Well, the season has started! I think it's going to be a bad one for forest fires. The following is from the Lex News:~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Hundreds of acres of the Daniel Boone National Forest are burning along the Powell-Wolfe County Line. (The Red River Gorge area...) Forestry Officials say an unattended campfire started spreading Friday. Now, nearly two-hundred acres are on fair and officials fear the fire will spread. They say if we don't get significant rainfall soon, campfires will likely be banned in the forest. They expect the fires to spread to nearly 600 acres over the next few days before officials can extinguish them." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ These fires are quite some distance from me and I am quite safe for the moment. I will need to start what I call the nightly patrol. Out after dark to check the surrounding hill tops for that telltale glow on the horizon.
This Autumn test was posted on The Lighter Side of Oldies by Silverbird22. Do check it out... I really enjoy finding out about myself and others.. lolol No tests, no info and I just might get lost along the way... Oh yeah!
AUTUMN TEST RESULTS for the meems! You are a energetic, warm, optimistic person. You approach everything with a lot of enthusiasm. (Can you say: Bulldozer?) When you are happiest, you are calm. You appreciate tradition and family. You enjoy feeling cozy. You embrace change. You love change. You see change as a rebirth. You find love to be the most comforting thing in the world. You feel at peace when you're with your loved ones. Your ideal day is active and full. You like to keep busy with your favorite things, and you appreciate a routine. (oopsie! 'routine' is not in my dictionary) You tend to live in the moment. You enjoy whatever is going on, and you don't obsess over the past or future. (well... obsess, no... worry or fret, yes)
All remarks in parentheses are mine... lolol... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Been asettin' and a rockin' on the back porch... coffee in hands...the door was open ..Soft music playing in the kitchen... Warm and clear skies... Leaves in their fancy outfits are having a last party for this season...Laffing, chatting and giggling with the winds! Sun spot lighting the many dancers as they move to the rhythms of Mother Earths directing! It don't get any better than this... No way! Gonna take the d cam out... and take some pix of the colors...
Have seen my flyguys up there playing again... and yesterday, I got flashed again! Lolol I waved... and hugged myself... It's my fantasy, by gollies! This morning I looked out the window and saw them up there playing again... Con trails don't last too long right now....The dry air just gobbles them up in no time... That's ok... Even when I can't see them, I hear the echoes of their thunder! I feel safe and comforted.
Take care all of mine... go in safety always.... Get out there and live! Look around you... become one with the skies and the waters of our beautiful planet! Hugs and much love to all of mine... meems
2008/5/10 0937EST
Did y'all see what I did to the date on last Friday's News? Bless her lil heart, the KK caught it and just had to call it to my attention! lolol Instead of 2008/3/10, I wrote 2008/3/2008. Have no idea what my brain was thinking at the time.... KK also asked if it, the typo, meant that I was coming or going! Well, how would I know the answer to that question? Friday was a long time ago to my brain... Remember my 'passage of time' problem? Got the giggles now. I really do need a keeper or an editor or proof reader or sumfin!
MeSneakUpOnRocks (aka Bobbi) has a new group sumfin starting with a B... Check her profile to find it... I have no idea what it is about but she will do a good job with it... whatever it is! lololol I know that doesn't make any sense but then she doesn't expect it of me anyway... Hugs daughter...
It's absolutely beautiful here in the mountains... Sun is shining... not a cloud in the sky... A treasure chest of jewels is glowing in the light... All the colors imaginable in the trees and plants like a crazy quilt sewn with love... Setting here on the porch with my coffee; I just let my eyes wander where they will. Fido is complaining... (been taking lessons from Marv.. gotcha) The dogs are sleeping around my feet. Except for some much needed rain, all is right with my world.
Before I forget... there may or may not be a News Tuesday... I must make the annual trip to town to the doctor's office to have all my scripts renewed... Drop off the latest painting and pick up a few items at the store. Gonna be a long day for sure...
Winter is gonna be here before we know it and I have so much stuff to get done. I ordered some plants from Nat'l Arbor Day Foundation and they should be coming in any day now... Have five lilacs, seedlings, and purple tulips and I forget what else, ordered. Gonna make a bed of purples somewhere out there ...... Haven't quite decided on the exact location yet... I could put them on the far bank of the pond but, then again, I could put them out front in a large bed that's already started...All I need remember is to leave driving lanes/openings around and through the trees and flower beds...
