... Lots of snow.

Well gee whiz! Since I still haven't seen nary a one this year, does this mean I'm not having ANY weather? Last year we had just enuf snow and melt water to keep me frozen in for two weeks at a time. My road to the main highway is on the 'shady side' of the mountain... The last place for the ice and snow to melt. Oh well, no big deal... lolol The 6 pack will have plenty, the chickyduck will be OK ... and so will I...

Oh, speaking of Chickyduck, Fido has been complaining unmercifully! All day long yesterday and already this morning... She is not hungry; she has water! Yes, Fido is a she! Found an egg a while back... Anyhow, I went out on the back porch yesterday to see what was going on... lolol When I got out there and started talking to Fido (yes, I talk to all my critters) my family of Crows took off. Fido stopped complaining!

I always throw some feed outside the pen for the birds... Crows like the food... landed too close to the pen for Fido's liking. Is there such a thing as a guard duck? I'm losing my mind... lololol

OH yeah... Donna, my roving reporter in Maui, sent a message yesterday. Said she was happy to see that I was rising early and getting out a morning edition of the News. She's been talking to Marv, I just betcha! lolol

Almost forgot... My flyguys were up there yesterday... having themselves a blast... The high winds were out of the north.... The con trails turned into Mares tails in no time. Of course, I stood in the middle of the drive and watched.. I also moved to the mail box so I had something to help me stay upright... One beautiful silver bird went right over my head and 'flashed' me... Oh, to fly with the bird, to swim with the dolphin and to play with the otter....

ROFLMBO! Ya know, I have some really really weird friends.. I don't think I need to explain that! lolol Everybody is familiar with my 'cast of characters'. At least y'all should be by now! lololol

This critter (the puter) was on all nite... The first thing I do everyday is check the mail. LOLOL Mine are on a roll this morning and I have laffed till I cried... (chuckling right now) I wish I could share all the funnies with you but I best not... I skirt the thin edge of decorum (of which I have very little left) on a daily basis...And I just might end up banned from coast to coast... border to border! lolol

There is an old saying from somewhere/someone... " The way to hell is paved with good intentions" I know y'all have heard that quote before but what it doesn't say anything about is TEMPTATION!

Ah yes! Temptation! I repeat myself here... I can resist everything but temptation... lolol No matter how many times I tell myself to straighten up and fly right, I CANNOT seem to behave! lolol I just love temptations! Gets me into all kinds of trouble and I learn all kinds of lessons... Some lessons I hang on to; others I let go of in a hurry! I am having the BEST time!

Wooly (KY spelling) Worms Update! To my knowledge, there is no definitive work written about the WW. However KK, bless her heart, did a lot of research the other day on the WW...learned a lot, I did. KK has a problem with the old 'curiosity bump' also... lolol

Got another email from JC... Says he's been all over this part of KY on his motorcycle (oh yeah!) and seen some where ever he's traveled.. but as I understand it, not here in Owsley County.... Hmmm!

I received a call from Jessie who lives about 5 miles from me (as the crow flies). She and her hubby (the sainted Gary who puts up with both of us) have seen lots of them on their property... ALL are white! Now what does that mean? (I know it's a mutation!) We need somebody to study these little critters and NO it ain't gonna be me! I need more hours in the day anyway without taking on another project! Sheesh!

Ah me! Another weather alert! Heavy frost again tonite! Ok, that's great to know but... Why in the world would the alert alarm keep going off in the early hours of the morning?

The other day/nite I received the same alert... no problem... However, the alarm kept going all nite long! Kept waking me up! Like at 0300 est I was gonna get out of bed to do something about the frost? Ditto at 0400...0500...0600! Come on guys! enuf is enuf! lololol Gonna leave puter on tonite and see if the same thing happens... I'm a glutton for punishment, me! Why am I laffing?

