Finally! Computer up and running, I hope! Dogs are in, the bed is made (again), had brunch at Andy's (was yummy) but I still must make the rounds to see who is doing what to whom... Ah yes, gossip!

Still fighting with web cam and pics... will I ever get this thing figured out? Nah... nope... no way... Spent hours on it yesterday and looks like I'm gonna be doing the same thing today...

Oh, BTW, if y'all want to see the six pack in action (I am telling a whopper here) try inaction... Go to my profile page blog and you will find pics of the whole crew! I took some new ones (pics) yesterday and this morning. This is fun til I get to the upload stage! Can you say: emom has a short fuse?!? lolol

I can handle most anything but frustration... In my mind, if it is supposed to work, why ain't it! Of course, I am puter challenged and that don't help a bit! lolol Then on the other side... if it ain't broke, why do 'they' fix it so it is broke? Just another of life's imponderables! Seems like there is a philosophical statement in there someplace.... Well, maybe......

I was just think about the weather patterns here... Even tho we have been extremely dry here, this August reminds me very much of the weather way back when in the 50's and 60's. August was harvest time... hot and dry but humid. Just this week before going back to school after Labor Day, just when you wanted to top off your tan, it would turn cool and rainy... Go to swimming pool = freezing buns off! Can remember grumbling year after year about that daggone last week in August! Never did change a thing, but there was always sumfin to talk about at school after the holiday! Boys and weather! lololol

I have decided that nothing/everything changes but remains the same over the long haul. Wouldn't have it any other way! lolol

Mornin' all of mine... hugs all around! Just rolled out and on my first coffee for the day! I might just make it!

GOOD NEWS! We had rain! A lovely steady rain all day long! 1.7" of rain and still drizzling some... The biggie for the weather was the humidity ...98% humids! In all my life, I've never seen such high reading... I've joked about it over the years but yesterday was no joke... I do not have gills nor fins but I think I best be checking to make sure!

When I let the dogs out, I spotted Gabby and Fido taking a shower in the pond. They were parallel to each other... splashing water for all they were worth... wings and elbows just a flapping... water spraying everywhere! Kind of reminded me of horses in the field on a hot day... head to tail... with tail feathers slapping at the flies on the partner... I love it!

Told y'all this ain' no democracy here... Well, the six pack went into rebellion mode last nite! Weren't nobody going out to play/stay in the rain. I ended up with 5 of the 6 pack on the bed with me! This does not leave much room for this mean lil ol lady! And can you say, overheated? Dogs average temp is 101°... Them critters radiate a lot of heat! Now this is wonderful in the winter when the bedroom windows are open and the fan is going... Summer time, windows closed, A/C on....Well, that's another story altogether!

This hot humid weather? I just tell myself, 'this too shall pass' and it always has...

Fall is my favorite time of the year and it is just beginning to work it's way here to the mountains... The colors are glorious! I watch to see the changes each day... Where the sun strikes and where it doesn't... the cloud patterns. Each day is a lovely new work of art... I am content!

Beck came out for a visit... lolol and I ignored her! We were back here in the 'apartment'... Newbie has fallen in love with her... I cracked up... he wanted in her lap... chewed on her arms... tried to steal her sandals...chewed on her toes... flopped on his back all four feet in the air... grinning.. all teeth showing... drooled all over her. Beck, in the meantime, is squalling like a banshee!

Off! Quit! Ouch! Newbie, Quit! Look at him! And me, in my most pleasant manner, ever the perfect hostess, tells her she is on her own! I ignore the two of them and stay out of harm's way... Newbie does leave off for a few... comes over to tell me he loves the new toy! and promptly goes back to tormenting Beck! We, Becky and I, do manage to get a little gossiping done! The Mountain Telegraph at work! Lolol...

I love it here! I am happy today even with my puter problems. Oh last nite, I finally had to call Glen! Wowser, did he yell at me or what! He spoke thru gritted teeth... I knew it was coming but I had to go thru it anyway... Well, I am back to semi-working conditions and I must remember NOT to play with the keys when I have no idea what I am doing... Worst of all are the repercussions from hitting the wrong button... I just might learn to resist THAT temptation... if I live long enuf! How bout a couple of hundred years?!? Nah! That still ain't enuf time! lolol

Here I thought I might be bored living out in the middle of nowhere... Ain't gonna happen, thank goodness!