And I certainly must remember to mark the meter pit... water lines... coming into the yard so nobody runs over them! Patsy called yesterday to let me know I could have the wood from the old shed across the road... Gots to get a hold of Grass cutter now and see when he can move it for me... Right now is not a good time... snakes are moving and denning up for the colder months... I need to get into the pond to do some work.... Can't do that either until cold weather... too many places for critters to hide.
Well, can't decide whether to cover dive or get dressed and get some work done today or or... lolol
Oh, another thing, I keep getting these notices that my 'virtual memory' is running out of space. I called Glen last nite... Says puter needs to be stripped and reloaded. Says I have a "deep" virus or something that is eating up my 'little used' spaces... That my puter is fried but limping along...As long as I can get to Eons and all of mine, that's all I care about...
Later all, take care all of mine... go in safety always... enjoy each day for itself and for what it brings... Live life to the fullest.. love one another and be kind... hugs and much love all of mine... meems
lolol check out the date on yesterday's news! wonder where my mind was at that moment! lololol And now for today's: 2008/4/10 1140EST
Duh Paula! Yesterday I was mooned by the scarecrow! (Marv being the guilty party) and it finally dawned on me this is Halloween Month! lolol Am I slow or what! I believe I mentioned I don't understand money. Well, I don't understand the basics and cannot grasp the passage of time. Now, tomorrow, I understand! Today I understand and I do understand yesterday!
What I do not understand is the passage of time! How much time has passed? How long ago? When? Never ever quote my guestimate of when something happened... I might think that it was yesterday but it turns out that it (the event) happened this morning! It might have been a week ago and my brain translates the time into months... This is nothing new for me! I've had this problem all my life... Don't know what to do about it... this lack of exactitude... except live with it! And give fair warning! lolol
Let's see here... have received some responses to the Wooly Worm Question. A lady in Arizona said she finally saw one... was all black... what does that mean, she asked. Lolol Well, I had to tell her there were many stories about the colors and stripings or bandings of the wooly worm. To some, it means a hard cold winter... to others, it means just the opposite! The bands? Well, they too mean different things to different people... The bandings of varying widths are usually black/reddish brown/black. Wide black, narrow brown, black means cold, warm, cold winter... or conversely just the opposite... Last year, I saw my first albino wooly... Never heard of or saw one of them before. Never saw a one when I went to the two pumper this week. I keep a diary so I will write down the weather every day as I normally do ... then I can compare the yearly writings and see...
Did I tell you it was 32o this mornin' when I got up! Opened the back door and was almost run down by the bigger dogs... This time it was 'IN mom IN! Sheesh! Oopsie... telephone... be right back!
1451 EST Just did get back! Sorry bout that... 'Twas Becky calling with bad news... Her last brother died overnite... Go in safety, Brother, and finally rest in peace.
I best go... Take care all of mine and go in safety always.... Take care of one another and above be kind to everyone... love and hugs.... meems

Sheesh kids! Didn't think I was ever gonna' be able to get to the News today! Been on the phone... Lilyputz is a very unhappy little dog... Been relaying info about the "strawberry meth" problem and I have just been mooned by a melon. (Marv, you are a dead man when I get finished with you! I think the boy missed me!)
To start off with, last nite I gave all the 6 pack a goodie treat... I had 4 Leather twisties and a lot of doggy biscuits. The Wrecking Crew doesn't like the twisty thingies so they got the large doggy biscuits... This worked out well I thought but again, in this crazy world I live in, I was WRONG!
Lily 'fell in love' with her twisty... She growled, snapped, snarled, threw a hissy fit (I've taught her well) grumbled, groused and finally buried the twisty under my pillow when I went to bed... The emom she trusts!
I scraped my arm against that thing a dozen times over nite.. no exaggeration here! Got up... gave her back her goody... wandered around the back side of the house for a while...opened the door... 36° here this morning... Good sleeping weather... so I did some more cover diving!