Well, kids... Cold and frosty again this morning... No air moving... Bundled up and went out on the porch for my first mug of coffee! Sun was up, frost was melting and dripping off the eaves...I looked up and saw my flyguys a playing up there... Been awhile since there's been enuf moisture in the sky to show the con trails... I was wondering what game they were playing this morning... Wasn't quite sure whether it was tic tac toe again or hop scotch. lololol Boss man said they were 'flocking' south.... lolol Now, is this 'flocking' a permanent thing or a temporary? Lololol I would head north for the winter myself... Hot muggies and I do not get along well at all!

Made a fresh pot... it is perking... Ya know, I don't like that new coffee maker... I have yet to make a fresh pot, pour the water, pour the coffee without spilling some of it all over the counter! Maybe the maker doesn't like me!

Wait! Newbie wants back in! Sheesh! BTW, for those of you who might be interested, Newbs is still growing! Oh yeah! Now he has his full winter coat and it is spectacular! He has a mane from his head to the center of his back... Just like a lion's... Can you believe people are afraid of him? He really is as gentle as a lamb... well, sort of... mostly! lolol and he always makes me laff! Goofy dog fell asleep on the bed the other day... head and front paws hanging over the side... purt near to falling off... sound asleep... snoring slightly... I took a couple of pix with the D cam but didn't have the settings right... they came out too dark to use... well, ratz!

I also took a few pix of the finished landscape... These didn't come out either... The colors didn't translate well... Some days I win, some days I lose! lolol Oh, well, as I've said before, I'm a painter, not a photographer...

BRRRRRR! Gee whiz guys! I think I have a problem here with my thermometers... One said 58° when I got up this morning and the other one said 28°. I think I am more apt to believe the second one! I saw fields of thick frost .... and I do mean thick...

As I said before, each day a new adventure! Well, yesterday afternoon, I looked out the east bedroom window. Beautiful blue sky dotted with clouds! Now here comes the new part... The sun was at a low angle and the clouds were shaped like huge pancakes. Seriously... round and flat! I've never seen anything like that before... not ever! Our local mountain skies produce all kinds of neat cloud formations... Have you ever watched a cloud unfold into the blue? Have you ever watched while an Anvil Head collapses with the weight of the rain it holds? Have you ever seen streamers of clouds rolling to the east? Mares tails... a moon bow? I have even seen mirages on two separate occasions... And no, I hadn't been into the Vanilla bottle! lolol

You know, it's a wonder that I get anything done (constructive) at all for looking at and experiencing all the wonders up here...! When the wild flowers bloom in their season, the aromas are wondrous... Honeysuckle and clover, the fruit trees, lilacs, the wild roses.... Oh, it is a world unto itself in my little hollar...

And the Wooly Worms... Well, lolol, I received a message from my Buddy, JC... He and Johnny (the police Chief) ride their motorcycles all over the place on the week-ends... anyway, he says he's seen quite a few but didn't specify where... Have to get on that boy to give me more info the next time he gives a Wooly Worm update. Sue, his beautiful wife, says she has seen one. One! All brown... Hmmm! I think that means a dry winter but cold... But then again, it could mean something else... lolol I think I have started sumfin with the Wooly Worm questions cause I ask everybody... I have gotten WW reports from as far away as Arizona! lolol I didn't know they had them that far west! Learn sumfin new everyday!

Let's see here...Oh yeah... The emom has a new column appearing in Chit Chat Chums.... It's called Odds and Ends... It's gonna be full of Emom's Mountain Household Tips... Yesterday's article ? Well, I am off to do sumfin... whether it will be a useful sumfin, I'm not sure! If I remember, the kitchen linoleum is white.... Cain't swear to it tho... Gonna try and find out today tho! Curiosity is getting the best of me! lololol

Gee whiz! Froze my buns when I rolled out this mornin! Lily and the Wrecking crew couldn't have gotten any closer to the emom if they tried! They were not happy campers when Mom moved the covers aside and the cold air came charging into the warmth. LOLOL Talked about your basic unhappy to be disturbed puppies! Got dirty looks, grumpy mumblings, drooping heads and tail feathers! And, they definitely don't like the back door being closed! Starting to sound like the Marv! Gotcha brat! Now I am laffing out loud! Love to do Gotchas on the Marv!