Mornin' everybody! And I do mean mornin'... I am up way before breakfast and I had no choice in the matter! Rotten 4 legged critters decided it was time for the meems to get up and let them outside! Again, I had no choice in the matter... I have discovered this is not a democracy! I am out-manned, out-maneuvered, out-thought, out-smarted and out-numbered! This is just the starter list....

Well, anyway, first thing, I trundle (my fave word again) down the hall toward the kitchen... I am grumbling and so are the dogs.... Open back door. throw dogs out... go to make the coffee!

Newbie and China stayed out last nite... Newbie guards the perimeters and China stays on the back porch. I could hear him doing the rounds late last nite. He would bark his messages to China and she would respond the same way. No alarms... all ok... and I could tell where he was by where she was. Spudley was inside babysitting the emom and the little ones. I have often wondered how they make up their schedules. Some body is always nearby to guard the emom and set up the alarm if any problems develop. The rest are out playing!

Just let one alarm go out and the rest of the pack comes a roaring! Looking for bad guys, intruders, spies and undercover agents... Well, I have digressed (ty KK barump bump) yet again...

Anyway, I let all the dogs back in! Oh man! What a racket.. my poor ears! Newbie grabs China by the tail, puts his brakes on and holds on! China ain't going nowhere until Newbie decides so... Spudley tries to break it up...No go! The three little ones come flying back to the 'apartment' to cover dive and look for bad guys.

I ignore the 3 in the kitchen, trying not to spill my precious cup of hot coffee, I trundle back to the 'apartment' myself...plop my buns in the swinging chair... Aaaah! This is wonderful... hot coffee... cigar! Monitor lighting up...I am semi-ready to face the world! Oopsie, wrong!

Here come the three large monsters... ouchie! Newbie wants in my lap... so does Spud and Pygs! This ain't working, kids! Chair will only hold so much... ditto with my lap! Newbs wants his ears rubbed... so does Spud .. Pyggs being the smallest can scramble under them to get to me and does. Newbie drools all over keyboard and grins at me... I shoo them all away... This is not what I envisioned the first thing this morning. However, it is what I got! lololol

The next thing I hear is Ophie growling behind me. I turn around to see the Newbs posed like a sphynx alongside the bed.... grinning at Ophie! Did I tell you that Ophie is a very shy little dog?... Well, she is but she also has a short fuse and the heart of a lioness! Now, Newbie could gulp her down in one bite... well, maybe two...but you get the idea...

I cracked up! Ophie put the Newbs in his place verbally... went up to him and gave him a slurp on the nose.. jumped up on the bed and is now under the covers next to the Newbs ... both sound asleep ... for a while peace reigns. Thank goodness!

Well, I am heading out now... Going to Andy's bar and grill. No, I am not gonna get a drink... not yet anyway. (which reminds me... wonder if the Marv has recovered from his weekend hangover?) Back to Andy's... he makes the best breakfasts in the whole world... Gonna have me some sausage gravy over biscuits.. Oh, that sounds soooo gooooood... and lots of hot fresh coffee... Come on over to VNV and join the gang at the big table....We have a ball first thing in the mornings... there's Smokeyspop, SallyAlly, Pmac, and sometimes LittleJake and Racered. Shopman (Andy) joins us before the rush... Bring flack jacket and helmet for own safety... we do get a little rowdy once in a while! lololol What a crew!

Well kids... Today has already been an adventure of sorts. The ducks are complaining mightily again... The temp and humidity are rising rapidly and the barometer is falling! The Storm gods had better come out to play today or I am gonna thro a hissy fit....Trust me, a hissy fit thrown by the emom is a terrible sight to see... also impressive! I need to start checking the surroundings after dark for fires. Been way too dry for way too long...

In the last month, we've only had a 1/4" of rain. That ain't enuf! The well is holding up and I still have water but I'm not wasting any either... The pond is almost dry... another reason the ducks are not happy.

And, I think I need to get out of the house more often... I am turning into a hermitess! I caught myself talking to and carrying on an adult conversation with the Lilyputz!