Poor Lil I don't know who took her twisty while I was asleep... could have been any of the larger dogs... but her is unhappy little dog! She has followed me from room to room... and she SITS! in front of me and those eyes are asking me where? Mom, where? She is pitiful... I keep telling her, very quietly and softly, "Honey I don't know... All gone.. all gone" Now she knows what 'all gone' means... but if I move, here she comes to sit and ask again. How do you explain to a critter... two legged or four legged that something is gone... never to return... Oh dear, I'd better quit on this one... going down hill rapidly, me...
I got semi-gussied up and ran down to the Two Pumper yesterday... (My face was clean) lolol Went looking for moth balls and some rat/mouse poison... No moth balls! 'Can't get any'... WHAT! Now what do I do? I used moth crystals to keep snakes away from house... all kinds of critters out of house and flower beds... Hmmm! I will find some... trust me I will! Tis the season for the mice to come inside and they are!
All the germs and unhealthies the mice bring with them aside! Where the mice can go, so can snakes... Whenever I go to the basement, winter or summer, I lift/pick things up carefully cause you never know! (Anna was pulling weeds at the base of her mail box just this last week and had a small copperhead trapped in the clump of weeds she held in her hand... Truth! ) However, I would rather deal with a copperhead than a rattlesnake any day!
Well, while I was at Anna's she gathered some goodies for me to bring home. I took her some old fashioned black hollyhock seeds... she gave me a watermelon, some 'maters, some sweet taters and a hard time! Love that woman! She is rotten to the core and so darned funny! I always come home with the giggles... But I do get even! lolol
Maybe tomorrow I will tell you about the Cops yearly Christmas round ups (No, not that kind! The four legged kind) and then there's always more stories about Sam, the mule, and the yellow bucket... lololol
Take care all of mine... go in safety always... Always carry a yellow bucket or a 5 gallon white bucket with you where ever you go! They do come in handy for a lot of things! Hugs and much love... meems
Oh Dear! A PS KK will kill me if I don't mention this! She asked me to be Mod in the group The Lighter Side Of Oldies Music. Now she knows my limitations when it come to puter stuff. This is living proof, she may be my best friend on here, she's cute and cuddly but she definitely ain't too bright! Gotcha Brat! lololol

Mornin' dear hearts! Welcome home and welcome aboard! I see y'all are wearing sweaters and warm stuff... Is a little chilly for sure! Was 42° earlier... good sleepin weather tho! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The following is from my roving correspondent in Hawaii... Jas2Maui aka Donna: How To Feng Shui Your Bedroom
Your bedroom is your ultimate inner sanctum where you are at your most vulnerable while you sleep and recharge your chi. From a yin/yang perspective, this is a more yin, quiet and peaceful environment; you need to feel protected and do not want distracting and powerful chi to disturb you. At the same time, there needs to be a good circulation of chi and plenty of fresh air available to recharge you.
Aloha Meems...Now really...does this remotely resemble cover diving on or in a feather bed with a six pack of dogs.
This is the GOOD for the day! Thank you Donna for the info and the correct spelling of shui...hugs ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now, the BAD! This is from my buddy JCC...
This is a new drug known as 'strawberry quick '. There is a very scary thing going on in the schools right now that we all need to be aware of.
There is a type of crystal meth going around that looks like strawberry pop rocks (the candy that sizzles and 'pops' in your mouth). It also smells like strawberry and it is being handed out to kids in school yards. They are calling it strawberry meth or strawberry quick.
Kids are ingesting this thinking that it is candy and being rushed off to the hospital in dire condition. It also comes in chocolate, peanut butter, cola, cherry, grape and orange.
Please instruct your children not to accept candy from strangers and even not to accept candy that looks like this from a friend (who may have been given it and believed it is candy) and to take any that they may have to a teacher, principal, etc. immediately.
Our poor children! Thanks sweetie for the info... hugs to you and Sue and the rotten kids and the dogs and the fishies in the pond! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now for some silly!
Zen Sausage Said the Buddhist to the hot dog vendor: "Make me one with everything."
Took me a while to get this one... duh Paula! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fair warning all... the Marv is back in action! Oh dear... His words of greeting and endearment: "Go shinny up a tree!" Ok ... I couldn't do that when I was a kid and he wants me to do it now! Oh, I don't think so! Welcome back brat... glad your puter is working... now if you'd just get busy! lolol gotcha!