I am digressing (thank you KK) again... Cold in the house! I TURNED THE HEAT ON! Was below 60 in the kitchen... Too cold for this old body. I turned heat on just enuf to take the chill off. Put on umpteen layers of clothes (Yes, I am dressed) my winter slipper boots (keep my ankles warm) and my hair is down (keeps my neck and shoulders warm) And YES, I am really cute again! lolol

Morning everybody! Come out here on the porch for a little bit... The sun has come out and it's starting to warm up some. Look over there by the chickyduck pen! A family of Blue Jays! and a herd of gold finch! With the rain we had yesterday ( .4"), the pond has a little more water in it. Was too cold tho for the frogs to come out and party. And I certainly had cold ears when I went down to feed the critters in the pen. I heard a screech owl during the day and I saw two different flocks of buzzards circling to the west of me. They do that (Mass together) just prior to migrating. Some stay over winter but not many.

Oh, I forgot to mention... when I went to town last week... not one Wooly Worm! And yesterday, I had a delivery from UPS. I asked the lady who drives the truck if she had seen any wooly worms... and she said no! Now, that lady is all over these country roads on a daily basis! And she hasn't seen nary a one? I think we are in real trouble here in the mountains! She did mention she talked to a guy who had seen just ONE! The guy told her (according to the color bands on the wooly) we will have a hard winter early, a warm spell then a terribly cold and stormy period starting in January. We have a 'hard' frost alert for tonite.

Right now is the time to look for good property to buy here in the mountains... The extremely dry conditions have caused the water starved trees and plants to die off early. The only trees with colorful foliage now are the ones who still have access to ground water. Good places to live and a good water supply for a well.

Oh dear! Fido is out there just a fussin! Sheesh.. and I need to put some more hay in the pen for the critters... Lots of work in some ways to keep critters happy!

Later chill'uns... The meems must get busy and get more work done! The kitchen floor still awaits! I did find the table top before I went to bed last nite! Amazing! It looks like wood! lololol I really must sand the stretchers on the chairs and repaint them... The Newbie has done some creative chewing!

Mornin' all! Welcome home dear hearts, welcome home! Just been down to Andy's for a few minutes... to see what's going on in the world... Was quiet there... Had a coffee and some of that yummy rum cake.... That boy is gonna fatten me up yet... He has the best food!

OH, I gotta tell you about this site that LittleJake sent to me the other day! Wowser... I got to FLY! Fly over snow covered mountains, joy stick (read mouse) in hand. OMG! It was fantastic! Couple of close calls... not paying attention to the height of the of the mountains... Gots to pay attention when you are at the 'helm'.... Site is www.electricoyster.com. Such freedom... I loved it... thank you LJ... It took me a while to come back home! Gonna take another trip as soon as I can work it into my schedule... I'll even give up my naps for this! lololol Beautiful... soaring like the eagle!

On the down to earth side, saw an article/segment last nite on TRU TV.... Speeders... a cop show... (for me, this is like having the scanner on in the background) I heard the word 'skunk'... turned around and sure enuf, they were talking about skunks...!

Lady was driving toooooo slowly for the traffic flow... Officer pulled her over and was going to issue a citation for impeding traffic... Well, she must have had a small skunk in car with her... She explained that she was transporting said animal to good home. Lady's husband didn't want to get involved in this at all... he kept his face turned away from the camera! lolol Officer and lady had discussion about the merits of having a skunk as a house pet... I fell off the chair... I had flash backs of this same thing happening to me because it has! lolol

You'll love this one... One time an officer said (and this is a direct quote)...
"Paula, you sure talk a lot but you don't say anything." Well, I almost collapsed right there on the street... I laffed till I cried! lololol I knew what he meant and it was a compliment! Truly it was... He meant that I didn't carry tales or gossip or tell things out of school! It was just the way he said it that cracked me up! Poor man thought I had lost my mind until it dawned on him what had just fallen out of his mouth.... Then he cracked up... lololol gots the giggles just remembering...

Gots ta get moving here... Need to feed and water all the critters..