Lily trundles over to my chair, sits up on haunches and starts to talk to me... I, of course, get tickled... She is really talking in earnest about something! I looked at clock... 1920 hours... Hmmm... She is telling me that it is 'goodie' time. Now, Lily can be terminally cute and is a well schooled con artist... I am still giggling but I tell her no... we have another 40 minutes to go before 'goodies'... Well, she does the luftwaffen thing with her ears, then the ears go to the full 'Yoda' position... all the while she is talking and yodeling ... Her little dread locks just a shaking! lolol Well, hard hearted Hanna here, just ignores the sad eyes and the droopy ears and makes her wait. Gots to be strong else them critters will walk all over you...At 2000 hours on the button... I goes to the kitchen and grabs some doggy biscuits and give everybody a treat... Peace reigns supreme for a short while... bribery will get you everywhere! lolol

That reminds me... Remember me telling you about Lily needing help to get onto the bed... Well, that little monster had conned me again! She is perfectly able to get up on the bed with no help at all! Sheesh! Here I was feeling sorry for her! Her getting old and all that junk! Outsmarted by the least of the 6 pack this time... lolol

Had some serious puter problems last nite and was up late trying to correct the problem... McAfee kept telling me I had NO protection... and my emails are all messed up... Lost a lot of my email addys and no telling what else... Sheesh! I must have really been bad in a past life cause it sure seems to be catching up with me now! lolol

Gee whiz... So hot out there and dry! The ground up here on the mountain is orange and yellow clay... It is baked hard! I watered a spot last nite to soften the ground so I could dig a hole to plant a split leaf sumac. Poor little plant is in bad shape but still alive. I got it on sale at True Value in Jackson last week... A $30.00 plant for $5.88...I thot it was a steal!

While I was watering the chicks yesterday, I gathered some old fashioned black Hollyhocks seeds. These hollyhocks grow to 7 or 8' tall. Anna wants some of the seeds, so I will take them down to her one day this week! We swap seeds and plants back and forth all the time.

Lets see.... I also have some home grown apples left that Anna gave me. I'll take these out at dusk and throw them in my 'growing' field. The field is about a 1/3 of an acre in size. I use it to start all kinds of things and I never mow it. The weeds there protect the saplings and young plants from the sun. The weeds also protect from the freezing winds in the winter.... Second year, I go looking for and transplant any I can.

Went out to get the mail yesterday... looked up and saw my flyguys again! Takes forever for the sound to reach me. They are long gone by the time I hear them. I have heard them up there the last few days but saw nothing of the con trails until yesterday. lolol and I swear it looked like the one lovely bird was leaving a Morse code with its con trail. I cracked up cause I think that would be very hard to do! and it was just a little bit messy! Try again fellers... and I will try to find my code sheet... I've had some tell me that my imagination is working overtime. That may be true but it is my fantasy and I am having the best time with it! lolol Plus there are no close neighbors to see me waving like mad at them good looking fellers up there...

Well, I'm out a here for now... I have a panel all ready to throw some paint at/on... and I really must get around to some Suzy Homemaking stuff...

Hi everybody! Been watching Kolchak! Lolol The original series with Darren McGavin from 1975.... Every one of that series was a trip! It was always on late in the evening.. after the kids were in bed and before hubby came home from work.

The one program I cannot watch however is the new Call 911! I am thrilled the dispatchers are now receiving the accolades they deserve. Many of the calls hit too close to home for me.... I cannot tell you how many women I heard screaming "my baby! my baby!" And how I gave them something to hold on to in the future... I gave them instructions on CPR and stayed on the line with the mothers until the life squad arrived. I knew full well the baby was dead but the mothers did everything humanly possible to save their child!

I could tell you about the man having a heart attack and talking to him until the squad got there... All the while thinking (I hope I didn't say it) S.O.B. don't you dare die on me...

I could tell you about the young teenager who had already cut himself to pieces and was dying of loneliness. I 'reached' him and kept him on the line until my Sergeant could get to him....

I could tell you about the time my deputy was surrounded by downed electric lines and me raising hell with CG&E to get someone there ASAP!

Downed planes, a child killed by a dog, two young girls killed by a drunken driver, babysitting with little ones in the dispatch center when parents were arrested....

Knowing full well that a woman I had talked to several times had not committed suicide... that she had been offed by her ex-husband... That the woman had died in absolute terror...

To any dispatcher out there who reads this... God bless you, take care of yourselves and forgive yourself your errors... You are allowed to be human!
Cry and mourn... it is ok... You can't do it at work... How well I know!

Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! I know! I am running very late again! Sorry bout that! lolol

Phone woke me early... I went back to bed... phone rang again... And need I mention Marv? He is on a roll this morning... Umpteen messages going back and forth! And so far, not one complaint about the News being late! His mind, if he has one, is elsewhere today! lolol Gotcha Brat! Tee heeeeee!