Later all of mine... take care and go in safety always...Wake up every day with a smile on your face and a little dog tap dancing on your belly button! Hugs and much love, mine! The I know I am gonna get into trouble today emom!
2008/30/9 1310 EST
Hey everybody.. welcome aboard! A magnificent day! Absolutely gorgeous and we had RAIN overnite... Not much, mind you but it is a start, I hope. It's a 'settin on the back porch' kind of day... Rockin and a pondering!
The fall colors are here early this year... the drought is causing the trees to drop their leaves to conserve moisture. I would give it another two weeks at most and the colors will be gone!
Have no idea what I am going to do the rest of today....Have a few touch ups to make on the cab and chair... I've done gotcha's on Annie and Smokey and KK... Pondering on what to do to the Boss... And Marv is off line today! Something to do with the phone lines coming in to his house... Shock, shock! Marv called me yesterday! Marv hates to use phone but he called me anyway! According to him, it might have something to do with the wiring in the house... Gonna be big bucks to fix and or replace.... Old wiring! I bit my tongue and didn't do a gotcha on the Marv! I can get a lot of gotcha mileage out of 'old wiring'... lol
Been hearing my flyguys overhead the last several days... haven't seen any con trails tho... Clear sky days don't have enuf moisture for the trails to last and the last three days the clouds deck has been too low. But, I can hear them and know they are up there having a good time... and that's all that really counts... I wave anyway just in case... lolol Sunday and Monday, I saw Medivac choppers just a hustling to the Northeast! Guess they were heading for Richmond or maybe Manchester... Dunno but you can betcha they were transporting a very sick puppy!
As I've always warned, I am an outrageous flirt! Well honey! I had the cutest chopper pilot flying me to Lexington ER. Half dead but not totally, I asked if I could have him for my Christmas stocking! Just wanted to borrow him! lolol I shocked not only my very own personal pilot but cracked up the Medics too. Well! It's not every day this rotten lil ol lady got a ride in a heldoctor! (my kids' word for helicopter when they were little) ... Beautiful nite flite! I fell in 'love' with the flight, my pilot and the scenery after dark! If I died, so what! What a way to go! I even shocked my cutie by being able to read the I panel... what part I could see. Alt. 1,500.. forward speed 125 mph. Wish I knew his name... I would send him a big hug and thank you!
Guess that's it for now.. gots to do the finishing touches on the cab and chair. That and try to stay out of trouble today!
Take care all of mine, go in safety always... Laff, love, see the world for what it is, our home! Many hugs and much love to all.... Meems
2008/29/9 1404EST
Hey everybody... Gorgeous day! I see blue sky, white puffies gliding over the hills... the wind and the leaves are talking ever so quietly out back. Birds are singing and 5 of the 6 pack are sound asleep. Doors are open and so are the windows... A lovely cool 74° here in the apartment... I'll say it again... this is my fave time of the year... Don't get any better than this!
Oh dear... The Lilyputz is in a bad mood again today! Spud has taken over the 'bed' under the puter table! This is serious situation! Oopsie, wrong again! Spud just moved to my bed... Lily has taken charge of the under bed... but she is still grumpy. Growling at everybody! Last nite I found her in my clothes basket... on top of my neatly folded paint clothes! (Did I ever mention that almost everything I own has paint on it?) No harm done... lolol
I must mention for all the painting I do, I rarely get my oil paints on me...But you let me pick up a brush or roller to do something else... like walls, furniture or even priming a panel or canvas... I end up with paint all over me... lolol I really am cute and all dolled up! lolol Right now, I have black oil based paint all over my hands, arms, legs, under my nails, on my face, dabbed all over! lolol
Dabbles of paint aside, I did get the second coat of paint on the cabinet and the chair... Tonight, I will apply a top coat of oil based poly... semi gloss... to both pieces. But I am not finished yet! I still need to come up with a basic design for the cab and the chair seat... I can stencil or free hand or a combination of both! Will take pix when those two pieces are done... the next item is the bed itself! I am tired of the white with blue flowers on the frame... Been that way since 2001 and needs a change! Oh yeah and I don't mean the bed sheets! lolol
Speaking of... a thought crossed my mind this morning... What direction does the head of your bed face? I mean when you are in bed, what direction does the top of you head point?... lolol maybe I shouldn't have started this cause now I've got the giggles... lololol I don't even know why I am asking! But as I was waking up this morning, I found myself lying crosswise in the bed... my head was pointing south! The head board is against the east wall..The only place the bed fits in here.
Hmmmm! Then I got to pondering... all the places I've lived I've always slept with my head pointing south... No matter where... always to the south when possible! East is second best. Any body familiar with Feng Sui?(sp) Gots to be a reason for this.. must ponder on this some more....
Called Becky at work a little bit ago! I am crackin up! It dawned on me that I missed her birthday this month... Knew there was sumfin I was forgetting... Well, how bout her birthday was last month! I only missed it by a month... that ain't bad for me. She got tickled and had to tell her co-workers what I had done! Liver Lip that she is, the whole crew at the bank were giggling when I hung up... I really do need a keeper when it comes to any thing to do with numbers... and dates!
And yet, when I go into 'cop' mode I have no problems at all... Been told that's because I am using a different part of the brain! Did y'all ever take the test where you are verbally given 10 numbers to repeat in reverse? Well I have... 10 numbers straightforward, could not remember so easily... Yet, when I was given the 10 and told to reverse them ... no problems at all! I rattled them right off! Does this make sense? Sensible or not, this is the way of my world.
Later all of mine... take care... go in safety always... Learn to laff at yourself and your shortcomings. Love yourself and your world... Things will get better... hugs and much love meems
2008/28/9 1344 EST
Mornin' everybody! Yeah, yeah! I know it's after noon, but it is morning to me! Slept sound as (I would say a dollar but..... ) a log... sumfin. China woke me about 0730 with the 'outside mom' whimper... I staggered down the hall to the kitchen... propped open the back storm door... staggered back to the apartment and crawled under the covers again...
When I awoke a little while ago, I was buried under blankets and five dogs. The Newbie was guarding the hall way. I ain't gonna get cold this winter, that's a for sure! LOL
I signed up for sumfin on Google yesterday... Or rather I tried to sign in on my gmail... Well, it's been a while since I've used gmail... Do you think I could remember my password? I don't think so! I tried several of the older passwords... Nope! I got out my 'memory' book (so called because I don't have one, memory that is)
Looked under 'G' first thing... Nope... under 'E' for email... Nope...to 'XYZ' where I keep odds and ends of info... Nope! Hmmm! Gave up and just pondered for a while... Nothing, nada! Well, I finally made it but it was a start from scratch thing. Sheesh! I am NOT a puter nerd, I are a dummy! This time I wrote everything down... start to finish... Now, you watch, I'll lose my 'memory' book and be back at square one!
While I was paging thru the 'm' book, I found the following from May 2, 2006:
Random Thoughts Awake, I listen and hear the night sounds... Hunters baying on the far hills... Nested hens murmuring soft comforts... My dog gently snoring... Tree frogs telling secrets of their own... And stars, so distant, have no voice.... But whisper to me with their beauty... I am at peace and will sleep later.
This was on the same paper: Life's little lessons: Never take a nap on you back with your ankles crossed! You will wake with six dogs lying across you knees, bending them backwards! I was not meant to walk like a chicken! Lolol
This came in from Marv... Where he found it I don't know! lolol "The nice part of living in a small town: When you don't know what you are doing, someone else always does!" Now this should be written in stone! lolol I have been known to ask friends and neighbors if they know of anything about what I have been doing that I don't... lolol Most look a little bashful but will start out saying: "Well, you know how it is in a small town..... " I crack up every time! I just love it here!
Well, kids, the furniture is still sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor waiting for a second coat of paint... Must get to that today...I have a real big kitchen but it is unhandy to have extra furn in there! lolol
Then there is the story of the Reporter for WLEX trying to interview a passing prisoner who was being escorted from the courthouse. Reporter: "Are you really not guilty?" Prisoner: "No!" ... I think I missed sumfin here! lololol
Later all... Welcome home, Dear hearts, Welcome home!
Take care, go in safety always... Listen carefully to the news, it just may confuse you... laff... giggle.. try to see the humor in humanity... many hugs and much love... meems