I've been playing with my new digital cam... and having the best time with it... Did y'all see the picture of the Newbie on guard duty? lolol and the one of the three of the others trying to get him off my bed? I cracked up... first time I've used it! By the way, that is a double bed with regular sized pillows if that helps judge the scale... And YESSS! Newbie is a huge still growing dog. Right now, I have six on duty here in the 'apartment' or maybe I should call it the dogs house! Sound asleep, some dreaming, some snoring... Do you reckon they feel safe... bellies full... and they all know where the emom is.

What else... Some time this morning I managed to get all the critters fed and watered... the hummers were threatening to go on strike cause their feeder was empty... I am trying to make a pot of coffee and they are hanging outside the kitchen window! Fussing and complaining... Gabby and Fido are throwing a fit... the dogs are underfoot and I am going to get some cats?!? I must be out of my mind... lolol Never mind, the last line is a 'given' with me...

Well, I never lock the doors out here anymore... Any one who wants to come in and play with the dogs is more than welcome to do so... I personally wouldn't want to tangle with the five of them! China, Spud, Newbie and even little Pygs and Ophie go in to offense mode with no hesitation... Lilyputz is old and sleeps most of the day away... She's allowed. Lily also has an excellent internal clock... At 2000 hours, give or take a few minutes, she comes up to me, sits up on her haunches and gives me to know it is 'goodie' time! I crack up.. If I ignore her for a few, she will start to talk to me and yodel some while she's at it! In no uncertain terms, she lets me know! Time for goodies, time to let the big dogs out for the nite, time for her to go to bed! Don't keep her waiting!

Sheesh! What a racket! lolol The six pack's carrying on and barking up a storm! Little tiny Ophie is throwing a fit! We are defending the house and property from a bull dozer out on the road! and I am cracking up! I wouldn't dare tell them they are outnumbered, out manned, outmaneuvered and definitely outweighed. However, they have managed to drive away the threat and now appear to be insufferably pleased with themselves.! Do dogs buff their nails on their vests? lolol

Well, I got my act together yesterday and drove down to the two pumper to pick up the kitties... Ratz! no kitties! Tommy, the owner of the two pumper, had rounded them up and put them in a small orange crate. Momma kitty didn't like this at all! Tore the heck out of the crate and escaped with all the kittens! Tommy was slightly damaged in the attempt and not a happy camper! Now, I must wait another week for him to try again... The kittens are so cute but they ain't gonna be 'pets'. They are wilder than the wind and all business! Momma cat is a great hunter and good mouser. I'm sure they will be too!

If I am supposed to have a house cat, it will come. I can't say that I miss having a cat stroll through my palette then leave oil paint paw prints all over the house... Especially when the color they choose stains everything within reaching distance.

Up in Ohio, I had a cat step into a small pile of Alizarin Crimson oils! She traveled to the bath room... to get a drink of water at the sink. Misty also tried the faucet in the bath tub! Hit the toilet seat and checked out the window too! This doesn't even begin to touch on the subject of the carpeting between the studio and the bathroom!

Maybe I should mention the bath room was all white tile with white grout! All white fixtures too! Well, I mumbled, grumbled, used / said more than a few unladylike words and started cleaning... lolol Oils can travel a long way unless you want them to... oh yeah!

Oh, I sent a nastygram to att.net about the email problems, changed a couple of settings and am now getting most of my emails. Told att.net "NOW! FIX IT!" Sumfin worked... cause I am getting most of what I would expect to receive.

Well kids... Having serious puter problems again... AT&T.net in it's wisdom has declared me an abuser of the system AGAIN! I could cry from the frustrations involved! Crying will not change a thing! So.... if anybody has a problem contacting me thru emails or you get a bounce back, just pm me or one of my friends...Eons still seems to like me... or not!

If this problem turns into a cascade again, I will be forced to change my address and all information... I'll keep y'all updated.

Sheesh! The dogs are playing ghostie gotcha on the bed. Pyggy seems to be it today... lololol Lordy, what a rowdy bunch! They are having a good time and I am learning I do not have a hearing problem! lolol

New chickies are settling in just fine... eating well and learning the territory... and the little doodle is so cute to watch... It are all new stuff to the chicklet.. lolol Whenal dalk oopsie! Newbie is trying to help me type and git Newb's sheesh! he has drooleed all over the key board! Him loves to have him ears rubbed... Sorry bout that... first things first in his book! Cracking up here!
